AU DCW IRL Round (Beta)

Rules, details, and background on this very special, AU DCW IRL Beta Round will go here. You should not post here if you have not received approval from me. Questions and concerns should be directed through the main DCW IRL thread or through PM.

So, let's get the boring stuff out of the way.

Rules

- There will be a maximum of 5 players. There may be less depending on entries.

- Be in character unless there is reason not to

- Don't post irrelevant posts here

- Use common sense

I won't bother to post all of the rules here, but most DCW IRL rules apply. If you have questions, PM me before posting.

For this round, I request you do not create long-lasting NPCs. Monsters, aliens, etc. will all be governed by me.

This round will probably last between 1.5 and 2 months.

Background

You wince in the cold bright light and find yourself alone in a blank white room. Where are you?

You squint and try to remember what you saw last. A large animal...no, a monster. Its ugly brown claws stretched out towards you, about to grasp you up and destroy you. You flinch at the memory. You know that there are others who have died from it--you saw them before it headed towards you.

So is this death? It doesn't feel like it. You reach over to your sleeve and slide two fingers just below your wrist. The slight pulse tells you you're alive--or are you? Do the dead have a heartbeat in...heaven? Or did you do something horrible enough to condemn you to hell?

Gingerly, you stand up and move towards the door. You're dressed in your normal clothing and you realize that everything is in place. You stare at your shirt...there is nothing. No blood, no claw marks.

What's going on?

Nervous, though a little braver now, you stride towards the door and place your hand on the doorknob. A screech fills the air and you jump. Suddenly, you're not so eager to open the door. Nevertheless, heart pounding, you turn the knob.

You do not know what you will find.

Each and every person will be a normal civilian. You will not have any weapons on you. Your bio should be realistic, even in an AU RP.

Monster/Alien profiles will be posted shortly. You may start submitting your applications on Thursday. Those who are approved will have their character bios added to the first post. I will be adding a sample bio to the main DCW IRL thread for reference.

Monsters and Aliens:

Introduction: No one truly knows where these monsters or aliens have come from. Each has a weakness of some sort, it is up to your character to discover it. It will not be an easy task as these creatures guard their secrets tightly.

Revinue

Species Name: Revinue

Origin: Reuthentriptonstan

Appearance: Large, brown, winged creatures. Ugly in appearance with claws larger than an average sized adult. Each wing is approximately 15 ft. (4.5 meters). Large black eyes rest on each side of a triangular head, scouting for their prey. They have sharp brown fangs that can be seen when they screech or consume their food. The wings are covered in thin scales that protect it when it is eating.

Calls/Sounds: The Revinue have a high-pitched screech, though this is only heard when they are hungry or frustrated.

Description: The Revinue are a large number of predatory creatures that prey on anything that moves. Their eyes are made to detect motion and cover a large area. They are almost always seen in groups--a lone Revinue is a rare occurrence. Their claws are their main method of killing, grabbing their prey and swooping over to a private area where they may eat their food in peace. The prey is generally eaten alive. It eats at a surprisingly fast pace, which the victims would be thankful for if they were able to process the thought. They generally prefer eating their food alone though if on a hunt, they will swallow their prey at an alarming rate in order to find more food. If they are on a hunt, the victim may be eaten and later undigested for proper consumption. If a Revinue loses the ability to fly, it is considered worthless.

Weakness: The Revinue's powerful wings are also its weakest spot, specifically the inside of the wings. The outside is armored to protect itself when consuming its prey. The inside though, is soft and unprotected. If one should puncture a Revinue's wing, it will lose its ability to fly and in humiliation, will often commit suicide or completely lose its ability to function. There are exceptions to this rule, though they are rare. Unfortunately, to take advantage of the Revinue's weakness, one must be able to find the inside of its wing...and often, the only people who are able to see it are those who have been captured by it.

Creanthon

Species Name: Creanthon

Origin: Bretin

Appearance: Tiny, can fit in the palm of a hand. Metallic, spider-like. Has a small flat round blue disc on its back. Slivery grey.

Calls/Sounds: None.

Description: The Creanthon originated as an escaped robot species from the planet Bretin, eventually establishing themselves on the planet's moon, Morthanti. Extremely intelligent, the Creanthon are capable of hacking into any database in the world. They are capable of almost any task. At the same time, they are absolutely lethal, the tips of their legs (normally harmless) are capable of injecting a lethal poison with no cure that will slowly and painfully kill its victim. The Creanthon cannot feel, though they appear to long for freedom from enslavement.

Weakness: The blue disc on its back is its brain, the entire control system. If destroyed, the Creanthon can no longer operate. Do note that you'll actually have to catch the spider first--it is surprisingly agile. Beware though. Once a Creanthon's disc is destroyed, it sends out a distress signal to all of the Creanthon nearby...and chances are, you won't be so lucky this time.

Joráton

Species Name: Joráton

Origin: Bretin

Appearance: In their normal form they are almost humanoid. They all have blue skin with golden eyes as well as dark black fingernails. Wave-like patterns are often frequented on their skin. They can take on the form of any creature that they have killed, though only for a short period of time. If their cover is broken, they are unable to take on the form again.

Calls/Sounds: The Joráton are able to speak all alien languages and English. Their voices are a little deeper in pitch than most people. They can also emit a sharp cry which alerts their kinsmen to their location.

Description: The Joráton are possibly one of the most intelligent beings that walk the universe. Their technology and intelligence is far more superior than the humans in the year 2012 on Earth. They have amazing spaceships and are the creators of the Creanthon, created as a weapon of war. Their ability to take on the form of those they have killed is a genetically modified ability. While they claim to come in peace to eliminate the Creanthon (who are being hunted to extinction due to their lethalness), it may be worth noting that their planet, Bretin, is nearing its demise and the Joráton are in search for a new planet to inhabit. They also, to some extent, have the ability of telepathy though only for short periods of time. While they do feel emotions, they generally appear stoic.

Weakness: The Joráton's greatest strength, their intelligence, is also their greatest weakness. Their intelligence is by far so superior that they have lost the understanding of simpler concepts and actions that are not thought through. They are physically strong, though if you catch them off guard, you may have a chance.

Vertini

Species Name: Vertini

Origin: Tristoclaoptomino

Appearance: Scaly and gigantic, these creatures fill the universe with terror at their name. Their tail is covered with thick spikes spewing with purple and green poison (the purple variety is much more painful and toxic, but the green variety stretches out the length of death). They have green skin and small yellow eyes along with with a plated yellow belly and sharp white fangs. Their claws are thick though short and stronger than steel, easily ripping open buildings. They are also, of course, capable of breathing fire. The Vertini can also take on an appearance similar to that of the mongoose, with larger eyes and greater speed.

Calls/Sounds: Roars are often heard from these creatures in their natural form. Different pitches and moans are also part of their language.

Description: The Vertini are one of the most feared creatures in the universe, mainly because of their ability to change form and appear harmless. Their purple venom will kill instantaneously, their green venom will drag out the death. The Vertini generally prefer to kill the second way. While incapable of human speech, the Vertini are able to communicate with ease. They have a keen sense of smell and hearing and are some of the strongest aliens in the universe. The tail itself can be used as a weapon and their great size, equaling to that of five floors, is another amazing advantage. Vertini breathe fire only when seriously enraged. They generally only hunt for prey and are not extraordinarily intelligent. They rarely travel in large groups, generally seen as a pair.

Weakness: The Vertini's lack of intelligence can be used in some way, though this will be limited as it can be very resourceful. However, their greatest weakness is their eyes as they cannot see very well.
