CoolKid94 2 Report post Posted August 22, 2011 I don't really know if I'm supposed to post something like this, but I'm doing it anyways. If it's against site codes or something, please remember I'm new before booting me off. Anyways, the point of this topic is for users to ask about how to get certain episodes in a certain format. Like getting Episodes 121-122 in AVI. format. If you're unsure about what the episode number is, then this is NOT the place to ask. Ask somewhere else. Anyways, I'll start us off. If anyone has any more questions, feel free to ask! Wanted: Episodes 121-122 The Locked Bathroom Murder Case Movie 8: New DCTP Translation. Can be SD. Gosho Aoyama's Short Stories (all) All need to be in AVI., MP4., or some other format compatible with Windows Media Player, as I don't have a credit card and I can't buy anything better. Subs can be crappy, but need to be English and be easily readable. And please don't tell me to watch them online, as I've already decided to download all of them. If I come up with more, I'll post. Note: I'm posting this AFTER I've thoroughly scoured DCTP's website, along with many others. So don't send me to the giant list in DCTP's Media section. I've already checked. Many thanks to all! Akechi 1 Report post Posted August 22, 2011 I'm not sure what your problem is. The format provided by DCTP is .mkv, is it not? I thought that was compatible with WMP. If it isn't, you should just download VLC media player (or something else - lots of free media players out there), which is free and, I'm quite certain, compatible with .mkv. Southpaw 61 Report post Posted August 23, 2011 The title for this thread is really confusing, because there's another thread by this title, that does something completely different... and I suppose this thread is okay as long as there are no actual links... but you should really make the title more specific
CoolKid94 2 Report post Posted August 24, 2011 I apologize for the confusion: it's a complete coincidence that this thread shares a name with another one. Also, thanks to those who answered my question about MKV. files. My new question is if RAR. and OGM. files are playable on Windows Media Player, RealPlayer, or VLC Player. Also, as I'm so new, I don't know how to change the title of this thread. Is it possible? Anyone else can post anything for themselves too, you know! It's not just about me! Southpaw 61 Report post Posted August 24, 2011 Rar is a compressed format, and when de-archived often turns into avi... I've heard that rar is playable as-is, but I've always extracted it first Ogm is playable in windows media, as long as you have the right codec... so in the long run it might just be simpler to use vlc I try to avoid using realplayer for anything PS I can change the thread title for you, what would you like it to be? CarpetCrawler 280 Report post Posted August 24, 2011 VLC Player is your best option for playing video files. It plays most all formats, even RealMedia. Like Southpaw said, you have to extract a .RAR file before you can use it. I highly recommend a program like 7Zip for that.
CoolKid94 2 Report post Posted August 24, 2011 Thanks for the info! I'll be sure to put it to use! As to the name of the thread, it could be something like, "Need a Certain Video Format?" or something. It doesn't matter to me, but it should be something along those lines. Now I can watch DC in style!
