Well, I don't really care about the romances, even if I'm pretty sure that, in the end, it will have something to do with Conan and Ran's couple. I just watch what happen, but I really don't have a preference for a couple (even if, as a character, I prefer Ai to Ran or Ayumi). I just tried to imagine what could be the end of Detective Conan and what situations could be interesting (rather than the first ending I put which would be very classic and predictable).

I really hope it won't ask to understand the rules of chess to understand the movie, because I have no clue. But a movie with Shinichi all the time, well that'll be fun (and it was missing a little in the movie saga). I just hope the script will be better than the movie 14's (it could hardly be worst though).

A little topic to discuss this kind of movie (unfortunately rarely good, if ever). Some of those movies with their trailers: Dragon Ball Evolution: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yo4t8PeqJ6E Dragon Ball The Magic Begins (unofficial adaptation), Ultimate Edition trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ejqZaXTvyL4 City Hunter: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K5LMRAsb8YI Mr Mumble (unofficial adaptation of City Hunter): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JSVk_cdQa8 Fist of the North Star (Hokuto No Ken): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=boawe1SzCaQ Touch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RR0xeizFUs8 I would have liked to add the movies "Cat's Eye 2000" and "Tokyo Babylon 1999" (which were released in 1997 and 1993 respectively, despite their titles), but unfortunately I couldn't find any trailer for those movies. If you have seen any of those movies, or others, what did you think of them ? Don't hesitate to introduce new movies and to discuss why you think that, unfortunately, most of them ended as failure despite the potential of the manga source.

Hitomi, Rui and Ai Kisugi. But I'm a bit surprised. I didn't think a lot of countries had broadcast it (I fact, I only know about japanese, french and german dubs).

1) Neon Genesis Evangelion movies (The End of Evangelion, Evangelion 1.0, Evangelion 2.0). The animated series is a masterpiece, the movies are great, but this saga will divide the spectators (as always). For some, it's the ultimate anime ever, for others, it's just a philosophical nonsense. 2) The movie Galaxy Express 999 (which adapts the whole storyline of the TV series), magic, poetic and absolutely wonderful, and its sequel Sayonara Galaxy Express 999. I strongly recommand these, those movies are absolutely loveable and enjoyable. 3) Detective Conan movies of course (even if I personally think movies 1, 6 and 14 aren't as good as the rest of the movie series which are excellent). 4) If you like action and comedy but also some darkness in the story, the City Hunter movie and TV Specials are worth your time. Especially A Magnum of Love's Destination and Goodbye My Sweetheart which are truly excellent. 5) If you like movies more "author", there's the Touch trilogy and the two TV Specials (adapting the whole story of the TV series) which are worth your time. It's a manga story based on sports (baseball) but the storyline is much more complex than that, kind of a Rocky story where a young man, who always lived in his brother's shadow and who was fine with it until now, sees his whole life taking a huge crossroad following a tragedy and accomplish a miracle. It's maybe a little too "romance and drame" but it's quiet rare for a sport series to have such an important storyline and mature themes, and the movies and TV Specials follow the same direction.

Revive (opening 25) is my favorite. Just a question: the openings you have in the english dub of Case Closed are the same that in the original version ? That being said, I seriously don't think any opening can be worst that the french one. To think I used to hear that crap (the name Conan isn't even pronounced correctly) during my youth... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stPZY2xq31w

Two of the three openings of the Angel Heart animated series (which lasted only for 50 episodes). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mSsY8_H2feo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHyCEu3VB-w&feature=related Like the ambiance of the series, the style of music for the openings and endings of Angel Heart is very different from City Hunter's.

Both openings of the Cat's Eye animated series: "Mysterious Girls" and "Derringer". http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x26ocz_034-cat-s-eye-generique-1-vo_fun http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x26qcs_036-cat-s-eye-generique-2-vo_fun The series lasted for two seasons with a total of 73 episodes.

Some openings and endings of the City Hunter animated series (including the emblematic "Get Wild" original ending of the show) which lasted for 140 episodes on four series. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZXxqCRtHMP0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6nbXbSUyELs&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wXQZjkWBYw&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XW6TGX4JV-A&feature=related I had some great memories of this show, despite the "parody version" (the french censored version) they broadcasted in my country (if you understand french, you can search "Nicky Larson censure" on Youtube to find some videos, the dialogues are so stupid that it's very funny: "Oh, il m'a fait bobo, le méchant Larson ! Vilain Larson, je vais t'envoyer une boulette !", the love hotels which become vegetarian restaurants in the french dub...). I have since rediscovered it in its original version with the DVDs release and it rocks big time ! And the manga is even better ! One of the very best I know !

Well, there is not really a character that gets on my nerve, but an event: Prof Agasa's lame quizz. I truly hates those scenes. Also, there are some time where the Detective Boys are very annoying (for example, in The Raven Chaser), but they also have their moments too (especially Mitsuhiko, who is maybe the only one of the three who really shows some detective potential from time to time, and Ayumi, who makes sometimes simple but important observations).

Well, I don't really think magic has his place in Detective Conan's universe (even if it's the same universe than in Kaito Kid). An earlier version of the Apotoxine, why not ? But maybe it can be an other kind of experiment on the cellules, such as cellular regeneration which could stop the aging of a person. In the context of scientific experiments of Detective Conan, the cellular regeneration could work as a explaination I think.

Well, I don't know if this project is still active, but if you are searching for some ideas for a detective game, I can strongly recommand to watch the Umineko No Naku Koro Ni animated series which is an adaptation of a visual-novel and has some revolutionary ideas about what could be the concept/gameplay of a detective video game. Without necessarily using their ideas, this serie can really inspire you a lot of things, I think.

Some suggestions: 1) The organisation is destroyed, Conan becomes Shinichi again, he marries Ran and they have a little son called Conan Kudo. lol ! 2) The organisation kidnapp Ran and force her to take the poison. Ran becomes a child again. Conan destroys the organisation and begins a new life with Ran as children. 3) The organisation is destroyed but Haibara can't find a cure. Ran promises that, despite the age difference, she will wait for Shinichi. 4) The organisation is destroyed but the cure isn't found and Conan decides he can't make Ran wait for him anylonger, especially after putting her in danger several times, if he truly wants her happiness. He reveals his identity to Ran but asks her to forget him.

For those who couldn't play the game, the whole story (as I remember it, leading maybe to some small mistakes or imprecisions. There are also some elements I would have liked to add but that I can't explain unfortunately because my english level isn't good enough):

A strange fact is that Kogoro Mouri once began to suspecting Conan to hide things but after it was Ran and never again Kogoro who suspects something. For the other characters, Takagi seems to know there's more than meet the eye about Conan, and sometimes Mitsuhiko seems to suspect there is "something" strange about Conan and Ai.

Well, a theory like any other, it could be Araide maybe. It's one of the most unlikely suspects because of the Vermouth case, but that's maybe the whole thing was a trap. Everything could have been well calculated to deceive the FBI and the reader. And I don't really trust characters who look like all too nice and innocent and who get along well with everybody. lol !

Ah, I didn't know that. I'll go take a look. I was thinking of taking some DVDs for next Christmas. Thanks for the advice !
-
Thank you ! I'm happy to be here too ! tacticalwolf: I'll look for the series you recommand. Also, I would be interested to have some kind of information about the DVDs of Detective Conan. In France, only 100 to 150 episodes have been dubbed and only 30 of them were released on DVD. The first 5 movies and the first 62 volumes of the manga were also released. And it seems only the manga release will continue. How many episodes and movies are available on DVD in USA ? I would like to know if the american released of Detective Conan is more advanced than the french one (maybe I'll buy them in import) and if the japanese audio track is available (with english subtitles of course). Thank you very much !

I'm french and I live in France. But I'm not bilingual, I have a correct level in English but I try to improve it.

If you are interested (or someone else), I can speak in french in a discussion in Private Messages if that can help.

Okay ! Thanks for all these precisions ! Well, Detective Conan is one of my favorite manga with City Hunter (it didn't seem to be popular in United States, but in France it's one of the most famous manga thanks to the legendary anime City Hunter/Nicky Larson). But I love many mangas/animes. I have no idea how much I have seen but there are very few I didn't like (Hokuto No Ken and Captain Tsubasa for example. Very famous mangas but I didn't like).

Well, thank you ! I hope we'll get along well ! Don't hesitate to tell me what animes you like (except Detective Conan of course). I also like multiple series and we may have some in common (and I would like to discover some more). Well, I don't really mind. I just like to see the interaction between the characters (I love all the ambiguous remarks of Ai for example), no matter what it will finally be (even if we all know what it will be at the end). But, independantly, Ai is my favorite DC character, like many others characters played by Megumi Hayashibara (Rei Ayanami, Ranma girl, Lina Inverse, Lime, Canal Vorfeed, young Master Genkai, aunt Haruka...).

1) Ryo Saeba (City Hunter, Angel Heart) 2) Rei Ayanami (Neon Genesis Evangelion) 3) Harlock (Space Pirate Captain Harlock series) 4) Maetel (Galaxy Express 999) 5) Shinichi Kudo/Conan Edogawa 6) Ranma Saotomé (Ranma 1/2) 7) Kamui Shiro (Clamp's X)

1) City Hunter: Excellent manga with a lot of action, humour and very beautiful womens (I absolutely love how Hojo draws women). And one of the most charismatic manga heroes ever. 2) Detective Conan: A very pleasant lecture with loveable characters and interesting investigations' plots. 3) Angel Heart: A more dark, more mature and more violent City Hunter story, the fun of the 80's leaving his place to the social crisis and the pessimism of the 2000's. 4) Family Compo: A very warm vision of a transexual family by the eyes of a newcomer, and a lot of fun and very ambiguously funny plots. And of course, the beautiful Shion, one of the most funny and sexually ambiguous characters ever. 5) Ranma 1/2: One of the most popular and most funny work of legendary Rumiko Takahashi. A lot of second degree and loveable characters. 6) Clamp's X: Well, it's just one hell of a masterpiece. Very dark, very gloomy, but this apocalypse is truly wonderful. Why only 6th ? I got only one problem: it's unfinished (but still could be completed... one day... maybe...). 7) Saint Seiya: Well, the Knights of the Zodiac are heroes of my youth and I love greek mythology, so...
