  1. The drug wasn't created to kill, its true purpose is still unknown, the killing is actually its side-effect and the BO was using this side-effect to their advantage against Shiho's will. There was also a list of APTX4869 victims and all of them (except Shinichi) was confirmed to be dead. We still don't know for sure whether this child was also another victim of APTX4869 or not.
  2. About the... ..."territory" thing, I'm not sure whether it's the same "territory" that Okiya used. I don't have access to the Raw so I can't tell if the Kanjis are the same.
  3. That's all it says unfortunately. I don't think there is any clarification on where they found the bug (except that it's from a pair of glasses) or whether Conan planted it on purpose or not. But looking at page 15 where he's attempting to listen to something, I highly suspect that he left the bug on purpose (unless Conan somehow predicted that "X-chan" would find his backpack suspicious and took the bug out to examine it, thus did the job for him, before he reclaimed the pack). Since he goes home with his backpack, he must have removed the bug and secretly left it there at some point, assuming that the bug was inside his pack all along.
  4. 878 Chinese: http://bbs.aptx.cn/thread-269973-1-1.html The last part (translated by Conan#1): Page 16: Sera: "Listening device...so it hides inside the temple tips..." Mystery girl: "So close, so close...since I never seen this pattern... Due to the size of battery, it may last just a short while... this shape with this function is interesting..." Sera: "Then, are you interested on him now?" Mystery Girl: "Not to the point can be trusted, if he can't bear it and try to investigate me, then you answer... I am your...little sister outside the territory..." Last page side note: Details Already Known...1) Close Relationship With Sera, 2) Calm Analysing Skill, 3) Frail In Health...?, 4) [Little Sister Outside The Territory]...?? Next Issue Is Heiji Series!!!
  5. 878 spoilers: http://tieba.baidu.com/p/2680016428 1. Conan eavesdrops Sera and the girl via the bug, but they find out and destroy it. 2. The two also talk about something and mention Conan. 3. Double-breaks after this issue. It seems Heiji will appear next case.

    Novels..!

If you're talking about the Detective Conan novels, none of them are written and published by Gosho Aoyama. He doesn't even draw the illustration arts. Most novels are adapted to live-action drama episodes/specials (and probably vice versa), I'm not sure if there was any significant change to the plot though. A few weren't adapted since they are "Conan novels" and not "Shinichi novels". Out of all the novels, I've only read The Witch of Ejinbara in Chinese version, the overall story and atmosphere were decent, but there were some illogical/unrealistic details however.
  7. I moved the thread to Off-topic/Games/Forum games. Thanks for noticing this by the way.
  8. I'm making this thread for discussions and opinions regarding movie 17 since there wasn't one already. The other thread in the "News and updates" section is best left for, well, news and updates only. My opinions about this movie (contain heavy spoilers, so it's best not to read it if you haven't watched the movie): What I like: What I dislike: Overall opinion: Pretty decent and worth watching. Much better than the recent movies (especially 16 and 14).
  9. Some groups seem to have begun subbing it already. It's gonna take a while though since this movie is filled with dialogues and difficult terms.
  10. No, Lupin III vs. Conan will come out on this December, movie 18's release date is April 2014.
  11. No, you're not missing anything. Don't believe anything unless it's from an official source.
  12. Sorry, we don't give links to download sites here, so you're gonna have to find it on your own.
  13. You have to wait 2 weeks in total instead of one (I'm counting official release date here).
  14. THIS THREAD will be used to discuss the ENGLISH ONLY VERSION. In other words, if you only read early spoilers or the Chinese scanlation and wish to discuss them, this is NOT the right place for you! RULES OF THE ENGLISH ONLY NO SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD: 1. DO NOT POST any kind of spoiler involving the case (Pictures, Texts, Information, Full Scans...) of any language. Even posting spoilers in spoiler boxes is not allowed. 2. Please DO NOT reveal, give hints or talk about any information or event that has not yet happened in the English releases in this thread. Q&A: 1. Why is this whole thing necessary ? A: Click here. 2. Can I join the discussion in the other thread as well ? A: Of course you can. HOWEVER, as mentioned in the rules above, you MUST NOT reveal, give hints or talk about ANYTHING that spoils in this thread if you do. Yay for the triple release! All three files 874-875-876 are out in English!!! Have fun discussing and speculating!
  15. No, it could also be before that.
  16. There are some problems however: 1. The Black Organization never had a good look at the driver that was "taking Kir away". I don't remember if they drew it properly in the anime, but in the original manga version, Camel's hair obscured most of his face, as seen from the BOs' standing position. No actually, that was what we see via the telescope on Chianti's rifle, so the actual view must have been even more vague (File 603, Page 13). While earlier Vodka was close enough to see Camel's face during the chase, however, the side windows were tinted so that people couldn't see what's inside (File 603, Page 5). From Vodka's position, he probably could vaguely see Camel's shadow, but not his face. This explains why they had to use the thermal scanning devices to count the number of people in the first place. (The reason Gosho drew Camel's face was to show his expression, and also to remind the reader which car he's in, but technically it would be impossible from Vodka's point of view). As a conclusion, the BO most likely wouldn't recognize Camel a second time even if they were given his picture. I can't tell whether they would recognize him when meeting him face-to-face, but none of the presented BOs has seen him again ever since the explosion. 2. The Black Organization didn't know the name of the "exploded" driver. Therefore, even if their spying lackeys heard that some FBI agent was involved in a murder case, and worse, they knew that he's called "Camel", the BO wasn't able to match this with the driver that died earlier since his name was unknown to them. 3. The BO never had the chance to re-check the scene, not that it would be really necessary to them. The former is because the police would most likely show up and take care of the explosion not much later. The latter is because, unlike Akai, Camel (as a generic driver) is just like any other FBI agent that would not cause much damage to them even if alive. Therefore, they wouldn't risk exposing themselves just for a confirmation of his death. Not to mention that the chance of someone surviving such an explosion is really really low (in fact, impossible in real life). And no, unlike Akai's situation again, this incident is not a solid indication of Kir's loyalty, therefore a death confirmation was not really necessary. From the BO's point of view, whether this "driver" was really dead or not wasn't important, because the "fake-death plan" didn't necessarily involve Kir (yes, we know she's definitely involved, but we're talking about the BO's perspective here). She did what she had to do as a loyal BO member (knocking him off, giving the BO the chance to rescue her, not objecting when they're about to kill him). There's nothing suspicious about that. Whether he's only pretending to be unconscious or not had nothing to do with her, she might not know about it (again, we all know she didn't hit him hard enough so he still remained consciousness, but the BO couldn't deduce that). Therefore, this incident couldn't certainly tell them whether she's loyal or not, so a re-check wasn't needed. 4. Bourbon was the only one to have a good look at Camel after the incident... However, he wasn't present during the car chase so he wouldn't know that Camel was the driver. He couldn't get much description from other agents either since like explained above, they neither know his appearance nor his name, so he also wasn't able to match the information. I don't know how Bourbon figured out that Camel was an FBI agent in the first place, but he might have monitored Jodie first, and then located other agents close to her.
  17. @Chek: I'm pretty sure he's referring to the blond one.
  18. THIS THREAD is used to discuss about SPOILERS. In other words, if you only read the English version and wish to wait for the official release instead of getting spoiled, this is NOT the right place for you! RULES OF THE SPOILER-ONLY DISCUSSION THREAD: 1. Any kind of spoiler involving the case (pictures, texts, information, full scans...) of any language that is released before the actual English version must be posted HERE. The English translations of the spoilers must also be posted here. Please DO NOT share them at the thread made for English-files readers only, in ANY form (NOT even in spoiler boxes). 2. Any kind of discussion involving the spoilers must be posted HERE. Please DO NOT reveal, give hints or talk about any information or event (that has not yet happened in the English releases) at the thread made for English-files readers only, in ANY form (NOT even in spoiler boxes). 3. Despite being a Spoiler-only thread, EVERY spoiler and discussion involving events that has not yet happened in the English releases STILL has to be put inside Spoiler boxes. When the mentioned file is officially released in English, this is not necessary anymore. 4. NO DIRECT LINK to Original Japanese scans (RAWs) or to ANY English manga scan because we don't want to have any problem with lawyers. (Japanese spoiler pictures are allowed as long as the amount and quality of which are very very far away from a full scan, like the ones we usually have). Q&A: ANYWAY, everyone should read this whole post carefully before posting or viewing anything. If you are mistaken for not paying attention to it, the creator of the thread, the moderators and every other forum members will NOT take any responsibility. 876 Chinese: http://tieba.baidu.com/p/2643278827 Some translations: Page 3 (from 3rd panel): Ran: So, is your mother still living in America? Sera: Yeah, ever since I came back to Japan, I've been living alone at a hotel. I thought of living together with my second brother who's been in Japan the whole time, but he refused... Sonoko: But living at a hotel like that, don't tell me you're a girl from some rich family? Sera: My father has a friend who is always taking care of me, he's rich, but not as wealthy as Sonoko-kun. Sonoko: Is that so? Sera: I'm not acquainted with any other relative whom I can depend on... I think that after I grow up I'll definitely repay him properly. Conan (thinking): Three siblings, two are brothers. If she's not acquainted with any other relative... Page 4: Conan: Then who on earth is that person? Who's the girl looking a lot like Sera that appears on her cellphone's screen? NOTE: While the Chinese translation used the masculine pronoun "him", it's possible that it was a gender-neutral word in the original Japanese, so I'm not sure if Sera's friend is male. Also as you can see, there's another person hiding inside Sera's hotel apartment, probably inside the room where she didn't want Conan to enter. EDIT: The Chinese team has made some corrections to their translation: http://tieba.baidu.com/p/2643854673, so I've changed mine too.

  20. Some of the details don't quite match (like hairstyles and skin colors), but the anime staff probably re-used the character designs of those children.
  21. What User 4869 said. Also, assuming that Gosho wanted to change the dialogues in order to foreshadow Heiji's connection with the BO, he would have done this with his own manga (which he has most influence on), but he never did. There's no point in altering Funimation's version (not so many people actually watch Case Closed anyway) without doing the same to the original version in Japan (where most Conan fans live) and other dubbed versions throughout the world. It's obviously Fun's work of changing the dialogues in order to cover the plot hole of the Japanese anime version (i.e giving Conan the "chance" to learn Gin and Vodka's codenames). Gosho's manga, on the other hand, did have a good reason why Conan knows their names. I'm pretty sure that by the time the English dub version of this episode aired in the US (2004), the DC series has already become really famous in Japan, as the manga had already passed... the Vermouth arc (Vol 44 was released on January 2004). The series had already been really long at that point, so there's no reason for Gosho to contact the American scriptwriters and make Heiji a BO just because he thought that it wouldn't be long.
  22. Unless they fabricated the translation (which I doubt), it wasn't Funimation's fault actually. They just translated the dialogues directly from the original Japanese version. The reason why the Japanese anime producers decided to alter some details of the plot (e.g changing Gin and Vodka to two look-alikes in at least two cases) was because they didn't expect that the Detective Conan series would become this famous (let alone still on-going till today), since they probably thought that doing so wouldn't leave any cliffhanger behind, should they give DC an immediate end. But when it did, this backfired really badly as it created severe plot holes. So of course they had to alter even more plots to fix those plot holes (like re-introducing Akemi in episode 128). You can refer to this list to see what else did they change. (But beware, the article's not completed yet.) EDIT: OK LOL just watched both versions (English dub and sub), and yes, Funimation DID fabricate the conversation. The original Japanese version of the dialogues are basically the same as in the manga (Heiji compliments Shinichi for beating him, but Shinichi denies this by saying that deductions aren't about winning or losing, because there's always only one truth, and so on...). So this is even more unreliable. http://www.detectiveconanworld.com/wiki/Diplomat_Murder_Case#Dub_changes But then again, this leaves another infamous plot hole in the Japanese version: How the hell did Conan learn Gin and Vodka's code names? Therefore, always refer to the canon Japanese manga when it comes to the plot.
  23. Happy Birthday!!!
