  1. Saint Seiya is an anime series derived from the shonen manga by japanese author Masami Kurumada composed of 114 episodes of the original series, 31 OVAs of the Hades chapter (the adaptation of the last part of the manga), 5 animated movies and 13 OVAs of the spin-off prequel Lost Canvas. It is composed primarily of four story-arcs: The Sanctuary, Asgard (anime-only), Poseidon and Hades, to which we can add the prequel Lost Canvas. The Story When the forces of evil awake, the goddess Athena returns on Earth. By her side stand her holy knights, the Saints of hope. With their fists, they tear up the sky up and the earth shakens within their foots. Some years ago, billionaire Mitsumasa Kido send 100 orphans children to follow a training with the mission to become a Bronze Saint. Only ten of them have as far succeeded. Pegasus Seiya. Dragon Shiryu. Andromeda Shun. Cygnus Hyoga. Phoenix Ikki. The five of them are blessed by the power of their sacred cloths and they have all swear to protect Athena with their own lives. There are three class of Saints: Gold, Silver and Bronze. The Bronze Saints are the weaker. When the five Bronze Saints discover that the reincarnation of Athena is none other than Saori Kido, the adoptive daughter of Mitsumasa Kido and the girl they grew to hate during their childhood because she was overly physically abusive toward them, they refuse to believe that such a mean girl could be the reincarnation of the goddess of hope. But they still protect her against the murder attempts by the Silver Knights. The Grand Pope, master of all Saints and holy representant of Athena on Earth, turns out to be a corrupted and tormented soul who tried to murder Athena as a baby years ago and failed. Now that he has discovered where Athena was hidding during all these years, he tries to finish the job. On her part, Athena wants to return to the Sanctuary, her rightful domain in Greece, to confront and defeat the traitor. According to the prophecy, her Bronze Saints must fight by her side to lead her to the path of victory, confronting their superiors, the Gold Saints, in the process. But the first people to whom Saori must prove that she is truly the reincarnation of the goddess of hope are her own knights. Will Saori be able to gain their trust and their friendship ? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQGhN9OjG0o&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_W_86Zsd3gM There are also five movies: Evil Goddess Eris, The Heated Battle of the Gods, Legend of Crimson Youth, Warriors of the Final Holy Battle and Tenkai Hen Joso Overture.
  2. But if the Black Organization and Kaito Kid appear every 2 or 3 movies, it will no longer be "an event". And I don't know if this would be a good thing either for the quality of the stories (the Black Organization wasn't so important in movie 5, Kaito Kid doesn't have a lot of a role to fulfill in movie 10, and the use of Kaito Kid in movie 14 was disastrous). I prefer the scriptwriters do what they think would be right for a story without having concern about fan-service (which is still present, each movie having as most characters as they can even if some characters don't have a "real" role to fulfill). What I would like would be a movie as excellent as movie 4 (the best for me). There wasn't a lot of fan-service in this one, the story was great and the ambiance was damn good.
  3. Well, I won't be that conciliant with movie 14. It could appeal for some fans: there's a lot of fan-service in it (I could even go as far as to say "fan-service, that's all this movie has") and it could be fun to watch the first time. I also imagine kids and young teenagers could enjoy it. But the story is clearly the worst of the saga (even if movie 11's is not particularly good either). It's not even a question of delivering something or not, there's just "nothing" in it except for lame gags (the "traps" at the end, Sato and Takagi who think Shin' is Kid) which could have been funny if not poorly executed, and a lot of fan-service revolving around action sequences, Conan's gadgets and the character of Kaito Kid. And I've never seen such a bad conclusion to a detective story. It just doesn't take his spectators seriously: Can we even call that a detective story ?
  4. YUKO-CHAAAAN ! More seriously, Eri Kizaki is a character I really think could be the boss. Because I think the boss could only be a guest-star or a character that doesn't appear often in the manga (a character which often appears couldn't rule a great organization in secret). And if it says that it's not a character Haibara could think of and that she would be shocked upon learning its true identity, it is possible that the boss could be in fact a character introduced in another "legal" organization like the police, the justice, the FBI or the CIA which would normally oppose the Black Organization. Someone Conan and Haibara would think they could trust enough to ensure their safety to them.

  9. Well, my guess about what the story of Quarter of Silence could be is At least, I really hope it will be the come-back of a murder story (no disaster movie this time, please !) and of a more serious plot than the previous movie.
  10. 1) Batman Returns: a masterpiece and a wonderful Christmas tale in the world of Tim Burton's monsters ! 2) The Lord of the Rings (the whole trilogy): one of the better works I've ever seen ! 3) The Empire Strikes Back: the best movie of one of my most beloved saga ! I'm still sad by the news of Kershner's death. 4) Schindler's List: a masterpiece ! 5) Batman: Mask of the Phantasm: an animated movie but a great one ! This is the only one which makes the spectator feel what truly is Batman.
  11. 1) Saint Seiyaaaaaa ! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQGhN9OjG0o&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ygb3io7L77A&feature=related Best shonen anime series ever ! 2) City Hunter http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cpSrdkv_CM4 3) Neon Genesis Evangelion http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ooclWqCFWes&feature=fvw 4) Yu Yu Hakusho http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1oEeMV0Gbwc 5) Ranma 1/2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHpWaQlKquY&feature=BF&list=PL603851E21137E191&index=2

  14. I think most of you already know or have at least heard of Fist of the North Star (Hokuto No Ken), a very violent manga but also a strong story with a lot of deep emotions and symbolism. Recently, a new saga of films and OVAs have been made around the Hokuto No Ken universe. I have seen three of them (they're five) and... they are great, absolutely great ! The original anime series (derivated from an excellent manga) was a complete disaster, but this time the adaptation is wonderful, with great animation and a strong story (even better than the manga). Three movies have been made: the first two are a retelling of the main conflict between Kenshiro (the savior of the post-apocalyptic world) and his brother Raoh (the ruler of the post-apocalyptic world) and the last one is focused on events taking place before the beginning of the manga/series. Additionnally, two OVAs have been made: one focusing from the point of view of Yuria (Kenshiro's long lost love) and one from the point of view of Toki (the dying brother of Kenshiro and Raoh). Resuming Fist of the North Star to its violence would be absurd: it's a story of love and tragedy between many strong and charismatic characters in a world of chaos and free violence, where everyone follows his own path to find a future for the rebuilding world, whatever it may be. 15. Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle is, after X and Card Captor Sakura, one of the most famous Clamp's manga ever. The Story: Shaolan, a young archaeologist, is the best friend and almost boyfriend of Sakura, princess of the Clow country. When some evil forces manifest themselves, the memories of princess Sakura vanish, leaving for other worlds. In exchanged for his link with the princess (she will never remember him), Shaolan is allowed by the dimensional witch Yuko to travel to other worlds in order to search for the memories of her beloved one. In his journey, he has four companions: an amnesic Sakura (who remembers her past little by little during the journey), the swordman Kurogane, the wizard Fye and the dimensional traveler Mokona Modoki. Commentaries: Even if Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles uses a lot of characters from previous Clamp's works in alternate versions, it DOES tie directly with the stories of two other series: the first one is of course XXXholic (but it's not that important to read Tsubasa without reading XXXholic) and the second is Card Captor Sakura (impossible to understand the end of Tsubasa without knowing it). If this title seems very classic at first, with the group only travelling into very different worlds to search for the memories of Sakura, a HUGE twist in volume 16 (the equivalent of the episode 2 of the OVAs Tokyo Revelations) changes everything: the title becomes darker and the plot much more serious and complicated. 16. Well, at least several of them are good. The Dragon Ball Z Budokai/Budokai Tenkaichi fight games are a reference and the Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 being called a masterpiece and the best anime video game ever by critics (I've never played a Naruto video game yet). But it still is sad for other licences like Detective Conan which also have good potential (only the Wii game of DC is distributed in Europe and I don't think it has sold well sadly).
  17. The first drama is a shame (the worst Conan I've ever seen, all formats included), but the second one is decent. But I don't think it would be good enough for an anime adaptation anyway. And the storyline of the second drama is kind of déjà vu for those who already know the manga and the anime.
  18. You're welcome ! I just read it and I found a lot of mistakes in my resumee (I was tired when I wrote it). I edited and fixed most of the mistakes, so the text should be more understandable now. Sorry for that !
  19. What do you mean by "characteristics" ? Christian Bale's Batman is very close from the original character (in a realistic perspective).

    Bourbon

The twist that would surprise everyone would be that Bourbon would actually be a Detective Conan character we all already know for sometime. It would be more shocking that a newly introduce character or a character we would already suspect to be Bourbon (Subaru or the supposed-fake Akai). One thing I really don't understand is Subaru would definitely have an interest in living in Shinichi's house, but the more I try to reverse the chessboard to try to understand his intentions, the more it seems to be a complete mess.
  21. Well, he doesn't really hide it. I thought more of a character who, like Agasa and Haibara, showed some important detective stories knowledge (of course, I don't think it could be Agasa or Haibara. Too close to Conan all the time to run an organization behind his back).
  22. Well, I liked/loved every Christopher Nolan's movies I have seen. The Prestige was pretty good, Batman Begins was excellent and The Dark Knight and Inception are masterpieces, so I am pretty confident for the new movie. I forgot to add, Christian Bale (Batman/Bruce Wayne), Michael Caine (Alfred Pennyworth), Gary Oldman (James Gordon) and Morgan Freeman (Licius Fox) are all supposed to reprise their roles in the new movie. I just love Christopher Nolan's Batman movies (the best version with Tim Burton's Batman Returns) so I will absolutely see this one. I still remember how I was thrilled when I've seen Batman Begins and The Dark Knight on the big screen ! Epic ! Truly epic !
  23. Well, the twists are some points that posed me problem for my part. HUGE SPOILERS Well, maybe I overreact but, the first time I have seen the movie, as the spectator, I had the feeling of a bad movie which doesn't respect his audience (with a good story or other things... Everything in this movie was cheap).
  24. Well, I'll try to explain what I think of those movies. Movie 1: The movie isn't really bad but the story is one of the less interesting of the saga for me. There is no real mystery. Movie 6: I can't accept the idea of the video game. The idea to bring Conan, Holmes and Jack the Ripper together is fun, but I think that goes too far in science-fiction this time. Détective Conan isn't a realistic series but, in my opinion, there is a limit nevertheless. And the idea of the billionaire being *** is just too huge for me. Movie 14: Well, I already explained what I thought of it: bad story, too much gadgets, too much fan-service, action scenes to fill the movie at the place of the story... I didn't even find it entertaining. I don't hate movies 1, 11 and even 6, I found them entertaining at least. But that wasn't the case of movie 14 which I found boring and which didn't appeal me at all.
