Nope. It has to satisfy all values of y in that range. If y is 10, then the remainder of 1 (x-1) over 10 is 1, while 3 (x+1) over 10 is 3.

Simple problem: x is the smallest nonnegative number that satisfies the ff: 1) x-1, when divided by a number y wherin 2<=y<=10, the remainder is y-1; and 2) x+1, when divided by a number y wherin 2<=y<=10, the remainder is always 1 What is x?

Questions for manga readers that have read up to 850ish range. The answer would most probably be speculation, but I'd like to know what you think. (WARNING: possible spoilers... the spoiler tag indicated in the first post doesn't seem to work for me >.<)
