When he's on a leave, he meets Savannah, a mountain girl (a bit cliche :V). They fall in love and Savannah promises to wait for him until his service is over. They send each other letters and wait hopefully, John visiting Savannah whenever he can. Their bond is strong...until 9/11 happens and John must choose between his country and love.
