Shirou is Sonoko's father so in context "Aha! So you came, Shirou's wee lass!" is a bit like saying "You came after all, Shirou's little girl!", only 'wee lass' is so much less awkward sounding than the alternatives. I don't know how it directly translates though. EDIT: Oh, Chekhov already answered unless the posts got messed up somehow o.O... *headdesks*

In case anyone was wondering about more detail on the bottle trick, it involves a magnet holding a coin on the inside of the bottle. Basically, the magician knocks the outside coin against the glass, at the same time removing the magnet and hiding the outside coin to make it appear as though the coin has appeared on the inside of the bottle. Or at least that's how I remember it. I saw it on TV ages ago... *totally didn't post just to say the 'I saw it on TV' line*

I think the 'security guy' mentioned was just Bourbon's way of explaining away his BO abilities, but I like the Date idea too .

Considering how little people seem to care here about being spoiled, while I do think you should be careful, perhaps putting it in a spoiler tag with a clear warning above it explaining where it takes evidence from, maybe that would be okay? It's not like people can claim to have missed a huge warning after all Still, waiting for confirmation that that's allowed is probably best.

If it's copyright reasons, I get that for the title (due to the other Conan things about), but as only the Japanese names were changed at the beginning, I'm excluding Conan because it is an English name, even if a kind of weird one, it makes more sense for if it's localisation. Also, I heard that CC is now giving the original names to all new characters, if the names were changed for legal reasons, wouldn't they still apply now so they would have to make up new names for newer characters? So, I think the title is for legal reasons, but the names were to attempt to localise it so more Americans/Canadians would read, which, once they realised wasn't working they stopped doing with the newer characters who arrived (they'd have to republish everything if they wanted to change the names they'd changed at the start).

Because they want to discuss the case perhaps, but not ruin it for themselves by looking at the Chinese stuff or people who've read the spoilers? Ah, right, think I misunderstood what you meant at first, my reply was commenting on the manga spoiler and non-spoiler people while you were talking about the manga-anime divide. Anyway, while I think at DCTP this could probably be pulled off, at DCW some people just don't seem to realise they need to use spoilers even after being told, or post manga spoilers in any section at all without any warning beforehand to anime or non-spoiler manga people so unless something was done about that first (people are told anyway, but still do it and banning is really too extreme imo) making a different thread would be useless as the spoiler people would post in the non-spoiler one about the Chinese file or spoilers anyway, at least from previous experience with some people here :/.

@Jakeel: I think the FBI only employs people who've born and grown up in America so that idea doesn't really work :/... Other random stuff... I've noticed the org tend to pay out a lot of money on cars, Gin's Porsche, Chianti's bullet-proof car (try this page) and the numerous motorbikes they have. I was just thinking that Amuro's car likely fits into this pattern because of how well it survived a car ramming into it in the Online Client case (here). In contrast, Okiya's car is so utterly opposite to that idea (see here and this post).

I prefer around the 200, 300 episodes in terms of 300, 400 era generally having a lot less moments where, say, Conan looks the size of Takagi's head and stuff. One of my favourite animated cases is 347 because well, it looks so smooth and fits imo (I know that the person who did that episode is by far my favourite), though I know Wakari prob'ly thinks the animation round there was too childish, right? But, the old stuff without the bright colours, but still kind of... new-ish style animation is around the 200, 300 mark so I went for that (Also, I really like some of the openings around that point)

Considering Araide's first case with the maid(?) being tricked into killing someone, Conan was fine with her not finding out or being punished for it because he believed the real person to blame was the wife. It might just be Aoyama hadn't quite decided yet on Conan's opinion, but it does show he seems to care more about... intent? I suppose *needs to rewatch case* Still, I agree that it's naive to think you can save everyone and both Ran and Shinichi are way too idealistic sometimes...
