  1. It has never been definitively stated that Sharon/Chris/Vermouth was de-aged by APTX or anything even close to it. For all we know, she might have eternal youth from Magic Kaito's Pandora or something else entirely. As for the de-aging effect of APTX, I'm pretty sure Haibara said that it returns the body to a childlike or pre-adolescent state. If that is the case, anyone suffering that side effect, regardless of their starting age, should end up physically the same as Conan and Haibara. This is the reason I reject the idea that Mary was only recently given the APTX, as she now has the appearance of a junior high aged adolescent, meaning she must have been poisoned about five years previously. As for the likelihood of Mary being Rum, I never even considered her a suspect. At the time of her first introduction, it was clear she was someone close to Sera and who had Sera's complete trust. It was equally clear, though not yet confirmed at the time, that Sera was the sister of Akai Shuichi and was trying to find out more about his death, but already new (or at least had suspicions) about the Organization's existence and involvement. For that reason, I couldn't accept that Sera would defer to someone that might be involved with the Organization. As we gradually learned more about the character and Sera, it became clear that they are on the run, probably from the Organization themselves. With the most recent developments, that her husband was involved in the Haneda Kohji case in some way and was (presumably) killed by the Organization, that completely eliminated any last shadow of doubt. Rum is the second in command of the Black Organization, therefore someone who has the complete trust of Anokata; either someone who has been with Anokata from the beginning, or someone Anokata has known their entire life and therefore trusts implicitly. Rum will not be another spy in the Organization (at least, not if Aoyama-sensei wants to avoid pissing off a lot of fans), but will be a dedicated member of the Organization, as faithful to and trusting of Anokata as Anokata is to him/her. So Rum won't be someone on the run as Mary is. Altogether (since I had stumbled across many spoilers about Mary before I even reached her first appearance), she was never on my list of Rum suspects.
  2. Good catch! I think you're probably right. Now, there is something else about this case that I have been thinking about a lot. Well, not the actual case so much as the events preceding it.
  3. Just read the new chapter. It's fairly obvious now what the trick was.
  4. I actually got into Doctor Who about four years ago. I started with Eccleston and went forward from there as I was able to, finally catching up shortly after Capaldi started his run as the Doctor. I have watched all of the classic Who I could put my hands on, but sadly, that isn't much (about three serials of the First Doctor, two or three of the Second Doctor, two of the Third Doctor, two or three of the Fourth Doctor, one of the Fifth Doctor, and one of the Sixth Doctor; I haven't seen any of the Seventh Doctor or the Eigth Doctor movie). I find it interesting that you draw more parallels between Capaldi and the First Doctor as Capaldi himself has said that he drew inspiration for his portrayal from Jon Pertwee's Third Doctor, and even Sean Pertwee (Gotham's Alfred and son of Jon Pertwee) had said he sees much of his father in Capaldi's Doctor, which I tend to agree with, especially in the newer episodes. My favorite companion is probably Amy (though I readily admit that it is largely because I have a thing for redheads and I found her attractive), with Clara as a very close second (based entirely on the strength of the character) and third being Mary Jane. I did like Rose as a companion, but only alongside Tennant's Tenth Doctor as they had great chemistry together. My least favorite companion is definitely Donna; somehow she just got on my nerves. I don't know anything about the actress playing the new companion, but I can only hope she will be someone smart and/or strong like Clara, or (barring that) someone with a strong emotional compass to help keep the Doctor grounded firmly on the right path. My favorite character overall is River Song (last year's The Husbands of River Song special is one of my favorite episodes in the whole series). If I had an in with BBC, I would actually pitch them a series I had the idea for focused on her, The Diary of River Song (it would allow for occasional guest appearances by Tennant and Smith that could draw in their respective fans [and is there anyone out there not curious about Jim the Fish?], and maybe even earlier Doctors, or lookalikes in their places, as there is still the hanging question of how River knows all of his appearances, but would focus mostly on her own adventures). The reason I thought the initial airing for the newly animated Power of the Daleks serial was going to be the 19th of this month is because Cox cable has listed it as a new program on the guide information with the original air date being 11-19-2016. If it has aired before, apparently Cox didn't get the memo. Now, with talk of Capaldi being ousted, that raises another question. Who would you like to see play the Thirteenth Doctor? If I could choose anyone, I would actually cast Jim Sturgess in the role. After seeing his performances in Across the Universe, Upside Down, and 21, I think he would be a great Doctor as he has displayed the dramatic range to play the light-hearted moments, the heartfelt (and heart-wrenching) moments, AND the dark and intense moments all with a high level of skill and believability, which (to me at least) is a must for the Doctor. But "Who" would you choose? Just curious. Also, what are your thoughts on the possibility of the Doctor regenerating as a woman (now that the series has definitively shown is is possible for a timelord to change genders upon regeneration)? Either way, I know that I would definitely like to see another long-run Doctor, like Tom Baker. The new series has been running less than half the time the original ran, and already they are only two Doctors short of the classic (only one short if you count the War Doctor, Who I would love to see them work in again somehow before John Hurt passes). That's just my opinion, though Anyways, I think I've rambled enough for now. Let's her your opinions!
  5. Conan could tell who the culprit was when he looked at the shoes. Only the culprit's shoes matched the scuff mark on the balcony rail. That's why I made sure to note that he checked the suspects' shoes on his way out of the apartment. I thought I had included the observation in the deduction speech, but I will double check that when I reread it before finishing chapter 2. As I am planning this to be an ongoing series AND I want it to be true to the original series, I can't really throw the romance/tragedy/etc. out there all at once. That's not how the show works, as I'm sure you know. But I am glad you are enjoying it so far. There will be more once the current manga case is concluded. Also, still looking for title ideas. Thanks everyone!
  6. I'm really looking forward to the multi-crossover later this month. A four episode story starting on Supergirl, continuing through The Flash and Arrow, and concluding on Legends of Tomorrow. That is going to be awesome! And with Vampire Diaries ending after this season, I truly hope CW will pick up one more DC show for Friday to round out the week. Yes! This! I actually think I disagree. Berlanti has repeatedly done things that should have been impossible on a TV budget in all four series. I really believe that Berlanti could not just pull off a Green Lantern series, but make it absolutely AWESOME! It would be everything we hoped the movie would be. Start with Hal Jordan, of course, and introduce the other Lanterns along the way, covering all the major plot points (Sinestro Corp and the other colored lanterns, Blackest Night, Brightest Day, etc.). It would also give them the opportunity to do more with the Justice Society and introduce the old Green Lantern. If Berlanti doesn't want to do a Lantern series, the next best thing would be a series of Justice Society itself. The other thing I think the CW DC shows need is the Big Three. Not as main chatacters, mind you. I mean like how Superman has been introduced on Supergirl. We need the other two in a similar capacity. I envision Bruce Wayne being introduced on Arrow, probably as a philanthropist helping with funds to rebuild Star City after some major conflict. He would then stick around for a few episodes, during which, rumors of a new caped vigilante would start spreading through the city, culminating in the Green Arrow and Batman meeting and working together to eliminate some threat and Batman saying that he must return to protect his own city, leaving some means to contact him in the event of another crisis the Green Arrow and his team can't handle by themselves. An extremely dark Batman would be perfect for this as Oliver has been struggling with his own darkness and that would let him see that he is not alone and that the darkness within can be overcome or used to his advantage. As for Wonder Woman, I imagine her best introduction to the Arrowverse would probably be on The Flash. I'm not sure how to work her alter ego into it, but I think, with her powers, it would be the best fit (unless Berlanti does decide to do a Green Lantern series, in which case I think introducing her on there would be better). I also love the idea of a Crisis on Infinite Earth's film. That would let DC bring the separate film and TV universes together for a grand battle. In addition to the current film and TV franchises, they could also bring back Tom Welling's Superman, and/or Dean Cain's, Michael Keaton as an older Batman (maybe a Batman Beyond type universe), and so many others! It would have to be at least two or three films, but it would be amazing! Those are the things I hope to see forthcoming for CW's DCTV. What do you guys think?
  7. Tennant is my favorite Doctor, with Jon Pertwee as second. Though I doubt like Peter Capaldi. I'm looking forward to the new Christmas special next month, not to mention series 10 starting up next year. In the meantime, I am eager for the new animation of the lost Power of the Daleks serial, which will air for the first time on the 19th of this month. There is good stuff coming for us Whovians!
  8. Now I'm looking forward to Rogue One next month. Okay, I know it's not part of the new trilogy, but it will be cool to see the story immediately before the original film. I wish they would run it as a double feature.
  9. Just wanted to post an update about my fanfic series. I have been working on it, but I have decided to put it on hold until the new manga case is concluded as I am planning to work Wakasa Rumi into the next chapter and I want to see how the character develops in this case. I am also still hoping for at least a couple more responses to the first chapter, as well as ANY suggestions for the title (either for the series or that chapter). I will keep this thread up to date with any new developments concerning my fanfics, whether it's additional delays or a change of plans. Thanks for reading!
  10. I posted directly on your profile page and told you two sites that host the anime (I'm not putting them on the forum because it's against forum rules). Both the I named have decent subs of the whole series, including the movies and OVAs. Take a look at your profile page and you should find the message. Hope that helps.
  11. Okay, you are in the middle of the Holmes Freak Murder Case. Wow . You are quite a ways behind. The anime equivalent for that case would be episodes 57 and 58. A lot has happenedsince then, so I will give a very brief summation (avoiding as many MAJOR spoilers as possible). The next major development of the plot involves Conan getting drawn into a bank robbery case and learning that the Black Organization is involved. In the aftermath of the robbery case, Conan meets a strange girl who was apparently the scientist that developed the drug that shrunk his body and learns more about the drug and the Organization. After that, Conan becomes involved with the FBI, who are also investigating the Organization. But a Black Organization agent called Vermouth, who is known for being fairly ruthless and also a master of disguise, may be on the trail of Conan and his friends. Later, during what seems to be a routine case, Conan discovers that a news reporter may actually be a member of the Black Organization and starts to investigate. The reporter ultimately ends up in FBI hands, though in a coma, thus unable to talk. This leads to a major conflict between the FBI and the Organization, resulting in the death of an FBI agent and the Organization taking back the reporter, but the reporter may be more than it originally seemed. Not long after, Conan learns from the FBI the a new Black Organization agent, Bourbon, has been activated. Around the same time, a strange man called Okiya Subaru moves into Shinichi's house, a mysterious girl called Sera Masumi transfers into Ran's class nd spending a lot of time with Conan and the Mori family, and a new detective called Tohru Amuro is taken on as an apprentice by Kogoro. Sera appears to have some history with Conan and Ran, though neither can remember her, and she hears a fairly strong resemblance to the fallen FBI agent. Along the wy, Conan (with the help of the former Black Organization scientist) is briefly able to turn back into Shinichi, which he has done a few times now, most notably during a case in London, at which time he finally confessed his feelings to Ran, though she has yet to respond. As Conan learns more about the mysterious Bourbon, it starts to look like Bourbon may be more than just another Black Organization member. Likewise, it starts to seem that the murdered FBI agent may, in fact, not be dead. Just as Conan finally discovers Bourbon's identity, he receives word that yet another Black Organization member is on the move: Rum, the second in command. The only descriptions Conan can find of Rum are markedly different: an old man, a strongly built man, or a very feminine man. The only detail that seems consistent is that one of Rum's eyes is fake. In the wake of the news about Rum, the Metropolitan Police Department suddenly has a new cheif, who is missing an eye and who appears to realize that Conan is more than what he seems. We don't yet have a lot of information about Rum, but it seems Rum was involved in a double murder 17 years earlier in which the victims were killed by an earlier version of the same drug that was given to Shinichi in episode one. In this 17 year old case, the prime suspect is a bodyguard known only as Asaka. A dying message lift by one of the victims was the letters "ASACA RUM." That pretty much brings us up to the current anime episodes for story development. There is further development in the manga that has yet to be adapted into anime episodes, but you asked specifically about the anime, so I won't get into that just now. While I have covered the major plot points, there are still plenty of other things going on (the appearance of Kaito Kid, etc.). Also, even though I have described the major plot points, I tried as much as possible to avoid spoiling the fine details and plot twists (have to let some things still surprise you, after all), such as identities (Vermouth, Bourbon, etc.). Hopefully this will be specific enough to answer your question, but vague enough that you can still get the enjoyment of those developments as you are able to see them. If you want more info about the most recent manga cases or more specific info about what I've described here, just let me know. Hope this helps some.
  12. If you don't have time to read all of the manga, but you can watch the anime, there are good fansubs of the entire series on animetv.io and kissanime.com that will get you up to the newest episodes. If you know the last episode number you watched, you can start from there. If not, look at the episode list on this site's wiki to find the last one you saw. Or you could just do what I did back in February and start watching the subtitled episodes from the beginning (however, if you do that, expect it to be several months before you're caught up; I just got there in September). If you are in a hurry to catch up, you could do like many people and skip the anime original cases (the episode list shows which cases are adapted from the manga and which are AO). The reason I didn't post all of this on your forum topic is because I'm telling you where to find the fansubs, which is against forum rules.

  13. Well, it the question is really how caught up you are on the manga. The most recently completed manga to anime adaptation was the girl band case, after which we have started a string of anime originals. But, if you're not current with the manga either, then that will mean nothing to you. So, before I can answer your question, I must ask a question of my own. What is the most recent story case you are familiar with? Clash of Red and Black? Bourbon arc? Bell Tree Express? Scarlet Pursuit? Rum arc? I'm order to find out was has happened since what you have seen or read, you will have to let us know what the most recent part you have seen or read happens to be. I have no problem helping a fellow fan, but I need more information to do so.
  14. At this point, frozen pizza. Reviewing my original comment from November 7th. Wow, that was a crappy birthday dinner!
  15. I learned (or rather, was reminded) that most people don't remember to wish you a happy birthday without some kind of prompting or reminding.
  16. My favorites since adulthood have been Stephen King, Michael Crichton, Jeffrey Deaver, James Luceno, Timothy Zahn, and James Rollins. My favorite work from each is The Dark Tower series (King), Timeline (Crichton), the Lincoln Rhyme series (Deaver), Star Wars: Labyrinth of Evil (Luceno), Star Wars Thrawn trilogy (Zahn), and the Sigma Force series (Rollins). Excellent books!
  17. Just curious where you read 978 to summarize it. Bato doesn't have it yet.

  19. Rydia, from Final Fantasy IV.
  20. She asked, "Are you . . . ?" then knocked on her motorcycle. In the Bandaged Man Case (manga volume 5), who does Conan try to knock out with his stun dart to solve the case?
  21. #54. You know you're a Detective Conan fan when you start searching Amazon for voice-changing bowties.
  22. 若狭留美 Because I had copied that for a post about Wakasa Rumi.
