  1. Thanks, everyone, for the birthday wishes!

  2. Too bad about the watch page... still, it's good to have DCW back!
  3. All I can say is awesome sauce! The more material officially brought to North America, the better!
  4. Turns out the Conan panel is one of the first ones, Friday afternoon from 2:00 to 4:00! Poifect! Due to a recent crisis, I had to give up my room reservation (could no longer afford it), but fortunately I can crash and clean up at my sister's house (not too far away from the Hyatt). Lookin' forward to Youmacon big-time this year, especially since it'll be a chance to get away from all the crazy crap that's been going on in my life!
  5. Shoujo Q, from the PaniPoni Dash soundtrack (the third OP song for that series).
  6. Punch-Out!! for the Wii. Got stuck at Great Tiger, because the timing against him is far, far more frustrating than the original NES version ever was.
  7. A friend of mine suspects Agasa as well. As for me... this may be way out there in Epileptic Trees territory... but for some reason, I've started to suspect Heiji. Can you say... mindblow?
  8. I, for one, am looking forward to NCIS tomorrow. I guess I'll check out the spinoff, NCIS: Los Angeles, as well, even though I'm not exactly a big Chris O'Donnell fan. It's too bad the 9th season of Scrubs isn't starting until later in the fall.
  9. Hmm... if I saw Conan, it didn't register with me... it was before I got back into DC again, though, so I probably wasn't paying attention. I'll definitely be more observant this year! Looking forward to the panel... I just hope there aren't any conflicts. If it comes down to the DC panel and a Gundam panel, it'll be DC... but I really hope it doesn't get scheduled at the same time as the AMV Wars. I've never missed that one yet, and I hope I don't have to this year! Anyway, my 2008 pics are here.
  10. I'm from the Detroit area, myself. Born in Garden City (only because that's where the hospital I was born at was - nearly everyone else in my family in my generation - and my parents' generation - were born inside Detroit). My family moved out of the city when I was 4, but I've stayed in the area my whole life. Most of my sports allegiances are local - the Red Wings, Tigers, the University of Michigan... although I also like the Pittsburgh Penguins (making the last two Stanley Cup Finals a little awkward, although I did hope the Wings would repeat this last spring).
  11. Youmacon? This'll be my fifth straight year! Not planning on attempting to throw anything together this year. In '06, I *attempted* a (jacketless) Kyoji Kasshu, and in '08 I was a bit more successful as first-episode Amuro Ray (complete with a homemade V Project manual, and "4-Square Haro" as I called my painted-up green kickball!). I'll probably stick to civvies this year, though (which, for me, will usually consist of one of my Red Wings jerseys). I don't recall ever seeing anyone from DC to date...
  12. "kyojikasshu" comes from Kyoji Kasshu, the G Gundam character. There's just something about the tragic nature of the character that's drawn me in.
  13. My favorite opening is "Truth". I've actually liked the song well before I knew about Detective Conan, due to my interest in Two Mix spawning from their Gundam Wing themes. I'd put "Mune na Doki Doki" second. My favorite ending is "Step By Step". For an ending theme, it's pretty upbeat, and very catchy. On a side note, anyone ever listen to the full-length version of "Nazo"? It struck me that the final notes of the song sounded remarkably like the closing notes of "Oh Sherrie" by Steve Perry.
  14. Hello! My name's Rob. I'm from southeast Michigan (the greater Detroit area), and I've been watching anime in one form or another for over 30 years now! (I'll be 35 at the end of the year, so that makes up nearly my whole life!) I was first introduced to the series by way of the [adult swim] broadcasts of the Case Closed dub, but after the network dropped the show, I went on to other things... only to come back to the series with a vengeance this year. The Lupin III crossover special, in particular, helped bring me back - I just happened to be on a Lupin kick at the time. I haven't picked up the manga yet, mainly due to cost considerations - it's less expensive to rent the DVDs from Netflix or stream the shows online (the latter being how I found DCW, of course). I do hope to get the chance to get the manga, though. Other anime I'm a fan of: various Gundam series, Azumanga Daioh, PaniPoni Dash!, Excel Saga, The Irresponsible Captain Tylor, Martian Successor Nadesico, Lupin III, Armored Trooper VOTOMS, Dominion Tank Police, Tenchi Muyo! (the first OAV series and Tenchi Universe series), Love Hina, and Cowboy Bebop, among others. I also still enjoy American cartoons. I grew up on the original Transformers, both the cartoon and the Marvel comics (I was even lucky enough to have a store that imported the Marvel UK series), as well as the G.I. Joe comics (the cartoon always bothered me, even as a ten year old). I've enjoyed recent series such as Danny Phantom, Avatar, and Kim Possible (Shego is actually a personal favorite of mine). I look forward to being a part of this community!
