  1. Felt bad that this thread wasn't receiving any love, so I took one of my college essays and knocked a hundred words off of it to post here. Word count: 100

That's like the average Los Angeles climate, with summer highs being only around the low 80s. You should move there, my sister tells me it's paradise on Earth. Schools are closed when the rain gets "bad", that's how little precipitation there is. I wouldn't move to Los Angeles; I love the snow too much.
  3. Serial killings in general are just awesome. I could Wikipedia them all day if I had the time. I once spent nearly 4 hours reading about case after case after case. Almost didn't do my homework.
  4. Oh my gosh, I thought I was the only one with that problem! Everyone else seems to walk so fast when there's ice on the ground and never slip, while I'm walking at 10% my normal speed and avoiding anything that might be ice. So, like, every anime character gets on your nerves?
  5. Finished Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou a while ago and am now watching Sabagebu. Both are relatively funny, silly anime I'm watching for fun. Nothing I'd personally recommend, but I feel I haven't been watching enough comedies recently so I'm giving these guys a shot.
  6. Waiting for someone to post in the anime this season thread so I can talk about my first impressions...

  7. "Aqua Terrarium" by Yanagi Nagi; Nagi no Asukara's first ending theme ^Google-senpai helped me. Never watched Nagi no Asukara, but Yanagi has a lovely voice. Especially love her older songs like "Koibumi", as well as her work with Supercell and that one collab album with Jun Maeda. For some reason, I haven't really found any of her recent songs to be that good. Hit her peak in 2012 but has deteriorated since then. Bit of a shame. Last song I listened to was "Forever Young" by Alphaville.
  8. Episode 13 was actually pretty fun. I had already seen the special adaption of it, but I think A-1's non-canon moments were really well done. First off, Crunchyroll did a nice job with the subs. There were no glaring translation issues at least. The new opening and ending are pretty decent. There's a bit of foreshadowing in the opening and the overall color scheme and tone is a bit darker. We also have quite a few scenes with [highlight for manga spoilers] Kaitou Corbeau in them, which was cool. The ending was pretty basic, but we did get Akako in her OVA 1 attire as well as a mini movie 14 reference in one of the sepia colored scenes. As for the actual episode, showing some of the other pairs in the ski competition was a great idea. The Titanic one got me, haha. Akako looked nice in her Elsa *ahem* Snow Queen costume. I actually enjoyed this episode, though I'm not too sure how much I'll enjoy the Crystal Mother one we're getting next week, since they've animated that one twice already.

Wait wat, Kenzi isn't even here! This is beyond just shipping, I don't even--
  10. Hm, when you explain it like that, it makes more sense. Sorry about all that man, I just didn't quite catch the tone of your posts from before. Giving you a rep as an apology.
  11. Slipped on the ice three times today, shuffling my feet slower than my grandpa. Either I have terrible balance or my sneakers suck.

Here at DCW we're pretty laid back. Everyone here gets sidetracked all the time, but since it's the off-topic chatroom it's nothing that would make any of the mods swoop in and lock things up. Actual discussion on Detective Conan can be slow since it's a very slow series, so the chatroom is a place people spend most of their time while waiting for something of substance to talk about. Don't just decide things on your own, MK!
  13. Man, I'd love for some garlic bread, too. Just want dinner in general actually; I think it's almost finished cooking.

Ah, I didn't really mean it in that way. Maybe I shouldn't have spoken on Kenzi's behalf; I was just under the impression that everyone else was "over-shipping", or something. Well, I suppose when she logs on she can answer that for herself.

Pretty sure Kenzi and I both just see each other as friends. ^Jeez, machine is trying her best to keep this thread on topic while everyone else is spamming like this is an OMM page.
  19. not really an expert in this kinda stuff, but showing "dominance" can make some people come off as intimidating we're not living in the stone age anymore, lol First of all 175 cm isn't that short. I'm not that much taller. And "'Murica" is just a slang way of saying "America", since it looks like you didn't really get the joke. Height honestly shouldn't make much of a difference. I have this one friend who's really short, but has a large personality and is a really great guy, known him since elementary school. He's able to hit it off with and flatter any and all types of girls. Personality probably makes the most difference. Secondly, Kenzi called you out for something I was a bit hesitant to mention. Your ways of trying to get a girlfriend are just, well, wrong. Maybe you've been watching too many movies, television shows, or anime, but you need to rethink your strategy. Real life doesn't work the way fiction does. Slapping is honestly pretty childish and one-liners are cringeworthy (you even admit they're "cheesy"). Just be yourself. Sorry if that's a cliche answer you've been told before and is not something you want to hear, but it's the truth. And the truth can suck; I'm going to hate paying taxes, too. There's a girl out there for you, for sure. And if you can't seem to click with anyone, then maybe you're not looking at things the right way. From your posts, it's obvious that you sometimes approach girls you're not familiar with. Sooo, I take it you only want to date them because they're physically attractive? I apologize for the cliche again, but looks aren't everything. Personally, the girls that I like the most are the ones I enjoy talking to. Personality is a lot more important than looks, no two ways about it. You can deny it all you want now, but in the future you'll join the bandwagon and realize a pretty face and a shapely body are overrated. I'm not sure what you're looking for in a relationship, but I honestly hope you're looking for a deep, meaningful one, not a one-night stand or something. Now, I'm only seventeen going on eighteen, so I don't know everything there is to know about romance, but I hope you seriously consider what I've told you. I didn't mean to sound that harsh; I just want to make sure you don't stray too far off the beaten path. tl;dr
  20. Penguindrum is my favorite anime of all time, no lie, haha. A few have come close, but no other anime have moved me or provided an experience quite like Penguindrum has. It's jam packed with symbolism and hidden meanings. I recommend you rewatch it some time in the future; most people including myself feel it's even better the second time, believe it or not. I've seen it four times already, and I still notice small details I had missed countless times before. I didn't like Utena quite as much, though it's probably because Ikuahara was still experimenting. As for YKA, the first episode didn't hit me quite as hard as Penguindrum's first episode did, but I really enjoyed it regardless. Of course, I'm a bit of a Ikuhara fanboy, so I'm probably being a bit biased. I expect really great things from it. And yeah, the opening just felt very Penguindrum-esque, down to the song lyrics. Studio Pierrot must have gone broke. What in God's name was that opening?! One of the worst, if not the worst, opening sequence I have ever seen, song and visuals combined. And it doesn't help that the animation doesn't seem improved in the slightest from the previous season's. I haven't read the manga, so I can't exactly say much about the plot yet, but this first episode would have been a better last episode of the first season. Ugh, huge mess of an anime, but I'll continue watching it for Touka, if nothing else. On another note, the prologue episode of Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata aired today. The humor isn't too bad, though the fanservice was a bit much compared to what I had envisioned. Pretty standard harem anime, average animation, relatively interesting characters, etc. This will probably serve as my status quo show for the season.
