  1. @Anti-APTX4869 Hmm, maybe! Conan did make The FaceTM before he pretended to call Shinichi, and Sera seems to have noticed that, so I think that Sera has enough clues to figure out that Conan is Shinichi by now. Though I might be biased, since I'm so desperate to see the plot move forward, ha ha. @CrazyFanOfDC Apparently Heiji didn't notice, since he didn't know the normal term for "salty". Although, Kansai people don't usually call salt ramen "spicy" according to people who claim to be from Kansai on the 2chan board, but - Gosho did mention that he never has time to think of good cases anymore, so I guess that can't be helped. Maybe Gosho should publish biweekly instead of weekly? Anyways, it makes sense that the salt ramen wasn't spicy, now that I think about it - salt ramen aren't usually spicy, so if it was Kazuha would have specifically mentioned that it was, rather than just saying "salt ramen" without any adjectives. EDIT: Huh. According to one guy from the 2chan board, the suspects were named after a Family Restaurant chain named すかいらーく (Sukairaaku or Skylark) - Sugai Rakutoku is named after the Sukairaaku, Amakasu Tooru is named after a sub-chain named Gasuto (Gusto), and Toujou Sanpei after another sub-chain called Jonasan (Jonathan). Cool beans!
  2. Congrats, Detective Kudo! You were right on the mark! Dare I hope that Sera will stick around for the next chapter? She's been around for so long, but somehow I got a gut feeling that Sera might appear again in the next chapter. *Knock on wood, crosses fingers* Do more plot, Gosho! I'd forgotten how competitive Heiji could be - that was the whole reason he showed up at Mouri Detective Agency to look for Kudo, wasn't it? Heiji's ego seems even bigger than Shinichi's in this series, ha ha. I also thought that Heiji would be more careful about Shinichi's identity, since he assisted Shinichi in the Desperate Revival arc, but saying that Shinichi should get points off for "using that bizarre Kansai-ben" in front of Sera is rather careless, no? Dare I hope that Gosho is planning on Sera figuring out Shinichi's identity soon?!
  3. Well, I do hope that some of us will care. ^^; I think that the interviews are interesting, since you can see what Gosho prioritizes when he draws the manga - you also see the business side of drawing manga, which I think is valuable information. Besides, I think that the lack of info on Gosho's interviews over here is a serious problem. We can see the movies, the anime, the manga, and a lot of other things, but you can't really find the interviews anywhere. We keep hearing about spoilers about what the manga will be like in the future, but we can never get any evidence anywhere. I get frustrated with that, at the least. EDIT: Aaaand another one . . . The Kindaichi & Conan creators interview. That's all the raws that I have, aside from Conan Drill. This interview shows Japanese culture well, I think, as well as the priorities Gosho has when it comes to drawing manga. No real plot spoilers in this one, but it's a good read, I think. I've taken much more liberty with the translation this time around, in order to make the English a little more readable. Let me know if I've taken too much liberty, or if I've blatantly mistranslated, or something . . .
  4. DC, for me. CC is actually a cool title, but the dub gives me too much bad memories for me to like it properly . . .
  5. Ah, that was quick. I see, that makes sense. I forgot that the FBI (well, at least Akai) was interested in Sherry/Haibara, too.
  6. I hope this hasn't been thoroughly discussed already - Akai does a few strange things in the manga, and I wanted to ask what your takes are on why he did what he did. In Sato's Matchup case (File 329), Akai is seen leaving, apparently because 'it was the wrong person.' Akai was presumably checking up on Vermouth, since the FBI already knew that Vermouth was disguised as Araide at this point - my question is, why did Akai leave before Vermouth did? Why did Akai say that 'it was the wrong person', when clearly he knew back then that Vermouth was Araide? Also, at the end of the Bus Jack case (File 289), Akai says, 'February 23: due to unexpected circumstances tailing cannot be continued; the target did not appear, investigation will re-start later; that's all.' So Akai and Jodie were tailing Araide/Vermouth, right? But why did Akai say that 'the target did not appear'? Was the target someone else? Let me know what you think, because I can't make heads or tails out of this thing.
  7. Translated the Aoyama & Monkey Punch talk - this one doesn't really contain any spoilers, but it's an interesting read. http://www.detectiveconanworld.com/forum/topic/1555-translating-interviews/page__view__findpost__p__84943

Aaah sorry, I didn't notice that you left a comment! Sorry for the super late reply!

There aren't any new interviews that I've heard of, though apparently Gosho complained that Shinichi and Ran were too lovey-dovey in the newest live action drama. Personally I don't pay attention to anything outside the manga, so I don't know here you can watch the Conan vs. Lupin III show.

  8. Translated the Aoyama & Monkey Punch interview from 2009! Nothing about DC's plot is revealed, but interestingly enough Aoyama says that he ran out of ideas by the third chapter of DC and didn't think that the series would last past one volume ha ha. One interview down . . . As always, let me know if I made a translation error, or if the English is confusing.
  9. ^ In real life I think that would be true, but I don't think Aoyama knows all that much about computers. Besides, Itakura can be a system engineer for three different games just fine but somehow he needs good eyesight to do the program the BO wants him to do - so I don't think he would have mentioned that he needed good eyesight if he was going to develop some cracking program. I think that the program is CG-related, since Itakura quit doing CG work when his eyesight worsened (though I don't know if that would apply in real life). But then, I have no idea how the heck CG would threaten humanity, hmm.
  10. On second thought, "spicy" can mean "salty" in Osaka-ben, according to this website. Hmm, I don't know! Was the salt ramen actually spicy or is Amakasu actually from Osaka and meant to say "salty" when he said "spicy"?
  11. @Detective Kudo: Erm, about that - I googled around and apparently there really are spicy salt ramens out there. Sorry! *Begs forgiveness* I'll be sure to research more carefully before I say anything stupid the next time.
  12. I don't know about Itakura coming up with the project on his own, my impression was that the project was already present and someone asked Itakura to work on it but he declined due to his eyesight, then Tequila visited Itakura because Tequila thought that Itakura was working on the project. Maybe (Re-read the passage, mistook "abandoned" for "declined", guh) you're right and Itakura came up with the project more than three years ago then abandoned it three years ago due to his eyesight, then Tequila somehow found out about that project one year later and visited him . . . anyways, I guess this isn't really an important point in the first place. You're right that the program probably isn't a virus or whatever, since it seems that the BO didn't come up with the project . . . though if some company came up with the project, maybe that company was under BO's control, hmm. *contemplates* It would have been kinda cool plot-wise if it was a worm like Stuxnet or something, ha ha. Though that would probably make the FBI/CIA the bad guys rather than the BO, but - oh well. It's really weird to me that the program requires good eyesight, though. Itakura continued programming as a system engineer (google tells me that this involves coordinating different programs, though I'm not completely sure what the job involves), so he can program with poor eyesight. I tend to think that the program is CG-related - in this sense, your suggestion about the program being game-development-related makes sense. What doesn't make sense to me is that Tequila continued looking for different computer programmers when Itakura was already working on the program. Does that mean that there are different computer programs that the BO wants to develop? Or was Tequila trying to recruit all those programmers for a single program? Tequila was looking for software programmers, right? There's no way that the BO is trying to develop new hardware, right? Were all those software programmers from Mantendo? I can't remember - but the fact that Tequila asked the list of programmers from a Mantendo employee suggests that the program(s) really is/are related to games somehow, doesn't it? As in the program does something that gaming programmers would be required to know how to program, like you suggested? Hmm. EDIT: The list of programmers Tequila tried to obtain consisted of the most talented computer programmers all over the world, according to File 116.
  13. Oh, this chapter is way cool. Jodie didn't recognize Sera - does that mean that Sera and Akai lived apart, just like how Sayla Mass and Char Aznable lived apart? I wonder how far Gosho will take the Gundam references. I wonder what will happen next chapter? Will Conan use his watch and deduct through Kogoro around Sera? If he does will Sera notice something? As Stopwatch noted, Sera noticed that Conan solved the case without contacting Shinichi - will Gosho have Sera figure out Conan's identity and seriously pursue a love triangle between Shinichi, Sera, and Ran??
  14. Mod note: Please also see companion thread: Black Organization's true plan for info about APTX 4869 and other projects. Discuss the purpose of the computer program by Itakura here! Quick reminders about who Itakura was: Was hired as the system engineer for developing chess, shogi, and go games in File 377 Used to be famous for computer graphics - appear often in movie credits for special visual effects, appeared on TV for it Eyes got worse three years ago, hasn't done CG since and switched to developing systems Had contact with Tequila at his office two years ago, on March 7th Tequila expressed interest in a system software that was currently being developed - Itakura said that he declined developing that software due to his poor eyesight and Tequila left Itakura used transparent fonts to describe how someone kept breaking into his office on March 17th, and continued until January 6th of next year, when Itakura accepted to do what the BO wanted him to do Itakura contacted the queen-like woman over the phone on January 23rd last year - agreed to complete the system software within a year for high pay Itakura says on December 22nd last year that he can't develop that program, not only because he has poor eyesight, but also for the sake of humanity On February 10th this year, Itakura wonders what the BO will do with the software - he remembers the conversation with the queen-like woman; he says, "who do you think you are?" and the woman replies, "We are both the god and the devil - because we are trying to revive the dead against the flow of time" EDIT: Oh, one more thing; it seems that Itakura handed over an incomplete version of the software - does this mean that the BO is still looking for people to complete the software and hasn't used it yet? LOL I have no idea. It's funny that Itakura's wondering about what the BO will do with the software, when he's the one developing it, hmm. It also seems that good eyesight is somehow required for developing the software. I more or less put random ideas into the poll, since I honestly have no idea what the software could possibly be for, ha ha. This is slightly OOT, but I can't help but think that the whole angel-devil thing is a big pun somehow, though I'm not sure why. Apparently there's a cocktail named Fallen Angel, though I'm not sure if this is relevant to anything. So what do you think?
  15. @Chekhov Erm, I've never made a poll before, and I'm not sure what to write for the options, but I'll try. @Balthazar Yeah, they seem keen on getting the best talent around for their biomedical research and for programming. If the BO truly wants something immortality-related, I can understand the biomedical research, but I don't know how the computer program will accomplish immortality or whatever.
  16. I like this thread! I live for threads like this! I also wonder about the purpose of that computer program? Can we get a poll on that, too?
  17. @red.orchid - that's awesome, it's always better to have more translations, if only for the readers to see different versions and see for themselves if there are discrepancies and possible mistranslations.
  18. The drought has ended (at least temporarily)! This is the 11th consecutive file to contain plot! *Foams at mouth* I do wonder what the FBI has been up to since the last time we saw them? I hope that they dug up new info, or at least that Kir told something new to Jodie. And Sera appears again? This time she might interact with Camel/Kazuha/Heiji? Crazy! It's like Gosho wants Sera to figure out that Conan is Shinichi as soon as possible. Maybe Gosho really wants Ran to have a romantic rival? Gosho is crazy about romance . . . hmm.
  19. Erm, to those of you who state that DC is based on Sherlock Holmes, I'd like to mention that DC seems to be influenced by many mystery series - I'm sure that Sherlock Holmes has a huge influence, but if you just look at the characters' names, you see that Gosho is familiar with quite a lot of detective stories. For example: Edogawa Conan comes from Edogawa Ranpo, the author of Akechi Kogoro and Detective Boys series, and Conan Doyle (obviously) Mouri Ran seems to be a pun on Maurice Leblanc, the author of the Lupin series, as I mentioned in my previous post - Mouri may also be a pun on Moriarty, who knows. Mouri Kogoro comes from Akechi Kogoro, written by Edogawa Ranpo Agasa is named after Agatha Christie, of course Cafe Poirot is named after Hercules Poirot, obviously Detective Boys is named after the Detective Boys in Edogawa Ranpo's novels, as well as the Irregulars from the Sherlock Holmes series, it seems Edogawa Fumiyo seems to be named after Akechi Fumiyo, the wife of Akechi Kogoro So I wouldn't assume that DC's main plot will follow Sherlock Holmes, since Gosho clearly knows a lot of mysteries. In fact Edogawa Ranpo's influence seems to equal that of Conan Doyle's, from the names of the characters.
  20. I think I love you. *Votes up post* Although, I have to wonder - how did you calculate days passed? We can see the seasons rotating in the background, so if it wasn't for Gin saying that Akemi died less than a year ago in that one file that I can't remember off of the top of my head, then several years would have passed.
  21. Well, it's a pun, so if the two words sound alike then it's good enough. ^^; Puns don't need to be accurate to the letter.
  22. Coooool, we got a shot of Sera! Plot strikes again! It's funny that Sera decided to delete her copy (I think?) of the video - I wonder why?
  23. Hmm, on puns, apparently some Japanese fans think that Ran's name came from Maurice Leblanc, the creator of Lupin. Maurice Leblanc's Japanese is モーリス・ルブラン (Moorisu Ruburan), so Mouri might be a pun on Maurice, too. Still, as far as I know this is fan-speculation, so Mouri-arty is still possible. *shrugs*
