  1. Waited hours for F/sn:UBW episode 1 to finally come out late, and was not disappointed.
  2. Ahh, so eye contacts. Sorry, read another one of your posts before this and was confused. If you don't know what I'm talking about yet, you'll figure it out when you read around the chatroom some more.
  3. Contacts as in eye contacts? For sight or for cosplay? And if for sight then are you far or near sighted? If not eye contacts then people you know contacts? E-mails? Phone numbers?
  4. There's already a topic for explaining or talking about your username here.
  5. Ehhh, maybe a select few episodes and I might re-read the manga. Or maybe even just a few select chapters, because I honestly don't think I'll find the time for it. It's been a fun ride so far and holds a lot of nostalgic value, and that's good enough for me.
  6. Haven't been following the anime so I don't know which chapters have been adapted recently, but when plot related manga chapters get their anime fix I'll definitely tune in to support!
  7. Welp, every fall anime I've been looking forward to watching as aired at least their first episodes. Parasyte looks really good. It has a bit of a nostalgic and pseudo-old school feel to the color scheme, but has very consistent art so it doesn't look sloppy. The plot is fascinating and it's not censored like Tokyo Ghoul and Terra Formers were. Honestly, Parasyte is everything Tokyo Ghoul should have been if it had received a better studio. One of my favs this season for sure. I've been looking for a good slice of life anime to watch, and Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso has delivered. Usually these types of romantic dramas are plagued with poor art because they don't have quite the budgets of action anime, but Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso looks absolutely stunning. Like, really really really good. The opening sequence is gorgeous and the short bit of piano playing we saw actually had the fingers matching up with the song. Maybe it's because a music oriented myself, but this anime is a keeper. I'm preparing my feels as I speak. Overall, these are my initial impressions! I've ordered everything I'm watching in terms of how strong their opening episodes were: 1. Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works (TV) 2. Parasyte -the maxim- 3. Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso 4. Shingeki no Bahamut: Genesis 5. Log Horizon Season 2 6. Magic Kaito 1412 Also, I'd like to add that I'm still watching Akame ga Kill! and Sword Art Online II, which both starting airing in summer and are in their second cours. I'll admit I'm not a big fan of either of the series, but from what I've seen I'd have to put them as better than MK142 but worse than Log Horizon, with AgK better than SAO. I might come back with some more thoughts after a few weeks have passed and more episodes have aired.
  8. This is completely off topic, but oh my gosh CarpetCrawler's Twitter is actually still active! And he's still a Ninentdo fanboy like me who just unlocked Duck Hunt in Sm4sh 3DS! Someone needs to drop a line and let him know he's missed here at DCW. And as a side note, happy early/late birthday to Shinichi, I guess.............? @salsabillah15, You dug up a topic almost as old as I am on DCW, which isn't exactly a good thing, but I've rediscovered CC's Twitter account so I'll personally forgive you.
  9. Sweet, I actually founded an Anime and Manga Club at my high school and we're having a meeting tomorrow. Honestly, even though it's my own club, I'm hyped for it every week. I'm so silly.
  10. R.I.P. Iemasa Kayumi. And to think I just heard you as James Black in movie 18...

  11. To find someone who's gotten into Magic Kaito before Detective Conan is a rare thing indeed. Gosho Aoyama originally wrote Magic Kaito as its own separate manga, long before writing Detective Conan. It never really caught on and he eventually stopped writing chapters (he occasionally continues, but only whenever he feels like it and at the expense of new DC chapters). The Magic Kaito anime (12 episodes) can't be considered a true series because episodes aired sporadically over the course of a few years, and only during the time slots of DC episodes. (At this point, it should be obvious MK tends to take a back seat to DC.) This 12 episode special itself introduced anime original characters (Spider) that helped to develop the organization, though admittedly it was mainly for naught as there wasn't really much of a conclusion anyway. The new Magic Kaito 1412 is an actual bonafide series that is slated to air for 24 episodes. Considering its length, it's most likely going to cover all of the existing chapters from the beginning of Magic Kaito and then potentially have an anime original conclusion. Though most of the scenes will be the "same", it's a new and more consistent adaptation of the manga so it's worth a watch. It's going to air every Saturday from this point onward to around the end of March, and it's sure to keep you occupied. Worst comes to worst, you invest a bunch of your time until March only to find that there is still no ending. However, it's your best bet, because the 12 episode specials have a .00001% chance of being continued and Gosho will most likely not officially finish writing the manga. Detective Conan was my gateway anime, so it holds sentimental value for me, but it's a huge investment. Much like the big three shounen anime/manga (One Piece, Naruto, Bleach), the story tends to drag and there's barely an ending in sight. If you're thinking of watching it only for Kaitou Kid though, I'd say stick to MK1412. He rarely appears, and it's not going to satisfy you because there's zilch development on the organization from Magic Kaito in DC. If you want to know how many times he appears, here's a page on our wiki that lists every episode he's in. As you can see, he finally shows up in episode 76. However, the episodes involving him are from Conan's point of view anyway, so I highly doubt you're going to have fun watching them. Some people will try and recruit you and recommend watching Detective Conan, but I personally feel that it's not worth the trouble. There are better anime to spend your time on, and if you're wondering why I'm here on a DC forum it's because I joined back in my younger years when DC was the only anime I had watched and I wasn't applying to college. tl;dr 1. Watch Magic Kaito 1412, because it might have the ending you're looking for. 2. Do not watch Detective Conan, because there's very little Kaitou Kid in it.
  12. I always upload my sigs to Google's long since forgotten Picasa Web Albums (wait no, I think it's part of Google+ now...) Regardless, if you have a Google account, using their image uploading thing, whatever it's called, is pretty convenient. Just save whatever picture you want from online and re-upload it there if the link isn't working. It keeps the photos private too, unless you change the settings, so you don't have to feel bad about "taking" someone else's work, though the pictures show fine in DCW sigs. My current Ace Attorney signature, and practically every other signature I've ever had, was uploaded there. It's a lot more private than things like imgur.
  13. Hm, interesting idea I suppose. The unnamed BO member has like, no eyebrows though. And I really doubt he's Rum, only because I have a feeling Rum is a completely new character, never before seen. I guess he could be Anokata, though there's so little we know of him right now it's rather hard to draw any real conclusions. Hopefully Gosho drops some more hits after this Rum arc concludes, just so it's not some random reveal out of left field.
  14. Oh my gosh, I wish it were Saturday so I could watch the next episode of Fate/stay night. My heart hurts, it's almost like being in love. Based ufotable, all my fanboy are belong to you!
  15. I didn't think it was that bad... The art in this movie was, by today's standards, really really poor. It's understandable considering the team had to juggle this and the Lupin III crossover movie, but it was at the level of other anime's episode quality, if not even lower, for even the parts that weren't action packed. It was so bad, Gosho's art stood out even more than it usually does. The soundtrack didn't really speak to me at all, and I'm starting to get a bit annoyed that they haven't yet changed the animations for the opening intro sequence after all these years. Apart from Gin's hair color change, the scenes from when Shinichi poses for the newspaper to when Conans walks to the detective agency with Ran have been exactly the same since movie 7! That was 11 years ago! It's almost unacceptable they haven't reanimated those scenes yet. I'm only cutting them some slack this time around because they had to do two movies. Now, time for my opinion on the main meat of the movie (major spoilers): All in all though, it was still a fun ride, and much better than most of what we've had the past few years. Just don't expect this movie to rival those of the golden years of DC movies, which in my opinion were all the movies directed by Kenji Kodama sans movie 7.
  16. You should have just asked that question on the YouTube video directly. Assuming you didn't recognize the song and didn't realize it was a DC opening or ending, it could have been One Piece's 27th opening for all you knew, and almost no one on here would have been able to help you. Also, if you have a question, it's best to ask here: http://www.detectiveconanworld.com/forum/topic/1219-dc-question-and-answer-thread/ Lastly, even if there was no Q+A thread, you posted this topic in the wrong place. It would have fit better under "General" or "Anime series".
  17. Whew, just read the chapter, and though it's pretty standard and predictable so far, it has potential. The black Kaitou Kid looks badass and Harry is Rum, calling it now.
  18. I say we merge them. Keiko Momoi is on both pages somehow, and so is the sub-Boss. It would probably be simpler if it were one page, as the one page wouldn't be all that clunky or long anyway. EDIT: Oopps, I spoke too soon. Upon further consideration, because of the new manga chapters and MK1412 which will undoubtedly add in new anime-original characters, having only one page may be a bit messy. We should keep it at two. Eh, we still need to clear up that Keiko and sub-Boss mess though...
  19. Umm, what are you saying? I don't think you're posting in the right thread, and please don't double post. Or dig up dead topics.
  20. Considering how they had to modernize a rather old manga, they did a pretty good job. Sure the art was bad, but the new OST and some new voice acting separated it from the Detective Conan universe a bit, which is great. It feels like its own series now, which it was supposed to be, though we'll see how Conan plays into this later. Every original scene or joke was spot on except for Toichi's death. But considering they put that in, I can imagine that they're going to adapt the entire manga, a few Conan clashes, and then wrap it up with an original ending. Oh yeah, and a shout out to the CGI, which looked amazing. Too bad it contrasted way too much with the other sloppy animation.
  21. The fall season of 2014 as begun, and I'm already hyped! I started Log Horizon Season 2, which wasn't that bad but because the animation studio changed some new character designs can be a bit jarring. The standout show this season however, is undoubtedly Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works. Even after only one episode, which was a prologue episode, I can safely and honestly say this series could very easily be anime of the year. Stellar animations and backgrounds, best action scenes I've seen in a weekly series, and solidly intriguing premise. This is the next big one, I'm calling it now. If you're planning on watching this though, I'd suggest you first watch Fate/Zero. This episode was just a bit too subtle for newcomers. And of course, I have quite a few more I plan to watch this season, and we'll see how those turn out later down the line. EDIT: I saw the first episode of Magic Kaito 1412, which wasn't really much more or less than I expected. Shingeki no Bahamut: Genesis is a series that's airing during the wrong season. There are so many other big names that a quality work like this is being overlooked by most people. It's a load of fun with a relatively unique premise and very recognizable style. It's definitely going to be the underrated and under-appreciated anime this fall, which is a shame.
  22. The first episode aired today, and though I haven't had the chance to see it yet the first opening and ending have been uploaded to YouTube. Here's the opening: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qS0f_sr9mEQ And the ending: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_8xoKaOi844 Well, it definitely feels like a a legit series now and not just a bunch of specials. It has a ton of competition this season with things like Fate/stay night, Psycho-Pass 2, Log Horizon Season 2, Parasyte, and Sword Art Online II (into its second cour) among others, but I guess because it has such a niche fan base it'll do fine. A-1 Pictures has done a much better job in the animation department in the past than it's willing to go to the trouble of with MK1412, but it's not like the Gosho universe has seen impressive art in anything other than movies anyway. How do you guys think we should discuss the upcoming half-year of episodes? Should we have a new topic for each episode? One topic for the whole series with labeled spoilers?
  23. There have been so many things to look forward to these past few days that aren't movie 18, I've completely forgotten to get hyped for this movie. I'm trying to watch the trailer again, but it's not working for me. This might be a good opportunity; if I keep my expectations in check I'll be pleasantly surprised. I'm honestly just waiting for the day we get a DC movie that's actually cinematic with actually impressive art and direction. This movie, from the clips I've seen, looks more like an OVA than something I'd watch on the big screen. But of course, considering it's a movie for a series with a well established fan base, I doubt we'll ever get anything truly groundbreaking.
  24. Ooh, you play volleyball?! That's really cool. I don't myself, and I don't really follow it, but it seems like a fun sport anyway. Ah, someone I like is on the volleyball team, which is why I have a bit of an interest in it.
  25. Oh my, haha. I wasn't really expecting an apology. Don't worry, I write wishy-washy statements all the time.
