Huh? Where did the suggestion that Koji wasn't killed by APTX 4869 come from? The cause of death, described by the articles Shinichi/Conan was reading, seemed to be unknown—that's consistent with APTX 4869 fulfilling its assassination purpose. And I don't think that someone as meticulous and smart as Shiho/Ai would mix up lists.

Oh—when she thought, "they," she meant the BO, rather than her parents. That's a pretty harsh word to use. Isn't Vodka better suited to it? But, in spite of past mistakes, Shuichi chooses to trust Andre with this responsibility—that was my point.

These past 2 cases have been the biggest development in the Rum arc that hasn't been a lingering Bourbon arc question—2016 so far has been nothing but plot. The tangent you speak of has really been the Rum arc, in general, with all the Bourbon arc remnants that remain unanswered. Shuichi is well aware of the point you bring up—what does it say about him that he continues to trust Andre? You also have to take into consideration the dumbing down of the FBI besides Shuichi, after the Vermouth arc, considering Andre's most recent error. Question is, when are we getting the 17-years-ago flashback case? Next case, or two-three+ cases from now? Probably the latter, but one can never know. Seems like Shuichi wouldn't have joined the FBI if it weren't for the events of that night, nearly two decades prior. Since Andre is in play, something may happen between him and Shiho/Ai—something that will bring her closer to her confrontation with Shuichi/Subaru. Shiho/Ai must be referring to Silver Bullet on page 4—her parents wanted her to make that "dream drug" of theirs.

I hadn't considered Silver Bullet… it should've been the first consideration. Better put all the cutting verbs and sharp objects together and start plugging them in, then. And the bodyguard was the one to carry it out? What about Amanda, herself? Who was she? Why was she silenced?

One could argue jumping the gun before actually seeing it in the manga, but, in these cases and at this point, I have no objections if you do.

So he never met Koji, but merely heard of him, and became inspired by him that way? Since she's never spoken about this other drug, and then didn't elaborate upon it when it came up—maybe she's lying about it. The APTX is clearly not what Gin forced down Shinichi's throat, since he refers to it as new (at the very least, he is ignorant that it had been used 17 years ago)—what if the drug Shiho/Ai made (not APTX 4869) that's first use was likely upon Shinichi was, in fact, a drug that would shrink those forced to ingest it. What if she was pretending to work on APTX 4689, while really making this new drug that wouldn't kill anyone, as was her parent's intention?

My two cents: So Koji died 17 years beforehand? That would make Shukichi 11. Just how long has he been in the Haneda family? What if the drug Shiho/Ai made is the one that can shrink people, and APTX 4869 is invariably lethal?

Well, this was apparently making the rounds on the spoiler c-box and elsewhere, but not here, so...

Koji's name was on the APTX list when Shiho/Ai and the BO went to check Shinichi's house for the first time—I assume this was not too long after the events of File 1—this means Koji had already been given the drug, at that point. Ran says that it "hasn't been a year" since her visit to the aquarium with Shinichi—which must've been not too long before the events of File 1—and she remembered this in File 882. This likely means 7-10 months (my estimate) passed between the events of File 1 and the events of File 882. Quite some time had passed since then when Masumi arrived enrolled at Teitan High just before the events of File 768. I find it more likely that Masumi and MG would've come to Japan immediately after the latter shrank—waiting nearly a year to approach Shinichi/Conan when Masumi clearly believed Conan was Shinichi from their first meeting doesn't make much sense to me.

At any rate, Koji Haneda is likely the one who was born with the last name Haneda, and then, at some point, Shukichi became part of the family, and his name changed, accordingly. The "how" and "why" need to be addressed. I would say what happened to Mr. Akai shortly after Masumi's birth (though it's never been established how long it was between her birth and his apparent death—within days/months, or 1-3 years?) had at least something to do with Shukichi's name change, though why it wasn't changed until he graduated high school has yet to be explained.

Guilty as charged.

Shinichi was the first person Gin used APTX 4869 on. Vermouth could still have used it on Koji when he came to America, for whatever reason may be revealed. And when I meant Golden Apple reference, I meant a reference to Vermouth, not Shinichi. And so it does—my bad. We'll have to wait and see how things pan out with this.

It wouldn't be in the rest of the manga—these events are referenced here, and that's it.

And then Kawanakajima.

Actually, that Ventriloquist case has been replaced with Kamaitachi, on the schedule.
