You see, when a person has one or two good talents, they really like to feel like they're talented, and that their talent is worth being recognized, because everything else about them generally sucks. What really sucks is when these one or two good talents are simply not good enough and someone else's talent in the same area is so much greater in the same community that its shadow strangles the first person's talent. And then the person with a few good things is left with a few decent things and a bunch of no-good things and feels horrible. Because being praised by your parents means nothing once you are older. You wish to have your talents recognized by your peers. But your peers don't see any talent except mediocrity. So.. that's just not fun. Just because I don't respond when you push me or hit me doesn't mean I'm afraid. The reason I didn't get angry when you threw my note-books out the window was because I could always write what I had previously written, not copied unlike you. It doesn't matter to me. I always considered you a friend, even though you only made me an object of a savage tirade every moment. I still extend my hand to you. Knowing the truth does make it difficult but I do it anyway. Even if everyone says I was being used, it won't be called using me because I am doing it out of goodwill, right? True strength lies in controlling yourself, not others.
