  1. If you all see anything like that, you can change it back yourself. Unfortunately, I think it is likely this particular troll will return. Here are two tutorials on how to undo the changes a troll made, because me or another mod may not be able to get there quick enough. Tutorial #2 in case #1 doesn't work for you
  2. I've heard of this site and have it bookmarked, but never really used it. It does order things by case number which is interesting.
  3. That looks pretty good for a match. I'll take a closer look later.
  4. Well there is a name that appears more than once, but with no person to attach it to. The infamous Ooguro/Daikoku Rentarou (大黒 連太郎) which appears in Hattori's guestbook in the mermaid case (and be read as "Big Black Seventh Son") is the same name that appears on a building (Daiko Building ("Cocktail" Bar) (File 116) 大黒ビル (バー「カクテル」)) where Tequila was meeting with Hideaki Nakajima. Of course though we always have family names which reoccur.
  5. Just in case you haven't seen these pictures Wakarimashita posted: From DCTP Also here are some non-culprit-identifying end-of-the-movie spoilers about Okiya's involvement in the plot and how the Akai bit works. I'm not sure about the exact chronological order of events.
  6. Convo summary between Shadow, Akai Shuubaru, and me at DCTP's spoiler cbox Part 1 The initial topic was "what Amuro needs to do to prove Okiya is Akai." We decided that Amuro would need to play a psychological game to see if he could trip up Okiya into doing or saying something that suggested he was Akai. Going in swinging was unlikely to help him, especially if Akai could overpower him. Forcing out characteristic phrases like his final lines to Kir using ironic process theory, or exploiting habits like handedness, hands in pockets, or his eyes are fair game. Amuro could also aim for a knowledge test on topics like Sera, the Mouri Murder case, or even the Mystery Train if Okiya' name was on the roster. Ultimately though we seemed to reach a collective realization that Amuro going over to Okiya's place was giving an advantage to Okiya and not likely going to get the best results. It was also dangerous; Akai or Conan might attack him, which brings us to part 2... Part 2 How is Amuro going to defend himself against Akai and Conan? What he needs is a dead man's switch. That is Amuro needs to inform Okiya in a way that only Akai can understand that if something happens to him, someone will die for it. Conan used a somewhat similar strategy against Vermouth with his heartbeat-linked broadcaster. The perfect targets for this would be Masumi or the Mouri agency, using bombs that go off after a certain time has passed or something similar. The real beauty is that if Okiya tried to act to protect them, then Amuro would know for sure that Okiya was Akai because he relayed the threat in a way only Akai would understand. Amuro could also try to rope Conan in as well in order to manipulate him because Conan has shown himself to be vulnerable to manipulation before. While Amuro can play Okiya's game at the Kudo house for a while to see if he can score an easy victory, he can shift the field to something more favorable to him by using threats that require Okiya to have the knowledge of Akai or the fake death plan in order to understand and thwart them. Even better, Bourbon could set up psychological traps within the threat that would trick Conan or whoever else into favoring certain actions because they instantly come to mind after having done the fake death trick. Tl;dr Amuro wants Okiya and Conan to play a special game.
  7. The awards ceremony might not be live afterall. If they were live, that would mean they were taking place at 2 to 6 am if it is 6 to 10 pm in Japan. In that case maybe Yuusaku hauled back to Japan on a chartered flight. I don't think Yuusaku would be mentioned if he was not important, and I don't think Okiya would be wearing the facemask if there was not some sort of trick up his sleeve. Ran might be suspicious again which is worrying. She might wander into this situation again.

  9. Okay, quick breakdown based on knowing next to absolutely nothing.... Bourbon has figured out the fake death, and the concept of psychological manipulation has finally come up which is excellent news for me. Vermouth however has decided to be a intentionally obstinate to force Bourbon to do some extra work, perhaps because she suspects Conan had a hand in this and doesn't want him or Shiho found out at all costs. Bourbon himself seems to have figured out that is Vermouth's motive because he thinks of Conan right after. So Bourbon heads over to Kudo's house because he remembered that someone from that house gave Conan that cellphone in the cat refrigerated delivery car case. (I can explain this in more detail if anyone asks) Bourbon, or at least someone who appears to be Bourbon, finds someone who appears to be Okiya in a facemask. The facemask should be a huge red flag. Recall Conan used one to relay to Hattori his Shinichi voice at a distance. In short, the person who is Okiya's voice could be very far away ... perhaps even at an awards ceremony. We have 9 adults we need to worry about right now who could possibly be in disguise: These are Bourbon and Vermouth on one side.... And Shuuichi, Kir, Yukiko, Yuusaku, adult Shinichi, adult Shiho, and Masumi Sera. Mostly I would worry about the first four: Shuuichi, Kir, Yukiko, Yuusaku because I think adult Shinichi and adult Shiho are less likely to be involved, and Masumi knows nothing unless they dropped her in last minute. All four of those adults can speak English, and all four have the potential to imitate voices thanks to Agasa's inventions. Watch for high collars! We could very well have a gambit where Yuusaku (or Yukiko) is home right now in disguise as Okiya, and he is linked to Akai (or Yukiko) who will be picking up the award as Yuusaku live on TV in America because they flew him overseas or something during the 24 hour lead-up time, and they will be exchanging lines about what to say. (Akai being overseas is potentially questionable because if Amuro does something dangerous they aren't really equipped to handle it) As for why anyone would do this plan, it keeps Akai away from Amuro and substitutes in someone who is less likely to respond to psych manipulation, because Yuusaku is a gamebreaker. Also because Okiya and Yuusaku have similar builds, it's possible Yuusaku could do Okiya with just a wig and glasses, making Okiya immune to a face pull. Vermouth will definitely be hanging around in this and up to something. She might have even warned Conan in advance. Also Conan and Haibs are probably somewhere together, maybe next door at Agasas. Yukiko is right handed. Yuusaku is ambiguous: he is rather ambidextrous and possibly right handed. Okiya we know is a lefty. I'll post back if I come up with any better ideas.

  11. 6 was atrocious. The plot was a train wreck of plotholes, and clearly was written by someone whose main priority was thrusting a soppy Aesop down the viewer's throats about Japanese society's problems. I nearly quit Detective Conan forever because it was that lousy, and I was too naive to know the rest of DC wasn't like that movie. I present the following quote chain from DCTP: I always liked how that one rich kid was being controlled by Hiroki, and thus him learning to be more polite didn't happen, thus wasting our time with that subplot. EDIT: Also, the whole thing about his company being ruined by the JTR genes scandals doesn't make sense. Your company would have been more ruined if your plan worked and those 50 kids were killed in your machinery. And all those kids were the kids of your benefactors, so not only would you have lost them all and received the worst kind of bad press, you would have also would have had to deal with a lawsuit from all of them. You're mixing up plans there. He clearly shows that he wants Noah's Ark to win and the disk he uploads after knifing the guy is Noah's Ark. Given when he did that, he should have expected something bad to happen with the VR cocoons. Different and unique is great, but I at least expect "makes an effort to be sort-of consistent with the show's internal rules and general theme". 9 is great because Kogoro shines. 7 is fairly entertaining for the Hattori stuff. You won't miss much if you skip 11 unless you are a fan of Sonoko and Ran.

  14. Here is the translation of all plotty parts of the case courtesy of Fujiwara. And this is the answer to the case as far as I can tell. Edit: and here are my thoughts on Amuro: Without knowing anything else beyond that some woman with associations with the FBI thinks it is a good reason to use Amuro on a case, maybe Amuro is the son of an FBI/PSIA agent (PSIA being the Japanese intel agency) and was taken in by the Black Organization. If Amuro's parent(s) worked with the FBI in the past, and the lady victim who is friends with Jodie in this case remembers them doing so, maybe she assumed Amuro had followed in his parent's footsteps because he is a detective right now. She asks Amuro to help her because of this misconception. If Conan makes the same leaps of logic based on the teacher's actions and the lingo that Amuro used (Appendix + Zero + "Get out of my Japan"), he could come to the conclusion Amuro is an embedded spy, but the conclusion is off because Conan doesn't know Amuro's history with the Black Organization. That's why Amuro tells Conan he is mistaken. It seems Amuro has a grudge against the FBI in general (not just Shuuichi Akai), and appears to be enjoying ribbing them. I think it is a stronger reaction than most members of the Black Org would have to the FBI. If Amuro does have intelligence agency parents, maybe he does not know exactly what went down between them and the Organization, and blames the FBI (and maybe Shuuichi or the Akai family [maybe even daddy Akai]) for whatever situation that led to Amuro being left behind and adopted by the Black Organization. (Death of parent? Lots of possibilities here.). A confrontation with Shuuichi might clear some of that up since Amuro now knows the fake death trick. All that is left for Amuro now is to figure out Okiya is Akai, and Amuro already knows Okiya exists and cooperates with Conan from the cat + cold truck case. I also think we should take another look at Date to see if he used PSIA lingo and is a deeper character than first appearances suggests. It seems strange for Amuro not to take advantage of Conan thinking he is a spy, but manipulating Conan like this is not out of character for him. Keep in mind this isn't the first time Amuro used a do-something-that-will-make-Conan-panic strategy where he allows Conan to figure something out about him instead of leaving Conan naive, thus causing Conan to make a mistake in his haste and fear. At the shrine meeting with Jodie, Bourbon deliberately left a hole in his disguise story for Conan to catch so that he would realize that someone was spying. The motive for that seemed to be trying to catch Conan contacting Shuuichi in panic. (Conan contacted Ai not Shuu, but it isn't like Amuro would know that from the convo.) Amuro must have been closely following Conan (and not Kogoro) all over after the shrine incident waiting for him to catch on because there is not other good explanation for how Amuro managed to be catch up with and be close to Conan after Conan took off sprinting from the Blue Parrot. (855/856) This situation could very well be more of the same. Amuro must be thinking on his feet here in the situation with Conan, but Bourbon decides to pressure the boy again, this time letting Conan know that he knows Conan's game. Amuro is probably hoping Conan will drag Shuuichi out once he panics.
  15. Can someone help me pick an article to feature next? Itakura has been up for a while now, and it is time we passed the torch. We could pick something that's a current event in the manga, or something random.
  16. Wakarimashita from DCTP posted this keyframe sketch of Gosho's.
  17. I think Amuro could track down Okiya. He knows Okiya exists and works with Conan because of the cat in the cold truck case. I think we are likely to get well setup for a clash by 900 because it's been plot cases back to back at this point. Usually when backstory gets dragged out, I start getting worried. That's what happened with Jodie right before the showdown with Vermouth and Rena/Eisuke before Red vs Black. Poor middle school Akai child, "he/she/it" has been entirely forgotten.
  18. Things have been slow since DCTP subs quit because they received a DMCA + possible legal threat a year+ ago. The groups that have filled the void are much smaller and thus take a lot longer. All you can do is wait.
  19. Here are some promo pics. Nothing that exciting except news that Ran and Sera will have a moment together. Crossposted from DCTP's spoiler board.
  20. Without knowing anything else beyond that some woman with associations with the FBI thinks it is a good reason to use Amuro on a case, it is possible that Amuro is the son of an FBI agent and was taken in by the Black Organization. Maybe the woman knew Amuro's parent and then incidentally came across Amuro as a detective and assumed that because Jodie was in Japan that he was over for the same reason and had followed in his parent's footsteps. If Conan makes the same leaps of logic, he could come to the conclusion Amuro is an embedded spy, but the conclusion is off because Conan doesn't know Amuro's history with the Black Organization. That's why Amuro tells Conan he is mistaken. I still don't think Amuro is an Akai because he was shown in association with the Black Organization (Elena) as a child and his skin color doesn't match the apparent middle brother's (or the rest of the Akai family who is pale). Havin a connection with the FBI would open up a new avenue for why he hates Shuuichi. Maybe Shuuichi had some involvement in whatever situation led to Amuro being left behind and adopted by the Black Organization. (Death of parent? Lots of possibilities here.) It seems that Conan understood a meaning behind the nickname "Zero" that we readers have not figured out yet. That seems to lead him to whatever conclusion he makes regarding Amuro's background. It seems Amuro has a particular grudge against the FBI in general, and appears to be enjoying ribbing them. I think it is a stronger reaction than most members of the Black Org would have to the FBI. If Amuro does have FBI parents, maybe he does not know exactly what went down between them and the Organization, and blames the FBI (and maybe Shuuichi or the Akai family [maybe even daddy Akai]) for whatever happened. A confrontation with Shuuichi might clear some of that up since Amuro now knows the fake death trick. All that is left for Amuro now is to figure out Okiya is Akai, and Amuro already knows Okiya exists and cooperates with Conan from the cat + cold truck case. I bet the solution to the case has to do with the fact that in America a check by the answer means correct, while in Japan that means incorrect. Circling an answer doesn't mean incorrect in America, but it seems like it is being used that way by the foreign teacher. The motive is probably something along the line of some diligent student commits suicide because he thinks he got a terrible grade and the teacher was mocking him with flowers. I'll think about all this some more when there are more translations.
  21. It's a variant of Kuroi Kage (Black Shadow) that first appeared in the movie 4 soundtrack that I have never been able to track down.
  22. There is usually a Black Organization case in the manga during 00 chapters. What do you think is going to happen?
  23. I looked at the various trailers a bit more closely this time and here is what I can suss out about the plot based on what characters are wearing and such. The movie takes place over three or four days at least based on Conan's clothing changes. Standard cautions about misinterpreting the footage apply. Day 1 So far the most footage from the previews is from the first day. On the first day, Conan is wearing green and he, the DB, Ran, and Agasa go to the Bell tree tower, and the sniper kills a man in broad daylight. The sniper takes off on a bike and Conan chases him on the skateboard. Conan goes along a waterway, and weaves in and out of traffic until the board begins to malfunction because the sniper shot at it. I'm guessing right after the board malfunctions is the scene with the black car balancing on two wheels which nearly squishes Conan before Masumi saves him. Masumi stops briefly, gives Conan her helmet, and she and Conan resume chase after the sniper on Masumi's bike until the sniper reaches the docks. The FBI and the police presumably get involved in the chase somewhere in the middle of Conan's chase. The police cars are blown up near the docks when the sniper lobs a grenade. The scene with Jodie shooting from her car and declaring "FBI" appears to be near somewhere with water, so it could be the docks when the chase has slowed down. Her window is broken so most likely she was shot at. After that, the clues about the sniper "vanish into the ocean" according to the official description, whatever that means. That seems to be the extent of the chase on the first day. Unknown, Night of day 1, Day 2 or 3 The sniper has at least two more attacks, one man whose face we can't see in a car at night, and one named Bill Murphy who is a former US army sergeant and secretary to one of the suspects. Unknown, Day 2 or 3 On day 2 or 3, the internet goes crazy and Ran and Kogoro read some of the messages. Jodie (Blue jacket), Camel, and a man I don't recognize hear about something surprising (Jodie: "What do you mean?"). That same day in the evening, Jodie has a car conversation with Camel about Akai with some flashbacks. Night of Day 2 Conan's red shirt and black tie night happens most likely before Masumi is shot. Conan is wearing Masumi's helmet which likely means he was investigating with her. He finds a bullet-less rifle cartridge and dice clue like the one seen earlier, so chances are a second person was killed by now. Day 3 On orange shirt day, Conan is with Masumi investigating near a bridge, which is when the sniper targets him. The train they are waving to looks almost exactly like the train where Bill Murphy was shot at. Therefore, it is extremely likely that the two were investigating Bill's shooting when the sniper decided to target Conan from the bridge. Day 4 and Night 4 On what appears to be the final day and night of the climax, Conan is in a blue jacket and yellow shirt. During the day, Conan reviews a small model of downtown Tokyo, presumably scoping out sniping positions because there is a mystery there. As evening approaches, Ran and Kogoro meet up and look worried about something. (Ran: "Conan-kun") That night there is a bombing at the Bell tree tower that shuts down its lights. This is where the climax takes place. Conan runs around the tower structure being shot at and Ran is danger and shot at as well. Jodie in a light jacket and dark shirt is shot and injured too. Ai is somewhere nearby. Unknown One day has the Metropolitan police in bullet resistant vests charge upstairs in a building. Okiya has the same clothes on the night he looks out from the Kudo house window and the one where he is standing with some sort of steel structure in the background. That could be the final night or Okiya wearing repeat clothes. The sniper leaves behind a rifle cartridge with the bullet part removed and a dice turned so the number 4, which sounds like "death" in Japanese, is facing upwards. The number might change though with each death because Conan thinks it is a countdown. That would imply six deaths are intended, 3 of which we know about not counting Conan. Since the Navy Seals are involved and a dice is six sided, I think it is worth mentioning Navy SEAL Team Six which is/was famous for elite missions like the takedown of Osama bin Laden (the team has changed its name but the origin is SEAL Team 6). I think that covers about all of it.
