Using Lum instead of Rum wouldn’t make sense I think… dunno. Maybe I should put Lum instead? In Japanese Lum and Rum are the same word, so the play on words works, but in English it doesn’t. Also… has anyone seen Chekhov recently?

ついにラムちゃんと対決だっちゃ！ | It’s finally a confrontation with Rum-chan! …I’m not sure how to take this. Aoyama is making it sound like Haibara knows Rum, but why is she calling him “Rum-chan”? That’s a cutesy way to call people usually used for females… but I thought we already knew Rum was male. And actually the だっちゃ sounds like some weird dialect, don’t know the meaning of using that.

I’m 22. I’ve always known Conan because they aired it on TV and I watched it as a kid, but only recently (maybe in 2010?) I started following it for real, starting the anime from episode 1 and watching all aired episodes up to that point (took me a few months), then I dropped the anime for the manga because I couldn’t wait for the plot.

What’s the chapter in question where she says that? I’ve only checked the first link and it gives 4 points of why she could be the mother, I’ll sum them up: 1. Same eyes, same family. We know the middle brother looks like the father. This means that Sera and Akai look like the mother. That girl with the same eyes as Sera is the mother. I think this is interesting because Chekhov has theorized previously that the Japanese might not consider the same things as we do as being similar between siblings, but this proves that they also think the eyes are an important point, the post doesn’t even mention the hair. 2. Sera said in past tense that her mother had a big bust. This means that she doesn’t anymore = because she became a child. Interesting new point I’ve never seen brought up in the English community before. 3. Sera seems to know that Conan is Shin’ichi. With a sibling in the same situation, it’s not strange to think she would figure it out. This point is a little pointless and doesn’t even reinforce that she’s the mother rather than the brother. 4. That a middle schooler spoke to a high schooler in imperative form means that there is a possibility she’s actually older than her. But since Sera speaks to her in a casual manner, they’re probably in a close relationship? Again doesn’t really reinforce the mother point over the brother point.

I think it’s a red herring. It’s not the first time Aoyama does it in Sherry’s Soliloquy.

Although it’s strange, I’ve just tested searching for 殺人事件 (murder case), and the recent Ebisubashi/Ebisu bridge case popped up. I don’t recall there being a murder in that case…
