  1. We've yet to see Shuichi/Subaru and/or Masumi interact with Shukichi during the present—maybe Gosho meant Masumi will call Shukichi "kichi-nii" in the present, and Shukichi will call Shuichi/Subaru "nii-san" in the present.
  2. Apologies for the double post, and the necroing (if that's the proper term) of this thread after over half a year. I forgot to consider Shukichi's shogi outfit from 847–849/731–732 (that he's wearing in the interview after the case) as a possible candidate for what the person contacting Masumi was wearing in 860/745—as far as I can tell, it's the best match for the sleeve of the person contacting Masumi during 860/745 (unfortunately, the only looks we get at it are on a phone, with the lighting all messed up).
  3. Gosho did, fairly recently, say that he could do more than 100 volumes. Question is, how many more?
  4. What I'm saying is that her mother shrunk, and, not long after, she saw Shinichi/Conan at Wimbledon on TV—that was what led to her doing the research you're referring to.
  5. I thought it was weird that he changed subjects so quickly... so he was just subtly hinting Shinichi, huh? Maybe Gosho could make a joke out of that, if this flashback takes place just a bit after the 570s one. Maybe her comment about seeing his soccer skills on TV was because she was watching Wimbledon, live, and saw him kick that tennis ball at Hades Sabara—the cameras probably panned up to that scene because Minerva Glass launched that ball up there, to begin with. Maybe she saw him in that moment, and immediately recognized him. Thus, we may have an event sequence like this—Mary was shrunk in the U.K., Masumi saw Shinichi/Conan, and then they went to Japan so Masumi could contact him, and they could find out how to remedy Mary's situation (and it also may be that Mary was living with Masumi from the start (that she was in Masumi's apartment in 775–777/656–657 and 796–800/671–674, and we just couldn't see her).
  6. In Shinichi Kudo's Childhood Adventure (570–573/472–473), Yusaku says to Yukiko, in one scene, "Why don't we go to the beach?" Perhaps the upcoming flashback case takes place just after Shinichi's Childhood Adventure. Perhaps Ran went with Shinichi (and probably both Yusaku and Yukiko) because Kogoro and Eri had just split up.
  7. Here are the 971 Text Spoilers, translated by Yunnie Chan:
  8. This needs to be addressed first: "Perilous?" I'm sorry, but that's just hyperbolic. I don't know how you came to the conclusion that I'm wedded to/clingy with "Rumi is Asaka," (or that Meitantei is wedded to/clingy with "Mary is Asaka") like I'm going to resent Gosho if he doesn't do it, or I'm actually going to be hurt. Like I won't be able to see the writing on the wall—those people you mention, here... are they still insisting that Shuichi is Bourbon, unable to accept the truth, saying that if their theory is wrong, then DC's not worthy of being read by them anymore? Is that what you think of me or Meitantei? I certainly hope not. I'm the one who doesn't mind (and has even defended) Gosho's "vanilla" plot choices. I like the Bourbon arc, from Red, White, Yellow and the Detective Boys to Scarlet Showdown. I don't know why you've even begun to worry (Seriously, worry? Again, hyperbolic.)—I don't care if I end up having picked the wrong theory (and who knows? I might change my mind, as this arc progresses), because I'll just move on. Bottom line—please don't think that I'm wedded to/clingy with "Rumi is Asaka," (or that Meitantei is wedded to/clingy with "Mary is Asaka") because we're not. End of discussion. All I'll say is that, unless you have a quote from Gosho in which he says, "Vermouth knew who Ai was from before the Four Porsches case," or this is unambiguously revealed to be the case later on in the story, this, to me, is just your interpretation of what Vermouth knew, during the Vermouth arc.
  9. While he has been right with them, Shinichi's/Conan's initial suspicions/impressions/theories are... well... not always on the mark (Shuichi is a BO mole in the FBI; Eisuke is a BO agent; Rena Mizunashi killed Hidemi Hondo, then had plastic surgery to look like her; the CIA were looking for Kir at Haido Central Hospital). Sometimes, he needs additional info to realize his thoughts, initially, were lacking—that's when he gets to the truth, in those times when he's initially wrong. We're on case #21 of the Rum arc, right now. Other than the Sherry/Haibara arc and the Cell Phone arc (both 17 cases), all but one of the arcs were over twice as longer than that (Kir arc: 37 cases; Intro/Conan arc: 50 cases; Vermouth arc: 58 cases; Bourbon arc: 80 cases). In the cases of the Vermouth, Kir and Bourbon arcs, it took well beyond Case #21 until Shinichi/Conan had all the info he needed to reach the correct conclusion—I don't think it'll be any different, here (meaning, Shinichi/Conan will re-assess this initial conclusion of his at a later date and come to a different conclusion). Maybe he did. We only see pictures of the mirror, and thus, the letters he didn't cut out. Maybe that's how he sought to get past the "There's no W in 'Put on Mascara'" problem. Perilous? If Asaka really is Rum and is not Rumi, then I'm wrong, and that's that... it'll have been my third choice, which I considered unlikely, but possible. Currently, right now, yes—she's not a priority for those engaging in theory-crafting. But with how slow things have been, the past 9 years, I think we are going to see that moment come, most likely during this arc.
  10. But it's strange, isn't it? A blend of Bourbon and Rye called "Forgiven?" At least for DC fans, it's something to be amused at. But yeah, if Gosho's gonna make Rei hate Shuichi less, it's probably not gonna be because of this.
  11. Any changes made in the volume versions of the files, as compared to the raw versions? Either way, it seems we both think that Asaka's more likely to be a woman than a man (maybe Gaito Hotta was right about Asaka's gender, just for the wrong reason).
  12. From what I know, after Rei Amuro accidentally killed Lalah Sune, he and Char Aznable were bitter enemies for the rest of their lives. Unlike Shuichi, Char was an antagonist, who even tried to destroy the Earth. While Rei/Tooru/Bourbon is less heroic than Rei Amuro, they're both protagonists, rather than antagonists (in Rei's/Tooru's/Bourbon's case, though, it was a change in status—he was portrayed as an antagonist through the entirety of when he was the titular character of an arc). As for DC, there's actually a blend of Rye (Shuichi's codename) and Bourbon (Rei's/Tooru's codename) called "Forgiven" (http://drinks.seriouseats.com/2013/09/wild-turkey-forgiven-new-bourbon-rye-blend-review.html), so I don't think Rei/Tooru is always going to hate Shuichi like he does, right now (at the very least, he's eventually going to stop wanting to kill Shuichi).
