so... the website "animecons.com" has listings for conventions world-wide... it's a comprehensive list, but I'm pretty sure it's not exhaustive (and I've only gotten through April and May so far, I hope to get through the rest in the next week or two) if you know the dates of conventions not listed on that website, you're welcome to add them to our calendar!

Hi everyone! I just wanted to let you know that since my idea was approved, I started working on adding anime conventions to our site calendar! What's an anime convention, you ask? Well, you've come to the right thread! Anime conventions are a one-stop shop where you can meet your favorite actors and artists, listen to cool music, watch new and old anime, attend panels run by fans of the same shows you like, see people walking around dressed up in cosplay, buy swag that you can't find in your average store, and view and buy art that people just like you have made! There are conventions happening around the world almost every weekend. I've added the city of each one to its calendar entry, and more information can be found at that particular convention's website, or at animecons.com, which will probably then point you to the specific site ;; If all works out and there's enough interest in this endeavor, perhaps we can start arranging DC World meetups at ones we know people will be going to!

I had this great idea this morning that we could add more stuff to the calendar, besides people's birthdays and special DC events what do you all think about adding the dates of anime conventions? if it works out, we could even set up a DC World meetup at some of them (I only go to one or two a year) I know of sites that have comprehensive listings, so getting the information won't be hard, and then if people decide they want to go, they'll be able to know when it is and where to register... the only thing is that it would need to be maintained, but I think it's something simple enough that I can handle in my spare time thoughts?

welcome back into the fold, and welcome to DC World

Detective Conan World's One Year Anniversary!

happy to be part of such a great site let's keep up the good work!!! -
it hasn't come up in the DC universe, it's only from MK
-
it has nothing to do with Anglicizing the names, and everything to do with licensing and copyright... to the best of my knowledge
-
his father is gone... in MK, by the time we meet Kaito-kun, it's just him and his mother... but it has been made clear that his father was the first KID, and taught Kaito all he knows
-
yeah, it's really close to the beginning... and monsipogi probably didn't need to include the hint

So... having thought up the "fan works" section of these boards, and having not contributed much to them, I thought it was about time I linked you all to my profile on fanfiction.net http://www.fanfiction.net/u/524129/ most of the stories are from Detective Conan, with a couple stragglers from other series before I discovered our favorite chibi meitantei... the DC stories are as follows: Where in the World is Kaitou KID? - this story has since been left incomplete, with very little intention of finishing. I may go back to it sometime in the distant future, but for now the creativity to write KID's riddles escapes me The Reason - my one and only DC songfic, also a one-shot Late Night Science - one-shot featuring Haibara How Ran Learned the Trick - one-shot, spoof of "How Watson Learned the Trick" House of Horrors - continuation of the haunted house episode, featuring the Detective Boys Hagane no Tantei (Fullmetal Detective) - crossover with Fullmetal Alchemist, featuring poisoned Edward; on hold with intent on completion Call in the Reinforcements - one-shot crossover with Tenchi Muyo as a challenge fic, featuring Haibara and Washu April Showers Bring... Outside Help? - crossover with Castle, featuring Castle and Shinichi; status hazy, with intent on completion

that's pretty cool, but I'd discourage you from putting it in your signature, as even the scaled down version takes up the entire height of my window
-
that's pretty cool... I hope we're able to add more swag to it, and not just DVD's, manga, and posters... don't get me wrong, that stuff is great, but I tend to prefer having the manga in my hand the same day I purchase it, so having an opportunity for some different kinds of stuff would just be amazing

I heard the English dub before watching it with the original audio, and I still favor the Japanese dialogue (not least of which because of things I discovered when I went back to the English dub after having been away from it for several years)
-
I like that case too, but Hakuba isn't just from movie 10 (and I heard that his appearance in movie 10 wasn't really him...?), he's from the series "Magic Kaito" in general
-
do we have a discography on the wiki? if not, that would be a phenomenal addition
-
it might help a little... there are words I've picked up because they were said in an isolated context (making the subtitle obviously mean that word)... but having a structured program will probably be better, because then you are able to start learning about grammar structures and particle words that don't quite exist in English
-
I have a Nintendo DS Lite, so I figured I could pick up a copy of "My Japanese Coach" and go from there... I got to lesson 30, and then set it aside... I'd like to go back to it, because I felt like I was learning, but I don't know when that'll happen I think part of it might depend on whether you know any other languages... I'm not fluent in anything but English, unfortunately, but when I was little I was started on Hebrew, and later French... so the language learning skills are there, it's just a matter of sitting down and doing it. If you haven't been exposed to other languages, it would most likely prove more beneficial to have a live teacher

why did you just make a duplicate of your own topic? and for the record, amazon had a sale on anime (I don't know if it's still running), and I bought all six movies that have been processed so far... the season boxes are included in the sale too, but I didn't get them I wish they had other products, like the fabric poster and keychain which were included in the re-release of season 1 (the original release was the first disc, and then started into eps after the diplomat murder case... they went through all of season 4, and then went back to the beginning, and put out a new copy of the first disc in a 2-disc box with the second disc of season 1)
-
oh, yeah, gotta bump something off my list to make a spot for Kimi ni Todokoe ;;
-
I want to guess on the first one, and the second one is really obvious to me... but I want to give other people a chance
-
megavideo tends to have a time limit of ~75 minutes, but I heard you can get around that by pausing the video after clicking "play", letting it fully buffer, and then going up to the file menu and choosing "work offline" (of course, don't forget to change it back to "work online" afterwards ; )
-
I doubt the English subbed version will be any earlier than it was last year, since DCTP does a really good job with their work, and they wait for the DVD to be released in Japan before encoding it
-
oh, yeah, the second one is from "Moonlight Sonata Murder Case"... such a good episode
-
and where would you suggest putting this link? if the chat was on IRC, then it could be in the channel subject line... but I don't know about CarpetCrawler, but I don't keep the link on my clipboard for easy access (whatever's on my clipboard is the last thing I copied and pasted...) the link that you're suggesting seems like it would have to be size 24 or bigger, for people to notice it no offense... PS. I walked away, and then realized how snarky that was... I'm not really that mean, I'm sorry
