  1. The problem is, some people still don't like it when people control their character in any way or form. Yes, it does allow a great deal more flexibility, but it also makes some people uncomfortable. If the voting is very close, we can put restrictions on godmodding instead of completely taking it away or allowing it fully. For godmodding rules... - limited to ??? # of times per post - limited to talking I also want to change the rules for realistic, to narrow it down. No incorporating fictional people or organizations from published works. Exceptions may bem ade of the DCW IRL event takes place in a certain world, but it must be limited to that world.
  2. *shrugs* I just can't stay away, huh. It's a weakness of mine. There were some people I just couldn't quite leave behind.

  3. Note: Hano has been officially disqualified.
  4. Kinda a biased statement there since both have fans. It might just be because the Fray is covered more widely in the US. The fact that they're actually a US band might help in that factor. As for me personally, I've been listening to the Script more frequently recently. Mainly For the First Time since that is possibly my current favorite song in the romance department. Unlike a lot of the songs talking about young love and being together forever, I kind of always imagined For the First Time as a song about struggling to be a family but trusting that they'd succeed. That's what I like about that song--how it's different. I'm not the most avid Script fan there is, that's for sure. I won't be attending any concerts in the near future. I haven't listened to all of their songs either. But some of them are unique and good. Of course, some of them aren't that great and somewhat generic, but no band is perfect. If I had to put the songs I've listened to in order, it'd be something like this: 1. For the First Time 2. The Man Who Can't be Moved 3. Breakeven 4. Nothing 5. If You Ever Come Back 6. Science and Faith 7. Exit Wounds 8. This = Love There were a few songs (Science and Faith, Breakeven, Nothing) that I really used to love, but have gradually grown bored of.
  5. Poll has been put up regarding the recent problem with godmodding (the usage of other people's characters without their explicit permission). This rule will be continued for the rest of the beta version of DCW IRL and may or may not be changed starting with the next round. EDIT: Poll will be up until August 25th. A new poll will be put up with other rules at that time. EDIT 2: Putting reasons for godmodding/not godmodding below. Feel free to add in comments below. Reasons for Godmodding - easier to get the storyline flowing - easier when in the middle of a conversation or the person is not online - gives additional flexibility in posting Reasons for not Godmodding - literally hands people the ability to write the story themselves, which ruins the point of DCW IRL - people may feel that their character is being used in ways they don't approve of - gives certain people the upper hand in situations
  6. (Again, please do not use other people's characters without permission. This is becoming a repeated problem. We did this in the original DCW IRL and if you feel that this should be reinstated in future DCW IRLs, please vote in the General Info thread.)
  7. Nice! I'm sure you'll have fun. :)

Gotta dash. I'm really not supposed to be on.

  8. Life is okay. I got my laptop back from Apple which was a plus, but I lost all my files. I've also been craving the need to write recently. Nothing special. You?

  9. Sorry, I've been busy!

And yeah, it's been a while.

  10. (Who is Valther's righthand man? The character I created that just kidnapped all of you is certainly not who you believe he is. I alone control him and he is your main antagonist. And no, if Hano is kicked, I would rather someone not join. At this point, we have enough players to juggle and we're having trouble with even that.)
  11. Hey, Hano, this is your last day to post on DCW IRL. If you don't post today, you'll be kicked from the thread.

  12. (First, this new man is completely different from Valther's group. He has nothing to do with them. Tried to make that clear, though it appears that some people still did not recognize this.) (Second, you're welcome, Ange-chan!) (Third, I'd rather people try to keep things realistic and not have any take an obvious upper hand at any time. I can't control what each of you write, but I can certainly tell you, if one side is obviously winning, it suddenly becomes a great deal less interesting for the other side. People need to cooperate to make this work. Unlike Mafia, which consists of sending in actions, strategy, and teamwork, this requires a lot of cooperation and ability to know when one goes too far. You also have to be able to work together. While you may be on different sides of the kidnapping event, you are trying to create a story together. You're trying to make a clear storyline. This isn't going to be a piece of cake.) Hano has not posted for four days. At the end of today, he will be kicked from this thread.
  13. (The limited number still has to be discussed, but for now, avoid creating any new ones and if you do create any, stick with them. Don't just create new NPCs for the heck of it. You can just say "the guard" or "his partner.")
  14. (Oh, and you don't have to write in present tense. I just did that on the first post and decided to stick with it for my posts.)
  15. You arrive in eerie silence. This man seems much more capable than the previous kidnappers. The ropes are tighter, the gags just right, and five guards are dispersed in the truck with you. The only sound you hear is the sound of the tires against the road and the hum of the engine. Slowly, the truck stops. Each of the guards take two people and several more guards file in to help. The man in the mask oversees everything, his cold stare urging the men to work faster. The hostages are separated. There are no more than five in each holding room and there are at least three guards. The man enters the first room. He nods at the guards who each put on face masks, as does the man himself. "You all looked exhausted," the man murmurs. Smoke pours in from concealed holes in the wall. You begin to feel drowsy. "Goodnight," the man says. He repeats this for the other rooms as well. (Starting a new day.)
  16. Additions for next round: - cut down on # of people per round - limit # of NPCs - possibly add another round as compensation for fewer people I'm thinking maybe 6 people per round. It's easier to keep track of that way.
  17. (The man got whoever was in the building or in its immediate vicinity. And like AiL said, you have so many NPCs that you're manipulating that it's getting confusing and other people are not getting a fair share in writing. (For future rounds, we will most likely be cutting down on size and # of people for each round as well as limited NPCs. We may add an additional round to compensate. I feel that if you have a group you particularly want to do a round with (3+ people) and you have a capable mod that's agreed to do it, you can request it, though your request may or may not be approved.)
  18. We can consider that for future rounds, though I think that at this point it'll be a little troublesome in the current round.
  19. (My pleasure. Things were getting confusing and someone had to step in.)
  20. "Come out with your hands up!" The kidnappers curse. Is it going to come to this? A wave of relief crosses through the kidnappees. Their saviors are here. A man walks in, dressed in a fine black suit with a black mask, almost like that of a masquerade dancer. "Stop." His voice echoes through the room with amazing clarity and an odd hypnotic tone to it. He snaps his fingers. Suddenly, masked people pour in. They grab the kidnappers and victims alike, gagging and bounding them. One of the kidnappers fights against the mob to no avail. "Who are you?" the man yells. The man in the suit stares down at him coldly. "My name cannot be spoken by such filth as you." He punches the man in the stomach. The man doubles over, blood coming out of his mouth. He falls to the ground, unconscious. The man turns to the people that he ordered to bind the victims. "Load them up. We have work to do." ~~~ (Since things are getting a little out of hand, this man will serve as the antagonist for now. I'll control him.)
  21. (Before anyone posts anymore, I would like everyone to post a clarification indicating where they are, what they're in the process of doing, etc. This is so we can see whether or not the storyline matches up before we confuse ourselves even further.)
