  1. And now the inevitable round of people bitching about how they hate the recent developments because they weren't surprising after reading all the fan theories.

They shouldn't have read the fan theories if they want to be surprised by the development. That's why spoiler boxes are invented. It's their fault, not anybody else. And IT ISN'T the fault of the fans, because WE the HARDCORE fans of DC formulate our theories based on our observations. AND THAT IS THE REASON WHY FORUMS ARE CREATED. If they want to be surprised, THEY SHOULDN'T READ SPOILERS.

  2. No, she wasn't. Chances are highly likely she was only Scar Akai this time. We know she wasn't Scar Akai in the Beika dept store case. Anyway it was confirmed in 822 that Sera Masumi is Akai's sister.
  3. Spoilers for non translated files need to be in boxes. 822 and below is safe to discuss without boxes.
  4. I think it was because she was a female "high school" detective. I wouldn't be surprised if her following dropped with Sera on the scene. The only problem is that Sera is not very feminine.
  5. I looked through the chapters to try to figure that out yesterday. I think she might have bugged the room because Scar Akai had hands in pockets when the kids, Ran, and Sonoko passed in the hallway - although she could have bugged one of the people. Amuro had to bug someone as well for him to hear about the murder case in detail despite not being around. He also knew when Sera was going to run by his door despite being in his own room the whole time, and Sera did say she was going to take the video to the kids while Kogoro was around. I think he might have bugged Kogoro himself when they met in the dining car.

  7. Everything is better with videos Heiji speaking English Conan speaks something that sort of sounds like English. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=42Y7P8FFGyA
  8. Something strikes me as odd with Conan's deduction. If the guy really put string up in the hall to open his own door, wouldn't the wheelchair from D had run into it since Andou would have placed it when he went to room B around the time of the phone call? Also Conan failed to mention who was the running person. There might be something else going on here, especially since last chapter's questioning...
  9. It's been translated for nearly a week.
  10. Sera is not a forensic investigator. There has been no police evaluation saying that there is gunpowder on the victim's hand; it was an assumption Sera made. This is why I suggested the alernate solution that Murobashi himself fired that shot on instructions from the culprit. See the notes section. Maybe he didn't mind because he was being blackmailed. If he is the one holding a working weapon, that is reassuring if he is being threatened, right? This was done before she ever got on the train when one of the culprits was in disguise as a cabin attendant. She can't be possessive about her room if she isn't in it. Maybe they took clothes with them to wherever they wheeled to, like a bathroom? I explained this in the beginning.
  11. I read your deduction Detective Kudo and I am a bit confused how the locked room trick works. Does the culprit break into and then exit the room, or was he there from the start and then only came back to his room after the shooting and someone else opened his door first? By "Fourth, it is clearly an extra lock there", do you mean there is clearly an extra link in 8B's door chain which has six links (not counting end rings) while 8E has only five? Reference for my earlier attempted solution
  12. So I took a look through the thread and I think that it would be an excellent time to return back to the original topic of politics and social issues of concern to gay people, and away from topics about the validity of religion or certain religious interpretations. While religious issues are sometimes relevant to LGBT issues, it's one giant flamewar causing headache and as a moderator, I don't want to have to deal with it and the hurt feelings that come out of it. Let me be clear I am not picking sides, I don't want this to escalate anymore.
  13. We have a topic for this in general discussion here Since this is on the wrong board, I'm going to lock this thread and encourage posting over there instead.

  15. It's hard to judge between non-identical-perspective panels, but the hallway may be skinnier in first class versus others.
  16. Here is a more complete shot at the solution to the case:
  17. Like I said before, this is false info...
  18. I really like the idea of a folding mirror. The frame being solid gold could easily be a lie to hide the excess weight of the mirror. The non reflective side of the mirror could be disguised as something else. Glass with a black background I don't think would be reflective enough. The image would be too fuzzy/distorted. That said it's possible a roll up something reflective, but I don't think it went that way. Also an excellent point, even though we don't know whether the residue is there or not. When I get around to making a full-assed solution instead of a half-assed one, I will be sure to credit you for your ideas.
  19. Forced to post early before I get scooped on my case solution. Still, I think you will all like the half-assed job.

  20. I was all excited about revealing the solution to everyone in one big dramatic swoop, but it seems someone else in the dctp spoiler cbox noticed the same thing I did, so here is part of the solution now. I want to post before I get scooped! Basically there is a big mirror that was placed in the hall to trick the conductor and hide the person doing the shooting (like one of the ace attorney games!) The conductor was really seeing himself. The darkness caused by going through the tunnel makes the trick harder to notice. Who has a luggage case big enough to fit a large mirror and whose room is in the right position? Dude in room C! I am still deciding on the timing of working everything out and exactly how many people must have collaborated to make this plan work. The timing is pretty tight, which makes multiple suspects collaborating to create the illusion that there is no way someone could set up a giant mirror and maneuver a strong option. Someone has to hold the mirror in place for one (Room C). D's wheelchair lady and assistant passed by just before the mirror went up so they should have seen it, yet they failed to report it. They might be the shooter then. C put it away after they passed. I assume Conan was comparing runs to see who might be the masked culprit from the fake death earlier that the DB chased. The wheelchair pusher run was the only one we were allowed to see, and it does match the DB culprit's run. She also has the right stature and face shape for the job. I suppose this means the wheel chair pusher was responsible for the initial set up to get the guy in room 8B. So C and D working together seems likely. Also, I think the suspect was shot through the small opening of his already chained door by gunner rather than the person going in to make a locked room trick. There was no locked room trick at all; the victim chained his own door. The entry and exit wound direction (819.16) seems to fit the angle appropriate for a shot taken from the door based on the image of Sera and Conan finding the body.(819.15) When the shooter opened the door while the victim was holding the pistol he was told to hold, he turned to look at who opened it. The shot on the sofa was to draw the victim's attention to the sofa. This was so that when the second killing headshot happened, he would be facing forwards which is the right direction for the second shot to make it look like a suicide. Maybe you all can figure out the rest before I can. Cheers. Can't be unseen.
  21. No precise date has been given for Ran's birthday, even in non-canon anime originals. I'm not sure where the October 1st date comes from, but I have yet to see any real justification for it.
  22. I still chalk it up to art variation, but if you insist upon it being different you could say Vermouth did it differently applying the mask to herself versus when she did it for Amuro.
  23. Normally Amuro would be doing it, but this time I guess they decided to give Scar Akai a voice which only Vermouth could do. Perhaps they are starting to execute a use-Masumi-to-lure-out-Akai-and-therefore-Sherry type plan which requires Scar Akai to have a voice rather than be mute? Vermouth can't really do everything as she wants because Amuro, who is presumably more loyal to the Black Org than she, is watching. Vermouth has to pretend like she doesn't know Ai is Shiho and concoct a plan looking for a 18 year old.
