AJ M. 204 Report post Posted October 7, 2011 Just like I thought... The new manga Chapter 792 was released today. It turns out that the vehicular vandalism culprit is Shigei-san (surprise!). The case was pretty short and simple; it seems that Gosho wanted to go straight ahead to Chiba's love story right away. But it was like I predicted - the culprit vandalized cars with rearview obstructions, lost a family member (her son I think) due to a car backing up, and took out her grief upon cars that reminisce the accident. As to why her car was vandalized in the front rather than the roof, Conan claimed that Shigei-san's lipstick and saliva stuck to the airbag (when she backed up into Fukuchi-san), so she disguised the lipstick markings within the graffiti. Additionally, she wanted to be relieved from suspicion by vandalizing her own car (like we haven't seen something like this before). So yes, this case was pretty predictable considering the correlation between the vandalized cars. Other than that, there wasn't anything complex about the conclusion of the case. As for Chiba's love story, it was quite disappointing... Chiba tells Miike, "Could you possibly be... (Miike becomes excited with angst) the one who game me a ticket for illegal parking in Haido a little while ago?" Wow. Then what's worse is that he questions in his head "it couldn't be, right? (the girl from the video)". At that point, I was furious. Is it a crime to confront her and ask whether she is the girl of his dreams? Where's the pain in that? Then, they can become a lovey-dovey couple like the other police officers (except Yumi). I guess we'll have to wait and see what lies in the future for Chiba's love story. Unfortunately, Gosho is taking yet another break (making us wait for Chapter 800 even longer) but judging from the side note he'll probably continue Chiba's love case pretty soon (if not the next chapter). And Chiba is starting to realize who the mystery newbie really is, so that's something. And did anyone else notice that this was the first arc in a long time not to even mention Sera?
