I tend to love any episodes with creepy criminals (such as the mountain villa murder case, the librarian case, etc.) Kaito Kid, Heiji (especially ones with Kazuha too!), the Black Organization, ones that build up the plot, FBI episodes, and episodes where Shinichi turns back.

I prefer Japanese over English. English has good voice acting for some of the roles, but some voices are strange, plus the name changes are confusing and the series takes too long (English version has only done 128 of the Japanese episodes, 6 of the movies, and 35 volumes). It's kind of bothersome, so I prefer Japanese, since I don't like the name changes or some of the voices (Ai doesn't sound like a 7 year old girl, but Conan sure does in the English!)

Hello, welcome to Detective Conan World! If you're referring to the videos in the "watch" tab that you can't watch, due to certain reasons, the videos have been temporarily taken down. Hope you enjoy the site even without the videos! There's a wiki that you can find information on or add information to help others, or you can browse through the forums and talk about Detective Conan or other things, plus there's even a Facebook page!

The man in black you're referring to is Snake, and you're comparing him to Tequila, who is dead by the way. Also, Gosho once said in an interview that the Magic Kaito Organization and the Black Organization are not related... but at the same time, Vermouth could have had some sort of situation involving something like the Pandora Gem, the gem in Magic Kaito said to give immortality... it would be an interesting twist, since then Kaito would get involved in all this Black Organization stuff, and then... Conan and Kaito might have to work together if that were to happen! :-D This is a good idea though, about the idea maybe Vermouth had the Pandora Gem at one point!

I believe the secret behind Vermouth's youth has something to do with the Organization's true operative. She could be the boss's favorite due to the discovery of something through her youth, which could have something to do with her youth. The reason they're blackmailing people for money and killing people is to gain money for their research and kill those who could possibly reveal the Organization to the world. The science department wouldn't need a lot of people just to create poisons, but it's a science department, which means there's quite a few people in this field. I believe they're working on some sort of experiment behind closed doors while some scientists create poison for the Organization to use. I wonder if all this data hacking, killing, blackmailing, and scientific research is for some kind of experiment that could change the way we live. Vermouth has said at one point, "[we] strive to become gods as well as devils...to go against the flow of time...and revive the dead." Haibara has said she never worked on a dream drug to revive the dead, but, it was also stated that whatever it was, it was something that "most people on Earth would be incapable of" Also, with the computer software situation, there have been viruses and programs connected to the Organization. Sugaru Itakura, one of the programmers in the Organization, said he quit the Organization out of concern for the fate of humanity. Also, according to certain sources, though I don't remember seeing this in the manga, Gin once had a mission to examine the legend of the mermaid. In Japan, mermaids were said to be mythical creatures, actually considered evil, that could provide immortality. With that, the computer software that could control the fate of humanity, a huge science department, blackmailing for money, and Vermouth's youth, I would say this is all due to them trying to find some way to gain immortality or something like that. Sorry, I went a little off topic, but the main point is I believe she was used for research regarding immortality, which is why the she is the boss's favorite. I don't believe the APTX 4869 was used on Vermouth, due to the fact if this was to be true, the Organization would figure this out and wouldn't use the drug on people they were killing. They wouldn't shrink them on purpose, because if that were so, it wouldn't take long for Gin to find Sherry, and also Conan could still tell people about what he saw, something the Organization can't risk. Also, the reason why Vermouth and Sharon could change places is simple; Vermouth could have already done the experiment a long while back (like 20 years ago), then, because of her disguising skills, she could make herself appear older. She may have never shrunk at all, only stayed the same age many years, disguising herself to look older like Sharon, then "killing" Sharon by pretending she was dead and hosting a funeral.

Here's my favorite anime: 1. Detective Conan This one's obvious. This was my second anime I ever watched (the first was Sailor Moon when I was REALLY little), but this is what got me into anime in the first place! I love mysteries and anime, and, even though I'm a girl, I prefer Shounen manga and anime (most of the time!) Unfortunately, the English version confuses me with the name changes, but the voice acting is still good (even though Ai sounds like a teenager or 20 year old and Conan sounds like, well, a girl, which makes sense since he's played by Alison Viktorin) 2. Fullmetal Alchemist and Fullmetal Alchemist:Brotherhood I loved both Fullmetal Alchemist and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Sometimes, they share similar stories and plot, but the only thing is the first anime series, Fullmetal Alchemist, was finished before the manga was, so some of the characters, plot, and homunculi were different than the anime, whereas Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, actually is based off the manga. 3. Soul Eater I LOVE this series almost as much as I love Detective Conan! I prefer the manga a little bit more, even though it's not finished, and when I watched the anime first then read the manga, I got really confused, so I stick to the manga mostly, but the first 35 episodes, which were just like in the manga, were GENIUS! Even the English Funimation version had the characters down right, just like in Fullmetal Alchemist! 4.Kodocha This is one of the most random shows ever, besides for Shin-chan. It's hilarious yet cute, and I couldn't resist watching every episode. The English and Japanese voice acting is really good (although Akito sounds like a man in the English, and kind of... strange in the Japanese) 5.Ranma 1/2 Ah, Rumiko Takahashi... she's one of my favorite mangakas besides for Gosho! This series is also pretty crazy, with LOTS of crazy people who are in some short of massive love triangle (although this is more like a love tetrahaidecahedron!) It's pretty nuts, but I love it! 6.Kaichou wa Maid Sama Another series I love, Kaichou wa Maid Sama has an interesting plot to it, and is cute yet funny and something to enjoy for girls and guys (though some may not like some of the romantic scenes if you're not into the romance genre) My friend showed me this, and the first thing she pointed out was that Misaki is a LOT like me (then I got mad and never answered her calls for a week. Just kidding about that part! Though I was still upset ) 7. Magic Kaito It's perfect. Only it isn't because they decided to make only one episode. They should make more, because Magic Kaito is a great manga, and DC fans love Kaito Kid almost as much as they love a certain you know who with glasses.

Hi, I saw your status, and I think I know what song you're referring to! I think it's the Detective Conan Main theme (vocal version.) Here's a link:

What is the connection between Gin and Sherry?
detectiveshinichi replied to Kiel95's topic in General
I believe the boss probably hired Atsushi and Elena, which then lead to Ai and Akemi being forced into the organization due to their parents being there. the boss probably tricked them by telling them it was a scientific job that required people like them, or blackmailed them into joining the organization. Gin probably met Ai because she was working in the science department on a drug her parents failed to create, the APTX 4869. Maybe as an executive to the Organization, he was to check in on her progress, maybe because the boss likes to keep his identity a secret from others. From there, bad things happened, then of course Gin killed Akemi because she was the one that brought Akai into the Organization, and then Ai was imprisoned because she was refusing to work for the Organization any longer, then she took the drug in hopes of killing herself, which she then shrunk and the rest... we already know the rest! -
I agree. At the beginning, Shinichi was very anxious to get his body back. Though his identity as Conan does have perks, as bad guys don't see him as a threat and he's small enough to do things adults can't do, such as crawl through tight spaces, so he gets adjusted to it. During the desperate revival arc, though, he did seem kind of sad once he turned back... looking at the Detective Boys did so, so I think it's more the fact he actually is starting to see the Detective Boys as true friends and not just some annoying kids that follow him around like he used to. But he also misses his former body, as he wants to tell Ran his true feelings... after he stops the Black Organization from their evil doings.

To become a real detective, you need to be intelligent, descriptive, aware of your surroundings, and physically fit. Unfortunately, it doesn't exactly happen like in Shinichi's case. In fact, there are usually no teenage detectives that help out the police, nor is there detectives that solve cases in one day, unless it was a robbery or missing person's case. You'd first need to meet certain requirements depending on where you live. Some people don't ask for a lot when it comes to educational background, others do. Some places, like in Britain, require you to have a certain number of years as a police officer before you can apply. Other places, like in certain US cities, require you to have earned a degree in certain areas before you can. Also, some places don't allow people in with a serious or rather bad criminal record (smart thing to do most times!) Also, you don't just become a private eye like Mouri Kogoro or Sherlock Holmes in an instant. You have to work for the police for a while, the time limit varies, before you can go do your own thing. There are certain things required that Shinichi demonstrates. You need to be physically fit, first off. If you're the type that doesn't do sports or sits around all day, but you want to be a detective, you have to be physically fit. All police officers, including detectives, have to go through a certain test to prove you are fit enough to do the work. Also, you need a sharp mind, and a keen eye for details. Be aware of your surroundings, note the tiniest scratches, every difference in a room or on a person, and such. If you miss something, you could have just missed a logical clue. Like Holmes does, take everything and put it together like a puzzle. If it doesn't make since, see just what it is. You also don't just assume when it comes to murder. You can guess a person's personality from a watch like Holmes did, but NEVER assume a murderer's personality from the clues they left behind. That could mean a serious punishment comes to an innocent person. Also, when doing this, you have to be aware of every word a person says, because it may end up leading to them being revealed to be the murderer. There are two types of detectives mainly; there's the detective we think of, and the forensics detective. Forensics is the more scientific approach to becoming a detective, and requires less physical labor than a regular detective, who has to hunt down criminals with a gun all day. These "detectives" examine bodies, weapons, and objects to search for fingerprints, time of death, cause of death (in case poison or drugs were involved) and more, so if you don't have great physical strength, you don't get queasy, you are good in science, and you would love to be a detective, this job may be something to think about. There's also record investigation, which are detectives that gain background info on a place, person, gang, etc. These people usually need warrants, but can also search through stuff such as credit card records, phone calls, etc. There are also different departments for detectives, like homicide; robbery; burglary; auto theft; organized crimes; missing persons; juvenile crimes; fraud; narcotics; vice; criminal intelligence; aggravated assault/battery; sexual assault; computer crime; domestic violence; surveillance; and arson Overall, it's a more tough and dangerous job than how our heroes like Shinichi and Holmes place it. It requires a lot of work and effort, and could lead to your life being in danger, or even taken. But if you're willing to be a law enforcer rather than a law breaker, and are willing to help out others and work hard, then this is for you. Just don't do it for the donuts.

Akemi Miyano, Atsushi Miyano, Elena Miyano, etc. I also believe it's not Akai Shuichi, who I believe is actually alive. Nor do I think it's Okiya Subaru, because I believe him and Akai Shuichi are the same person.
-
Ya, that's the only reason I could think of for Dr. Agasa leaving her alive if he was the boss... although I also doubt Dr. Agasa is the boss (though that would certainly shock us!) Also, I forgot to mention that the boss could also be a character that's not dead (not Shuu, of course!) It couldn't be Akemi Miyano, since Conan was there to witness her death. I do doubt it's either of the Miyano parents, since they worked in the Organization (although maybe that was a cover up, but they pretended to kill themselves because someone was after them... it's a strange theory to think of, and highly unlikely, but it would surely make Haibara and us surprised to see!) Also, if the movies EVER have some affect on the manga (like Kaito Kid knowing Conan's identity), then I really wonder if the boss was a police officer. I mean, he sent Irish to do the work by disguising as a cop(although usually the movies never take any affect on the manga at all, besides the fact it hints Kaito Kid knows Conan's true identity, as he does in movie 3). Basically though, the boss could be anyone that knows Shinichi, and Haibara also, who would shock her. I've put aside the female characters, Yusaku, Dr. Agasa, the dead, and a few others for now... but I'll probably end up suspecting some I've looked over later on when the true name of the syndicate is revealed (when it is, it will have the boss' true identity linked to it, but probably not directly, like the _____ Organization, since Gosho loves puzzles, so he'll probably put it into a coded form). Once that is revealed, the boss' true identity will be revealed shortly after, but that won't be for a while!
-
It could... Gosho would have to decide on a boss once he decided to add in more information on the boss of the Black Organization (actually stating in the manga there is a boss, and there's not just Gin and Vodka), which means once this boss came into existence in the manga, Gosho would have to decide on somebody in the manga series... or in Magic Kaito (or he would have an idea on an upcoming character that would later turn out to be the boss). Kaito is excluded since we know what he's doing 24/7... Ginzo would be unlikely since the series implies he's at the police station day and night... Akako's only appeared in episode 219 and OVA 1, which doesn't count, but she never appeared in the DC manga, so she is excluded... same goes for Keiko. Chikage and Jii can also be excluded, since they were never properly introduced in the manga. That just leaves Saguru Hakuba from magic kaito, who has appeared twice (although I guess we can't exclude Ginzo). Plus, I don't think it's Aoko. She appears only once, and I also believe the boss is a male, due to Gin referring to the boss as a "he", so I have put aside all the female characters for now, but I won't completely exclude them, just in case (maybe Gin has never seen the boss' face) I still doubt Dr. Agasa is in the Organization, or the boss, because if he was, and he had a plan, then the plan would have been carried out already. Plus, he's telling the BO to search for Sherry... if he was the boss, and he knew her secret, why wouldn't he have killed her? Sure, getting her to trust him could be the reason, but he has plenty of chances...she lives with him! I do think though that the Organization wouldn't just ignore Agasa since he's a brilliant inventor and could be used in the science field, so I wonder if some of those "rich patrons" are BO members (maybe he doesn't even know the people who buy from him work for the BO). Either that, or the boss may know Dr. Agasa, and not want him to discover his true identity. As for the theory Yusaku is the boss, I guess in some ways, according to his intelligence and great skill, he would fit the title of the boss. Also, the fact Vermouth is his favorite would be no surprise, due to the fact Yukiko and her know each other. But at the same time, Gosho more than likely would make the boss someone unsuspecting, to leave the viewers surprised. Someone who even Haibara would be shocked to, who appeared in the manga, which probably means this is a main protagonist with an unlikely job(police officer, lawyer, etc.)/personality(stupid)/looks(too young or old). Why would he pick such an obvious man? Plus, Dr. Agasa explained everything to Yusaku about Shinichi's situation, so he would probably think something similar happened to Haibara... or at the very least he wouldn't let members of his organization shrink his son! So, I've pretty much crossed out a lot of people. I think he may be a cop or detective, because I doubt the boss would shrink himself with the APTX 4869 and not tell his subordinates about this since the boss would be smart enough to figure out Haibara could have done the same trick using the APTX 4869 she made on her own. So I doubt it would be Genta or Mitsuhiko, although it would be an interesting twist to the story! Unless of course the boss decided to go search for Shiho himself and found the lab mice data, therefore deciding to try shrinking himself, but still, I doubt the boss would risk his own life to do that.

Magic File 4 Discussion Thread
detectiveshinichi replied to CarpetCrawler's topic in Movies and OAVs
The OVA does not contain too many spoilers, besides the bad guys lose, and Heiji is deemed hero. It's actually a very funny and interesting OVA, and is the first episode where there is no murder, kidnappings, or Kaito Kid (usually it's one of those), and also teases the characters by delaying them in every way possible, like with the walkway on the street and the baby! It's a very funny and more light hearted episode, and gives you a break from the violence and murder to see what life's like for the detectives when there's no major mystery, and makes you laugh a ton while watching it! "Hey, Heiji?" "What?" "I want a baby!" Ah, good times... -
I agree, this was one of the funniest OVAs yet (along with OVA 1!) It especially made it funny that the Detective Boys now have false information on Shinichi thanks to Kaito, like when he said he disliked fish and the kids laughed at him! Also, at the end, when he's calling out to Jii and then a fish lands in his lap and he flips out... I personally couldn't stop laughing at how funny this OVA is! And the whole time, Ran and Sonoko are just relaxing at the hotel without a care... and Conan is following the bad guys meanwhile! But I also like how Conan and Kid teamed together to stop the bad guys. Every episode, movie, and OVA, the two seem to get to know each other more, and help out each other along the way!
-
That would be great if the drama series was ever animated! It would be interesting to see the story before Shinichi and Ran went to Tropical Land animated... also, the second story would be interesting to see! ;-) Although, people who watch the second story animated would have a hard time believing that what Shinichi did during elevator scene was really something he would do (a rather bold move for him!) although I'm sure (below is a spoiler on the drama)

Detective Conan Singer Rina Aiuchi to Retire
detectiveshinichi replied to Southpaw's topic in Anime series
She sang lots of hits we came to know and love on Detective Conan, including "I Can't Stop My Love For You ♥ ", "Koi Wa Thrill, Shock, Suspense" , "START", "MAGIC", and "Dream x Dream". It's sad to see such a great J-Pop singer from Higashiosaka in the Osaka Prefecture of Japan, that started on March 23 of 2000, after 10 years in the music business, is going to retire from her career next month. She'll definitely be missed, and I hope she gets better -
I believe the Magic Kaito Organization is actually different from the Black Organization. In a Gosho Aoyama interview I stumbled upon a while back (not sure where it is now though), Gosho said the two Organizations are not related in that way at all. In fact, Gosho was inspired by his first Organization in Magic Kaito, and made another in Detective Conan. He uses characters from MK to inspire DC commonly: Kaito-Shinichi (the main protagonist that is stopping a bad organization while using a new identity for revenge) Aoko-Ran (the unsuspecting childhood friend that likes him, the protagonist likes her) Akako-Haibara (except Akako's more crazy... a lot more crazy)(the other girl that's close to the main protagonist, hinted to have feelings (akako revealed she liked him in her thoughts, Haibara says things sometimes) Saguru Hakuba- Heiji (the detective that's not from Tokyo, a rival at first who ends up helping the main protagonist) (That's why it's kind of funny that they got annoyed with each other at the Detective Koshien, though they play the same roles in the two stories) Toichi- Yusaku- (the intelligent father that inspires his son and comes to mind at times when he's in trouble through the form of memories) Chikage- Yukiko (The upbeat mother that has a child-like behavior to her) Chikage also inspires Eri in some ways, but also Eri is given a little more of a serious behavior around her husband Ginzo- Kogoro (The detective that has a special bond with the main protagonist. He tends to get annoying at some times, but he's lovable at other times. He also has gotten drunk while on the job (except Kogoro does this most of the time) They also violently hurt someone that works with them on cases) Keiko- Sonoko (The best friend of the main female protagonist, she supports her friend and the main male protagonist getting together as boyfriend and girlfriend (although Sonoko takes this to a whole new level with her plans)) Jii- Dr. Agasa (The lovable guy that knows the main protagonist's secret, and assists him when he needs it) head police chief Hakuba- head police chief Heizo Hattori (the father of the detective that's not from Tokyo, supports what his son is doing but is concerned for his safety) MK Organization- Black Organization (the evil organization that does something to the main protagonist that makes him try to get revenge on them; very intelligent organizations that wear black)
