Romanian Chatroom and Classroom

Recommended Posts

I searched on these forums, but I couldn't find a Romanian Chatroom, so I'm starting one :)

So let's begin.

Salutare, românilor. Ce părere aveţi? Avem nevoie de un astfel de topic?

Oh my. I think there aren't many Romanians here. Why not teach Romanian here so other members can learn as well? I would love to learn Romanian! :D

According to Google Translate: (Google translate sucks anyway :P )

Învaţă-ne român!

Sure, why not?

Oh, and yes...Google Translate sucks :D

The correct form for "Learn us Romanian!" is "Învaţă-ne română". Ă is the missing piece.

Lesson 1

The alphabet

A Ă Â B C D E F G H Î I J K L M N O P Q R S Ş T Ţ U V W X Y Z

a ă â b c d e f g h î i j k l m n o p q r s ş t ţ u v w x y z

As you can see, in Romanian alphabet are 31 letters - 5 more letters that in the English alphabet. The letters Ă and  are never used at the start of a word. In Romanian, instead of Â, it is used Î/î at the beginning and the end of a word, so  don't exist, only â. The same is for Ă. There is no word that starts with Ă, so it would exist only ă.

Oh... I hate you Google. <_< Thanks for the lesson! I mean, Mulţumesc! :D

Romanian looks like French and Portuguese put together...

It looks a little more easier than Russian so I guess I can learn! :D Russian has 33 alphabets and most of the letters sound very unlike English letters eventhough they might look the same!

Talking about pronounciation, how those the letters sound?

OMG what?! 33 alphabets?! or letters :P

About the pronouncement, I did a quick search on Youtube for it and I found this:

Those words in Romanian are written by the pronouncement, not the literary form.

So, have a nice learning time :)

And if you got any question, feel free to post here or PM me.

That's because she said that in Romanian are not Q, W and Y...which is not true. Ok, maybe it is, because we don't use them very often, but we still have them for some neologisms and other words :D Oh, and she didn't mention Î either, just Â.

Ohh... She's wrong then. You should do the videos, not her! :D

I wanna try saying something. Here goes nothing:

Bună! Ce faci?

I'm tired so... Noapte bună!

This is the furthest I can go. :P

P.s: How do you say everyone in Romanian? Like, 'good night everyone' and 'hello everyone'???

Almost read this as Romantic Chatroom and Classroom. =X

I'll try Romanian sometime, but that'll have to wait until I finish the other languages I'm learning (or attempting to learn).

I nearly fell of the chair when I saw the first sentence.

Nu, this isn't a Romantic Chatroom/classroom. XP

What other languages are you learning?

My good friend is Romanian. Should be interesting to learn more than what he has taught me. And Romanian is a very unique language... In that region I don't think there are any others like it.

Also... There is another Romanian on the forums here... Shim Cheon Minri... Apparently she comes from Bucuresti. (Sorry I don't have the Romanian IME, and I don't feel like opening character map)

I saw. =X

Spanish, Chinese, brushing up English, teaching myself Japanese, hoping to learn Korean, etc. Oh, and I want to learn some Latin, just enough to get me by.

I can help you with Japanese and Latin, I make them in school...about Korean...I'm trying to learn alone so it's a little hard but if I find a good textbook or something like that I can give it to you if you want :)
