What's the hardest case conan has ever encountered?
Chekhov MacGuffin replied to shinichilovessran's topic in General
What case are you referring to? Volume 23 Chapters 4-9 / 225-230 / Episode 174 (The 20 Year Old Murder Case)I don't know if that is the hardest for Conan, but for the readers it was difficult. -
Akai x Yukiko? That one's new...

DCW'S Pairing Name Project!!!*NEW*
Chekhov MacGuffin replied to Ainaji's topic in Ideas and feedback
I am not sure fans will adopt other names for the pairings without overcoming a lot of inertia. You can try and see how it goes. Yes, i know it o.o we're only putting new names to them ^^ On the Wiki especially, we should follow whatever the clearest and most easily understandable convention is. I am in favor of the current system which is Name1 and Name2. It is unambiguous and general enough to cover non-romance character relationships - like say mortal enemies. -
After the end of the Black Organization
Chekhov MacGuffin replied to Ran Mouri and Shinichi's topic in General
I am almost certain she won't take the antidote and stay a kid. -
Extremely obvious suit + tendency for public appearances in high up locations + high powered sniper rifle capable of piercing body armor = Gin's win. If the Black Org. was after Kid and wanted him dead, he would be - which is why, besides Gosho's word, that I don't think the two organizations are the same. And before someone mentions the laser spot, you can shoot without using it.

She was trying to lure out Akai Shuuichi and kill him in NY.

JodiexAkai is probably my favorite Detective Conan pairing. Someone has to drag that man out of the angst pit he seems to like to hide himself in, and someone has to to keep an eye on that woman's over-enthusiasm. I like the pairing because it is funny, yet complicated by a lot of flaws. It's like a negative foil of the ShinRan: instead of being able to maintain their relationship when apart, Akai and Jodie become more distant because they don't have the seemingly fairytale ability of Shinichi and Ran to never doubt one another and keep hanging on. It also is unique among the DC pairings for being uncertain, it is possible Akai will warm up to Jodie eventually in future events, but it may very well not work out - too much may have happened for them to be happy with one another. That unpredictability really draws me to it. I will be surprised if no one mentions GinxAkai. With all the Shinichi Kaito twincest, you would think this one would have fans. Ick.

The main problem with the theory "James is the boss" is why he hasn't used any of the FBI info to the Org's benefit. James knows info that would be fatal to Haibara, Conan, Kir, and possibly Vermouth. If the boss was a spy and he doesn't want the Org destroyed, why isn't he doing his job when he has the means to help maintain the Org's secrecy and remove active threats against them? James knows Haibara is the person called Sherry. (See Volume 42 File 11 discussing the witness protection offer the FBI made Haibara) No one in the Org besides Vermouth has shown any signs of knowing where Sherry is, so basically if James is the boss, he hasn't told anyone even though he directed his subordinates to go look for her. Why would the boss order his subordinates to hunt down Shiho, but not make any effort to help them, or even work against them by aiding the FBI and offering her witness protection? It doesn't make sense. James also knows about Conan and his effective interference with the Org's plans, but again, there has been no action on James' part. Conan was able to get the best of Vermouth with the FBI's help. He is a dangerous threat. In her intro chapters, Haibara told Conan that she thought the Org would kill him before she had the chance to study him; basically the Org's first priority is to stay secret and then get on with research. Also the boss was stated to be very cautious by Vermouth. Why is the boss risking so much by allowing Conan to run about freely and muck with Org plans? Also James knows Kir is a CIA mole. Why keep her around? Why can't the BO set a trap for her and kill her while she contacts the CIA, or pretend they caught her calling the CIA? Or knowing she was a CIA mole, couldn't he guess the plan that allowed Kir and Akai to fake Akai's death? (He knows how Camel escaped or could ask him later, and I presume Gin and Vodka have the video) Basically, James would know about the same amount of info as the readers. He should be able to figure it out if he is smart. If James was the boss, he would know that Vermouth made a move on Sherry, and that Vermouth not only failed to capture/kill her, she also lied about what she was doing and left a "witness" to her plans (Araide) alive. Vermouth made a very big slip-up here. Even if she is his favorite, why should he tolerate destructive-to-the-Organization behavior? I searched but couldn't find a source for that - I found a recent play, but not an original one. In any case, James Black's name may not be his real name; maybe James Black was having a bit of a joke with an alias. In any case, it would be kind of silly for Gosho to point out the name pun so obviously if he was the boss. It seems more like a red herring to make the Vermouth arc harder in my opinion. I don't remember this. You wouldn't be thinking of the damaged tape where Vodka disguises his voice and claims to be from "Kuro life insurance" on a message machine? The pause there was because the tape was damaged by an unrelated case culprit's trick. (If that is what you are remembering, Vodka was trying to lure out Hirota to kill him because of his connection to Akemi and therefore Shiho might try to use him to escape.) He was actively driving for a mission in Org vs. FBI; he pulled up alongside Kir while Jodie in the passenger seat leveled her gun at Kir. He also had a bomb in a pot of flowers delivered to him in Red vs. Black.Basically, to sum it up, with everything James knows, if he was the boss, it would be really easy to plan some kind of accidents for Conan and Haibara that would fool even the FBI, especially after the FBI apparently lost their trump card Akai. Maybe Gin and Vodka appear somewhere, Conan, being as predictable as he is, follows and they catch him following? For now, I believe the boss is a new character or one that has been only mentioned tangentially. My basic assumption is that the boss can't be anyone who has had more than passing contact with Haibara, because I would assume the boss would recognize her. (Pisco and Vermouth noticed right away)

This is one of the best put together formulations of an Okiya is Bourbon theory that I have read in terms of staying consistent with the known facts. I won't even hit you with a fish for it because of the nice work. You should take a shot at an Okiya is Bourbon page. The main problems with this formulation of the theory are: •Okiya knowing about how to operate Conan's tracking glasses. •Ran's feeling she has met Okiya before •Conan's trusting Okiya around Haibara. Unless Conan knew Okiya's backstory, he wouldn't be able to tell Bourbon Okiya was a "nice guy". •Gundam name puns

I think only someone with FBI insider knowledge or someone who heard from someone with FBI inside knowledge would know Conan and Akai were close. Not even Vermouth knows about the pair's connection, and she's got the most info in the Org.A bunch of FBI agents saw Conan and Akai together in the strategy meeting. The way Conan and Akai were interacting made it clear that they knew each other and had been planning together. If Sera grilled one of the other FBI agents, it's possible she could have found out about Conan. If it's one of the named FBI agents who spilled the beans about Conan, I would guess Camel. Akai himself could have mentioned Conan to Sera as well as someone who was kind of interesting and smart. There really isn't enough evidence about how she would have found out Conan and Akai are connected yet. Besides an FBI agent leaking the info, the only "public" case where Conan and Akai were present was the bus jack case I believe. It's also possible she followed the Teito bank heist case on TV and saw Scar Akai and heard Conan was involved in the case. The problem is neither of those cases show a link between Conan and Akai worth investigating because they both acted independently in those cases.

What is the connection between Gin and Sherry?

It was also explicitly confirmed in the Conan Drill on the same page as the Gin and Shiho stuff. You can see it in the same post. -
What is the connection between Gin and Sherry?
Chekhov MacGuffin replied to Kiel95's topic in General
I genuinely think he wants Shiho dead, despite being in a romantic relationship with her prior. Basically, he was using/manipulating her and he liked it. Because he is the one still obsessing over her, it was probable that Shiho cut it off. He is the type who likes to be in control, so Gin most likely saw that as a personal betrayal of sorts which would make him rather angry as he doesn't like traitors. Add on top of that Shiho's betrayal of the Org, and the desire for revenge only intensifies from there. It also explains why Gin took immediate interest in Shiho's male "white knight" who rescued her at Haido City Hotel. -

You seem to be assuming Gin has a normal, reasonable personality. -
I more than like Eisuke's character, but the first option felt like diabetes.

Thanks for finding more info to corroborate. I thought Aoyama seemed uncharacteristically direct about one of he things he supposedly said. -

What is the connection between Gin and Sherry?
Chekhov MacGuffin replied to Kiel95's topic in General
I can't recall any specific cases where Conan thought of a female suspect nude when there wasn't a reason not to (i.e. suspect found dead in bathtub). I'm not counting "shadowpeople" because that is how they are drawn regardless of whether anyone is thinking of them or not. Someone linked pictures of Conan and other people thinking of other characters nude as a counterpoint to the Gin example (can't find where though...), but most of them consisted of Ran when Conan thought she was actually nude, and there was a also a Sherry-haired shadowperson. Basically, Gin was thinking of Sherry naked for no particular reason at all (I doubt he would think she was naked at the time), and more explicitly than similar portrayals of people's thoughts. Gin was in fact surprised that Sherry planted the transmitter and made the first move. "Who would have thought that you would take action and approach me first?" This also shows that Gin is assuming Sherry is listening in on the other end... Haibara decided to go as soon as she heard APTX4869 was going to be there from Conan. Gin assumed that Shiho was the one listening in on the other end, and thus would have heard about the APTX 4869 directly. He didn't know she was following his and Vodka's dialogue secondhand via Conan. So Gin's read of her personality was right; she wanted to go to the party because APTX was going to be there. Gin didn't anticipate she might not have heard about the APTX at first so she initially refused. There's probably a component of not wanting to be a danger to the kids, but preventing Ayumi from touching her at that moment isn't going to help. Also, it's uncharacteristic for Haibara to snap at the Detective Boys in relaxed conditions. Haibara was still in a reverie when Ayumi grabbed her arm. To explain it with another Detective Conan case (Coffee with murderous intent: chs 628-630, eps 513-514), Ran and Conan didn't want to eat Eri's gift cake after the case, despite both liking cake, because it reminded them of the tragic outcome. Basically, Haibara doesn't want to be touched at that moment because she was just thinking of something unpleasant related to Gin. -

I think it's been proven Yuusaku is a better detective, he just doesn't have the motivation Shinichi has because Yuusaku prefers to write books, read, or whatever else the Kudo parents do while abroad.

I think Conan just doesn't like people to die, even bad guys. (See Ran's comment in 773) Although Conan probably has a pretty good idea who scar Akai is, Conan can't be sure because the BO seemed to be targeting the guy. Conan couldn't go wrong by choosing to screw up the BO's plan.
