Metantei Kiddo 147 Report post Posted August 1, 2011 double posting is a violation of DCW rules(I think )
Last Wizard of the Century 0 Report post Posted August 1, 2011 Hehe~ Nice job Shiho chan Yep Last Wiz! Try to use the MultiQuote Button instead of multiposting! If you still have trouble, you can ask anyone here! Welcome to DCW! We're all willing to help. Don't double post, press multiquote for all of them and then press the large Reply button at the very bottom. If you double post, I will be very sad. YOU MONSTER! LOOK AT WHAT YOU DID WITH YOUR MULTIPOSTING! YOU HAVE MADE MOHO-CHAN SAD! But seriously... double posting is universally bad on any forum. Use multiquote, edit, or whatever method you wish for avoiding it. Btw, since I am a DCTP spy, I never make it into any long introductions... I am not here, I am a ghost. Despite this, I shall welcome you, and alert you to the sniper on the ridge who will open fire if you double post again. Welcome and enjoy your stay. PS: If you see the glint of a scope, just ignore it Geez you don't all have to tell me, once would have been sufficient and you don't have to be so extreme about it. I'm sorry, obviously I'm new and I didn't know. I'm still not sure what you mean by double posting. If you're saying I have to reply to everyone on different subjects in one post that just seems silly. I've been on many forums and never had the problem before as long as the posts are on different subjects or to different people. Just from introducing myself I have gotten a lot of negative or snarky comments prior to this and now because I don't understand your rules yet I feel like I'm being attacked. I just came here to talk about our common interest in Detective Conan but I'm not feeling very welcome....

I just came here to talk about our common interest in Detective Conan but I'm not feeling very welcome.... Hey come on, you're very much welcome here. Welcome! (Yeah, I know how it feels when 'nobody' is welcoming you) These guys are all very kind, really. And don't worry, I ended up double-posting, too...maybe thrice coz internet here wasn't working so well, but (fortunately) I survived.

I just came here to talk about our common interest in Detective Conan but I'm not feeling very welcome.... Hmph, I suppose my sarcasm wasn't laid on thick enough... I'll try harder next time. Also, not to be mean, but honestly... the way forums are designed, double posting will always be on the same topic, lest one is OT, which is generally also looked down upon. I'm not sure what forums you have been on so I don't know the rules, but I'm active in 4 and follow 3 others, and all of them look down on double posting (and over the years I have been on several others). It is generally seen as a way to increase post count which isn't cool. I don't mean to make you feel unwelcome, but I feel obligated to respond to your reply in a proper manner. You are new so its alright, but please learn from this. PS: You are not being attacked, trust me... I've seen attacks on other forums, and a bunch of people telling you not to do something which is against the rules of the forum is not attacking. If anything it is concern for you to not get on the bad side of moderators, especially since it is clear that you did NOT read the rules that are at the top of every forum section... Here... I'll C/P it for you and bold the portion about double posting. Remember ignorance of the law does not excuse you. From Maurice: "The following is a list of rules to be observed at all times on these forums. The goal of these rules is to make sure everyone follows the same posting standards and don't add irrelevant, inappropriate, futile, spammy or offensive content. We thank you for your cooperation and in helping to turn DCW into a thriving DC community! I. When to post - You have something relevant to add. - To give your opinion about the topic being discussed. - It is allowed to resurrect an old topic if you have something relevant to add to it. - To say anything really, as long as it doesn't sound inappropriate, totally out of place or offensive. II. When Not to post - Please, do NOT double post. You may instead hit the "Edit" button right below your post to add content or modify it. - No spam or offensive post. - Totally out of context or unnecessary addition to the discussion. III. What to post - Anything relevant or that somehow makes sense in the thread's context. As long as spammy or offensive comments are avoided (and the other rules respected), it should be alright. - If you believe part or all of your post contains spoilers, we strongly encourage the use of tags to hide it by default (and thus prevent leaking sensitive information to unsuspecting readers). Note that DCW reserves the rights to take any sanction deemed necessary at our own discretion." I thank you for reading all of this, and once again welcome you to these forums. Wow...just wow, good job making yourself sound like a pretentious asshole with nothing better to do than nitpick about every little thing on a forum. You are obviously one of those people who has nothing better to do but sit in front of your computer all day long trying to act superior to everyone else because in reality you have no life. Honestly I don't give a damn about my stupid post count so you don't have to worry about your oh so prestigious status. Oh and since I know you're probably thinking about this right now being the nitpicky rule enforcer you are, I hope the mods kick me off of this forum. I was trying to find a way to delete my account but I couldn't so it would be just as well. Oh and if this seems like an extreme or childish reaction I just dislike dealing pompous anal jackasses in any way, its all to common with the sense of anonymity the internet affords and I avoid it whenever possible, it is simply too trivial to waste time on. So thank you for showing me up front that this forum is a waste of my time.

Kyuu Nye 425 Report post Posted August 2, 2011 No comment I think we should leave this guy... Agreed... Don't know how to reply to what he/she said, since apparently he/she completely misunderstood what I was getting at. I can only feel pity, because the inability to take criticism will lead to leaving a fantastic community. I wish you luck LWotC. PS: If you really hate me that much for being a "pretentious asshole" you could always ignore me and just remain in the community. I am after all only one of hundreds. In doing so you'll not see posts or even personal contact with me if you so choose. And would be far more constructive than simply leaving the community altogether, which is an overreaction to the situation. @Parkur: You know full well that isn't true. I'm pretty busy IRL. So thank you for showing me up front that this forum is a waste of my time. Nah... I think you can understand why we want to tell you. Double posting is not a crime, but it does bring some trouble to reading the thread, so rules are made to not double post. If it is accidental, nobody will cuff you and bring you away. However, we DO have to explain the rules to you so that you don't do it so often and caught by the staff, SINCE YOU DIDN'T READ THE RULES BEFOREHAND. So before you get PM-ed by those staff, we'll tell you first. Usually we get only one or two people explaining about the double posting part, but I guess you got all the more 'active members' on at the same time. I actually agree that telling you once or at most twice would be enough... But I guess its become a habit for us... Im sure most of their intent is not to scare you off the forum. But if we actually offended you because of that, I apologise on their behalf. However, I do have to comment on the way you replied... Let me quote it: ...good job making yourself sound like a pretentious asshole with nothing better to do than nitpick about every little thing on a forum. I know you are trying to attempt sarcasm, but I think this is a little too much. I don't care if you think Im one of the "pompous anal jackasses" around here, but I think by directing such words on others will really make others think lowly of you. Even though I think it is not nice of them to make you feel unwelcome, but I think you went overboard by calling them names. I do hope that you can apologise for your words. Thanks.
