[DCTP] Weekly Manga Scanlations Have Ceased
tengaku squared replied to User 4869's topic in Manga series
I get this question a lot, and it frustrates me, frankly. What does not liking DC have anything to do with being an active member? Do I have to like DC to be a member here? Because frankly, that's a pretty difficult thing for me to do. A copyright strike. I, personally, don't like how Viz wasted their opportunities with DC. As long as they hold the rights to DC, it's not going to be good. You have to understand that people that read scanlations – well, there's not a lot of them as you might think. Without any main broadcasting by a more powerful channel, there's no way that DC is going to get more popular. This is why I say that DC's western audience has been killed, though I think stagnate would be a better word. -
Wrote a proper About Me for you guys. Well, especially for the newbies that don't know me very well.

Just Watched the Desperate Revival Series
tengaku squared replied to Yoshi18's topic in Anime series
Loved the arc, but then the series progressed back to no relationship advancement at all, which kinda killed the entire point of the arc. That's what I believe happened at least – I watched Desperate Revival a long time ago and haven't rewatched it. -
[DCTP] Weekly Manga Scanlations Have Ceased
tengaku squared replied to User 4869's topic in Manga series
This was inevitable, but it was a fun ride while it lasted. Though I don't like DC, I really don't like hearing news like this, even if I don't like the series – it's not like the guys that made the strike are going to make the series any better. Considering their track history, they could make it worse. If they wanted to kill DC's Western audience, they have likely succeeded. Oh well. -
Makoto would make probably make a really good BO henchman. That guy is freaking invincible. But an operator or the boss? Kinda doesn't make sense, considering his primary assets.

The problem, should the nemesis be the detective's antithesis, is that humility is not a trait often found in the "bad guys". Yuusaku is kinda...meh, I dunno. There's something about having a familial relationship that kinda prohibits the development of an archnemesis relationship. Heiji acts more like a friendly rival than a worthy foe, as far as I'm aware/care. The series does set up Gin to be Conan's main adversary, considering he was the one that shrunk the guy in the first place, but Gin hasn't been seen in action for a while. Bourbon is the only "bad guy" that we know that fits the role of "detective", but Bourbon has his sights on Akai. There aren't a lot of good candidates for being an archnemesis, unfortunately. And for the poll: obviously. A conflict between two opposite characters is really good for plot.

Chapter 2: Phantom of the Air "If a phantom falls and no one is there to hear, does it make a noise?" - C.M. Robert Song of choice: Kaiki's theme from Monogatari (I actually don't know the name of this song) Notes: "With a KID attack stopped, the stage is set for the counterattack! Time to bag this phantom!" Objective: Capture the KID impersonator! Kyoko + Lilliam: Shell + C.M. Robert:

(Instating a new policy: you can't copy and paste my posts. I'm getting a bit tired of this, so keep to creating your own material off mine, guys!)

(Bain, you need to bold when your character is speaking English.) The bronze statue remained inert. Apparently the electrical current managed to stun it. With the dog downed, the crossing chaos began to subside. People started to gather around the site of the bronze statue in curiosity. "Sorry, coming through!" It was the voice of Kyoko Sasaki, making her way to the site. She eased her way out of the crowd and towards your group. She looked down at the bronze statue, and, looking back towards your group, whistled. "Good job." She walked over and took Ari's pistol, saying that "people are starting to notice the gun", and shoved the gun in her pocket. "You've done me a big favor. I'll spare you on the details, but by stopping this attack, I can clean up this entire mess." She took a deep breath, then clapped her hands together. When she did, thick, obscuring mist covered the entire crossing. You heard a strange whirring sound and felt odd, as if the entire earth was shifting and rumbling underneath you – though it wasn't a physical sensation, since the earth wasn't shaking at all. Then, the sensation stopped, and the mist began to clear. Once the crossing came into view, everything was back to normal. The bronze statue was back on the podium, friendly once more. Everyone who died during the attack appeared to have had their death reversed, as they now joined the rest of the crossing crowd. Speaking of the crowd, they appeared to have no recollection of the events, and simply returned to their original business. You looked around, and perhaps you took a glance at Kyoko, who somehow changed from her regular clothing to ornate church robes. Kyoko cleared her throat, and turned her attention back to the group. Her church robes flickered, and eventually her regular street clothing replaced them. "Oh, and before you ask, this isn't something I can do every time. First, if I keep messing with life and death, Shell's not going to be very pleased with me. Second, you have to stop the attack before I can fix the problem. If the attack goes through, like the 109 Building attack, I can't do anything about that. That being said, I would like you to catch that impersonator so we don't even need to go through that, but I think you all need some rest first. I'll see you guys later – under more friendly circumstances, perhaps?" Then she did her trademark yawn, snapped her fingers. Suddenly you found yourself back at the hotel room. ================================ Chapter 1 is finished! Chapter 2 will start probably tomorrow! Good job, guys!

(Status report. The following people need to show more activity: Tsukiko I expect high levels of participation whenever you can put some in, guys! I'm probably going to end this early September. We still have a lot of ground to cover, so let's go!)

Song of choice: Twister (Japanese ver.) - TWEWY soundtrack The sun was beginning to set and cast a yellow light over the crossing. As if disregarding of the time of the day, the crowd of people refused to disappear. Any motivation to leave was immediately quashed by a fluttering shower of KID cards suddenly descending around the Hachiko statue. The KID cards had the KID logo on one side and were completely blank on the other side. Everyone, including you, began looking around in confusion, until eyes began to lock onto the Hachiko statue. As for the reason why, that's easy: the KID impersonator was standing on Hachiko's head. Like always, the impersonator was wordless. After he got the attention of everyone in the crossing, he started to pull out something from his arsenal, causing people, expecting a gun, to cover themselves. Instead of a gun or other weapon, however, what he revealed was a magician's staff, completely black except for the tip, which was marble white. He twirled it around, then placed the white tip onto Hachiko's head. The sound of the staff banging against the bronze resonated through the crossing, which was completely silent. A moment passed, and the cliche "you could hear a pin drop" would have been quite appropriate. Then there was another sound, an odd one at that, of growling. What happened next appeared to come straight out of fantasy. The statue of Hachiko jumped off its base, bronze suddenly animate with vicious intent. The animated statue began to growl at the audience, who began to back away. Then the statue struck, attacking members of the audience. Once the statue began its killing spree, the KID jumped off the statue and began to run away from the scene, firing a gun at the crowd to disperse them. ========================== Objective: Subdue the animated Hachiko statue. Note, the above objective counts for completing the chapter objective, so completion will advance the story. Also, the KID impersonator is running away. Perhaps...go after him/her too? (If you've played TWEWY, you may have realized where I got my inspiration. Whether you have or not, please enjoy this event warmly.)

(Indeed you can't. Sorry, been a bit busy. Plot tomorrow, I promise!)

"Yo!" A young woman walked up to Misaki, all casual-like in attitude. "You're Misaki, aren't you? I've heard you perform, you're so awesome!" The apparent fan was wearing a leather black jacket – you know, the ones that make people look kinda conspicuous – and jeans. Short black hair matched the jacket's color, as well as the pair of sunglasses that completely obscured her eyes. In case you cared, she was lifting an unconscious L over her shoulder. "Found this one tied up in a bathroom stall in a fast-food restaurant. Looked foreign, so I decided to bring her to you, the group of foreigners who've been making quite the racket. She one of yours?" When your group affirmed that she was, she laughed lightly. "Of course, of course! Also, while you're here, why don't you take a look at the Hachiko statue?" She led your group through the crowded crossing until you were in front of a statue of a dog. Of course, slinging an unconscious girl brought some attention, so she set her down on a nearby bench. She put her hands on her hips and had a wistful look while looking at Hachiko. "Weird, it looks like Hachiko's gotten...darker. Not quite dirtier, but there's some kind of darkness surrounding it that wasn't there yesterday." She looked to your group, some who may have had a lost expression on their face, since she tried to explain. "Well, there's something, like some kind of dark energy surrounding Hachiko. Gives me the creeps." She sighed, then began to walk off. "Good luck to you, whatever you got yourself into!" She walked off and was gone.

Obliterated from the waist up by Unlimited Rulebook (Nisemonogatari) I need to be a bit specific, because Unlimited Rulebook is truly unlimited, and can do a lot of things.

...I'm actually a bit lost on this one, despite seeing you around so frequently I still don't know much about you. Maybe...because you're a bit sharp?

Kyoko stopped. "I promise that once this all ends once and for all, I'll provide all the answers you want. Well, perhaps not all. But I'll try. But please, just help. Stop this impersonator. I trust in you." She shrugged off Amber's hand and continued to walk out of the restaurant, around a corner, and away. Meanwhile, an awkward silence filled the restaurant. For starters, you eventually decided to meet up with the other half of your group and share information. And what Kyoko said may have bothered you, just a little. For a moment, she appeared vulnerable.

Lovely, mate, I love that one.

Lilliam seemed a little taken back by the question. She answered: "That note isn't meant for you." She took aim at Finn and frowned, as if disappointed by the question. "I thought you'd ask something a little more interesting, a little more fun. Oh well." She fired, and the bullet traveled down a straight line right at Finn, spinning in a course for destruction. But the bullet never hit Finn. When Finn opened her eyes, she found Shell standing in front of her. Shell was clutching its chest, but didn't appear to be in pain. Lilliam cursed, "Goddamnit you, why'd you mess it all up?!" She fired four more times, this time all at Shell, and Shell recoiled as each bullet hit its mark, but didn't make any outward appearances to be in pain. She tried firing again, only to realize that her gun had run out of shots. She cursed again and threw the gun on the street. "Well...this scenario has gotten boring...rather fast," Shell finally said. "These people...are my prey, so I would rather...you leave them alone." "Damn you, Reaper!" Shell paused in response to the name. "Reaper...that's nostalgic...or is it?" Shell proceeded to walk forward, back to Lilliam's side, and, turning back to face the group, grabbed Lilliam's arm. Now that it had turned around, you realized that Shell did suffer damage from Lilliam's attack, but didn't appear to bleed. In fact, the bullet holes...appeared to dig into empty flesh. "I hope you enjoyed...this little act. Oh...we will see each other again, under less...friendly circumstances. You are all at death's gate...or are you?" Then, Shell disappeared along with Lilliam, and everything went back to normal. Once you regained your senses, you may have realized that Chris and Mai had disappeared as well. Either way, what to do now? (New objective: Gather at the Shibuya Crossing. C.M. Robert will make his appearance eventually, and then...KID.)

"I-I-I'm fine! It has been a while!" Mai said in one outburst. She eyed the area nervously, as if she made a mistake. She crossed her arms in a defensive gesture and appeared like she was trying to make herself disappear. "U-umm, what I think about the message K..." she began, then choked on what seemed to be "KID". "The message K-KID wrote?" she continued. "I-I-I thought it was like...he was trying to talk to someone? B-b-b-but I could be totally wrong!" She was positively withering. At this point, Chris cleared his throat. "So sorry to interrupt, but we were being chased by a mysterious individual before we made it to this police station." As if on cue, a gunshot rang from behind your group, and the bullet passed right by Chris's head and ingrained itself into the nearby wall. As your group turned around, you saw a mysterious robed figure. Because of the brown robe, you found it impossible to discern the attacker's features. However, what you did notice was that the attacker was holding a gun. Mai immediately hid herself behind Chris, who turned to face the source of the voice. After a moment's pause, he grimaced. "Ah, you." The figure shook, as if laughing, then took off the hood from its head, revealing a girl with short red hair and a wicked sneer. "Lilliam Nevermore, at your service." She pointed a finger at Chris, then opened her entire hand and spanned the entire group. "This is getting boring. I think I'll kill you all and end this." But before she could shoot again, another figure appeared behind Lilliam, and put a single hand on her shoulder. Lilliam spun around, revealing Shell, again in the skeleton girl form. "What the hell are you doing here?" Lilliam finally exclaimed. "Oh...don't mind me," Shell replied. "I'm...not here to stop you. Continue as you wish. I think this will be...interesting." Lilliam grimaced, then recovered her composure and turned towards your group again, and took aim. Then she put down her gun and laughed. "Ha! I lie. I'm here to answer a few questions for you guys. But remember, there's a price for everything." ( :< )
