IHKF 23 Report post Posted November 14, 2011 i know but small thing girl love is to ask how they are doing or in other word getting news or sign to show they are loved a bit as kudo don't do anything else then talking about himself how lame and even if as conan he already know that won't kill him to ask thing as he's supposed to be far away for ran I think he's actually pretty good at being romantic- when he's really working at it. XD I mean- he took Ran out to a fancy restaurant, got a wonderful table with sentimental value, and even planned to admit romantic feelings for her. I don't get much of what you said, though. ^^' I'm sorry.

IHKF 23 Report post Posted November 14, 2011 the idea is ok but if he was that romantic he will keep himself from getting to that case as he's with his lover comon kudo stand up and resist a bit Well that's where my argument on whether or not he loves her comes in. I think if he can't take his love for her and use it as willpower he doesn't love her. I don't think that's based on how romantic he is I think it's on how much he loves the girl. Aeyra 260 Report post Posted November 14, 2011 I know- but besides their morals, they have NOTHING in common. Shinichi was daydreaming about confessing "love" to Ran far before the incident that resulted in Conan Edogawa. He knew he had feelings for her but still ran off and was constantly late. When you truly love something you make sacrifices for it. He never seems to put Ran above any cases- which to me means he doesn't love her as much as he claims to or the fans claim he does. XD Keep in mind that he ALSO BOLTED when Ran caught the flowers that one episode. XD Chances are he would have ended up running off anyways even IF she didn't grant him permission. With the way he was almost literally shaking in his seat with anticipation- if he can't concentrate on her, if he can't have some self control and block the case out completely, then to me, he doesn't love her. And that second time wouldn't have BEEN a SECOND TIME if he had stayed the first time! XD Yes, you expect to have differences in a couple- you have to. But interests and similar backgrounds and similar tastes and similar morals are what make people compatible. Shinichi and Ran only have morals. The parents thing is about similar backgrounds. They didn't grow up in the same way so they cannot relate in that way to each other. And running after somebody who he simply had strange suspicions about is not sacrificing Ran for the greater good- ESPECIALLY when he does it all the time. XD Think about how their MARRIAGE would turn out! He'd never be home! This debate is getting good! It's time for me to get serious! (or at least as serious as I can at 12:11AM!) Your argument is that even though Shinichi and Ran share the same morals, their interests differ too greatly for them to be together happily. I think otherwise. Morals dictate what you believe in, and essentially how you'll live your life. If they share the same morals, they share the same wavelength, and are more likely to understand each other in times of crisis. (when these crisis' don't happen to involve the complexity of teenage emotions- nobody understands those.) As far as backgrounds go, I don't think how you're raised has that much effect on your love life. I'm raised in a strict household that requires the best academic standards and participation in academic events, and I could fall in love with someone who grew up in a casual family that puts emphasis on sports. I'm not saying it wouldn't affect the relationship at all, but backgrounds don't really have as much as an effect as morals do. And interests... Yes, that deciding factor. *sigh* Let me put it this way. Shinichi and Ran wouldn't be best friends (for like what, 10+ years?) if they didn't have some common interests, whether they've been revealed or not. I'm just pointing that out. One interest I know they share for sure is an interest in each other- and that alone counts for a ton. To be that interested in another person means you listen to them, you know and want to learn things about them, and etc. etc. Asking questions about each other's interests and learning about the other person and becoming interested in their life makes up for all those lost interests. As for 'truly loving' something as you define it... For one, centering your life around a person and always putting them first is a very unhealthy lifestyle as it makes you unstable and ruins the rest of your life as well. And secondly, truly loving someone doesn't mean you're not allowed to pursue your passions and put them second for a little bit as well. Shinichi puts his cases above the importance of a date. I'd put my math and science competitions above a date too, and I wouldn't be dating a guy who didn't understand they are important to me, The fact that he tries to resist shows he cares, the fact that Ran tells him to go shows she cares as well. If you don't call it 'love', then let's at least call it 'mutual attraction.' Chasing after Vodka and 'abandoning' Ran isn't as big a deal as everyone makes it sound! It's a case of 'curiosity killed the cat.' Shinichi is a detective. When he sees weird things, (especially if these weird things are suspicious) his natural instinct is to go investigate. If Vodka was just trying to find a friend that got seriously lost on the way back from the bathroom and Shinichi helped him, we wouldn't say he 'abandoned' Ran, would we? The thing that leads people into that way of thinking is the consequence of his actions, being shrunk into itsy bitsty Conan. Just imagine he made a mistake. Does it look so bad then? And if it does, are you trying to say you're not allowed to leave the side of a person you love because you want to check something out? What if you were at a museum and you wanted to see two different exhibits, and didn't want to see the other? Is it a betrayal of love if you don't go with each other for ten minutes? The final result just makes Shinichi a lot worse than he seems, okay? The part about marriage just made me crack up... Shinichi would investigate what he wants and still be able to spend time with Ran. No couples are together even close to 24/7 simply because of the hindrance of jobs and personal affairs. You're allowed to have a life outside of marriage. And Shinichi does not just go randomly around Tokyo looking for crimes to solve (crimes find him. ) so it wouldn't be like he'd never have spare time. If he ended up working for the police, he'd work police hours, if he was going to open his own agency, he'd work Mouri's hours. (with less beer, cigarettes, and Yoko.) That's my side to this. :3 Now I'd better get some sleep before I'm just a walking zombie tomorrow. See ya!

Your morals alone cannot make a relationship. You need to be able to talk to them about something that both of you are interested in. You need to want the same things out of a romance. Morals only dictate that they'd teach the child the same thing and won't get into fights over as many decisions. 2. Ahhh and that's not true. When you are raised a certain way you will typically want to raise your child the same way. If you have a parent who came from a family that was not affectionate and a parent that came for a family that was WAY too close to their kids, then you'll probably have one parent wanting to smother the kid while the other will easily get into fights with the other parent that "you baby them too much." Of course this relationship can still work out- but it affects the way they raise their children if they don't set up a specific way to raise their children such as attachment parenting. 3. They probably were stuck together from birth and were just pushed together until they just grew to put up with each other and slowly became friends. That's the only way I can see it seeing as how they have NOTHING in common yet shown to us. XD 4. He doesn't need to ALWAYS put her first- but he always puts his job before her. That isn't healthy in a relationship either. And while you don't have people who can take your tests for you Shinichi has people who can do his job for him- the crime scene investigators and detectives HIRED for it. XD Letting him go showed that she loved him- but my doubt comes from SHINICHI'S side. XD 5. As I said before, if he truly loved Ran, (and keep in mind he JUST solved a case so he should be "cased" out for the day) he would have just talked to her about it instead of running away. He even ran off after she asked him to stay. At the very least he should have taken her WITH him after she was just CRYING HER EYES OUT. XD 6. What about on birthdays? What about on anniversaries? Shinichi so far has always put the case before Ran. We have no evidence that says that will stop any time soon. Marriages have been broken apart because of the husband or wife placing work before the family. While Shinichi may do his best to bolt there AFTER he's completed the case (and after he's hurried through it) the fact of the matter remains he placed the case before them on something important. Shinichi has done this to Ran before and still hasn't stopped. That's why if anything I think their marriage would end up like Eri's and Kogoro's if anything. See ya. Good night sleep tight! ^^
Kaitou Kid Legendary Thief 197 Report post Posted November 14, 2011 Wow... Long debate XD (not intending to join in though...) I think I agree with the part where their marriage might not turn out well and that it wouldn't be very healthy D: (even though I don't wish for it to be that way D:) But I still think that Shinichi does love Ran despite being overly enthusiastic over his cases. I actually see 'running off for a case when he's with Ran' something like a child running off to a candy store when he is with his mom. A childlike behavior, but I don't think it is because he doesn't love her enough. I think it's more like a habit or that Shinichi takes Ran a little too for granted. Maybe when he loses her, he'll know how much he loved her then. Anyways, I support shinran!!!! <

IHKF 23 Report post Posted November 16, 2011 I think Shinichi DOES have feelings for her- just not as strong as love. I think he has maybe a crush on her- but until he shows that he can place her above his cases I won't consider it love. XD They are, after all, still teenagers. You took the words right out of my mouth. Shinichi's not mature enough to be in that intense of a relationship, but he does have an adorkable crush on Ran. I think once he wisens up a little and figures out what's really important to him though, we can call it love. Because that boy's priorities are all over the place. They change almost every freaking time.

redangelran 29 Report post Posted November 17, 2011 People don't have to live similar lives to be in love with each other. Solving cases is his passion. Also note that people don't always realize they're that much in love until they lose the person they love. I'm sure if Shinichi had known what would happen, he would've thought more about chasing down Vodka. It was a split second decision and there wasn't time for him to weigh pros and cons. However, Shinichi also believes in justice. Most people, if you ask them, will say that they'd rather sacrifice the one they love for the "greater good." Does this mean they don't love that person? I'm sure not. They're just acknowledging that if they can save more lives, they would choose to make a huge sacrifice. Running off in the middle of a date was not Shinichi's fault. In fact, Shinichi even hesitated when he was running off until Ran told him to go. She told him to go because she knew he loved solving cases and because she loved him. The next time he ran off he had no choice -- he was going to turn into Conan. Again, back to interests. You don't have to share the same interests to love each other. It's often the imperfections and differences that make everything interesting. If you had the exact clone of yourself, one, you'd probably find you don't like yourself all that much http://dctp.thetrogd...lipsrsealed.gif, and two, it'd be completely boring. And what does it matter about their parents? People love each other for the person they're in love with, not because of who their parents are. Sure, they may have been raised differently, but when it comes to love, it's feelings. Anyways, that's my argument that says that Shinichi does not necessarily not love Ran. I can't say I love the pairing anymore, but I personally disagree with your argument that Shinichi doesn't love Ran. this is awesome. read the past few pages and amazed again at the long arguments.
