yeah i know that the whole explanation thing got a bit over board XD well thanks. i'm still thinking of the whole storyline you know. trying to not make it cliche like most of the ones in fanfic. and yes i will not make them stay children. most no scratch that. all pairings in DC are childhood friends for gods sake. no suspense at all

It took me a long time to update but i finally finished it. YES! Hope you guys like it. comments and suggestions please. Memorable Trip (part one) “Camping! Camping! Today we camp tomorrow we camp too!” shouted enthusiastically over and over by three kids non-stop during the trip. They were sitting at the very back of the rental van. Two teens were sitting in between the driver’s seat and the kids sitting at the back. Agasa-hakase was only focused on driving while the two kids sitting beside him seem to be absorbed in small talk. “Geez! Why did we even get dragged to this trip?” asked an annoyed boy with black hair and cobalt eyes to girl sitting next to him. “It can’t be helped Conan-kun. The kids really love camping and we got dragged here because of your ‘girlfriend’” dully replied by a strawberry blonde haired girl with sapphire eyes to her seatmate. The boy slightly blushed and quickly retorted, “Baka! Ai, she is not my ‘girlfriend’!” Ai only smirked at this and cooly said, “Could’ve fooled me Conan-kun.” All of you may wonder why these two kids act stranger than what normal kids act. Don’t judge a book by its cover. Physically, the two may seem like ordinary 10 year old kids but in reality they are 20 years old. The raven haired boy is named Edogawa Conan. He was the famous high-school detective Kudo Shinichi before he witnessed an illegal transaction and was later forced to drink a supposedly lethal drug but luckily it only shrank him. For three years he has been searching for clues about the whereabouts of the Organization but alas his efforts are in vain. The strawberry blonde girl is Haibara Ai. Looks may be deceiving but in fact she was an ex-member of the Organization. She was previously known as “Sherry” or “Miyano Shiho”. She was also the developer of the poison that shrank Kudo Shinichi. Her sister was killed by the organization so she rebelled and was sentenced to death but in a last ditch effort to escape torture, she drank the poison known as APTX 4869 and was later shrank to a 7 year old. She had been in hiding from the organization for 3 years now. “Oi! What are you two lovebirds talking about?” asked an overly curious Sonoko while carefully scrutinizing the kids’ faces. Ai and Conan blushed furiously at what they heard and simultaneously shouted, “What do you mean about lovebirds?!” “Eh Conan-kun? You and Ai-chan are dating?” asked Ran. “We are not!” they yet again said simultaneously Sonoko gave them a cheeky yet intimidating expression and asked, “So why are you answering questions exactly at the same time and using the very same words?” “Conan-kun. How could you?” asked the boy at the back with a hint of jealousy in his voice “Ai-chan is it true?” asked a raven haired girl with sadness and disappointment in her voice “I told you already that we are not dating Yoshida-san” said Ai a bit too sternly “Yeah Mitsuhiko. Why would I even date this evil yawny eyed girl” retorted Conan. Realizing what he said. “oops… s-sorry H-h-haibara” he stuttered. When he looked at her he quickly looked away seeing he icy cold glare. “Too late.” “WHACK!” Ai hit his head a bit too hard and a lump quickly form at the point of impact. “Ouch! I was only kidding Ai.” Conan said sarcastically. “Geez! Why, why, why did we even got into this mess?” FLASHBACK! “Hey Ran! Do you want to go camping with me to Gunma Prefecture? I heard that a lot of hot guys go through that particular site to hike” asked by none other than the overly flirtatious Sonoko Suzuki. “Sonoko! Why are you thinking of boys again? But I will gladly accept the invitation.” Said Ran while smiling. Her gaze went to the little boy beside her and asked, “Conan-kun, would you like to come along as well?” “Of course Ran-neechan” said Conan in a childish voice “Ran-neechan! Sonoko-neechan! Can we come along as well?” asked the three kids (Ayumi, Genta, Mitsuhiko) Sonoko glared at the kids and said, “No! I don’t want to babysit because I will look for my future boyfriend.” Ran said in a pleading voice, “Sonoko! We should allow them to come along. They can look after themselves you know.” “Fine but don’t expect Sonoko Suzuki, deduction queen to babysit these brats while camping.” She said in an overly confident voice “Ai-chan and Hakase should came along too.” Said Ayumi Keeping an emotionless face, Ai said, “Pass” “Ai! You should come as well. Please. You need to get out of the laboratory once in a while, it will help you relax.” Said Conan grinning with a glint of concern in his eyes “Fine, I will come. I will tell Hakase about it too.” Said Ai half-heartedly Sonoko had an evil grin on her face and said in a voice that could cause goosebumps, “little girl it seems that you only accepted to come because of your husband” Then she smirked while pointing at Conan. Ayumi and Mitsuhiko glared at the two showing how jealous they were END OF FLASHBACK! “Well… it is your fault why I even had to this trip and what ‘Sonoko-niichan’ calls us.” Ai pointed out with a hint of accusation Conan found it hard to understand how he and Ai get along well despite their constant debates that most people would not even understand. For him, she was his best friend, confidant, and the other person who faces the same problem as he. He thought of it as a natural occurrence that they got along well after a period of hostility and accusations after their first encounter. He realized that it had been a year already since they started calling each other by their first names even though they were just aliases. Conan pouted and whispered, “I guess she thinks that we are on first name basis already. She knows that you hate others calling you by your first name and that you almost never call others by their names.” He then gave her a mischievous grin and kept silent for the rest of the trip. Conan spent the rest of the trip in his soliloquies until they finally arrived at the campsite in Gunma Prefecture. The campsite was located at the foot of a hill. At their arrival they noticed that they were the only ones there but they brushed the thought aside. Naturally the boys and Hakase took out their bags and started to assemble the tent, and gathered fire wood for tonight while the girls assisted them in their jobs. They finished the job just a few a hours after noon and decided that they will do what they want to. The three kids were absorbed by the code Hakase gave them. The two teens left and went to the trail where Sonoko said that they will find cute boys. “Ne Hakase? Why can’t Conan-kun and Haibara-san help us with the code?” asked Mitsuhiko “You just don’t want us to find the treasure!” Genta bursted out Hakase just laughed and said, “Children, they can’t join because they helped me make the puzzle.” “Okay you two. You can leave now. I don’t want you to give them any clues now do we?” Hakase said while facing Conan and Ai “Haii!” They both said and sped up the hill. Conan’s POV We just walked around aimlessly until we found a small clearing atop the hill where we could rest. The vicinity was clearly impressive and would totally be a place to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature. It had a good view of the sky and the forest around, plus it was geographically close to their campsite. We just stared around the area. It was perfect. There were beautiful flowers around surrounding the clearing. The place was in total silence except for the beautiful melody crafted by the birds and the insects. We just spent the next few moments in silence until Ai decided to break it “Thank you Conan-kun” she said while giving him me of her rare smiles. I felt a bubbly and comfortable feeling inside me when I saw her smile. It was one of the sweetest smiles I have ever seen. I was really surprised by what Ai said because she rarely shows her gratitude and I was only able to mutter out, “Whaa…? What are you thanking me for?” “For convincing me to join this trip. Baka. I really needed to get out of the lab once in a while and I didn’t think that I would have taken a break if you didn’t bring me here.” She said. She was gleaming. It was a part of her that I rarely see. ‘So this is the real Ai. No scratch that. This is the real Shiho without the sarcastic remarks and the pessimistic attitude’ I thought. I just grinned and said, “That’s what best friends do right? You shouldn’t stress yourself much on the antidote you know. Your health comes first before that ok Ai?” Ai seemed deeply touched and quietly asked, “What about Mouri-san? Will you keep her waiting like this? It’s my fault that you are in this condition and I should fix it as soon as possible. I don’t mind sacrificing sleep either.” Sadness was evident in her voice. I didn’t know what to do. I really didn’t like seeing her in this state, broken down. What I did was done by impulse. Heck, I didn’t even know what I did and I finally realized that I gave her a warm hug and whispered to her ear, “Ai, you know that I don’t blame you for what happened to us. Our first meeting I might have but I did it on impulse and fear. I didn’t even now you then but my perspective changed when we got to know each other better. I learned that you love your friends and especially your family. To prove this you were forced to develop the APTX to save Akemi-neechan.” She didn’t say anything but she hugged me back. I wanted to comfort her and most of all I wanted her to feel loved. I know I would be a hypocrite if I tell her that I know exactly how she feels because I didn’t lose much from my encounter with the organization, I only got shrunk but Ai… She lost everything… Her family… Her freedom… I wanted her to have a better life so I will never leave her side “It’s ok Ai. I’m here. I swore to protect you and I always will” I said trying to convince her while using my thumb to wipe away her tears. “Thank you Conan-kun. I don’t know what I will do without you” She said softly before embracing me again. What she did next surprised me… She kissed me on the cheek. I blushed and managed to say,“Umm… It’s getting dark. I think we should get back before they worry about us.” Ai sighed and nodded. I stood up and gave her my hand which she accepted. We ran back towards the campsite never letting go of her hand. When we reached camp I saw Mitsuhiko sending death glares at me and Sonoko wearing an amused expression. When we noticed this we let go of each other’s hand. To tell you the truth I kind of missed her soft and warm hands holding mine. The rest of the night was uneventful. We ate dinner around the campfire and told stories. We finally felt tired and went inside the tent we were all supposed to share. We lined up all of our sleeping bags in 2 rows, one for the boys the other for the girls. I wasn’t able to fall asleep. I kept thinking of the afternoon I spent with Ai and it kept replaying over and over in my head. Realizing my thoughts, I felt a rush of heat on my cheeks. ‘Could it be that I’m falling for Ai’ I thought. ‘No, it couldn’t be. I am in love with Ran aren’t I?. “ “Ugh! I can’t fall asleep. I think I’ll go outside and get some fresh air to clear my thoughts. I took out a jacket from my bag just in case I stay there for a while. I went outside where the once burning campfire was and sat there. I sighed and thought, ‘Why can’t emotions be easily understood like cases? If that was so then I wouldn’t have problems right?’ I snapped out of my reverie when I heard somebody mumbling inside the tent. I rushed in there and went straight to the source. Ai’s POV “Finally I found you Sherry” said a deep and evil voice. I came from a man in black with long silvery blonde hair who was probably in his late 30’s. “Gin, let them go” I said in the coldest and most fearless voice I could muster up inside me while shooting him the deadliest glare I ever shot. Gin merely chuckled in amusement and said, “Why should I? you have escaped our clutch long enough and now I will kill all of those that helped you.” “You two, you know what to do right?” He asked his two companions. They nodded and pulled along several people tied up and looked very pale with fear. I saw them shoot everyone I knew. I felt bad about myself… It was my fault that they died I thought. Gin spoke up with a huge and scary grin on his face and said, “Now it’s time for the finale.” I saw Conan at gunpoint. Gin slowly pulled the trigger. I panicked and shouted, “NOOO!!!” “Bang!” He fell dead on the floor before her. “No! It can’t be happening! No, no, no!” I ejaculated nearly getting hysterical. I can’t bear to lose Conan. I started crying and thrashing around. “Ai! Wake up.” “Ai! Wake up.” “Ai! Wake up.” She heard a voice say. “Conan-kun!” she shot up waking up in cold sweat. “Ai what’s the matter? Are you having those nightmares again?” Conan asked gently I merely nodded “Let’s go out for a while. Fresh air might help you relax a bit” he said looking concerned for my well-being. I nodded and followed him outside and to my surprise he brought me back to the glade where we stayed last afternoon. We just sat there in silence and he decided to break it.. “Ai. Do you mind telling me about your nightmare? Just tell if you want to but if you don’t its fine.” he asked while gazing at me intently with his cobalt-blue orbs. I hesitated for a moment deciding whether to tell him or not but finally I decided to tell him everything. “It’s about Gin again. This time he was with two others. They killed everyone I met as Haibara Ai. I haven’t been dreaming about them for over a year now and I think that it’s a bad omen that these dreams are coming back again.” I said in a shaky voice. I absolutely know that my face has gone pale by now. He leaned closer to me and enveloped me with his arms again just like last afternoon and he lightly kissed me on the forehead and said, “Ai don’t worry about them. I won’t let them hurt you or anybody around us. Forget about them now. Jodie-sensei will help us you know.” He sure is arrogant I thought. He doesn’t know what the organization is truly capable of… how much devastation they can bring… but his optimistic attitude is what I like about him most. He is the light that brought me out of the dark clutches of the organization, he is the one that comforts me whenever I am sad and depressed, he is my confidant, the one whom I can truly rely on… He is the one that broke my mask. He is the only one that knows my true face. I constantly find myself comfortable around him. And finally he is the one person I can only love. I personally thought that I will never do but It changed when I met him. We stayed there and kept on hugging one another for who knows how long.(A/N: I know it's a bit cheezy and very cliche but oh well) Conan’s POV A surge of emotions flitted through me as I realized that I have her in my arms. I felt, happy that I was able to help her fell a little better but sad knowing how much she has been through. After a long time being frozen on that position I felt a weight on my neck and saw that Ai fell asleep. I slightly blushed. I thought about waking her up but she looked peaceful asleep so I decided that we would sleep here. I removed my jacket while also being careful not to wake her up. I draped it over her carefully laid her down on the soft grass. I kept her in my arms to keep I and her warm throughout the night and slowly without realizing it, I drifted to sleep.
