DrWhoAR 0 Report post Posted June 26, 2011 Hi All, I recently joined the forum. I've seen a number of the TV episodes (up to about 208 now), and several of the animated movies. I'm curious, what are the OAVs? Also, what's all the chatter about live-action stuff? Have there been live-action shows or movies? Thanks for any info you can give - I'm anxious to learn all I can! Anti-APTX4869 181 Report post Posted June 26, 2011 Hi, welcome to DCW! Enjoy your stay while at it! People call me Cure-kun, because my user name is painful to write... There are lots of people to meet and lots of people to talk to. We have all sorts of things and you will see what I mean. *Ahem* Administrator and Moderators I don’t know much about them but here is what you need to know. All of them are very friendly and cool! They are all awesome! -Maurice is the Administrator and the creator of the website! -CarpetCrawler is one of the three moderators. He manages the DCW’s facebook account with Maurice. -Chekhov MacGuffin is one of the three moderators. Chekhov is the scholar of all things Conan, who know everything about Detective Conan. -SouthPaw is one of the three moderators. I don’t know much about her. I don’t know if I have met her;; IdentityUnknown She is one of the most mysterious and popular member in DCW. She is not dangerous, just mysterious. I guess this quote perfectly fits her well. “A secret makes a woman, a woman.” -Vermouth Aeyra She is very friendly. She posts a lot of her fan fictions and her drawings. Her FanFics are very fun to read, and she draws very well too! She is very good at Math as well . Misaki-chan One of the friendliest member who gives hugs and cyber treats to anyone! Prepare to get hugged when you see her! Akakata Her name changed. It used to be Chelseaj500, but she chose to change it. So when you see Chelsea, Cheleaj500. CJ-chan, etc, it is her. She is very fun member. She laughs a lot, so you should get used to that as well!! OHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHO!! That is common for her to say. She is best described as the most insane person, or the craziest person, but she prefers insane to describe her. Her stories are fun as well. Detective Kudo The deduction maniac! He is very good as deductions. I get jealous, but at the same time I admire him and his deductions. Forever Lost She is an awesome member to meet. There is another awesome member who is too busy to get on DCW anymore. Mohorovicic He is one of the most popular members in DCW. He was fun and he was like a brother to me, even though we barely talked to each other. He said he will visit someday. Very Important Information from IdentityUnknown: Member TItle: 0 posts --> Newbie 5 posts --> Member 30+ posts --> Advanced Member 500+ posts --> Whatever you want (as long as it's appropriate). As you see, a lot of us have things like "DCW's Best..." "DCW's..." etc. 500 posts may seem like a lot, but if you put time and effort into it, you can get there really quickly (I'm a prime example of that, got there in, um, 4 days). Reputation: Reputation is a representation of how popular the member is (or sometimes, how good their posts are). As Mohorovicic says, To give someone a rep, click the green + at the bottom-right of their post. You can only rep 5 times a day, only rep a post once, can't rep yourself, etc. And for your questions... OVA is Original Video Animation. It's kinda like a side story Live action is like a Cosplay thing. Pretty much it's not really related, but it's fun to watch. 3 Live actions, 11 OVAs, and 15 Movies. Southpaw 61 Report post Posted June 26, 2011 OVAs are usually regular-episode-length stories... the thing they have in common is that they went straight to home video without being aired on TV there have been three live-action specials so far, two with a particular cast, and one with a different cast... there is also a live action series starting in July, which will have the same base cast as the third special in addition to the animated series, movies, and OVAs, there are also magic files. the first magic file did not contain any new content - it was simply a collection of prior episodes, which were able to be tied to movie 11. every magic file after that collected old cases, but also included a new story specifically related to movie 12, 13, 14, 15, respectively

DrWhoAR 0 Report post Posted June 30, 2011 Cool, thanks for the info. With the live-action stories, were they all with the teenagers?
Southpaw 61 Report post Posted June 30, 2011 Cool, thanks for the info. With the live-action stories, were they all with the teenagers? the first and third one were, but the second one included Shinichi and Shiho as children... although they turned back (and later reverted) over the course of the story. So as not to goof it up too much, Takayama-san and Hayashibara-san dubbed over the two child-forms' voices, respectively. the first live-action ran right up to the beginning of the animated series, so we did see the Detective Boys from the back and heard them dubbed over as well. I personally anticipate the upcoming series not including any of the children... they probably got a really negative reaction for doing what they did in the second special
