Nice job saving Nero Aeyra! \o/ Good job with your part too. B)

Thanks. The harder Moho tries to kill him, the harder I'll try to keep him alive. Which I can, with artistic license! Mwahahahahahaha! I think that's what it's called... *thinks* Nero shall not die! He is awesome! (and I shall be as protective of him as Ari. :P)

Oh, is this a challenge?

I come back from the dead too. :P Remember that time you shot me in the head? But it's not a challenge, because there's only so many times you can try to kill a person and still make it sound not cheesy. And you wouldn't be able to confirm his 'death' right now until after your jaunt in the helicopter (and Ari and Kei are armed!) so Nero is safe! And he'll come up with a plan! Write, Moho! I wanna write more about Nero!!

Should I write? Maybe yes...

-- -- --

Rod cell phone vibrated and he picked it up.

"Hello?... WHAT?! They are gone?! Are you trying to say I have driven all the way from NJ for nothing?!" He shouted. After a little silence he hung up, muttering: "I understand, I still have this Joker card in my hand. When I have that, no one will stop me..." He glanced quickly Tsukiko who still slept behind him and smirked.

"It's about the time... Three more hours left."

~~~
Tsukiko frowned. She had managed to find somekind of order to the mess of memories inside her head but there were some pieces missing. And some pieces that were manipulating that order.
She was almost awake and her eyes were halfly open. "I see... So that's how it was... So that was the truth..." She mumbled.
-- -- --
Okay, time to wake up soon! Can't wait!
"Nero, sweetie, feel better?" asked Ari, swinging her legs as she sat on the edge of his bed. "They managed to get all of that poison out of your bloodstream. It would have killed any normal person, but lucky you got all those resistance shots as a kid, right?"
"Sure," muttered Nero, rubbing his head, yawning. "So, what's the story? Did you rescue my friends yet?"
"Kei's on it. You know he can handle it. A helicopter, three people to save-"
"Four," corrected Nero. "We picked up a... stray if you know what I mean."
"Hm? Why?" asked Ari curiously.
"She was part of that memory flashbomb prototype test group, so we knew her. She's nothing too special, but she's still learning."
"I see." Ari looked out the window, putting on a pair of tinted glasses. "Kei's got them."
"Hm? Is he using those again? The stealth wings?"
"As always. Those are his favorites. He's set up an ambush on the ground too. Those anti-Organizationists stand no chance. Kei's the world's number one assassin." She smiled, looking out fondly.
"You're blushing, sis," teased Nero, falling back into the familiar family cadences of the past. "You should just tell Kei you like him."
"I don't! He's just annoying. You're the reason I even bother to put up with him," pouted Ari, looking away.
"Then I have no idea how you survived the last three years. By the way, do you have my-"
"Coffee, yes. I got you a pumpkin spice Frappochino- you need to try something new." She picked the large off the floor and handed it to him. "You need some variety."
He rolled his eyes, sipping up the caffeinated beverage with joy. "Thanks, even if it isn't as great as mocha with chocolate, caramel, whipped cream, extra-"
"Shut up," said Ari playfully, poking Nero in the side. "Stop whining."
"I'm not whining. I'm lamenting over how much better our reunion would be if I just had one extra large mocha Frappochino with chocolate and caramel and whipped cream-"
"I'm not falling for the puppy eyes." Ari pointed her chin up and looked away. "They are not-" Nero started to stick out his lower lip and had an even more startling resemblance to a begging puppy. "Fine. You win."
"Yay! I knew they'd work."
"Hm?" Ari's phone rang. "Oh Kei, mission completed? You crashed the helicopter? Oh, you jumped out with a parachute while managing to keep everybody from smashing their heads against the cement. Lovely. Just get back here after making sure all of those enemies are dead. See you later, Kei!"'
"Just tell him you like him already," sighed Nero, smiling.
"Shut up, Nero! He was joking, Kei, joking." She put down the phone. "The call wasn't over yet!"
"Why do you think I said it?"
"You are an insufferable brat just like always."
Nero just smiled.
****************
Ari's like his family, so he's pretty happy to see her again. Kei is someone he trusts, so he knows everybody is safe. Therefore, Nero is happy. (I mean... I gave him coffee... Nero deserves some coffee.)
"Now. How was that imitation?"
"Just perfect. Stealth wings...pssh. You could hear those from a mile away. And they sure as hell didn't stand a chance against a machine gun. By now, that's guy's dead for sure."
The teen laid back on the seat. "Kei...the number one Organization assassin. What a joke. They already forgot about me. How standards have fallen."
The pilot turns around. "Whoa, wait. I think I heard of you during my time in the Organization."
The teen smirked. "Yup, that's me. The legendary Rex, with over 4,000 people killed within a year's time. Of course, all untraceable. Only that Mark had more kills on his record, with 6,700, and he did that in 3 years time. Mind you, some of those kills were very sloppy."
The pilot turns back around, obviously shocked.
Rex kept that arrogant smirk on his face. "Hell, even if the whole Organization came after me, they'd all come home bruised...or dead."
The other teen in the back quirked, "For someone so all that, you let Nero be rescued."
Rex merely shook his head. "That poison I gave him wasn't any ordinary poison that can be pumped out of the blood. It has a hundred percent chance of killing the subject. You know why? That poison is a two hit combo. One, obviously, attempts to deprive the body of oxygen. The other is the real punch line, if you pardon my saying so. The poison reprograms every blood cell in the target's body that's currently present and will be created later to self-destruct in 24 hours. This damage is unrepairable. Which of course, makes it so that even if the blood is replaced, new "bad blood" takes its place. And best of all, no resistance shot in the world can prepare for it."
He then leans forward, and says to the pilot: "Switch to jet mode, please."
The pilot wordlessly presses a few knobs on the controls, then pulls a hidden lever back all the way. The helicopter shuddered in the air as wings grew out of the sides, the rotor was moved backwards, and engines deployed from the newly created wings.
"Lift up."
And the helicopter turned jet soared into the sky.
A/N: Think Rex was easy to kill? Think again. Now Kei's dead. Like Rex said, even the whole Organization isn't a match for him. So...what you gonna do now?
***********
It was always to have one or more decoys running around. Kei watched from a safe distance as the helicopter crashed, smirking. Oh that Rex. Their clashes were always tests of who was able to finally outfox the other- it usually got to the point where neither knew what they were supposed to do anymore.
With the bug on his fallen double, he could make out the words of Rex, about Nero's poisoning. He frowned, recording it and sending it off to the base. At worst, Nero would just need to get his blood replaced. Nothing he hadn't gone through before. Fatal poison? As an ardent coffee drinker, Nero had had the beverages poisoned at least a dozen times, one of which actually made him clinically dead, but he'd been revived. The doctors could handle it.
He knew Nero's friend's were already being transported back to the base- in a government vehicle too. A bit of cash, some threats, and even the most stubborn politicians caved right in. If this rebellion was going to attack, they risked killing countless civilians and making themselves national enemies. He was sure they didn't want their existence broadcast to the world.
Kei looked back, catching a glimpse of the dead, glassy glare of his decoy, unflinching as he observed the corpse. He narrowed his green eyes, throwing something into the air, putting on goggles as he hopped onto his bike. Stealth wings? Well... He'd have to have an upgraded version made. One that made less sound and preferable made him invisible. It's destruction gave him the long awaited chance to present his personal blueprinted stealth wings to the engineer.
Behind him, the bomb blasted a crater into the earth, sandstorm-like conditions blasting around Kei's face. He was entirely unaffected by the dust and debris battering his hair, bike, and skin. The sound of the helicopter exploding once more filled the air. Hopefully he'd managed to scrape Rex at the very least. Though that sneaky fox had probably already gotten away.
"Oh, Nero..." he sighed, brushing a tan shock of hair out of his emerald eyes. "Why is it that whatever you do you always manage to bring this kind of trouble with you?"
**********
"I'm back!" called Kei, walking into Nero's room. "Your friends are over in the next few rooms. They should wake up in an hour or so."
"Nero needs his rest!" hissed Ari, cradling Nero's head gently against her. "He just had like- half of his blood drained because of that poison. Don't touch the IVs! Do you want to kill him?"
"Of course not. I'm his right hand man." Kei carefully sat down, brushing Nero's hair back behind his ear. "And he's my little brother too."
Ari rolled her eyes, smiling. "It's good to have him back." She rubbed Nero's hair, ruffling the stray locks. "We missed you, Nero. Both of us."
Even though he couldn't hear, Nero's lips formed the trace of a smile.
********
