(Small personal mini mod note: Been busy and not on as often as I'd like. Will be back once investigations have concluded and everyone's back at the hotel.)

There is no canonical reason as of yet, but a potential reason (non-canon) has been given in Movie 2.

Mark simply headed home after he was searched. Solving the murders wasn't really a priority for him, but he decided to head back with the group. He made a quick change of clothes and headed to the cafe. He looked around, then heard, the conversation around him raging. Again, he had really no interest whatsoever in solving the murder, so he ordered a cup of coffee and sat down. He looked suspiciously at Jean. She gathered all of us for some other reason, maybe to solve this mystery. Or perhaps...to witness her art. Hah. He returned his glance downwards and took a drink. He looked at the group, and frowned. Did I see that girl before? Not at the airport, he realized. Late flight. He spinned his umbrella, which was on the ground. Mark had a feeling... ...that this is going to get very interesting...

As soon as Mark felt the raindrops run down his neck, he shivered, and quickly pulled out his umbrella. He struggled with the umbrella for a bit, then heard a voice: "...You won't be able to open it if you're so impatient and trying to force it up. The metal will break you know..." Fine, I'll try that. He took a deep breath (which was difficult as the rain was beginning to bother him), then slowly opened the umbrella. It creaked open, and Mark quickly positioned the umbrella and shook his head. The same person offered Mark some tissues, which Mark gratefully accepted, and quickly wiped himself down. All of a sudden, that girl began walking. Mark looked and noticed that a bunch of other people were headed to the same place. He ran and quickly tried to comprehend the scene he saw: Jay covered in blood, and a woman bleeding on the ground. After a little while, Mark turns around and dials 911 on his cell phone. Soon after, the police arrived at the scene. Mark was led aside for a brief interrogation by a certain Caleb. After being asked a few questions (which he answered as curtly as possible), he requested a towel to dry himself, as he was drenched. After he cleaned up, the sky began to clear, and Mark gave a sigh of relief. He heard the inspector's voice and sighed again, this time of weariness. Come on, can't I just go home? =============================================== (Technically I'm a round mod but I haven't been doing any cool mod announcing stuff yet and that makes sad Moho very sad. )

Mark politely turned down the money; money wasn't an issue for him, and Mark tried to end up in no one's debt when possible. He quickly bought a burger and sat down at an empty table, and begun eating. He kept a curious look on Heikki after that odd remark he made about murderers.

He frowned at the headline that looked back at him. "Mysterious Serial Killer Strikes Again?" he said aloud, then noticed that he got a few looks. "It's the news. There's a serial killer going around killing people. Look." He handed out the article, then began reading the next page of the newspaper. He subconsciously heard the conversation topic switch to the serial killer, but Mark ignored it. "Just another crime spree in Seattle, the police will probably stop it," he muttered. He relaxed back into a comfortable position, leaning on the column.

Aha, I was a bit confused there for a moment. Anyways, it's not all that engaging nor exciting. It's really rushed.

That deserves a penalty. Which puts you at 0. Alcaedias and Lovestruck have been eliminated. Come on, show some more activity, students!" The man shook his head. "And KKLT hasn't answered the riddle, so you'll be staying here for a little while longer." He walked up to Misaki-chan's desk. "Congratulations. The answer was indeed, 'himself'. But that riddle was more than just the last riddle from me. It's a message. Ah, but what is the message? That, you'll have to find out yourself." The man began to walk out of the room. And I have a final riddle for you. There will be no more breaks." He paused, took a breath, then recited: "Chester is driving down a road. Along the way, he meets Arthur, driving the opposite direction. Who is the only person, under all logical circumstances, that Chester cannot meet while driving?" He paused, then walked over and picked up his suitcase. "I don't know if this will be hard for you, but it does not matter. Anyone who answers this riddle correctly will be able to leave. Anyone who does not will be left here...for an extended amount of time. And by that, I mean forever." He began to walk out, then stopped. "By the way, I will inform you of one last thing. All penalties resulting from rule infractions have been tripled. And then, good luck to all of you, experiments." He walked out of the room once again. After the man left, the results of the previous riddle appeared on the board: Anime Girl 4 Eva: -4 (eliminated) Alcadeias: -4 Misaki-chan: -1 Kaitou Kid Legendary Thief: -4 Lovestruck: -1 ========================= (Riddle riddle, 3x penalties.
