Yes, and one can argue it wasn't the Bourbon arc because Bourbon didn't yet exist when Shuichi was "shot in the head." Point taken, but how hard is it to type "Detective Conan File 605/Episode 501?" If people are too lazy for that, then I can just provide a link to the proper page.

Movie 20: The Darkest Nightmare
DCUniverseAficionado replied to Black Demon's topic in Movies and OAVs
The nature of Rum's appearance will depend upon what's going on in the manga, by April 16th (I think, by then, we'll be in the 950s-960s). It could very well be that these eyes are the eyes of a character who will only appear in this movie. Also, if this is Rum, is this Rum's true appearance, or is a disguise? People may be able to have one eye be one color and the other another color (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heterochromia_iridum), but yellow? It may be for the coolness factor, but I've never seen someone with an eye color like this person's right eye has. -
Movie 20: The Darkest Nightmare

Technically, even that was just confirmation—Subaru had been shown to be Shuichi from almost the start. After Mystery Train, the theories that Subaru was a real person, and Shuichi's brother, were still around. After Dimensional Sniper? Nope. -
Actually, that joke was from File 605/Episode 501. But, still, calling Scotch one... yeesh.

Explain, if you would. -
Indeed. Well, he's the Amuro Ray to Shuichi's Char Aznable—he has to be on a similar level, if not the same level, to be considered his rival. He was hinted to be BO (793–821), hinted to be PSB (804–808), revealed to be BO (823), and finally revealed to be PSB (897), all in that order.
-
That's the part I was asking about, specifically—the conclusion that anyone in this series is a lolicon/shotacon is pretty far-fetched.
-
I completely agree. The reason the FBI, without Shuichi and Shinichi/Conan, seem unprepared to face the BO is because Gosho decided, after the Vermouth arc, that all the protagonists except for Shinichi/Conan and Shuichi couldn't be both good and smart—the BO people had to be smarter. Before they were revealed to be FBI, Jodie, James and Andre were all very competent.

Shuukichi Haneda Discussion Thread
DCUniverseAficionado replied to Chekhov MacGuffin's topic in Manga series
Why? Gosho could've simply showed us it was Shukichi who was in contact with Masumi. Instead, he shows us a bunch of strong hints—you know, strong hints like the ones he showed us before... the ones that tried to make us think Jodie was Vermouth (270–428/227–344), Andre was a BO spy (599–603/497–500), or Subaru was Bourbon (638–821/510–702). Why not just show him putting Yumi on hold in File 929 and show him actually talking to Masumi? Instead, it just implies that Shukichi put Yumi on hold so he could talk to Masumi—what's the point of that if not to try to throw us off? Since Shuichi is supposed to be dead, and, thus, shouldn't be talking to Masumi at all, who better to pretend to be than their own brother, someone who could speak with Masumi, and, thus, no one would question it—plus, she could just rattle off things about Shukichi if she's asked about him. She's got no reason to tell Shinichi/Conan that she's really in contact with Shuichi—Shuichi hasn't told her where he is or what he's doing, which is why she doesn't know that he's working with Shinichi/Conan, leaving her no reason to tell him. -
Didn't say you were implying that we should or that you do support it. And the theory that James Black is BO? What do you think of that?
-
Why?

I think she had plenty of good opportunities to kill Shiho/Ai if she not only knew that she'd been shrunk, but that she was also hanging around with the likewise-shrunken Shinichi, and all this from the very start of the Vermouth arc (238–242/176–178). If she stole Kogoro's case files just after the bus hijacking (287–289/230–231), and returned them on Valentine's Day (331–334/266–268), I would assume she would've been able to ID all the FBI agents well before The Four Porsches (420–422/338–339) and also able to pinpoint Shiho's/Ai's places of residence through various inquiries. She could've gone after Shiho/Ai when Shinichi/Conan and Agasa were out (380–383/309–311)—she could've also bugged the place, before said case, after finding out where it was, which would've allowed her to know that there was no one at home. She even could've tried during the school play murder (255–257/190–191) if she realized that nobody but Shiho/Ai could've impersonated Conan. This is why I don't think she figured out Shiho's/Ai's circumstances and location until The Four Porsches, when she saw her as Ariade—she then bugged the place, and waited for the right time to strike. Still, in either case, the FBI should've just caught her, at any point between, let's say 243/172 and 428/344—it's not as if they had any shortage of opportunities to do so. Also, is your post a reply to mine, meant to convey the idea that James Black could be BO and is just waiting for the right time?

[SPOILER DISCUSSION] File 936-938 Girl Band
DCUniverseAficionado replied to DCUniverseAficionado's topic in Manga series
Uh... Diogyenes Club? I knew he was in government, but he's far more involved in Sherlock. (At least because he appears often, as opposed to Conan Doyle's novels) So Shuichi is Mycroft, in terms of him being a government agent, and Sherlock in terms of doing work in the field. Shukichi is Sherlock, in terms of not being in the government, and Mycroft, in terms of occasional involvement in general affairs. We still need confirmation on what he knows about his family's situation (especially that of his brother and mother). If he's not involved, now, then I hope he gets involved, once it's confirmed that he's the middle brother. -

That's right. As for Shukichi's awareness of his family's situation (especially that of his brother and mother)... we'll have to wait until it's confirmed that he's the middle brother. Since I've been convinced that Shuichi/Subaru is the one who's been in contact with Masumi, with her telling everyone that Shukichi's the one she's been in contact with, what Shukichi knows is still in question. -
Andre has seen Shiho/Ai... and he knows that Kir is a spy AND, now, that Shuichi faked his death. Rum just wouldn't sit on that information and do nothing. I've heard theories that James Black is BO—but I don't take those seriously, because it's trying to explain something (the FBI being outclassed by the BO without Shinichi/Conan and Shuichi from the end of the Vermouth arc, onwards) that already has an explanation... Gosho chose to make the BO more intimidating by dumbing down the FBI instead of simply making the BO smarter. Plus, not only has he seen Shiho/Ai, but knows who she is—there's no way Rum would sit on that information for over 500 Files/450 Episodes. (It's made clear the FBI knows Shiho/Ai is Sherry in File 435/Episode 346, when she's offered a position in the witness protection program, and both Jodie and James, himself, make a reference to her in File 622/Episode 509 and File 677/Episode 563—they know she's Sherry. If he's BO, then why hasn't he told Anokata?) In fact, anyone who's seen Shiho/Ai and hasn't done something immediately after (As Shiho/Ai suggested, in relation to Hyoue, in File 925), they can be eliminated as a BO suspect. This has precedence—Vermouth didn't go after Shiho/Ai until she saw her as Ariade in File 422/Episode 339. Up to that point, while disguised as Ariade, she didn't see Shiho/Ai, which explained, then, why Shuichi wasn't out to kill Shiho/Ai. This also explained why Subaru was really Shuichi.

Actually, Shukichi solved the case in his intro before Shinichi/Conan (File 847–File 849/Episode 731 and Episode 732)—it was his words that ultimately led to Shinichi/Conan solving the case. Masumi could've described Shuichi as strong and Shukichi as smart because Shukichi wasn't exceptional in the physical realm, rather than because Shuichi wasn't as smart as Shukichi. If Shukichi just solved both cases on his own, then Shinichi/Conan would have nothing to do, right? I don't think Gosho wants that. Shuichi/Subaru giving Shinichi/Conan the hint to solve a case—just like Shukichi did—(File 812–File 814/Episode 690 and Episode 691) was followed by an action sequence, and Shuichi/Subaru didn't follow Shinichi/Conan, Ran, Sonoko and Masumi to the scene. Not many people can reason on par with Shinichi/Conan, and let's not forget that Shuichi/Subaru also reasoned on par—not ahead of—with Shinichi/Conan (File 638–File 640/Episode 510 and 511; File 664–File 666/Episode 542 and Episode 543), just like Shukichi did in File 899–File 902/Episode 785 and Episode 786. That's one time ahead of and two times on par with Shinichi/Conan for Shuichi/Subaru and one time ahead of and one time on par with Shinichi/Conan for Shukichi. Gosho keeps dragging this middle brother question on, thus keeping us in the dark about Shukichi's relationship with his family. We don't know about the extent of his knowledge about his brother's or their mother's situation. He probably is the DC equivalent of Mycroft Holmes, though—him wanting to end that match with Tanimori early so he could go to his wife makes him differ from Mycroft, in that respect—he prefers not to engage in the activities that his brother and sister do. If he's kept Yumi waiting so long, then his family probably experienced similar things. Still, their reaction was probably the same as Yumi's—annoyed, exasperated and frustrated, but ultimately, he was worth all that. -
Also, Gin and Anokata were apparently "mulling over" Hidemi's/Rena's/Kir's recovery in File 603/Episode 500 and made the plan, themselves, for her to kill Shuichi to prove her loyalty. It's either that all of Rum's physical characteristics (including the prosthetic eye) are just the characteristics of body doubles, with one of all their eyes appearing prosthetic, or Rum really does have no eye and/or has at least one of the physical characteristics. Depends if Gosho's September 2014 hint was talking about Lum or the actual Rum. If Rum has already appeared, then Taka'aki/Koumei and Heizo are the leading suspects, for me, as they haven't seen Shiho/Ai—however, they have seen Shinichi's/Conan's deductive abilities, Taka'aki even more so, and one of them being Rum would lead to problems... Taka'aki with Kansuke and Yui, and Heizo with his family, and his subordinates in the police. The old man who led Andre to blow Shuchi's cover (File 607/Episode 502) is a candidate, as well. Even if he's not, though, that old man's identity needs to be revealed.
