Vicky 1 Report post Posted February 20, 2011 Hey everyone! I’m Vicky and I’ve been watching DC since....well, it came on Cartoon Network years ago. xD. I’m a student of Multimedia Design for Web Design (with one more semester left ;D), a Role Player, and I’ve been looking to get active on DC communities for some time. ;D It’s definitely great to find some active ones around with it being such an unknown fandom! (>_> Seriously, almost everyone I know hasn’t heard of DC. ;_; It’s depressing.) ; My favorite DC characters are Vermouth, Kaito, Haibara, Yukiko, Akai Shuuichi and Jodie. >3 Also, some of you might recognize me on other forums with the same name. ;D Just sayin’ in advance. XD. Nice meeting you all!

I can sympathize with being busy. ;_; I’m waiting or a job interview within the next few days and I have no idea how that’s going to screw up my schedule if I get it. >_> But definitely feel free to drop by and chat, yeah? ;D

Maurice 274 Report post Posted February 21, 2011 Hey Vicky! Welcome to DCW! I also believe I've seen your name on a few different forums. But yes, you're definitely in the right place here. Everyone here knows DC for sure haha! I quickly read a bit about the game you made but I'm not sure I completely get it. Do you like need to register for a character from the series and stick with it then interact with other characters on the forum? Anyway, it's really interesting to see ideas like that around the DC world. Always inspiring and it's great for fans! Enjoy your time here!
Vicky 1 Report post Posted February 21, 2011 yep, i sure do, lately cartoon network has had some pretty dumb shows that loses my interest. well anyway happy to meet you. Yeaaah. I haven’t watched Cartoon Network since the good ol’ days primarily for that reason. ._. To answer your question Maurice, the game is a Role Playing game, which is a collaborative form of fan fiction. An applicant applies for a character and it can be either a canon or an original character they created, to which they’d fill out a character sheet with information about their character. Once the characters are “approved” a player can start Role Playing with them on the forums and interact with other characters, in a similar way to fan fiction ‘cept you’re technically only “controlling” the characters you’ve created/applied for. The game has an out of character section which players can interact with other players and not as their character. I hope that makes sense. xD. But anyway, I use this name on several forums (because I’m uncreative when it comes to “online aliases” and simply stick to my own name. XD.) >_> so yeah. If you see this name on a DC forum, chances are it’s me. XD. Thanks for the welcome. >
Maurice 274 Report post Posted February 22, 2011 Yup, it does make sense. Very interesting concept! Did you release the game a while ago? I guess the challenge is to have people coming back to play cause I guess you can't have two or more Shinichi, Ran, (etc..) and if Shinichi or Conan (or other key characters) never shows up, it might not end up feeling too much like being in the DC universe. xD But I wish you luck cause I believe it's awesome to innovate like that and be creative. ^^ I'm also working on a web-based game around the detective world (avoiding the DC name to avoid copyrighting issues). Vicky 1 Report post Posted February 22, 2011 Mysterious is actually a month old, but it’s the rebirth of an older game with only two players that actually returned from its previous incantation. The rest of them are new players. ; And actually, that’s the whole fun of playing. >3 You’re technically breaking the DC world and with the way the game is setup, it doesn’t rely too much on absent canons to move forward. xD. I mean, in one thread we’re working on we just had Kaito meet Vermouth, Gin and Vodka for the first time (with other things planned that possibly wouldn’t happen in Gosho’s verse as we’d call it), while our Shinichi hasn’t popped up yet and a murder’s about to happen. >3 It might sound like it’s not set in the world without an active Conan/Shinichi, but considering we have new “detectives” and with plots that don’t necessarily require his participation, it’d give other characters an opportunity to shine too. xD. It’s just a matter of getting creative and not relying too much on them. ; And thanks! ; We’re hoping it lasts, too. Also, I don’t think it’d be in violation of copyright laws if it was actually set n DC’s world/with DC characters. Oo; From what I recall from way back when, someone created a fan made game based on Sailor Moon that was an RPG (downloadable SNES video game) and they didn’t get into trouble for it. o_o; Because man, if that was a violation, Mysterious probably would have been shut down when it opened. xD. Yeah, I guess you have a point there. It's a unique world all by itself. The only thing that's common to DC are the characters hehe. Once again, nice idea. As for the copyright issues, yeah, it could work out but I just don't want to take the risk. Actually, if you wanna know, the reason the Watch section is currently down is a bit due to copyright issues. :/ More information here: Good luck with college btw! Which designing tools and/or programming languages are you using/learning?
Vicky 1 Report post Posted February 23, 2011 Pretty much, in addition to the Black Organization and APTX, but aside from that, it could be considered an original world. XD. Actually, I never knew this place had a section to watch episodes. xD I’d usually browse the wiki or the forums, but when I saw the “watch” section I was like “o_O; what’s this supposed to be?” and didn’t bother clicking. XD. But that’s odd and I’m surprised the DMCA deals with Japanese animation. Then again, they just recently began dubbing it in the states….but for episodes that aren’t released in the states? It’s odd. ._.; And thanks! XD. I’m actually on my second semester with one left (cramming your usual four years of college into one and a half, which is sort of the reason I’m a “full-time student”) and I’m studying Adobe products primarily for my interest in Web Design. Right now I’m certified in Photoshop and Dreamweaver (ugh, I loathe Dreamweaver with a passion), and I’m working my way on learning Adobe Flash among other programs in the Creative Suite. I’m learning PHP on the side (or trying to when I have the time XD), but I’ve been working with HTML and CSS for almost a decade. And thanks for the welcome, guys. Aeyra 260 Report post Posted February 24, 2011 Hola Vicky! You do role-playing? I've never actually done that before... Probably don't have time for it either. I'm too young to be of the 'Cartoon Network' DC fans, like, I'm only in middle school and I wasn't really allowed to watch TV (not cartoon network at least) in elementary, and my mom 'disapproved' of violence. I guess murder mysteries count. *shrug* I hope to see you around the forums! Drop in on my stories sometime! They're in the fanworks section.... As well as one of my drawings.
