Denaya Kudo 3 Report post Posted May 31, 2012 I am very sad because in Indonesia, Detective Conan series which usually aired on one of the private television every Sunday dispensed The reason is because of fear of the tricks of the killings will emulated by the people. Do you agree with these reasons? I really do not agree to that. Because serial detective conan can add insight and knowledge of the audience. Also can hone the ability of the audience to guess what tricks are used and who was responsible. I am deeply saddened by the decision. We, who loved detective conan in Indonesia is also very sad and has repeatedly applied for detective conan show again. but no response AAAA Can anyone help us?
Chekhov MacGuffin 1089 Report post Posted May 31, 2012 AAAA Can anyone help us? This isn't going to be the answer you want to hear, but you will most likely have to help yourselves. Foreigners complaining to the broadcasters/government/whoever is responsible for the cancellation isn't going to sway them like their own Indonesian viewers will because it is you Indonesians who are the market and the people they care about. Foreigners will only look like outside meddlers in this situation. Unless the government/broadcaster/whoever changes its position, my guess is that Indonesian fans (if there are enough of them) will organize and do Indonesian fansubs because people will still want to watch anyway. I think there is already a group that does this. This is preaching to the crowd here, but I do not think Detective Conan encourages criminal behavior or concocting tricks to fool investigators. If anything, the message is that culprits always get caught in the end. That doesn't stop sensationalist news stories from saying that some show/videogame/song/book inspired some crime, but the truth behind these stories always seems to be that the criminal person was troubled for their own reasons. If Detective Conan really inspired crimes, why does Japan, where the show is very popular, have one of the lowest crime and murder rates in the world ? Even I heard in Japan, the tricks are used as basic materials of cases in Japan. I was very sad, why Indonesian can not think like the Japanese?!

shirahime 1 Report post Posted June 17, 2012 wow I'm quite surprised that DC is now banned in Indo after all these years. i'm Indonesian and i've been a devoted DC fan for around 9 years so i clearly understand why you're disappointed but, whatever the reason is, i think the impact is not as bad. i mean, it's not hard to get the latest updates of DC on the internet nowadays ( i remember times when i have to patiently wait for the newest episodes on tv every week) and its actually very convenient and fast. moreover, by airing DC on national TV everyone can watch it so maybe they thought they couldnt filter the viewers and banning would prevent some potential irrational peeps (if theyre actually exist lol) from doing anything silly. ah well, now that they're being 'thoughtful' to indo viewers, they should start to think about those uneducated horor/porn movies as well :/ i also notice some indo fans also have started their own translation groups for DC (which is great!) sooo jangan sedih atau kecewa yaa for the non-indonesians, the japanese culture (including anime/manga) exposure is very strong in indo and DC is definitely one of the most popular ones.
Denaya Kudo 3 Report post Posted June 25, 2012 yes ... I was just disappointed with the way of Indonesia thought. Take a negative thing but does not utilize the positive side .. but, yaa ... never mind :-P haha
Eisuke 3 Report post Posted June 28, 2012 At least you've had it on TV. I live in Ireland and it's never been on once and there is nearly no chance of it ever being aired here.

tedturtle 2 Report post Posted July 21, 2012 Maybe you can complain to your local government officials about the ban? Nothing will change unless you speak up and do something about it. I hope your government will lift the ban on DC.
Sylvie 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2012 DC(dubbed in Chinese) isn't banned in China(I mean in mainland), but it isn't on TV now. Perhaps they don't think it neccessary to broadcast since boring domestic cartoons have already occupied the whole market. They prefer to let children/teenagers watch them rather than provide them with some really good cartoons from Japan.
PhiBrainChild 27 Report post Posted July 26, 2012 If they've only aired Detective Conan in my country, I would've known about it earlier. As long as I remember, the only channel where they used to air Detective Conan was on some cable network which I didn't have (and I found out about that recently). But oh well, there's the internet. It is really sad to hear that after so many years they've stopped airing there at Indonesia, but let's be happy that we can at least watch it somewhere.
Wicky 11 Report post Posted July 27, 2012 ^I think you put that very nicely. But, in Indonesia are you even allowed to watch it on the Internet?
HeijiKun 0 Report post Posted November 18, 2012 ^I think you put that very nicely. But, in Indonesia are you even allowed to watch it on the Internet? I am also thinking about that, since there's a game in indonesia I really want to play but they were only recognizing indonesian IP addresses, if their government were capable of doing that, maybe they are also capable of blocking domain sites such as anime streaming sites in their country. It depends how the sites are configured. If it is a site located in Indonesia, it could definitely block non-Indonesian IPs. Outside of Indonesia, there aren't that many sites that block Indonesian IPs because there is no need to. To reach them, even if they are blocked inside Indonesia, you use a proxy. I think an Indonesian proxy would also let you access the Indonesian-only game.If the Indonesian government isn't blocking all the anime websites and throwing people in jail, I think it is safe to watch the anime. Indonesia has more important things to monitor, like national security issues. They don't care about people watching foreign shows.

Hobgoblin2012 49 Report post Posted November 27, 2012 This reminds me of the censorship they made in Italy. For example, they cut away the word "drugs" from an episode and substituted it with "microfilm", making the motive of the murder quite absurd.
