Disappearing letters murder case (781-???)

I like that "collapse of gestaltism". I would think that it would be difficult to rely on though, especially for something as instinctual as a name. -
Disappearing letters murder case (781-???)
Chekhov MacGuffin replied to Chekhov MacGuffin's topic in Manga series
若 Maybe it's the calligraphy, but the bottom half of that first character doesn't look like it matches, especially that little right leg on the downward stroke which is separated from the difficult to read bit right of it. Nevermind. Abs. told me it was cursive and thus the same character. Never liked cursive, English or otherwise. -

I've also heard that after this file 785 there will be a break because Gosho is taking one. Then there will be another break after file 786 (the resolution) because Shounen Sunday takes a week off. -
I know it was originally left up as a reference, but maybe it's time to take it down because the wiki has long surpassed it as a reference? People still ask questions in the forums about not being able to watch videos and it's interrupted a thread recently. Maybe they wouldn't get confused if it didn't exist? If the watch thread is not gotten rid of, maybe it would be better to change the green message to something slightly stronger like. Sorry, but all the videos were removed because the site was issued an official takedown notice in the past. See the forum for more details (or announcements). The following list is currently for informational purposes only.

1) A locked topic is one where posting has been disabled. Basically the thread is closed. 2) Posting of full episodes as one chunk or in parts is not allowed because lawyers threatened the site before (which is why the watch section doesn't work). Clips of episodes that show specific scenes or compilations of scenes are OK because those aren't full episodes. AMVs are OK too. Also, let me remind you guys that this thread is for questions about Detective Conan, not the Detective Conan World website itself. If you have questions about DCW or how it works, please ask on the Issues and Feedback subforum.

What is the connection between Gin and Sherry?
Chekhov MacGuffin replied to Kiel95's topic in General
His age has never been given. I personally estimate he's around Akai's age, but it's impossible to judge because of the ambiguous way Gosho draws him. -
Detective Conan Episode 623 (Eng Sub)

Site Policy is no links to full anime episodes, subbed or not. Thread locked -
Besides the obvious Gosho wanted it to scar, it was probably deeper damage than most other characters injured in the face received. In the manga there was a bit of blood and if you look closely you can see glass was also involved in the cut as well as the bullet. It depends on the timeframe you look at. If you assume everything is happening in less then a year, they get sick a lot. If you think about it from the perspective that 15+ years of seasons have gone by, they don't get sick that often, once a year or less on average. Jodie was facing backwards by the time he looked up? (at least in the manga)

Nice to meet you too. I'm not very active in forum games, so I hope you will meet me by posting in General D!

Who's better off with Shinichi? Haibara Ai or Ran??
Chekhov MacGuffin replied to Chianti's topic in General
It's a more serious lie, but it's one done for reasons Shinichi thinks is good - he thinks Ran is going to jump in and get herself killed. He really has no reason to lie to Haibara because she knows the situation, and neither she to him. They basically don't cooperate against the BO when they could be stronger together. That's worse. Given her faith in Shinichi so far she will manage. I said as much in the original post, but one sided mistrust is better than mutual mistrust. Sports and they like many of the same people. They also have a similar set of ideals (justice, determination, and all).Haibara and Conan don't share many interests either if you think about. She trusts him and they both have a similar set of values which is important for any long term relationship. Experience and intelligence yes, but tastes and traits no. -
It's on topic because it's DC related. That Magic Kaito anime episode was a special which is "a part of" Detective Conan. Kaito Kid didn't become popular because of his own manga, it was his appearances in DC that launched his character. They aren't really animating them in earnest although more episodes might come out. I heard a rumor about something this summer. Take a look in the anime subforum for more info.Edit: There doesn't seem to be any info on this in this forum. Try here: http://forums.dctp.ws/index.php?topic=6647.0 If you are talking about how they get money, they blackmail people, steal it directly, as well as recruit investors for their projects. BO members who are high ranking in non-illegal companies (like Pisco) may also funnel money to the BO; Pisco's BO division is "fundraising" according to official guidebook Conan Drill. There was a case involving information about gold the BO may have had. Besides operations and supplies, Conan suspects they use a lot of their money for research projects, including APTX and getting programmers to make programs for them (like Itakura). You can find more information at the BO wiki page or take a look at theories in various forum threads like "Black Organization's true plan".

What is the connection between Gin and Sherry?
Chekhov MacGuffin replied to Kiel95's topic in General
I suggest you avoid page 5. As an Aicon, I have accepted the fact that it's more likely Gin and Shiho have made it to home plate than Shinichi and Shiho will make it to first base. That Gin and Vermouth are/have been in a sexual relationship is canon. It's in one of the official guidebooks. -
Who's better off with Shinichi? Haibara Ai or Ran??
Chekhov MacGuffin replied to Chianti's topic in General
To be fair to Ran here, it's not all happy in the Ai camp either. Both lie to each other and neither trusts the other. It really stands out when you read several plot related chapters in a row. Haibara pitches a fit pretty much every time Conan goes out to stop the Org from doing bad things, and Conan tries to hide what he has learned or ditch Haibara (or lock her in Agasa's basement) whenever he gets a lead. At least Ran trusts Shinichi, even if he doesn't give her that benefit.Conan hiding stuff - list not complete 33-8 hiding news of stolen files – Haibara says that kind of behavior is “strangling” her and Ran. Not telling Haibara about info Agasa learned about Vermouth on web page. Not telling her about Itakura’s diary. Knocks Haibara out with wrsitwatch and locks her in Agasa's basement before confrontation with Vermouth 582 Conan not wanting her to come investigate Eisuke Hondou’s father. Tells her to stay in the car. Not telling Ai about finding Kir. 48-10 Not telling her about Bourbon or scar Akai Not telling her about Akai living next door (for a good reason though because of the Akemi incident) Ai hiding stuff - list not complete Lots and lots of black org related stuff obviously. – purpose of APTX and other things like that. The true name of the org: multiple times she has said “the people you call the men in black” as in the scene where she pretends to shoot Conan. This implies she knows another name for them. Another BO presence at the Haido city hotel until after the fact. (Vermouth) Haibara saved the floppy from the Haido City Hotel and doesn’t tell Conan about it. You can see a bloody disk in the stack during the events of desperate revival. (25.9/251 pg8 and ep188) Age of project. (189) There is room for feelings between Conan and Ai if some things change. The most obvious way to change Haibara’s character. First, to gain Conan’s trust that she won’t attempt a sacrifice routine if she encounters a difficult org situation, Haibara needs to be stronger in the face of her enemies i.e. not want to avoid all situations with them. Also, while she has been trending in this direction, Haibara needs to not dress up her actions driven by her sense of righteousness with claimed motivations like getting APTX, or keeping her cover safe. On the opposite side, Conan could change to appreciate more that Haibara's time in the Org had forced her to be closed, cold, untrusting, and paranoid, and also that Haibara frequently doesn’t often say what she really means or thinks. He could also try to be more trusting of her, and try to keep her abreast of his thoughts and the current situation, even if it means Haibara worries. -
Disappearing letters murder case (781-???)
Chekhov MacGuffin replied to Chekhov MacGuffin's topic in Manga series
And double post for solution version #2. It's long, so I tried to divide it up into sections. I estimate this case is going to end at 786 the way things are going. Disappearing letters murder case (781-???)
Chekhov MacGuffin replied to Chekhov MacGuffin's topic in Manga series
Switching the poll out now we have an additional murder The previous question and results are... Who was the culprit behind Wakamatsu Kouhei's death? Wakamatsu Ikurou (25): Kouhei's son (5 votes [45.45%]) Wakamatsu Serika (43) : Kouhei's wife (1 votes [9.09%]) Shiina Masashige (56): Design company senior managing director (0 votes [0.00%]) Fujinami Sumio (30): Design company chief designer and football head (1 votes [9.09%]) Satake Yoshimi (32): Victim's Secretary (2 votes [18.18%]) Yonehara Sakurako (23): Housekeeper (0 votes [0.00%]) Someone else (0 votes [0.00%]) It was an accident (0 votes [0.00%]) It was really a suicide (0 votes [0.00%]) I am not ready to vote yet (2 votes [18.18%]) More than one person (0 votes [0.00%]) Feel free to keep discussing this question and the others. I am currently working on a revised solution. This is certainly a tough case. -
Only if the character who betrays makes sense and it is all logical and rational in hindsight. Not like Agasa was evil and never told anyone about Haibara and Conan because he was testing them or some garbage nonsense like that.

I don't recall Gosho ever doing this. This would be too cheap, even for Gosho. I edited my post with additional problems after I posted. Sorry. I don't think the FBI would be good enough to do it based on the additional problems I mentioned above. It's dark and vague red gunk pouring from the back of Akai's head is close enough. The camera's perspective doesn't allow Gin to see the back of the head. I'd argue that the small exit wound is a sign squibs and bloodpackets were used, but Gosho is a fan of pretty little headshots, so I'm not sure it would be valid to go there. I think we have enough info to have a pretty good idea of what happened especially for the critical fake death part.

Preventing this is primarily a matter of cleaning the gun properly beforehand which isn't suspicious even if Kir was being watched because confirming the working of a gun you have just been given is standard as far as I know from my limited experience. With only one shot prior to the second, the gun probably isn't going to get gunked up enough to spit shrapnel at Akai's forehead. Also note that Akai's forehead will be shielded by an unobtrusive protective plate to prevent direct damage from the squib detonating the fake blood packets. This may help help with minor debris. This is likely because they needed someone to conveniently arrange a traffic accident to call the police to the scene and force Gin to retreat before he can confirm things or take extra precautions. Conan was in Tokyo at the time so it isn't him. Maybe, but the readers watched the assassination unfold not on camera. Basically Gosho showed side shots and closeups and such that Kir's camera wouldn't have been able to see. If it was a camera trick, we should have watched Akai's assassination on Gin and Vodka's TV through the camera because it would be unfair to the readers to not clarify the scene they witnessed was taken through a camera. In short, I don't think the signal was hijacked because of the way Gosho drew everything. From a technical standpoint, I think hijacking would have a much greater rate of failure than faking gunshots realtime. It would have to be set and filmed in advance. This creates all sorts of problems. The filmers need to take the time to disguise someone as Kir and rush to Raiha pass before the meeting. It also means they don't know what kind of gun Kir will be using, so basically they are screwed if they get the gun type wrong. Also prerecorded videos don't allow for real time reactions or verbal responses to Gin's commands. They're SOL if he orders Kir to vocally acknowledge him, look around, set the bomb to a specific length of time, etc. You also better hope no one drives by in the background or a noticeable gust of wind doesn't pick up. You would have to figure out the frequency used in order to hijack it, and hope to hell the signal isn't encrypted. Kir is being watched up until the assassination so communicating this info back to the Akai's potential signal hijacking accomplices would be risky and extremely difficult. In short, I think it's far too reliant on luck to work.
