  1. "Being ignorant is not so much a shame, as being unwilling to learn." --Benjamin Franklin
  2. Apologies for the double post but it's been over a month and I really want to bring this thread back,, Stephen Hawking recently shared his new theory about black holes. Here's a really nice ELI5 post explaining it in layman's terms. article here: x Recently the sumatran rhino was declared extinct in the wild in Malaysia. In total there are less than 100 sumatran rhinos living in the wild. There is a number of them living in captivity though and one of them is named Harapan. Harapan's currently the only sumatran rhino on display at a zoo and, though not for much longer, is currently the only one in the western hemisphere. He's currently living at the Cincinnati Zoo. Due to the sumatran rhino's low numbers though, before the end of the year he'll be sent to the Sumatran Rhino Sanctuary in Indonesia so he can find a mate. There currently isn't a date for when he'll be leaving the States but the Sanctuary is pushing for it to happen sometime this fall. articles: x x

  6. people who talk unnecessarily loud
  7. I wonder if when news crews visit poor/terrorized areas or places recently hit by a natural disaster they aid the people they interview or even just people in the general area like on the news tonight the one guy interviewed a kid that had his right hand and left foot "amputated" by ISIS and because he couldn't go to a hospital his wounds got infected and... they helped him right? They didn't just hear his story and "well, sucks to be you kid. we're gonna go eat at some really fancy restaurant now, have a nice day" and leave right?

  11. oh thank god sorry if I worried you haha Just better safe than sorry y'know? And yeah leaving a young kid with a knife probably wasn't your parents's brightest moment but it's good you're ok! c:
  12. Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa, gonna have to stop you there. To preface, I don't really know you. I don't know if you've been lying about your age, or any of the things you said, or etc but regardless of whether or not your words hold any water, I can't not throw my two cents in on this. Assuming you aren't lying, don't do that. Speaking from firsthand experience it doesn't help, and the guilt and paranoia that accompany doing so aren't worth it. You also risk getting an unnecessary infection. Even if they're not visible, living with the scars isn't exactly fun either. Just don't do it. There's healthier coping methods out there like talking to someone, exercising, napping, writing things down, spontaneous showers, holding ice cubes, drawing on yourself, and etc etc. Assuming you're joking or not being serious or whatever, don't do that either. You don't know who will hear you. Though the term's been bastardized by tumblr, you could actually trigger someone by bringing such a thing up. You also might be heard by someone like myself or by someone who, rightfully so, takes things said like that seriously. Or if you meant that in the third way that just occurred to me, ignore what I just said and be more careful when holding sharp objects.

    Anime Couple??

I've never been huge on shipping but I think my favorite pairing is Senritsu with Kurapika from Hunter x Hunter. Kurapika's downward spiral starts around the time he meets Senritsu and I just find it really sweet how, despite not knowing each other that well, they open up to each other about their pasts. And when Kurapika gets upset Senritsu's able to calm him down and bring him back to his senses quickly. They're just really cute and they really balance each other out. I doubt they'll ever be canon but even so, they just suit each other so well that as long as they have more interactions I'll be happy haha.

  16. historic grist mills Yeah, I can't imagine they don't have plans to make those glasses available worldwide. I have no idea what kind of process it takes to be able to sell things internationally though so maybe it just takes a surprisingly long time to get that sorted out. It is. Despite knowing that certain colors mix together to create other colors, you still don't have any sort of reference of what that new color would look like. (and that's not even taking into account all the different shades of the mixed color) Seeing a new color has to be really cool though after you get over the initial shock.

  19. thank you it is pretty interesting to see what parts of the forum are being lurked
  20. Hi no Tori ...or well I want to start it soon, maybe sometime today soon but... I'm kinda hesitant to. It looks right up my alley but at the same time it also sounds really heavy and idk if I want to risk having a tiny existential crisis at the moment. (on manga updates, the first category that comes up is "mass murder" and that's followed by "politics involving royalty" "politics involving religion" "planet earth" "reflection on human nature" "reflection on human existence" "redemption" and many, many more) oh and it's apparently really long too maybe it'll be like Oyasumi Punpun where I'll read it and thoroughly enjoy the experience but know that due to my naivety I'll need to read it again when I'm older to fully appreciate it
