justwantanaccount 125 Report post Posted July 31, 2011 Monster by Naoki Urasawa (AMAZING thriller, characters are really well developed, I also love Germany for some reason) NANA by Ai Yazawa (PLS UPDATE YAZAWA MY GODDESS - amazing character developments, and the romance is very original - best shoujo I've ever read in my life.) Adventure Boys by Adachi Mitsuru (Consists of some very pure and heartwarming stories, the art is adorable and I love how Adachi/his assistants draw(s) the backgrounds) PLANETES by Makoto Yukimura (Excellent sci-fi, I learned a lot about space from here, very realistic) And last but definitely not the least, Detective Conan by Gosho Aoyama - when I was younger, I went for the romance above all else, but these days I'm more interested in mystery-solving, especially trying to figure out the main plot line. Lia. 45 Report post Posted August 14, 2011 My Top 5 Anime/Manga 5. Digimon (Anime) I remember watching the episodes where strange creatures appear from the computer. And I love the names that they give these creatures: (朱古力兽、软糖兽) which translates to: Chocolate 'monster' Marshmallow 'monster' I also love this scene: (translated from Mandarin) Grandfather: 'There are no such thing as Digimon.' Character: 'Then how about this one?' *points at his own digimon* G: 'That? That's a dog!' C: 'But won't that make my digimon a dog that has the ability to talk?' G: 'This is the century where there exists talking dogs.' LOL! 4. Pokemon (Anime) My first VCD had these episodes: (basic summary) - the one about an Abandoned Charmander - something about a Squirtle Squad - a ponyta which evolved into a rapidash during a race at a safari or something When I got older, I began to collect and watch Pokemon DVDs Pokemon 4Ever (Celebi and Suicune) Pokemon: Heroes (Latias and Latios) Latias <3 Ash Pokemon: Destiny Deoxys (Deoxys) Pokemon: Wish Maker (Jirachi) I can't remember any more at this moment... might edit the list later. 3.Black Jack (Manga) A wonderful manga. I was given this as a birthday gift (I think) by a friend who knew that I was 'obsessed' with Detective Conan. I only have the first volume~ I wanna read more!!! Tied as 1 Kaichou wa Maid Sama (Anime + Manga) Anime/Manga about a brilliant girl who is Student Council President of her school. Supports theme of 'Girl Power' Why is she brilliant? - First girl student-council president (being in a school made up of 80% guys and 20% girls) - Takes part time job to pay off her family's debt and bills <--- kinda the point of the entire series - Topped the grade for her examinations (Academics) - Very good at Sports/Athletics too - Popular among all of the girls in her school - Liked by the coolest guy in school: Usui - Considered a role model - Adored by her younger sister Suzuna - She has VERY strong Determination AND Willpower - she DOESN'T GIVE UP WITHOUT TRYING. That's not all about Ayuzawa Misaki. She also brought a lot of changes to her school and upped her school's rep. Awesome story. Read the Manga, Watch the Anime. Detective Conan/Case Closed (Anime + Manga) You guys know what this Anime/Manga is about... after all, this is Detective Conan World. Since this is the Manga section, I'll give two more mangas that I've read and enjoyed: 1. Special A 2. (Does this count?) Magic Kaito
Kim-Chan 41 Report post Posted August 24, 2011 1.) Detective Conan ( I really hope I don't need to explain this .. ) 2.) DN Angel (Lovable characters and just plain awesome~! Oh, and the manga is better than the anime) 3.) Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles ( Mind-blowing awesomeness in the ending. The whole this is spectacular, wonderful plot twist) 4.) Fruits Basket (I have a soft spot for this one, my first anime/manga ever) 5.) Pokemon/PocketMonsters SPE ( Thousand times better than the anime. Much darker and better chracters by FAR) I usually watch the anime first then the manga so I can enjoy both so I don't read many until I finish the naime first.(because we all know the manga tends to be much better and I usually start disliking the anime after I read it ^^U) Err, some other favorites: Cardcaptor Sakura Skip Beat Inuyasha Kaichou wa Maid-sama Magic Kaito Ranma 1/2 Kobato xxxHolic

yk100 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2011 Well here goes nothing... Detective Conan - it has detectives, romance, and a whole lot of mysteries!!! Magic kaito - it has kaito kid, and mischief... Detective academy Q - I happened to find this because I was desperate to find another manga to read and then.... Mysteries, secrets, and comedy, thats what I found Chinpui - OK this sounds weird but when I was a kid ( although I still am one ) I had nothing to read, so I read, reread, and re-reread ( is that a word?) these two mangas in a series called chinpui. It's about a monkeyish alien from space that has these superpowers ( I sound like a nerd....) and try to convince this girl to marry this king from outer space. Although 1. She likes somebody 2. She has never met him and 3. She's only like 12 And finally.... Ouke no monshou - (it's a little to mature for me but oh well) it's about this girl and shes in Egypt, and she gets a curse and gets sent back in time during the reign of pharaoh menphis. It's a romance manga......

blue-y 1 Report post Posted December 5, 2011 1. BASARA: it tells of an epic adventure. 2. MARS: the love story is just different than other 'shallow' love stories. It goes beyond that. 3. HANA YORI DANGO: I love the plot, and how the character develops over time. It is slightly different than the dramas, although the j-drama is also real good! 4. SAIUNKOKU MONOGATARI: for me, it consists of the perfect combination - historical setting (imperial times) + a bit of politics + a bit on societal structure (nobility, roles of women etc) + a tad of romance + a lot of pretty, likable, unique characters. 5. SWAN: a beautiful tale of the world of ballets and ballerinas. 6. THE BRIDE OF THE WATER GOD: interesting plot (though one must follow closely to not get confused), and the artwork is simply breathtaking. There are a few more on my favorite list though, but these are just 6 of them.
