I never got it why would she provoke someone's hatred. At least, one could feel indifference towards her, since she isn't a mysterious character, but hatred?

The series is really good, even though there is no common plot like the Black Organization in Detective Conan, the cases in my opinion are well done, better than many in DC because they usually include at least 3 episodes, so there is more room for plot development. Also, I personally found it harder to guess the murderers. Not saying DC is worse though, it's just different.

I really like this pairing. Ran is one of my favorite characters ever, I really would like to have such a friend in real life, and even Shinichi whom I sometimes criticize changes completely when he is with Ran. Also, the childhood friendship element is very nice.

Detective Conan's target audience: old people who read DC?
Hobgoblin2012 replied to DetectiveConanfan's topic in General
I am 26, but not only me but even my mother watches Conan. I don't know if it originally was intended for children, but even it's the case, I think there is nothing wrong in not severing the ties with childhood. it's a good period of life. But anyway, I don't think DC is just for children as the plots are usually about a "bad" victim and a desperate, pitiful murderer, not a situation in "black and white", I still have a hard time to understand how Conan can judge so harshly THIS type of criminals. IMO, the "all murders are the same" stuff is just nonsense, not only from the point of view of morality, but even from the point of view of the law. -
Conan has flaws, however. I agree with you that his desire not to let Ran go isn't a sign of egoism, but of love and fear to lose her, but he isn't perfect IMO. In my opinion he exaggerates in not showing pity to criminals who acted out of despair because the so-called "victims" who ruined their lives weren't punished by the law. However, Ran is one of my favorite characters and if she likes Shinichi, then he mustn't be that bad, so I can stand him as well But if he doesn't change his attitude at least a little, he will never be one of my favorite characters by himself, as much as I may like the Shinichi x Ran pairing.

What do you think Conan would do if he traveled around the world and saw a person to break a law that doesn't make any sense, considering his loyalty to the law? For For example, in France it's illegal to call and address a pig as Napoleon http://www.divinecaroline.com/entertainment/most-absurd-laws-around-world Also, there is a law in Israel according to which it is illegal for a chicken to lay eggs on Fridays and Saturdays. http://www.stupidlaws.com/laws/countries/israel/

I like childhood friend love stories much more than ones about people who met as adults (have already said this in other topics though).

I don't really like Shinichi very much by himself (even though I am a fan of the Shinichi x Ran pairing) but, if I have to choose between those 2, Shinichi is way better than Kaito Kid in my opininon. Kid is annoying as hell, the fact he never went to jail makes him feel and behave like he is the king of this world. A short jail sentence would do him good in my opinion.

Just to make people laugh: There is a fan project made with the "Lord of the rings" movie trilogy in Russia. This fan nicknamed Goblin made a sort of one-voice dubbing (the sort used for TV news about other countries) and inserted absurd, hilarious quotes instead of everything the characters were normally saying. For example, Gimli started speaking with a Georgian accent, Legolas with an Estonian one, the dialogue between Gollum's 2 personalities was transformed into a discussion about football (one was talking with an Ukrainian accent, the other in normal Russian). When somebody shot with a bow, sounds of a gunshot was inserted. Elrond became Agent Smith from "Matrix" (since it's the same actor). Another quote: when in the 2 part Aragorn asks Legolas to look what's happening in the distance, there is a script saying "for your consideration" appearing at the bottom of the screen, and Legolas answers "there is a suspicious writing always popping up in the lower part of the screen. It isn't in Russian" The same thing was done to "Star Wars: episode 1" where they didn't limit themselves to substitute what the characters are saying, but also modified some of the the images: for example, Darth Sidious has Bin Laden's face, the the Trade Federation Viceroy is paid with sweets like chocolate for his invasion at Naboo and the final fighting against Darth Maul is accompanied by Lezginka music. The sad thing is that for the most part only Russians could understand why it's funny, because there were too many quotes from Russian or Soviet movies. Otherwise, I would have made English subtitles for it. Elrond as Agent Smith: Darth Sidious as Bin Laden: Are there any such parodies in other countries? The closest thing to this I saw were some cartoons and movie segments dubbed with the Italian journalist Germano Mosconi's voice (he was once filmed when he was angry because he continuously had to stop and start his speeches all over again because there were problems with the cameras. That was, however, not so funny in my opinion, because he mostly said blasphemy.

The probable ending you'd give for each Black Organization member.

As much as I am annoyed by the theoretical pairing Conan x Haibara, I don't wish her death. I think she deserves to start her life all over again. I agree that staying in child form and living the most innocent period of life again might be the best solution. -
No, I in fact want to see what you are saying, I am one of the strongest supporters of the Shinichi x Ran pairing, that was one of the main reasons I started watching the series. I love childhood friend romances in general, and Ran is one of my favorite characters.
-
I think it's just he can't stand imagining Ran with somebody else, I couldn't either, if I were in such a situation, that would turn me crazy.
-
I hope so. It's just I am a pessimist and always see bad things

IHKF (I didn't insert the quote because for some reason it doesn't show up in my post, maybe it's a bug): I think Ayumi has no chance mostly because, as far as I know, the Ayumi x Conan fans are not that many compared to Haibara's and Ran's. As cynical as it may be, I think popular series as Conan often become about money and if Conan gets together with Ayumi, many people simply won't buy it. I am not saying I approve this kind of logic, I just think that unfortunately it's the law of the market. I also think it would be strange for Gosho to decide to put a 17-years-old with a 7-years old. As for Genta, I didn't mean to insult him. In fact he is my favorite character in the series (as weird as it may seem), closely followed by Ran, the cat Goro and Yamamura. I think he will be perfectly fine as single.
-
Really hope you are right. I am 100% sure too Ayumi has no chance, as for Haibara, I am afraid her fans could make pressure on Gosho if they become too many and it will be commercially profitable to make a Haibara ending, but I hope Gosho has enough strength of character not to give in. Anyway, I would prefer Ayumi with Mitsuhiko (Genta can marry his bowl of eel soup ).

I wonder what would be Kaito Kid's reaction if he were attacked by the serial killer named Albert FISH

I am Russian, but I live in Italy for almost 13 years.

I often feel depressed because the concept of "happy ending" in fiction and that of "childhood friend romance" aren't liked by many people in the modern society. That's worsened by the fact that people often insult those concepts without even giving the "why". Also I get sometimes depressed when people are lied about and aren't able to prove they were telling the truth (happened to me once).
-
I'm not sure, but I think Gosho only specifically confirmed Agasa not being the boss.
-
I personally would have preferred if it was somebody who hasn't yet appeared because I would feel sad if somebody I already know turns out to be the scumbag n.1 of the series. However, Gosho said it's somebody who has already appeared. Oh, well. I just hope it isn't Yusaku, Yukiko or Eri, as it would be a mortal hit on Conan's or Ran's heart, and also because I really hope Kogoro and Eri will re-build their family, it would be sad if all her love for him was just a mask. I also don't want Yoko to be the boss, because in this case I wouldn't be able to take the Organization seriously anymore. On the other hand, it would be quite funny and amusing, also if the boss is Yamamura.
-
Maybe it seems retarded, but my favorite quotes are "Oi, oi!" by Conan and "MWAHAHAHAHA!!!" by Kogoro (his first voice only).
-
I don't really have a favorite method of murder, but my favorite case is "Furinkazan" because it's long enough, I didn't guess the murderer and the murderer was a real evil scumbag, unlike in most cases.
-
This one was the most bizarre one I think. This discussion reminds me of a live-action detective series where in an episode a man was killed using a catapult loaded with wine bottles.

I found out about "Detective Conan" casually while I was searching for another anime series called "Future boy Conan". Since then I have been "addicted" (now to a lesser extent) because of the desire to finally see how the story will end, and the fact the ending is nowhere to be seen is quite frustrating.
-
I really hope you are right. However, looking at how the things are going, it wouldn't surprise me if Gosho died of old age before finishing the manga, and who knows what his successors might put there instead of the originally intended ending. Just to make an example: there was this manga author Osamu Tezuka who wrote a series known in English as "Kimba the white lion" and made an anime out of it. The original ending was a sad one: the lion main character dies to save his human friend. However, in the anime he did change the ending to a happy one, probably to give the viewers a break considering how dark and full of deaths the 2 season of the anime was. Then he died, and other anime makers made another anime full-length movie where they put the original tragic ending (probably they just wanted to have the last word). What's the worst thing, is that the lion not just died to save his friend, but the friend actually survived by EATING the lion with his permission and making a tent out of his hide. I don't know, maybe some Japanese viewers who eat even dolphins can handle such an ending, but I definitely can't (before somebody starts an argument accusing me to be disrespectful to the Japanese, I repeat that I said SOME viewers, I am not labeling all Japanese as dolphin-eaters). By the way, why can't I post smileys? I click on the button, but nothing happens.
