You are aware that the director does not write the movie ? All the movies except 3 were written by Kazunari Kochi. Movies 10 and 11 were written by Hiroshi Kashiwabara, who thankfully never came back again after, while movie 6 was written by Hisashi Nozawa, a famous japanese screen writer and novelist who unfortunately commited suicide in 2004.

The older by far, especially colour wise. A detective anime with flashy colours just seems weird. Besides, I prefer hand-drawn animation to cheaper digitally made garbage.

The endings' animation has almost always been average at best anyway.

Let's be precise here. The one part AOs starting from the 300s suck and should be destroyed for ever. However, the 2 part AOs are always at least decent, except when they only involve the DB.

It depends. Dragged out pure comedy works fine (Shin-chan, Kochikame). However, dragged out romance comedy does't, which is why most pure romance mangas are usually not that long : Maison Ikkoku, Rose of Versailles, Touch, Kimagure Orange Road etc...

+1 Romance doesn't adapt itself very well to the long-running nature of DC, which is why it's now mostly annoying, ridiculous or both at the same time.

The thing is you consider that DC's timeline has to be coherent with the plot in evey single aspect (time must progress or it will seem that APTX brings immortality...except many characters didn't take APTX and yet they appear immortal to the reader) while I think (and Gosho too apparently) that it only has to be adapted to the writing of numerous cases, the influence on the plot being secondary. The timeline is only there so the author can keep writing cases and it logically doesn't regard all the entire elements involved in the plot, but since the every-day cases are more important than the plot in terms of representativity, the rules are made and adapted for the former.

I agree with this. They basically did the same thing with movie 14 except they took an idea from a half an hour AO.

Yes, a witch as a main character in DC, that would be great. Hopefully we'll get a case where the murderer ends up being a goblin.
