I'm wondering has anyone made a Venetian mask from scratch? I've done paper mache before, but either I'm just bad at it, or I've been doing it the wrong way with other projects in the past, because I've never found it to be a good enough quality to use for making nice masks. Maybe I wasn't using the right kind of paper? I imagine newsprint is the crappy way of going about it... Since we have people from all over the world here, I thought I would ask. This seems to be the most promising instructions I've found online so far. I'm actually not using it for making a typical Venetian mask (though I will down the line!), but more for a youkai cosplay mask that has a flat front. They seem to be a lot more lightweight than wooden noh masks, so I want to avoid that route. I can update this thread in the future if anyone is curious how it goes?

I completely agree with Kyuu on this. I didn't post that yesterday, because I felt the post stood on it's own, but since it's being called into question... complete agreement. I've always considered it one of Shinichi's biggest flaws, right next to thinking there is no justification for causing the death of another. Naivety. Self Defense? Things like that. (I hope I'm making sense, I just woke up so I'm not being very eloquent.) Ran in this respect is a bit more mature, as she isn't preachy about it like he is.

The Hobbit: Peter Jackson's Production Diary
MadelineLime replied to Glass Heart's topic in Music, Movies & TV
Now that's depressing. However, there is a beacon of light, even when all other lights go out? :3 https://www.facebook.com/SaveTheHobbitSouthampton It's a shame Disney really messed with copyright laws, or this wouldn't even be a problem right now, or in the near future. On the movies, I don't know if I could boycott them outright. Two of my favorite actors are in it. D: -
Okay, after watching Natsume's Book of Friends, and then hearing random noises in your house that sound like someone walking, when the only other person in the house is in bed? Slightly unsettling.

Can I use this to whine about how they canceled Princess Jellyfish, and is now only 11 episodes and the manga is still going? ;____________;

There's nothing quite like Natsume's Book of Friends to put you in a mellow mood.

Huh, I could have sworn it was 54. I might have blanked on it because I tried to find a single page for ref on something in volume 27, and that's in the read section, but is a link to buy.

Aw man, the MangaReader pages are still down? :[ I did a quick google search and there's plenty of places. lolwhat? Considering they're the ones translating all the english versions you see everywhere, I have no idea what you're talking about. I read up through 809 there. They only have the newest versions that aren't released in english yet or something. It only goes back to volume 54.

Rurouni Kenshin Live Action Film
MadelineLime replied to Officer Kaoko's topic in Music, Movies & TV
All I can do is scream right now. Saito and Sano, holy crap. -
I feel your pain. ...and then you add to it. (Oh hay, my 100th post) I want a big convention setting to meet people, so if they're creepy I can escape easily. By that I'm mostly talking about Carpet Crawler.

I admire your determination. I refused to drink more than sips of wine or beer until I was legal drinking age. I'm not a fan of lying or misleading.

I was about to say, Azumanga Diaoh is THE BEST. I think the manga of it does a better job of the set ups, but it's still amazing.

I still don't trust this test. I'm only that far left in it because banks are evil and need to not be able to ruin the entire economy like what just happened a few years ago. :\ I took some other test not long ago that had more questions and weren't so one side or the other in their asking, it's a shame we can't mix them.

XD I was going to respond with a meme but nothing works... I should add where this started from! The Ask Takagi Tumblr! XD

I drew this and I have to share. It's making me laugh too much not to. XD I'll admit I should add some frames to make the movement of his arms a but smoother, but I don't usually do animated gifs from scratch, so it's a bit daunting! (it's on DA, too, if you're like me and fav everything, everywhere.)

I don't see how it was a joke when you were using it as a point you were making. Okay I'm editing this because I can see how it was a joke but it's just more hate on Ran in the fandom, which basically anyone not hating on Ran all the time for stupid reasons is really sick of hearing. Oh, while I'm here, I want to point out that Satou also wears the same types of clothes Ran does, only more corporate? I mean, they all wear skirts, leggings, and boots... In the latest manga chapters, Satou wore a relatively short yet loose fitting skirt in the manga, with potentially bare legs, (or light colored stockings??) and knee high boots... and it's cold enough for a large snow build up in a matter of minutes. And you have to think, Satou has to adhere to certain dress codes as a police detective. I worked in men's business wear for a bit last year, and my manager was constantly on my ass about seeming "too" hip for the clientele. I mean, I could understand my magenta high heels with the giant silver heart buckles wasn't terribly corporate, but a brushing of lace on the end of a black knee skirt isn't exactly going to make me seem like a high school girl. The point is, Ran is being unfairly putting in the spotlight for something all the female cast does. (and is not at all an actual problem)

So you've just pointed out very effectively how you don't know what you're talking about. Lolita and gothlic lolita are still very much a thing in Japan, and in some circles are spilling out into the USA. Here's a link with a lot of photos. None of these girls are old, or are dressed old. It's a fashion sect, and its frilly and full of bows and flower patterns out the ass. Also Ran has worn leggings, stockings, and all manner of things on her legs while also wearing a skirt. Not that it matters. You can't say she is both dressing like an old lady and being "frisky" (which btw is another way of saying slutty), as it is not possible to be both at once in this circumstance. I know for a fact I'm not wearing stockings in the summer, and she wears leggings in the winter a lot of the time. Sonoko is the one who goes bare legged in the winter, usually. Example? When they had that murder at the skating rink with the hunters. Makoto told her to wear pants via text. Ran has showed a bit of cleavage before. I would go find scans but MangaReader was having a problem with their DC pages all 404'ing, so it would be really difficult. I pay attention to the clothes, okay? I remember thinking, wearing black leggings and using the slippers must feel weird. If another character is proving a point about how Ran is not dressing oddly/slutty/etc, then they will come up. To dismiss the other character as being off-topic means you really don't want to actually have a discussion and are only grasping at straws to hate on Ran.

Ran and Kazuha have the same wardrobe, only Kazuha wears pants more. Am I really the only person who has noticed this?
