  2. I have a thought for the trick for the locked room, but not sure who could pull it off (read: haven't thought of it). Most chain door locks are welded together, and it would take far more than a 7 year old and a teenage girl, no matter how much martial arts she does, to break apart a chain link like that, and with the positioning of the one that broke, I don't think it is a coincidence. The chain link in the middle of the opening broke, so my theory is that the culprit cut out a chain link, and then used another open link to close the chain up after the crime was committed from the outside. Depending on the gauge of the metal, it could have possibly been done without any tools. But this is just a possibility...
  3. Personally I think weekly anime episode discussion will occur regardless. People will find ways to watch it, either subbed or raw.

  4. The next two in order... I can't remember the numbers off the top of my head. And the second question doesn't have an answer... Its being evaluated. But I've said this before... I wouldn't get your hopes up...

  5. Wow I hit 300 reps... And I haven't even posted my CO analysis yet... didn't see that one coming...

  6. The problem is that they aren't filling the void because it's not profitable to them. When it is, like Naruto and one piece, they are very quick to fill the void. However quicker and more efficient groups in fan subbing make that difficult. It's a vicious cycle, but fan subbing does play an unfortunate role.

  7. And all of your possibilities involve combating a perfectly legal action with more illegal activity. Pardon me if I think that is wrong or crazy.
  8. That is the issue. You act like you are, just like every other fan that has tried to think of a way to get dctp to continue. At this point I'm done being nice and have since started to state it in such a way that is very clear and concise while trying not being rude. Suggesting further illegal action makes you seem like every other crazy fan despite what you claim, and thus I treat you the same. You realize that those that have suggested to buy the episodes, our contracting funi or other sane prospects have not been meet with such hostility. Why? Because they are thinking of legal solutions, not illegal like yourself.
  9. What you and alakton are saying ate completely different. What you say is correct, what alakton says is not. I don't know how to make myself clearer. And if I sound like I'm being harsh it's because I am. I've read too much from fans that only seem to care about themselves and how they are affected and not of the staff whom have real issues because of this. It is infuriating to hear all of the fans create different crazy schemes that won't work because their precious DC source is now gone. Alakton is wrong, you are right. End of story.
  10. No... Doesn't work like that. Creating a new group with the same people would be found out because of Mac addresses and IP addresses. That would be the best way for the staff members to be seen as dodging a legal request and to make matters worse, which would result in a harsher sentence. You are not anonymous on the internet. That is an illusion. You have to do a lot to become entirely anonymous. Which is a lot of trouble. Trying to use that pseudo anonymity to do illegal acts after being told nicely not to, would be really dumb and would not end well. Edit: I don't think you understand the legal situation. Everything you are suggesting would lead to worse consequences. I'm not sure you realize this but there are friends of DCTP whom are lawyers. And myself have been to school for science in a school designed for criminal justice and have taken courses in computer forensics as electives. I know more about this situation than you do. If that was not clear then I apologize, but what you are saying is wrong, plain and simple.
  11. What Alakton said was that we were banned only from distro and we could continue subbing if we used YouTube. That is in no way correct. What you say is though. Another group, unaffiliated with dctp, could sub it and distribute it until they get caught. That is not what alakton suggested though, end of story. DCTP is done. No scheme or method exists for dctp to continue.
  12. In order for that idea to work dctp would have to create a proxy with a fake IP, multiple in fact, that were untraceable. Then we would have to make multiple accounts for email and YouTube so that when one gets shut down we could use another. And we would be in a constant state of reuploading. Basically it's more trouble than it's worth. Edit: only dctp staff could do it. No one else has access to the episodes. Also there is still that whole cease and desist from funi, so if we are in any way implicated in subbing and the subsequent distribution, we get sued.
  13. That is still distribution, and they would still sue us. It doesn't matter how its done. Distribution is still distribution. And illegally obtaining episodes for subbing is still illegally obtaining episodes for subbing. There was no misunderstanding. Allow me to put it to you this way... DCW wasn't even hosting episodes and Funimation sent them a DMCA notice for the watch section. Those were ALL youtube videos or other site. Do you really think they would be more lenient with DCTP whom has already received a DMCA and was told to stop their activities? Really? Edit: Also... That is exactly what you implied by saying "strictly speaking, I think it just means DCTP can’t host Conan episodes anymore, but they could even keep subbing it themselves and distribute it in other ways." We cannot distribute in anyway, we cannot sub in anyway. Doing either will get us sued. End of story. We could sub for personal use, legally obtained episodes. But that wouldn't do anyone much good because only a couple of people would see it.
  14. Viz treats all non-Jump properties like junk, so I wouldn't want that to be honest. They still haven't released Naoki Urasawa's Monster on DVD or Bluray. They've only put it for streaming. They have only the first volume and that is it. I fear that American companies are starting to see Jump properties as the only real profitable properties. And unfortunately it is because of fansubbing. Unless people start using legal means of watching these shows like Hulu, Netflix and Crunchyroll and buying on a regular basis properties that these companies own, long running series like DC won't fair well.
  15. This is incorrect. Subbing DC in anyway is already breaking intellectual copyright laws. "Distributing it in other ways." Well... That has the word "distribution" in it. That is bad. There is no way to distribute it that wouldn't get us in trouble. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE. There is quite literally nothing we can do. We are already on their radar, so to speak. We are releasing the last two episodes we were working on and that is it. After that it is done and over with. It was a fun ride while it lasted. So strictly speaking, its over. If we even dare to do something, it is very likely that further action will be taken. Which would be very bad for us. This is all final. Please, do not try to work the system, there is no working the system in this case. If there was a way, believe me, we would know, and would have tried it. There isn't. Please everyone, try and accept this. Suggesting further illegal actions is only going to make things worse. Do you really want DCTP to come back, only to have the first court case of fansubbers against Funimation, in a legal battle we cannot win? With those involved fined heavily or possibly jailed? This may sound harsh, but STOP THINKING OF YOURSELVES AND YOUR "DC FIX" AND THINK OF THE POSITION THOSE WHOM ARE ACTIVELY INVOLVED ARE IN! THIS IS NOT A GAME AND THERE ARE REAL CONSEQUENCES!
  16. A very very slim chance. Basically the license would have to expire from Funimation and TMS not care about fansubbing. And of course the staff all still be around when that happens. However, remember, there is a chance that this happened at the request of TMS, so if that is the case, then it's never coming back ever.
  17. As I've said, its fine to be angry, upset, or even frustrated over this turn of events. But realize it was going to happen sooner or later... And you can air out your frustrations, but don't place blame on FUNi as it isn't their fault that we broke copyright law, quite knowingly I might add. If you want you can contact FUNi, and respectfully request they give DC the same treatment as they do One Piece and simulcast it. But I stress the "respectfully" part. Being mean or venomous to them serves no good, and only makes this community and fandom look bad, and that helps no one. Basically support FUNi, don't blame or hate them.
  18. HAHA! I've graduated!

  19. Hello DCW, I'm not sure if you have heard the news, but due to DMCA filing (the very same filing that ended the Watch section here) DCTP has been asked to cease and desist the translation and distribution of the Detective Conan anime by Funimation Entertainment. We loved doing it over the years, but all good things must come to an end. Now, before I link to Jd-'s official statement over at DCTP, I want to make my position, and what seems to me, the general position of DCTP as a whole very clear... FUNimation was just doing their job in protecting THEIR copyright and distribution rights for Detective Conan. THEY are not at fault, WE ARE! In subbing Detective Conan, we were technically doing something ILLEGAL. Please do NOT hate Funimation for this. And certainly do not do anything against Funimation, including sending hate mail or anything of the sort. Please DO support them and their property. Over at DCTP we are VERY CLEAR of that. And I for one, as a staff member of DCTP, will treat any negative ACTION (even if spoken and not serious) as a serious transgression both on the forums and in the DCTP cbox. You are free to air frustration, but the second you start creating a negative image of this community as a whole, you are ONLY DOING HARM, and it will be treated as thus. This is what Jd- had to say about it. On behalf of DCTP, we thank you for your support, and it was fun. Best, Kyuu PS: YES, Manga WILL continue. Viz has not done the same, but please do not be surprised if they do. However it is LESS likely as we encourage the purchase of the Viz manga on our main site and do not distribute back issues. Also, we do NOT know how this will affect the Movies or OVAs, but it is likely that they will be affected similarly. However that is in current discussion and we do not know. PLEASE DO NOT ASK US!
  20. Man... you people don't read my posts do you...? Proof of Ran hitting Conan. She did it once off panel, end of story. This is the third time I've posted this image.
  21. They do know about this site. It's why there was a DMCA request for the videos. The issue is that obtaining rights for broadcast is very tricky, and there is a bit of red tape to get through to make it happen.
  22. The question is not whether or not she HURT him, but rather if she ever STRUCK him. To which the answer would be "yes" according to that panel.
  23. I stated this in the ideas and suggestions thread that you posted in. DCW is trying to maintain total legality here. I think you are thinking that you can just play the OSTs and OPs and EDs without consequence. This is not so. Even Spotify, which had no issues in Europe was attacked when it first came to the states. Basically, you need to gain the rights to each song, each radio station has different methods to gaining the rights to play their music choices over air, and there are several avenues. So in order for this idea to work you would have to get the permission from the respective rights holders for internet broadcast. A lot of services I know of only do it in a day to day basis as well... so you have to send song requests to get cleared the day of broadcast...
  24. To keep something like that legal, which DCW likely wants to do, there are a lot of hoops to jump through, and some red tape.
  25. Custom Titles work fine. I personally can't think of a ranking system for DC that works without deviating between good and evil, which in my opinion doesn't work. And the only reason to have them would be ranking title images. The custom title system works and it gives people to choose what they want when they have reached sufficient amount of posts. Also, I've seen title ranking cause more problems as people tend to want to spam more to gain the title they want. At least with custom title that number is limited to 500.
