Yup. Long running series aren't very common, or are split up with a season or two of downtime in between. If you don't like what shows are currently airing in that format, you're kind of out of luck. Sure you can go back and finder older series, but there's a different feeling that comes with following something every week, for a fairly long period of time. And that feeling's getting increasingly hard to come by.. I wouldn't have pictured you as someone with a sophomoric sense of humor. Maybe by the end of the season, you'll grow to like, or at least not be completely bored by, the comedy in the SOL shows..? But then again... Hopefully you'll like the characters enough to not be too bothered by the comedy at least. You don't drop shows right? So good luck sticking with everything through ganbatte or however it's spelled Also, why do you like keeping your average at 5.0? but... if they're going to try to appeal to a certain age group, and be at least somewhat realistic, is it too much to ask they at least try to portay something that's taboo, but shouldn't be, positively? it probably is asking too much, but still.... it's just a nitpick but ahhhhhhh it bothers me im sorrrrrry

It'd be really, really surprising if BnHA never got additional seasons, but 13 episodes is so short. There's a lack of long running series (long running as in longer than 2 consecutive cours), and it would've been cool if this could've had a longer intial run. Bones is pretty busy at the moment, but it's still a little disappointing imo that the first season isn't at least 2 cours. I was gonna post this, so you wouldn't have to double post but... Since you mentioned it, what is your sense of humor exactly? Is it just very specific like only liking one or two types of humor, or is it just bad luck that most, if not all of the comedy this season doesn't seem like it'll appeal to you? and I'm glad I'm not the only one that didn't particularly like the first ep of Sakamoto --------------------------------- I don't want to write much since I haven't seen the second ep's of most of these yet, so this'll have to do and this post would be really long if I went with the usual formatting so bare with me 12-sai Chiccahana Mune no Tokimeki - these kids move so fast. The two kids kissed on a whim, and like a day later they're already saying they love each other plz slow down kiddos 6th grade relationships aren't worth it. I'm a bit miffed how the whole period thing was handled since this is actually aimed at young girls, and while showing the characters be embarrassed about buying pads is relatable, part of the way you make people feel less embarrassed about it is by making it not a big deal. And the girl being hesitant to tell her dad about it since she doesn't have a mom could've been a really good scene becase, yeah it's gonna be awkward, but he kinda needs to be aware of that and agghhhh idk hopefully this'll be cute at the very least Anne Happy - ...Only really started this because the intial translation was "Unhappy" and that title intrigued me considering how bright the colors are. The two characters that caught my attention haven't really shown up much yet so... The opening's kinda catchy I guess?? pun-pun-pun-punchline punpunpunpunpunchline Boku no Hero Academia - The main character's deisgn, and personality a bit too, reminds me Tsuna from KHR, but with a color palette similar to Gon's from HxH. First episode left a nice impression and hopefully it'll follow the manga closely since I've heard almost exclusively positive things about that. High School Fleet/Haifuri - please be good, please be good, please be good, please be good, please be good, please be good. The first episode ended on such a good note and I'm going to be so incredibly disapointed if this takes a moe/SOL route. Especially since I just watched the first ep of Girls und Panzer not too long ago and wasn't a huge fan of it because of the school SOL parts Kiznaiver - Neat premise, hopefully the execution will be good. And I like the school's uniform and character designs and color palettes Koutetsujou no Kabaneri - Came for the industrial revolution setting and steampunk elements, staying for the SnK-like atmosphere and also maybe Mumei Kuma Miko - The ending song alone convinced me to stick with this one. The atmosphere of this one reminds me of Inari Konkon Koi Iroha for some reason, but that's 100% a good thing imo Shounen Maid - tiny protagonist.... just want him to be happy. Not a huge fan of the art style, but this seems alright so far. also this one has a title very similar to a shota hentai and that's hilarious tbh Tanaka-kn wa Itsumo Kedaruge - This is probably the one I was looking forward to the most, and the first ep didn't disappoint despite it being more laid-back than expected. Kinda gives off a Kimi to Boku feeling which is refershing. The art style is also a nice breath of fresh air

Fantasy Life The character customization is neat, the writing's quirky, and there's a nice variety of enemies. There's a ridiculous amount of quests though (like 300 if I'm remembering correctly)

Maybe... There's so few things that are truly black and white in all instances though, and because of that, it's hard to give generalized answers, especially since some are a question of morals, and situations that have to do with morals aren't always cut and dry. And the inclusion of a neutral answer could've doubled as a bit of a cop-out response too for questions you don't have an opinion on/don't want to have opinion on. Not having one just makes it more difficult since it forces you to choose a side

Originally, I wanted to do something similar to my previous post, but instead of old, LGBT+ shoujo manga, it'd be with stuff from the gender bender genre. However, it's surprisingly hard to find things in that genre that were fairly short, and actually seemed worth reading, and I kinda lost interest once I realized that. I did read two things that are worth mentioning though Shishunki Bitter Change This one's still publishing, so I can't give any final thoughts, but of the 30 chapters (of the 35 or so that are currently available) I've read so far, I like it a lot! The two main characters. Yuuta and Yui, swapped bodies as 4th graders, and the story follows them trying to live their lives as the other loosely wants it to be, so if/when they're able to switch back, they'll feel as back to normal as possible. To be honest, this is pretty dang cute. Judging by the comments on the manga site I use, it sounds like romance gets thrown into the mix later (I wonder just how that'll work), but as of where I am, it's been mostly them stumbling through adolesence, school, and them giving each other regular updates about what's going on with their social lives, families, etc. The manga itself has a candid air about it, and a lot of the more comedic moments stem from the fact that they are so straightforward with each other. I have a fairly dry sense of humor though, so this kind of awkward and slightly relatable humor connects pretty well with me. It's also really interesting to see this manga tackle the issue of the two mains having trouble being mindful of their switched bodies. Like Yui occasionally forgets that her kindness towards female classmates has the chance of coming off differently than she intended now that she's in the midst of adolesence and in Yuuta's body, and Yuuta sometimes forgets that Yui has a quiet, thoughtful, feminine personality and appearance, and doesn't always think before speaking. It's pretty cool how they have moments where they feel newfound respect/admiration/understanding for the other because they now see things from the other's point of view too. I also think it's really neat that one of the aspects of the story is of them trying to understand the opposite sex, while technically being the opposite sex, especially since they occasionally have moments of not even fully understanding the same sex. It seems like it'll cover sexuality a little bit too since the main characters are both presumably straight, and with their situation, that makes things a bit tricky. The middle school arc focused more on Yuuta adapting to being in Yui's body, and it seems like high school will focus more on Yui dealing with more of the emotional and mental side of things, as opposed to physical stuff, so it'll be interesting to see how everything progresses. Like this one a lot, really hope it won't drag on for too long because I'd love to stick with this one all the way through. Definitely recommend if you like coming of age stuff Reverisble! the one sentence long summary on MAL intrigued me and I wanted to see how it would handle the plot I also wanted to see just how long the main characters would be adament about being 100% straight. hint: not very long at all And I can't really tell who the targeted demographic is supposed to be. Gay men? Women? The bisexuals? People with school girl and/or guys in skirts fetishes? Who even knows Nothing particularly notable about this one, but it was kinda funny at times. Around the halfway point it shifted tones quite a bit and got slightly more serious. (Not like, "there's an actual problem and things are at stake" serious, but it wasn't as fanservice-y as it used to be and started putting the main focus on the plot) The characters were likable and the occasional "romance heavy" (using that phrase lightly here) scenes were kinda really nice. I'm genuinely confused about the age of the characters though. At one point in the year over the manga takes place, the main characters are intimidated by upperclassmen, but when spring rolled around three of the characters were graduating??? Also, because the school offers both middle and high school, the main character rooms with persumably an 8th or 9th grader and that's kinda weird. And the last chapter has a sudden x year time skip and showed that all the characters are in college, so if the three were 11th graders, and the other kid a ninth grader, and the youngest is described as "now a college student" implying they're a freshman after the time skip, it's been about 4 years then...? Maybe the main character was only at the school one year, and that's why they called it a "graduation" ....? idk, though it bugs me it's not that big of a deal Ending happened really fast (there's only 15 chapters so that was to be expected), but the main two ultimately became canon so I can't complain. The fanservice was kinda uncomfortable because of the ambiguous ages, but overall, did sorta enjoy

...is anyone else disappointed that Boku no Hero Academia is only gonna be 13 episodes? Osomatsu-san's first episode is unavailable for legal streaming due to legal trouble if I'm not mistaken. (Legal trouble presumably from parodying a bunch of different anime in the first episode) The first episode's one of the best episodes and definitely worth watching though. It's not hard to find on other websites

LGBT+ couples can now adopt in all 50 states! A federal judge in Mississippi just overturned a ban that prevented LGBT+ from legally adopting children! Ironically and unfortunately, around the same time the ban was lifted, a bill was passed that would allow businesses to deny service to LGBT+ persons for religious reasons. The bill could also allow clerks to not issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples for religious reasons and not face legal repercussions. The bill being passed has unsurprisingly sparked backlash. One step forward and one step back, huh, Mississippi? x x

The lack of a middle neutal answer or at least less definitive answers (ex: slightly agree/disagree) is a bit disappointing. How vague/unspecific some questions were was unfortunate too. Like for "the rich are taxed too highly", what classifies as "rich"? Are we talking filthy rich as in million- and billionaires, people in the upper middle class who, while still middle class, have more than most, or perhaps something else...? Anywho: Economic Left/Right: -3.75 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.13 Sounds about right considering I best align with the Green and Libertarian parties. I wonder what the results would be like if the answer options weren't so black and white though.

Diamond no Ace ...have just the slightest empty feeling now that this one's over. I'd been following DnA since summer/fall 2014, and no longer having it to look forward to every week kinda sucks. It was a great run though, and hopefully a season 3 isn't completely out of the picture once the manga's a bit farther along. Also, the character I least expected to cry, cried in the last episode, and that was a nice surprise. And the one play in the game against Yakushi was copied from an actual play the Cleveland Indians did, so this series gets some brownie points in my book. My only complaint though is that some of the players were overlooked. Though it often felt like Eijun wasn't even the main character because of how much attention other characters (ex: Miyuki, Furuya) were given, about half of the players in the first string were still ignored. It just would've been nice for them to get more than split second appearance every episode or so. Kanojo to Kanojo no Neko: Everything Flows This one was really, really nice. It's pretty short and it's worth the watch if it interests you. Watch with your cat if you have one for maximum feels Haikyuu!! Don't have much to say about this because I'm following the manga and a third season's already been confirmed. Having the fan favorite training camp arc finally be animated was great since it introduced Fukurodani, gave Nekoma more attention, and was when a lot of character development took place. It was really cool seeing the matches from the spring tournament animated too since sports animanga involves a lot of motion, and it's easy to forget just how much is going on when reading sports manga. Hopefully the next season will be 25 epiosdes as well so Nekoma's and Fukurodani's match will get animated too. Akagami no Shirayuki-hime The final episode was cute. It'd be nice if this got another season, but if it doesn't, it left off at a nice enough place for that to not be bothersome. The romantic progression in this anime cracks me up a bit though. Before the last episode, they'd hugged once, maybe briefly held hands once or twice, and sat next to each other in a dark room and talked, blushing wildly all the while. Then in the last episode they finally kissed, but he went for the neck first, then the lips, and then when they were really alone, he went for the cheek. Not really sure what that order of events was going for, but it came across more comical to me than romantic. Otherwise, a nice finale, but man that was kinda awkward haha

Just finished Sket Dance though! Initially, I started this anime back in the summer of 2011 and when I was still a newb to anime and knee deep in the weeaboo phase. I tried to watch it again over the summer of 2013 between SnK ep's, but I only got as far as I did in my first attempt; which was about 12 ep's. Considering the amount of references in this anime, I'm pretty glad I held off on it since being able to catch the references, especially the more subtle ones, can improve the overall experience. In a sense, I'm a bit disappointed since it's not what I was expecting. The first cour is almost all introductions to recurring characters, and that left the impression that the rest of the show would be like that. Sket Dance's synopsis on MAL came across like it's sort of like an episodic show, wherein the characters help classmates with mostly petty/trivial/mundane, but occasionally meaningful/"deep" problems and that's it; rinse, repeat. The Sket-dan does help people, but some of the situations they get into are over the top, and while some of those times are pretty good, other times it just felt ridiculous. Like a lot of other anime, it felt like it lulled in the middle from like ep 20 - 45 (exlcuding Switch's and Himeko's short backstory arcs). Then again, those are some of the most comedy heavy episodes in the series, and, to be honest, the comedy just didn't click with me a lot of the time. Sket Dance's author worked as an assistant for Gintama, and the two have similar styles of humor. Gintama's humor never really appealed to me, so my complaint of those episodes being kinda boring is more of a personal complaint than actual issue with the series itself. To say some good things, the characters are great! The main three are immediately likable, the student council is given enough screentime for you to genuinely like them by the end, and the side characters are a pretty unique bunch. This is very much so a friendship anime and, especially for its length, there's not very much romance and fanservice. A lot of the romantic bits almost feel like they're there in part to tease the viewer. As previously said though, this anime puts a decent sized emphasis on friendship and platonic bonds, particularly Himeko's and Bossun's relationship. A good amount of focus is put on those two, and imo it's handled really well! Their relationship falls into a really interesting area that's not explored in a lot of other anime. Switch himself even describes the two as being in the "more than friends, but less than lovers" area. Being that they are best friends who are the opposite sex, and that this is an anime, it's pretty much inevitable that romantic feelings would be thrown in the mix. (Their relationship would probably be less believable if that wasn't added in to be honest) Judging by what I've read from others, and from the last two chapters of the manga I went ahead and read, no relationship becomes canon, though feelings the two have about each other are heavily implied if not outright stated at some point. Speaking of the manga though, of the last two chapters and few chapters from the school trip rhapsody arc I've read, it's definitely got a different atmosphere than the anime does. I don't know if I'm going to read the remaining 100 or so chapters. Aside from a few different parts, there's not really much that's only in the manga that I want to read. The fact that it does have a different feel to it is certainly intriguing though. And lastly, I just want to mention the openings. The endings are a bit of a different story, as well as the rest of the music used in the anime, but all 6 openings are great. They're catchy and fit the tone of the show well. The main reason I'm bringing attention to this though is because of the very beginning of opening 4. The beginning sequence shows Bossun and his younger sister, Rumi, in snapshots/short videos over the years and I love everything about it. Just the attention to detail in the background alone is worth mentioning. It's really cute too how you can see Rumi's attitude towards her brother change through the frames. I just think it's really neat when there's things like this that allow you to peak in and learn more about characters' lives offscreen. It's not something that's super common, so it's the sort of thing I really appreciate when it is shown. (Sorry the gif's in black and white. It's the only gif I can find of that part that's nicely sized and paced) tl;dr average overall, liked the characters a lot though

Just finished Nageki's route in Hatoful Boyfriend... my poor pigeon son If anything, the game's certainly unique. You play as the only human in a world populated by birds. You attend a prestigious high school, and the characters you can 'romance' are mostly classmates, but for some reason, the narcoleptic teacher and creepy school nurse are available routes too. (I think there's a route available outside the school too with a female bird, but, to be honest, I have no idea what that route entails yet). As the days you go by, you can improve your stats through any of the three electives, participate in both in and out of school festivals, and learn more whichever bird you're pursing. The art's alright, nothing special, but it suffices. The text sometimes feels like it lags and I have to press buttons twice but it's not a huge problem all in all. The music is kinda weird though. Some of it is very generic, but then one or two pieces I've heard thus far are like well known pieces of classical music. Like Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairly from The Nutcracker plays when you meet with the school nurse. It's a weird combination, but not a bothersome one. Had to use a guide because on my first run through. I ended up dying from just choosing what options sounded most appealing since those didn't result in any specific route. Didn't realize there were so many paths in this game, I'll try to do all of them because if you speed through the text you've already seen and only read the dialogue with your bird of choice, you can get through it in about 30-40mins. Some birds apparently have two endings though, and the guide's kinda vague, so hopefully I'll be able to get those too, but it looks like the birds that have those, are some of the characters I'm least interested in, so it's nbd if I don't get to those. My only complaint so far is that you don't find out why Nageki committed suicide in HB. You can find out why in the dlc, Bad Boys Love, probably along with other characters' more detailed backstories too, but I'm not gonna buy that because... that title, , ,, , no thnx i'll pass on that Like it so far. Its weird atmosphere is kinda charming in a way to be honest. Don't necessarily know if I feel it was worth the $10 yet, but I've only seen a fraction of the content, so maybe that opinion will change soon. Hopefully the other routes will be just as, if not more enjoyable. I heard this game was kinda sad, and if Nageki's route is as sad as it gets I'll be a little disappointed. Looking forward to playing the rest of it though!

Bought Hatoful Boyfriend... Y'know, that dating sim with the pigeons, yeah that one.... I've been wanting to play this for the past like 3 years and I finally coughed up the money for it, so I'm looking forward to pursuing all the routes. Especially the one kid bird that's really quiet and hangs out in the library, he seems like he's hiding something and I'm hoping for a tearjerker Also a tiny Gundam MK-II to sit on my desk.
