  1. I noticed you have four separate drawing threads in addition to your main thread "I'll be waiting". Should I be combining any of those with your main thread?

  2. It's actually August that is "Kid month" because two Magic Kaito Episodes come out, and we have a Kaito Kid manga case at this time. For September or October (I am thinking of October) I was thinking of having a runoff between the Vermouth and Gin articles because they were really popular last time for featured article. This is why I didn't want to pick any character articles this time, I wanted to save that for the two Black Org guys who will be challenging one another so to speak. Gin's article is going to need a lot of work to be able to match Vermouth's standard, so if there are any plot summaries, or other useful info that you can contribute...

  4. It's been a few days, so I think a double post is OK here... Congrats on a nearly perfect deduction, AJ M.! While Amuro seems to suspect Conan is the one making sleeping Kogoro, I also wonder if he thinks that Conan is being used by someone: someone has given Conan gadgets, is telling Conan what to do, and is making deductions through Conan/Kogoro. The only reason I suggest this option as a possible alternative to Conan being the sole person behind Sleeping Kogoro is that Amuro may still be looking for a way to insert Akai into the situation. Even though, I think the deduction that Conan is the mastermind is better given the evidence Amuro has, and may be the one he is pursuing given the picture at the end. (....maybe Amuro wants an apprentice?) I hope the goal of this post-Bourbon arc is coming up with a strategy to trick Bourbon into buggering off. I would be pretty pleased with that plot development, especially if Ran gets suspicious of Conan as well. Whatever happens, I think Vermouth is not going to be central to bailing Conan out of harm's way this time. In the past when she has protected Conan, she was either conveniently nearby (busjack) or used a little verbal persuasion (FBI vs BO x2). She is not close right now, and if she tries too hard to dissuade Bourbon, she risks focusing Bourbon's suspicion squarely on why she is pushing him from the course of action he is taking. At best, I think Vermouth might send a message to Conan/run into Conan in a dark alleyway and warn him of Bourbon's intentions. I think Sera, Akai, and the rest of team Shin-chan are more likely to be the primary helpers. You could also throw Hattori and Kid in there if you wanted everything to be more complicated. If Kid is going to get involved, we will probably see hints of it next case. If Hattori knew that a BO member was hanging around, he would invite himself into the dead center of the problem like what happened with him and Jodie. That and Hattori would probably try to upstart Amuro in a case no matter what out of principle, because Hattori prefers to be more direct than subtle (and Hattori will get annoyed by Kazuha thinking Amuro is good looking). There are two very immediate problems with Bourbon being suspicious of Conan because they can easily happen very soon: he could hear Shinichi is alive because the Mouris and their friends freely discuss Shinichi, or Amuro decides to stop by Agasa's or Kudo's house to get more info. The Shinichi problem is especially pressing because Sera has poked the issue before, and she may try to do it again. The major third problem, Amuro running into Ai while trying to intercept Conan, say on the way to school, can be alleviated by having Ai walk separately from them and not participate in any Detective Boys activities, like Kid heists. I wouldn't be surprised if Haibara will start doing this on Conan's recommendation anyway to be on the safe side since they know Bourbon has been hanging around. I wonder where Vermouth is living, and if we have seen that building before in the manga.

  6. Can you explain what you mean by themes, and maybe give an example? Detective Conan is universally mystery themed, with some romance, suspense, and action mixed in. The episode type usually depends on the mix of characters that show up. Ones with Kaitou Kid usually include heists, along with the occasional murder. Detective Boys episodes are usually more light hearted. Black Organization episodes are darker and feature lots of disguise, suspense, and deception. Episodes with Heiji are often rivalry/team based. Episodes with the significant others of various characters often include romantic elements. You can find out who shows up in what episode by looking at the wiki, and if you look at the episode list it lists plot developments and romantic developments.
  7. So August is Kaitou Kid month, and why not make the wiki match? Vote for your favorite Kaitou themed page for next featured article! http://www.detectiveconanworld.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=3665

Really? Yay I love kaito and my bday's in august!

  8. Double post but the cars article is going to have been up for a month in about a week from now, so I was thinking it was a good time to think of a switch. Since August is going to be Kaitou Kid spam, I was thinking something Kaitou Kid themed would be good. Instead of a character article, I wanted to pick something else in the Magic Kaito realm because in September/October, I was thinking of having an article drive/runoff between Vermouth and Gin since everyone seemed to like them last poll. So here are some relevant articles... Magic Kaito Nonchalant Lupin One of the already released episodes One of the Kaitou Kid movies (3, 8, 10, 14) One of the Kaitou Kid OVAs (1, 4, 6, 10) The movie 8 prerelease special. Kaito Kuroba and Aoko Nakamori (relationship article) Pandora Gem Magic Kaito Organization List of characters who know Kaitou Kid's identity One of Kaitou Kid's gadgets I suppose if people really want it we could do Kaitou Kid because he is not technically a single character, bit I feel like that would be cheating... IMHO, I like Nonchalant Lupin and would like to see it upgraded to full article status with a comparison between it and Magic Kaito.
  9. I'm doing well. How about you? I just woke up from a nap because I had a surprise all nighter when a postdoc revealed he was taking the piece of equipment I planned on using on a week long roadtrip. Wish your sister luck with the college apps.

  10. According to Sherry, the drug she was developing was never intended to be a poison (V18-9, page 9); she had a different goal in mind which depends on whatever theory you subscribe to (I'm in the immortality/anti-aging camp myself). That's most likely part of why she worked on it willingly; it wasn't intended to be evil, although she realized later that it was something that shouldn't be made. (Chapter 821, pg 7) (It being her parents' legacy may have also encouraged her to work on it.) It just so happened that one of her incomplete, prototype versions worked really well as a poison, so the BO decided to use it for that purpose, which was against Sherry's intentions and wishes. (V18-9, page 9) (References from the APTX article)This doesn't mean Shiho was entirely unwilling to help refine the poison though. It seems she planned to do and may have done some pretty rotten things related to it. We know Shiho intended to follow orders and test the then-thought-of-as-lethal drug on Numabuchi Kiichiro; however, he ran away first and then she protested not long after. The effects of the poison were definitely researched: how would Gin know that it couldn't be detected forensically without someone doing the necessary tests - tests most likely done by Shiho because it was her drug? Also, someone had to make more of the drug to give out to agents, test it as a poison to determine how powerful it was, and dispense it into human lethal dosage sized capsules. Edit: This reminds me, Conan is under a time constraint because Haibara told him that the BO would keep using her drug to murder, and one of these days someone else was going to get shrunk and the BO would find out about the deaging. I wonder if they still worry about this, because it could happen at any time...
  11. Good luck on your college application to Mount Holyoke later, if you choose to apply there. (Or good luck now, if you are applying there currently.)

  12. The problem is that it is a work in progress and some of the vehicles have been identified while others haven't. If you can figure out what they are and add information, that would be excellent.
  13. Maybe it is in reference to this drama centered around locked room mysteries? http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Kagi_no_Kakatta_Heya
  14. That's a pretty good deduction. I think the tennis racket dry ice body moving bit is likely spot on. For the vase, it could be that she shoved some ice/dry ice on one side, and balanced it without having to freeze it overnight. This would be faster and require less preplanning, but preplanning is indicated with the missing key, and your deduction does explain why the whole freezing water bottle element part of the story was brought up in the first place.
  15. I definitely think we are looking at dry ice inside the vase as part of the solution because of the condensation. That ice cream cake would not have stayed cold in his room otherwise. Turning off the air conditioning in the room was to probably speed the sublimation. As for the key, maybe it was wrapped under the grip tape in one of the tennis racket handles? This seems like a case where timing is key, so a detailed chronological listing of where the suspects were in order to look for inconsistencies or opportunities is probably a good idea.
  16. I'm borrowing this post for a stealth theory update on Amuro Tohru later. Please otherwise ignore this. Amuro's Remaining Mysteries V1.3 (January 6, 2014) V1.2 (July 20, 2012) Index: Amuro's youth Amuro's reason for hating Akai Amuro's promise with Vermouth Relationship with Date Wataru Amuro's youth Some of the Black Organization agents seemed to have been groomed for their eventual roles as children or teens, like Shiho. Amuro Tohru was also likely raised around Black Organization, although he may not have directly been a part of it in the beginning. He was allowed to play tennis in middle school (~ages 12-15), assuming Amuro is not lying, so unlike Shiho his life wasn't completely centered on detective training. Gosho's weekly comment joked about the Org having a tennis club, which implies that he was around the Organization at this time. Amuro reported meeting Akemi, Elena, and Miyano Atsushi before they died, and if it is assumed that the Miyano parents died ~18 years ago, Amuro would be 11 when he met them. The Miyano parents didn't seem to go on family visits to outsiders often because the Black Organization would put whoever they visited under observation, (Hidden Bathroom secret) so Amuro being connected to the Org would make such a meeting easier. Amuro seemed to be especially taken by Elena, enough so that it was the first thing he mentioned upon meeting Shiho. It's unknown whether Amuro has any relations to other agents in the Black Organization (none seen so far have darker skin like him), or he was brought in from the outside because he looked promising. Whatever the case, Amuro probably went to police academy on the Black Organization's orders to gain skills as an investigator and then began working for the BO afterwards because he cut off communication with Date. In the January 4, 2014 interview with Gosho, it was revealed that Amuro's childhood will appear in the storyline as well as his childhood nickname. Amuro's dark skin color has a meaning. I imagine this will have to do with his induction into the Organization as a child, or his childhood in the Organization. Amuro's reason for hating Akai -Unknown, since the rivalry over Akemi was jossed- Akai and Amuro having a rivalry over Akemi has been officially jossed by Gosho in the January 4, 2014 interview My feeling is that Amuro and Akemi were once friends, either in a relationship, or even childhood friends who grew up in the Organization together. Amuro's promise with Vermouth In chapter 800, Vermouth reveals she has a promise with Bourbon which went unstated at the time. Amuro's promise with Vermouth is most likely something along the lines of "do not harm Kogoro, Ran, and Conan during the hunt for Akai." There may be a second part: "do what is feasible to protect Conan and Ran from danger", but it is possible that Amuro is choosing to do this on his own for reasons stated below. During the scene where Vermouth mentions that she and Bourbon have a promise with one another, Vermouth is was watching an accident scene where Amuro was finishing up a case that involved Conan being kidnapped and held at gunpoint. Amuro had just rescued Conan using a dangerous car maneuver. In response to Amuro's actions, Vermouth said Bourbon earned some trust and reminds him of the promise. We know that Vermouth has a soft spot for Shinichi and Ran. Watching Amuro intentionally have his car rammed with Ran inside in order to crash the car Conan is in may have prompted Vermouth to remind him of the promise because what Amuro did was dangerous -- and also praise him for earning her trust for a successful rescue. Amuro has a history of getting Conan out of trouble. The first instance was during the Teito Bank Heist where Amuro (as Scar Akai) rescued Conan from a hostage taker by shooting him. Shooting the gun risked calling attention to himself. Amuro later crashed his car to stop Conan's hostage taker (although he was slow to start looking for Conan even though he suspected Conan was taken hostage). Next, he tried to warn Conan about an incoming tennis racket. When Conan was hit anyway, Amuro rushed over, pushing Ran out of the way to get to him and then doctored him. He also seems to want to follow along with what Conan is doing; he hacked into the Mouri Detective agency computer expecting pictures sent by the Detective Boys for Kogoro. Jossed material related to Akemi rivalry motive Relationship with Date Wataru Awaiting more evidence... Date and Amuro likely became friends because Amuro was in police academy with him. (I imagine Amuro went to the police academy under orders of the Black Organization to shape him into an investigator/detective type.) Date probably was a good influence on Amuro. Amuro cut off communication with him after graduating to avoid endangering him because the Black Organization doesn't like police and would be suspicious of Amuro continuing contact.
  17. I wonder if the victim actually jumped across the verandas because his room was locked and his key missing? That might account for his missing shoe if he is not lying on it and we can't see it. I wonder how Conan fits into all this and how he went to sleep? I suppose more relevant information will be revealed next file. Since the tennis courts seem to be in Izu that should be Yokomizo Juugo Sango's territory, but Yamamura was the officer that showed up when they ran to some nearby houses in the suspicious spicy curry case in Volume 40: Files 4-6 (407-409). They are at a suspect's house now, so who knows? Juugo Sango would be nice to see because I think he last appeared in the ecchi Hakone bathhouse on the lake case (724) Eri's birthday (710), but watching Amuro trying to deal with the dumbest cop would be highly amusing. Conan doesn't have his watch on him currently, so either Amuro/Juugo Sango will do the heavy lifting or Conan will produce it from somewhere.
  18. It's possible, but as said previously it would be more work than anyone could ever commit unless we got a bot writer onboard (no one has ever shown interest), and probably not worth it as no one would ever use them when editing therefore forcing the very few users who patrol edits to constantly be fixing everyone else. If you are curious about the correct pronunciation, you'll just have to stick to looking at the pronunciation guide in the infobar on the right.
  19. Macrons are annoying to type -- there is no way anyone who edits the wiki would ever use them other than the most dedicated pedantic users. Because most people editing tend to spell the names however they are used to rather than how they should be (I forget constantly to use English order, type Shuuichi with one "u", and spell Tohru as Tooru), the wiki tends to use the most common romanizations for convenience, which results in a predicable mess, but a mess most English speaking fans are familiar with and can search for. Also, we have no automated bots to change the hundreds, if not thousands, of prexisting uses.
  20. Edit added some more translation in the post above this one.
  21. Conan knew that Akai would be going undercover after faking his death, because I assume they worked together on the fake death plan because of the Conan's two cellphone fingerprint trick. (He would also know if Yukiko gave Akai the supplies to make an Okiya disguise) My theory was that Akai and Conan decided before Raiha Pass that Akai would say something to Conan when they met, so Conan would know it's him. I noticed that as soon as Okiya quoted Sherlock Holmes to Conan in his introductory case, Conan's attitude towards him changed immediately. Before, when Haibara got the sense, Conan asked her what was wrong a couple times, meaning he didn't seem to know Akai was around to give her that feeling. He wouldn't want to press the issue, draw attention to it, and make her more nervous if he knew it was only Akai. When Okiya first began speaking, Conan had given him a dark look because he mentioned liking the color black. Perhaps that tipped Conan off because then Conan quoted a line from Holmes right afterwards. When Okiya stepped in with the reply, Conan seemed pretty happy. (All this takes place in chapters 622 and 623 in Volume 60 if you want to check for yourself.)
