  1. Can you give the link, if your source is on the web? I've never heard of that, either, but it would be interesting if it was true.
  2. The maid looked at Conan weird . . . is this significant or am I reading too much into it? Hmm. EDIT: NVM! Sakurako was probably thinking about how the house has the same tiles as where the murder took place, duh!
  3. This is from 2chan, but - It's up to you to believe this or not. If you know Japanese well, see comments #445-#462 here.
  4. Going on a trip! May become quite inactive for two weeks . . .

  5. Aw, way cool! Yay for staying up late at night
  6. Quick question! Is there a thread somewhere here that discusses unresolved plot lines?
  7. ^ Well, to be fair, he said that he won't stop being a manga artist, not that he won't stop DC. ^^; Besides, this was way back in 2003 - since he's thought about retirement, I think that he's changed his mind by now.
  8. ^He adds fillers. Lots and lots of fillers.
  9. Interview in Conan Drill from 2003 translated! No spoiler on the plot here, though there are a lot of interesting tidbits. Note: I took a lot of liberty with the English this time, since I wanted to focus more on making the English sound natural and readable. I usually try to translate as directly as possible, but I realize that the weird English probably turns off a lot of people – let me know if I've taken too much liberty, though. Also, Gosho says a lot of things here that he mentions in future interviews, like how he was told to change Conan's name to Doyle since there was a work called Future Boy Conan, directed by Hayao Miyazaki. You kinda realize that interviewers keep asking the same questions, maybe because they don't bother looking over past interviews, ha ha. Highlights: The plot for conan was planned in two weeks Gosho is not "high-strung / neurotic" - he seems pretty laid back Apparently, in File 125~, the dude pays the gal to be his lover Gosho has an editor who is from Kansai, and looks at DC's Kansai-ben – this makes sense, I've read people on 2chan talk about how young Kansai people these days don't say "ame-chan" (Files 778-780), but since Gosho gets coached on Kansai-ben by an older guy, the Kansai-ben in DC is rather dated. Gosho has two younger brothers, one who's an engineer and another who's a doctor. The engineer helps Gosho with tricks related to cars, and the doctor helps Gosho with medicine-related topics, like APTX. The doctor is also an anime otaku who advices Gosho about which voice actor should voice whom. Gosho also seems to have connections who are former police detectives, people working at banks, CSIs, etc. Gosho decided when he started that Conan won't cry Gosho only draws characters with names, leave backgrounds and characters without names to assistants - does that mean that the forensics dude who wasn't Tomo-san in File 756-758 will become important someday?! Lol I dunno. Maybe you guys knew this already, but apparently Paikaru/Baiganer isn't a real brand of alcohol – the name comes from a character in Lupin III.
  10. ^ *Checks raw* The original Japanese was まさかな・・・, which would be closer to "No way!" than to "Hmm . . ."
  11. @heLLo GiGi I can confirm the wolf thing. I translated the interview where that passage came from with this raw, and DCFC translated it using their own raw (I think, based on their picture of the magazine that I've never seen before) - and I didn't have anything to do with the DCFC people, so you have two independent sources translating the passage the same way. Therefore, Gosho definitely refered to Haibara and Sera as "wolves".
  12. That. Makes. SO MUCH SENSE. Apparently one of the people who discovered this illusion was a Japanese professor back in 1995, so it also makes sense that Japanese people might know this illusion more than others! Very cool!
  13. Aaaah, that makes way more sense. *Gasp* MAYBE THE WALL ROTATES AND THAT'S WHY THERE WERE SCRATCHES ON THE WALL! Though that doesn't explain the floor, hmm. I personally took it as "Ah, Conan doesn't want people figuring out that he's Shinichi yet" - Conan tries to hide that even from Okiya, so that's what I figured. Though I'm wrong more often than not, ha ha.
  14. @Tsukiko: Ha ha don't worry, even I don't take that theory seriously. It's too early to tell right now, anyways. Personally I'm waiting for more clues - I'll be sprouting crazy speculation on the meanwhile, but I won't be taking any of them seriously.
  15. Hmm, obviously now is too early to tell, but who says you can't have fun speculating~ *sing songs* @User4869 Ha ha, me too. Look at where the whole I-hope-Sera-will-stick-around-in-this-chapter! thing got me. I do agree that the EYE thing is meant to be misleading, though! I have the same ~gut feeling~, ha ha. I wikipedia'ed that tea blend, actually, ha ha. Apparently it's not sold in the UK anymore, and it's actually some sort of Chinese blend originally. MAYBE THIS IS MORE CLUE THAT SERA'S MOTHER IS MRS. KINGSTON, WHO IS A ROYALTY IN WALES, WHO HAS A CHINESE RELATIVE?? Lol I dunno.
  16. ^ Yeah, that would be great! Thanks! Did someone translate it? EDIT: Is your link the same one as you posted on DCTP? If so, that's the OtonaFami magazine interview, not the Mystery Magazine interview.
  17. Just read the DCTP forum . . . One person raised a good point about the bloggers misquoting Gosho, that the actual phrasing might be , which is a good point. Grr, I hate not having access to the raw! All I can do for now is to get more sources and hope that the bloggers aren't misquoting Gosho.
  18. Huh. I was honestly joking when I suggested that Diana Kingston might be Sera's mother, but now you're starting to make me believe in that theory, too. It does explain a lot, doesn't it? Char and Sayla were adopted after their parents died, too - I wonder how James figures into all this? LOL James isn't somehow related to Mrs. Kingston, is he? I should move to that thread, too, ha ha - though who knew that James recognizing Sera as a girl would lead to all this speculation? I've always wondered why Gosho bothered making James be born in London, and now, after - what - a decade, I finally have a clue! Seriously, Gosho, don't ever do fillers anymore, I'm begging you! I've waited TOO LONG!
  19. Just wikipedia'd Sayla Mass really quick - she was the only daughter of Zeon Zum Daikun, the founder of the Republic of Zeon. So Sayla Mass was a kind of royalty - and Sera Masumi would be royalty if her mom was Mrs. Kingston, since Diana Kingston was some kind of royalty - THEREFORE SERA MUST BE MRS. KINGSTON'S DAUGHTER OMG, AND MRS. KINGSTON MUST ACTUALLY BE PART OF MI6/5/WHATEVER, THE BRITISH EQUIVALENT OF THE CIA!! Lol my imagination is running wild . . .
  20. You're welcome, everyone! I'm glad you guys enjoyed them, I was starting to think that I was wasting my time, ha ha.
  21. Ha ha, I was so uncertain about everything, though! I wish that I used more common sense. For PLOT, of course! (. . . I hope) On James Black, I just remembered something - why did Gosho bother having him be born in London and then be living in Chicago? And make him mention Al Capone? Don't tell me that the BO has alcohol codenames because the BO used to be some branch of Al Capone's gang? Why did the cover of the chapter where Sera first appeared have Conan wear jeans with the UK flag on it? What's Sera's relation to the UK? Did something happen in the UK? Is that where James met Sera, if he did?? Why does Sera keep mentioning that her mom has huge boobs? In Japan, the stereotype is that Western women have huge boobs - is Sera's mom British?? Hmm . . . EDIT: Just re-read File 325 - why did Haibara feel something out of James Black? Can she also detect the FBI or something? Or did James infiltrate the BO at some point? So many questions! EDIT2: Don't tell me, SERA'S MOM ISN'T MRS. KINGSTON, IS IT?? (Probably not, but if Ran knows Sera's mom . . . hmm.)
