Ayumi Kidnapping Case #2 (File 775-777)
Chekhov MacGuffin replied to Stopwatch's topic in Manga series
Maybe she decided they weren't harboring Akai and thus were not relevant to her investigation anymore? I don't really know.If you go by the theory Sera is Akai's sister and is trying to find him theory (and she is not an FBI agent), then Sera probably does not know the details about the Black Organization, although she may knows some sort of organization exists after word trickled down from her brother/people she new. She knows Conan and Akai had some relationship right before Akai disappeared so she has been investigating Conan and the people around him looking for hints. Agasa seemed to be a dead end, a little girl (who she doesn't know is Sherry) and an old man living alone. At this point we don't know enough about what Sera is doing to say whether her intentions are good or not, but the unnecessarily suspicious speech at the end indicates she's not a bad guy. Only good guys are made out to be unnecessarily suspicious. (Jodie, Akai, Eisuke, Camel, Okiya) -

I've heard this from multiple sources as well, but who says Gosho can't double pun?
-
I appreciate the clarification.

612/613 is Beikaville hound, but the anime doesn't always go in order, so you missed a case or two before then. Start with "Air on the G-string" which is File 728, corresponding to episodes (614-615). A-not-yet-anime Kaito Kid case comes after Air on the G string which you will probably like.

Definitely the way I lean on this issue except I subscribe to the Vermouth-is-not-aging rather than got-younger-all-of-a-sudden theory.
-
If you mean me, I've probably read every case about three times now, and plot related cases a dozen times or more. The first read through was in order, but later readthroughs were out of order, and I don't really keep track, so it's kind of hard to guess how many times I've been through. In case you are wondering, you notice a lot more stuff by rereading. It also helps to keep notes, like stuff you found suspicious or dangling plots.

Dus brought him up on DCTP once before. My main issue with him is that the crow motif he had going is overly obvious, Gosho usually aims for more subtle wordplay. The other thing is he built a freaking gold-plated mansion. I just can't see a secretive careful person like anokata going in for the over-the-top bling. That's one of the guestbook names, it's in one of the books Heiji is reading (28-8 pg 12). I don't know particularly what to make of it.

No for the Drill, but I am not sure about the others

I think that's a bit off. I've got as a translation: "Jeez, Relax... The purpose of my research wasn't to develop that kind of utopic medicine ['nostrum to raise the dead']. Most people on earth wouldn't see the merit of such a stupid thing... Yes, just like those Hina dolls that only mean something to the girls of this small country" - Basically Haibara's comparing the limited appeal of Hina dolls worldwide to creating something that would raise the dead.

Whether above answer is correct or not correct answer
-
Wife, most likely. Yatagarasu! </too much ace attorney> But seriously, maybe is has something crow/raven/black-colored-bird related because of the Nanatsu no ko and crow-looking dress code. Knowing Gosho, it would probably be some hideous kanji radical rearrangement wordplay that no non-native speaker could get. If I remember correctly, there was an interview where Aoyama said he chose the liquor codenames because they sounded cool: an answer which doesn't sound plot relevant. Anyone think of any connections between Moriarty and crows/ravens, or eternal life/deaging and crows/ravens?
-
This one can be googled for the answer, so you'll have to abide by a code of honor. If I forget to post the answer, or you think you have it, PM me because I will probably forget to check this thread. A dragon of mediocre intelligence and a clever knight live on an island, which has seven normal tasting, but poisoned water wells, numbered one through seven. If you drink from a poisoned well you can only save yourself by drinking from a higher numbered well. Well number seven is located at the top of a high mountain, so only the dragon can reach it. The knight and the dragon decide the island isn’t big enough for the both of them and so they have a duel of wits. Each of them brings a glass of water to the duel, they exchange glasses, and drink. After the duel, the knight lives and the dragon dies. Why? Notes: Poisoning is slow, allowing enough time for the knight and dragon to make it to any of the wells they can reach. Poisoning from each well is indistinguishable. Drinking from any higher number well will cure poisoning from any lower level one, but drinking from the same number will still result in poisoning.

Before anyone complains about the double post, there is a limit to the number of quotes allowed per post. But despite that no one is dead yet. I think that was a veiled reference to a theory of hers that maybe Akai is hiding out in Shinichi’s house or something. I’ll have to think about it. While suspicious, it doesn’t show she has bad intentions. Judging by the timing of when she knew about Agasa (beginning of the hostage case), she probably learned about him as part of her investigation on Conan and the people around him. I don’t think the video was involved yet because I didn’t see the vase or the rug during the hostage case. She could just send their pictures to someone who would know. Vermouth, Pisco, and Akai could tell Haibara was Shiho as soon as they got a good look at her. Vermouth recognized Shinichi right away as well. I do wonder why he decided to step up his protection all of a sudden, to the point where Haibara wears a hat going out because she is disgusted that he is following. He may have learned about the video, but I would have thought he would have informed Conan about it. Maybe the last Agasa kidnapping case made him worried even though it was random criminals? Rena would mention the FBI finding out. The FBI and CIA are allies. Of course you run into all the Okiya is a third person problems with this: How does Okiya know how to operate Conan's tracking glasses and that they track the detective badges when Conan has never used the tracking glasses in front of Okiya before, why does Ran seem to recognize Okiya, why Haibara gets the Black Org vibe, etc… Yuusaku mentioned knowing some knows Interpol guys, not CIA guys. (V6-1 pg 15) Different group of people. I already said what I wanted to say about problems with any Okiya is a third party theory. The timing on this doesn’t make sense, Okiya appeared well before scar Akai’s first appearance. I’ll get back to you on this when I complete a full determination of Sera's handedness.Later Edit: She seems more right handed than left handed. http://www.detectiveconanworld.com/wiki/User:Chekhov_MacGuffin/Handedness#Sera

Long post is long I think the fact he looks like Shuu is enough to make him suspect regardless of how much he shows up. Akai seems to be dead, so what’s this guy doing wandering around alive? The manga sidebars have been assuming Shuu is the real Shuu. I’m sticking to three. It has been stated Bourbon believes he is the only guy who could kill Akai Shuuichi, so Bourbon must believe that it’s highly likely Akai tricked Gin somehow and is out there somewhere. Therefore Bourbon came up with a plan to disguise as Akai and appear in front of the people most likely to help with any plan Akai had, Akai’s closest FBI friends, and gauge from their reactions to the disguise whether Akai is really dead. If Bourbon truly believes he is the only person who can kill Akai and deeply despises him, then he would be willing to disguise as Akai in order to achieve his goal and get the chance to hunt down and kill Akai himself. In the Shiragami case, there is a comparable scenario where a teenager who wanted to get revenge on Shinchi Kudo underwent plastic surgery to copy Shinichi's appearance exactly and then attempted to carry out and blame Shinichi for a murder. Also, appearing as Akai will rub salt in the wounds of the agents who cared about him. I agree with the weirdo part, disguising as your worst enemy is taking a personal vendetta awfully far, but the personality and the motive all fits with what we know. So you seem to be saying Scar Akai is Bourbon here which contradicts with Sera being Bourbon. Unless there are two Bourbons, but that would be confusing. I agree with this with a little modification to the identities of the people involved. Scar Akai (Bourbon) is looking for Okiya (real Akai). Subaru did knowscar Akai was afake because he IS Akai. Gin was initially confused, but Vermouth told Gin about Bourbon’s plan. Yep, and the he also probably knows Conan can somehow change his voice. Quote from here: http://forums.dctp.ws/index.php?topic=993.msg17299#msg17299 The eyes are unique, and the brother sister with matching eyes clue has been used once before with Eisuke and Hidemi. There is also the Sayla Mass/Char Aznable puns to consider. And the kinky/wavy hair. I think the panty shots have cleared up Sera’s gender, and if that isn’t enough 777 adds to the physical proof. Are you saying Vermouth disguised herself, or Vermouth helped Sera disguise? I think it would have to be coincidental, anything else would imply Agasa was in league with the Org. Also I think the video was published after Sera appeared. I don’t think the rug and vase were out when Agasa’s house was shown during the hostage case earlier.

Couldn't he have faked it???? If he was the boss, then it's not a surprise he faked his death to go on a hiding... And gosho did hint that it was someone Ai could never expect. While whether a fake death was involved is up in the air, there definitely is something fishy going on with the Miyanos' deaths. Despite what various characters have said, whatever happened to Elena and Atsushi Miyano probably wasn't a sudden death accident. Elena took the time to leave tapes for Shiho, and given the theme of the tapes' content, it suggests Elena was intentionally leaving something behind for her daughter. Most people don't leave such deliberate mementos if they think that they will be alive later. The act of leaving the tapes indicates that Elena knew something would happen or she was about to do something that she might not survive. A situation where death is known to be likely doesn’t seem like it should be called an “accident”. The contradiction could be resolved if the incident involved a slow death, i.e. there was an accident and then Elena left the tapes as she was dying. Another possibility is that whatever dangerous thing the Miyano's undertook that killed them was kept secret even from other highly ranked BO members like Pisco. Still another possibility is that the Miyano's didn't die, but faked their death (or tried to) in an accident and Elena prepared the tapes before going into hiding. You're welcome. I personally have always been a fan of the "Mouri-arty" theory since I realized Kogoro's family background is a big black hole that Gosho has never offered any hints about despite Kogoro being a main character. I think Kogoro's relatives and their past are hiding major plot, be it a crime related to the Black Org that is a major key that will allow Conan to uncover the boss's identity (or something else equally big like the location of the boss or some operatives' real names), or that the boss himself/herself is a Mouri. (Note I am NOT saying Kogoro is the boss. That would be silly.)As for a relative of Kogoro's ordering Kogoro's death, I don't really think this a problem because they are likely estranged. Neither Ran nor Kogoro mention anyone related to them, family visits, or anything like that as would be expected of a normal extended family situation (see Sonoko for comparison). I think Atsushi and Elena Miyano are a bit too young to be anokata, assuming their aging is normal, and the boss has been the same one all along. It would also meant they ordered the deaths of their daughters. Elena I am definitely against being the boss per what I listed in the not the boss list about how nice she seemed. Atsushi is less clear-cut because we don't know what kind of person he was. He did marry Elena though and brought his daughter on a visit to a friend's house.

No. Double post guidelines apply everywhere, including offtopic. Single post whenever able, unless you have a really, really, really good reason not to.As an addendum, don't double post, even more than a day apart, for the sole purpose of reviving a thread/keep it going. If no one else is interested, the thread needs to stay dead. Blogs are for monologuing, not forums.

Ayumi Kidnapping Case #2 (File 775-777)
Chekhov MacGuffin replied to Stopwatch's topic in Manga series
Well, there is research money going into ears and ear prints, so forensics people are apparently trying to find out. http://www.forensic-evidence.com/site/ID/ID00004_4.html http://www.forensic-evidence.com/site/ID/IDearCamera.html -
In 425 DJ was "Diamond no Jack" or Jack of Diamonds in English. In card reading/fortune telling the different playing card suits correspond to elements. Diamonds correspond to earth. Domon had the character for earth in his name if I remember correctly. The last riddle "Bein B" was really supposed to be "Vane B". The pronunciation difference is due to a lack of correspondence between the sounds of Japanese and English; certain sounds get changed between the two because they don't exist/get treated differently. The vane is a reference to the vane of an arrow, which is the feathers or fletching. Toriya means bird dealer.

I've been looking for this interview forever. Thanks a bunch. 1 rep for you. It's the other way around! Note that it's only specific about the name, not the boss! Why bother specifying only the name of the boss has appeared if the boss has actually shown up in person? This is a hint that while the name has appeared, the boss himself/herself may have not.

Ayumi Kidnapping Case #2 (File 775-777)

777 Conan's proof the coffee stain marks on the rug are Ayumi's reminds me of the The Adventure of the Cardboard Box. -
I'd imagine she'd probably go the same way as Akai: colder, more introverted, being unable to forget and move on, still dwelling on the past. Unlike Akai, there would probably be a lot of crying at first. Her tenacious personality means she'd probably take a few years to get over it. She'd probably avoid trying to see Shinichi in person, but she would still read his articles in the newspaper. Kogoro would probably hate Shinichi's guts for depressing Ran. Kogoro and Ran's relationship might degrade a bit. Sonoko would be there as support though and would lift Ran's spirits.

The forum is pretty flexible. Try to edit your previous post unless your additional content is substantially different, like you rethought something, or you have new information to add that goes well beyond your previous post. If you are quoting or replying to multiple people, edit your previous post. The one day rule is a good rule of thumb, but I have broken it by posting a self-contained solution to the current case after a separate post replying to someone else. I have also combined people's posts that are separated by more than 24 hours. Just try to be sensible and it will work out. Necroing is longer than seven days on this forum, but it doesn't matter. The basic rules are that you should necro a thread rather than start a new one on the same topic. Please only necro old threads when you have something new or thought provoking to add to the discussion. Don't necro threads if you don't have anything more than "I agree/disagree" or "my view of things in one sentence that someone else posted earlier and I didn't see it because I didn't read any of the other posts". Mods aren't going to delete your posts, but it's annoying to find current topics pushed to the second page. If you want to necro a bunch (15+) of threads, space it out over a few days to avoid this. Finally, don't post to jack up your post count and don't have offtopic conversations in the threads. That is what PMs and the offtopic area are for.
