(Oh, man. Can we start the war? Or we must wait Moho first)

(Moho says it takes a week for the weapons to prime during the meeting. And the meeting is just over. I don't think a week passes so quickly. However, I don't think he said we can't start the basic fights. So probably... yeah?  )

She'd grown tired and realized she'd hadn't had her daily dose of strawberry. Sakila deactivated her ability and slipped into the village streets. Everything was slowly returning to normal and she couldn't be more relieved.

"Oi, sister!"

Turning around, Sakila found the boy from the outdoor market. He carried a bag in his hands.

"You! Uh, what's up?"

"Guess what, sister! You won't believe who I saw last night at the skirmish!"

"Who?"

"That Armed Forces man!"

The boy walked alongside Sakila, chatting amiably. He reached into the bag and pulled out a ripe strawberry. Rubbing it on his shirt, he handed it to Sakila and took one out for himself.

"Thanks. So, wait, that Armed Forces man... General Petya?"

"What? That loser?! No way! I saw me the leader!"

"You mean... Greyfield?"

"Huh? No, the leader."

"But... Greyfield IS the leader."

"Whatcha talkin' about?! That Greyfield dude was totally peein' his pants in front of the REAL leader."

"Real leader, eh? What's his name, do you know?" Sakila wiped the juice from the strawberry off her lips and slowed to a stop. They'd reached her apartment.

"I think he said he was... T."

"So he's that scared of T," Sakila muttered to herself.

"Sister?"

"Oh! Nothing important. Thanks for walking me home, kiddo. And for the strawberry. And the info. Get on home now."

He sighed. "I dunno what's going on, sister, but that man is trouble."

"Yeah... Seems so." Sakila sent the boy on his way and made her way to her apartment. She stepped inside the lonely, dingy home.

She was sleepier than anything and decided to hit the hay after a quick meal. She opened up a container of yogurt and settled down in the extra room her parents had converted into a study. Picking up an old, worn book, Sakila began reading.

"The country of Japan is an island nation off the coast of Asia..."

Flipping through the chapter, Sakila found an interesting tidbit of information.

Exceptionally advanced in technology, recent Japanese endeavors have resulted in the creation of a limitation device."

Wait, what?

"This limitation device is able to affect the abilities of humans. The fastest runners are now slower than a sloth. The strongest weightlifters now kneel to the power of a feather. The creator of this device is the genius technician—"

She flipped the page, her breathing stalled.

"Australia is..."

What? The page... It was gone. Someone had ripped out the last page. No way! Not when she was about to figure out something so helpful!

Feeling frustrated, Sakila threw the book across the room. She leaned back against the computer chair and angrily licked her spoon clean. But at least she had learned something. The current Inhibitor may have been influenced by this limitation device from the past. Who was it? Who was this inventor?

She needed to let...her uncle....8th Battalion.... Sakila yawned. Alright, it wasn't THAT big. She could research about it a bit more tomorrow and report her findings. But for now... Leaning forward and placing her head on the mahogany desk in front of her, Sakila closed her eyes, a mountain of resources surrounding her.

THUD! SLAP! SMACK!

 

Misaki glared angrily as her weapons came into harsh contact with the dummies. She had escaped to the training room after the meeting, needing a place to take out her fury about everything that was happening. She kept switching after every few blows, her hands nimbly grabbing and distorting her weapons. Her energy was draining, she could feel it, but she didn't stop. 

 

"Hey. Hey! HEY!"

 

She stopped her swing, panting heavily as sweat dripped down her face. She turned towards the voice, letting out a raspy "Hey."

 

The small girl threw a water bottle and a bar at her, which she caught with ease. The two had come to know each other when they fought against the Armed Forces in a battle and had since then talked occasionally. She fell to the floor as she chowed down on the bar, desperately needing the energy. As she began to drain her water, her companion said, "So whatcha up to?"

 

"What does it look like? Beating the shit outta dummies."

 

"Because of the meeting?"
 

Misaki looked at her, tacitly giving a reply. Vivi sat next to her, taking out her little bird she carried around often (though now it looked rather... broken). She passed it to her before asking, "Can you fix Kuu? He got screwed up during the battle and I know your dad is a clockmaker so..."

 

Her muscles tighten a tad at the mention of her dad, but she took it, carefully turning it in her hands. "I can try," she said. "No promises though. I only have basic knowledge."

 

"Well, I'm too lazy so."

 

And with that, she began to screw with the bird. She really had no clue what she was doing, she just distorted what looked like needed distorting. She wasn't very confident though. She hadn't needed to fix something in a while, and as a result, was rusty. But somehow, someway, about a half hour later she did it. The bird's eyes flashed on as it screeched out, "Hiya~! Hiya~!"

 

It hopped around as she threw their hands up in joy, grinning madly. I did it! I honest to god did it! 

 

"Yes!" she yelled out.

 

Vivi said, "Thanks for fixing it."

 

"You're welcome!"

 

They sat in silence for a second, the only sounds coming from the rather loud mechanical bird. The small girl got up before walking over to the wall and grabbed some tape. As she wrapped it around her fists, she said, "Come on, let's kick some dummy ass."

 

Misaki let out a laugh before getting up herself, stretching her pipe out. "Ready?"

 

"Ready!"

 

Giving each other a small nod, they began, launching themselves towards their dummies.

It was rather rare, but Vivi was kind of happy that day, so she decided to go do some workout and spend some energy. But when she reached, another girl, Misaki, was there, and she was practically killing the dummies Vivi was supposed to hit later. That can't do.

 

"Hey." Vivi called out to the girl, who apparently did not hear it.

"Hey." She called out again.

 

Still, no response. "... HEY!" Vivi yelled at her, finally catching her attention.

The girl responded, letting out a raspy "Hey."

 

Vivi threw her waterbottle to her and asked blankly, "So... whatcha up to?"

 

 

"What does it look like? Beating the shit outta dummies."

 

"Because of the meeting?" Vivi asked, with a little sarcasm in her tone. 

 

Misaki gave no reply, just an indication that it was probably true. Vivi then sat down next to her, which she normally wouldn't with other people. They had worked together in previous missions and met quite a couple of times. However, the main reason Vivi felt more comfortable with this girl, was probably because they both shared the same goals. She felt that she could relate to how Misaki feels when she joined the rebellion. Like her, someone close to her had been hurt, in her case died, and they both joined the fight for revenge. This made Vivi feel as though they are bonded by fate. 

 

Then, she remembered that Misaki has the ability to bend metals. She hurriedly took out her mechanical bird and put it onto Misaki's hands before asking "Can you fix Kuu? He got screwed up during the battle..." Vivi turned to look at at the ground, "and I know your dad is a clockmaker so..."

 

"I can try," she said, while fiddling with the bird. "No promises though. I only have basic knowledge."

 

"Well... I'm too lazy so..." Vivi trailed off her sentence. She actually just wanted to see Misaki's metal bending ability. She knew Misaki had seen her bird quite a couple of times, so she should have no problem bending it back to the original shape. Vivi understands perfectly that Misaki is actually a genius at this, except she doesn't know it herself. 

 

About a half hour later, after multiple attempts, of some which Misaki herself wasn't satisfied, the bird was fixed as though it was brand new. The bird's eyes flashed on as it screeched out, "Hiya~! Hiya~!"

 

"Yes!" she yelled out.

 

"Thanks for fixing it." Vivi faintly smiled back.

 

"You're welcome!" Misaki looks as though she was in joy.

 

They then continued to sit in silence for a second, the only sounds coming from the rather loud mechanical bird.

Vivi then remembered why she was there in the first place. She got up before walking over to the wall and grabbed some tape.

As she wrapped it around her fists, she said, "Come on, let's kick some dummy ass."

 

The other girl laughed in agreement. "Ready?"

 

'Heh. I won't lose to you.' Vivi thought. "Ready."

 

Misaki gave a nod to Vivi, which somehow indicated their start. Vivi brought up her fist and smashed into the hard cushion.

 

========= Earlier with the technician. ============

"So... What do you need my help with?" The technician asked.

"I need you to help me upgrade him." Vivi held out an out of shaped bird from her new, but still huge and black jacket.

"Huh?! Again? I always wonder why do you need such a high-tech bird for?" The technician raised an eyebrow in curiosity. "I've already helped you to add an AI chip into your bird a few weeks ago, and now you want an upgrade? Do you need him to fight or something?"

"No." Vivi replied and placed the bird on the bed. "I just don't want him to end up like this again."

"... Oh right... You don't care what happens to my awesome invention but you care so much about your..... bird." 

"So... can you help?"

"Humph, I probably can but I may not want to help." the technician crossed his arms. "But first, you need to tell me what kind of upgrade you want to do to your bird. AI technology is already a bit too much for a mechanical bird."

"... I.. want to know if it would be possible to put that cube technology into it?"

"The cube? You want your bird  to be a battery now?"

"No no no. I mean... Can you make it in such a way that it can use the energy from the cube?"

"Huh, you mean allowing it to use it like its own ability? Why do you need...?"

"Can you do it?" Vivi asked again.

"I... I'll try. This could take a while though... " he shrugged.

"Oh, and one more thing."

"What?"

"Can you help to coat the 'void crystal' or whatever that is onto it as well?"

"... Void crystal!? You crazy!? That thing is rare!"

"Well, Jackson did say he would get the materials, you can get some from there..."

"WHAT!? That is for the manufacture of the cu- wait... you don't tell me you want ME to STEAL it?"

"It's not stealing... its still for the same purpose, but just used in a more innovative way..."
"..."

"Just do it."
"Did I just hear a command?"

"No."

"Humph."

"You can do it."

"That's easy for you to say..."

"I know. Well if Jackson finds out, tell him I insisted on it."

"............ I always knew you were trouble."

"Thanks."

Petya observed at his watchtower and he asked his crew "Hey, it's almost six hours. But these fools weren't show up" one of his men with an AKM said, "That so?" Petya sighed, he is smoking, "Well, we gotta place a lot of IEDs, pulls da trigger when these fools were near and ka-f***ing-boom!"

Petya observed at his watchtower and he asked his crew "Hey, it's almost one week. But these fools weren't show up" one of his men with an AKM said, "That so?" Petya sighed, he is smoking, "Well, we gotta place a lot of IEDs, pulls da trigger when these fools were near and ka-f***ing-boom!"

(Wait, it's already a week?! I thought we were just going to fight among ourselves for awhile.... "Basic fighting" like KKLT said....

Petya observed at his watchtower and he asked his crew "Hey, it's almost one week. But these fools weren't show up" one of his men with an AKM said, "That so?" Petya sighed, he is smoking, "Well, we gotta place a lot of IEDs, pulls da trigger when these fools were near and ka-f***ing-boom!"

(Almost one week!? I've only hit the dummy and a week has passed!? O.o

And 'us fools' are planning to 'show up', so can you give us some time for us to 'show up'?

"HEY! What happened here!?" Someone shouted after they entered the training room the next day. On the floor sprawled a dozen of torn and tattered dummies, but there were no one in sight. 

 

"Keh! Those things are lousy..." complained Vivi with a frustrated look on her face. Misaki giggled behind. "Yea. But now they got a real good reason to get better quality ones."

 

"They're all down when I haven't gotten enough yet. Humph. Does the rebellion lack money?"

Misaki tried to control her laughter. "Stop trying to show off. Your hands are already bleeding."

 

"This called bleeding? You haven't seen me when I came back from the fight."

 

"Yea yea... " Misaki shrugged.

 

"You don't look any better though." Vivi added on.

 

"Me? At least they're not bleeding as much."

 

"You just wiped them off. I saw that."

 

Misaki stuck out her tongue. 

 

"We didn't get much sleep last night, but I still feel energetic. What should we do?"

 

"Dunno." Vivi shrugged. 

 

"Vivi! Vivi!" shrieked her bird. "Vivi! Vivi!"

 

"What's the matter?"

 

"Sakila! Sakila!" the bird cried. "Sakila!"

 

"Huh? What?" Vivi was confused.

 

*BEEEEEEP!*

 

"Hello? Vivi? Are you there?"

 

'Oh. A phone call.' Been ages since Vivi received any phone calls.

 

"Da** who changed my ring tone!?" Vivi cursed under her breath and replied. "Yea. I'm here. What's the matter Sakila?"

 

"Ah! Can we meet up for a while? Got some stuff to talk about!"

 

"Sure. I have something I'd like to discuss as well."

 

"Okay! Shall we meet at err... erm... how about your hiding place?"

 

"Alright.... By the way, Misaki's here too. You want her along?"

 

"Oh Misaki!? SURE! Ask her to come along too will ya!?  Phone bill's high! Talk to you in person later! Ja~!"

 

Sakila hung up.

 

"Over! Over!" the bird cried happily.

 

"... Kuu... Next time tell me when its a phone call."

 

"Phone call! Phone call!" the bird shrieked.

[Sakila 88]

Sakila woke up the next morning with a crick in her neck and tears nestled in the corners of her eyes.

Yawning and stretching, she found herself home, in the study. She'd done this before, gone to sleep while reading. An empty container of yogurt lay next to her and her spoon was clutched in her right hand.

 

"Morning...huh?"

 

Warm light drifted through the windows behind the desk. Sakila grabbed the empty container and threw it at the waste basket in the corner of the study. It missed. Pouting, she stomped her way over to the basket and angrily dropped the container inside. She stuck her tongue out at it before skipping over to freshen up for the morning.

 

Her clothes were a mess, all dirty and muddy. After a quick shower, she changed into flowy green shirt and jeans and boots. She transferred her yogurt into a oversized matching green purse. Looking at her reflection in the mirror, Sakila decided to throw on a dark green scarf and sunglasses before grabbing a cold bagel and her cell phone and running outside.

 

There was a reason for her much more feminine attire. She trekked through the village before coming up to a familiar house. It was much more grand than her own. Ringing the doorbell, Sakila waited until the butler opened the door and ushered her to the family room.

 

"Sakila."

 

"Uncle," she greeted. "I have something to discuss."

 

"What's so important that you couldn't talk to me over the phone like usual? This must be exceptionally interesting!" He grinned and crossed his arms.

 

"Back in the day, did you ever hear about something called a... limitation device?"

 

"Limitation device? No, nothing of the sort. But it sounds powerful."

 

"I think it may have been the influence for the Inhibitor." She explained what she'd read.

 

"Really?" At this, her uncle leaned forward. "It could be very beneficial for us to find out more about it, then.... But I don't think I've ever heard of it." He scratched his bald head. Sakila giggled. He questioned, "What?"

 

"Nothing."

 

"Really now?" Unfolding his arms, her uncle stood up and leaned over the table to come face to face with Sakila. "Listen, all jokes aside, this is important. Find out all you can about this...limitation device from the past. Understood?"

 

"Yes, uncle."

 

"And Sakila? Don't forget your goal."

 

"Of course not."

 

With that, they bid each other farewell. Sakila walked around, wondering what she should do now.

 

Well, if it's a machine, maybe Vivi knows about it. Or has heard about it. Maybe...

 

She took out her cell phone and tapped her way to Vivi's number. They set up a meeting place and Sakila felt happy to have Misaki along as well. The girl was good with metal and that could be a plus. Sakila took a detour, stopping by her apartment and bringing the book she'd found with her. She wasn't planning to show it to Vivi, though. Not yet, at least. But she kept it for reference. Maybe her library contained more books with information about the device. She'd have to look around later.

 

Sakila made her way to Vivi's hideout, finding it empty. She settled down and pulled out some yogurt. Flipping through the book once more, Sakila tried to find some clues. After a short while, she heard noise outside.

 

"Hello?"

 

Sakila immediately slipped the book discreetly back into her purse. "Oh, Vivi, hey."

"Alright, we have some rest. You with the AK, guards the northern border when we camping here" Petya ordered

Sakila greeted when Vivi and Misaki got there.

 

"Sakila! Sakila!" the little bird chirped happily as Sakila smiled back at it. "Hey Kuu~"

 

"So what's up?" Vivi asked.

 

"Hope I'm not in the way~"

 

"Of course not Misaki~ I've wanted to talk to you for ages as well~ It's been long. I wonder how long has it been?"

 

"About a year perhaps."

 

"That's Vivi. Misaki, you left earlier if I'm not wrong."

"Perhaps." Misaki shrugged.

 

"Anyway, what's up?"

 

"Oh yes. I have something I'd like to discuss."

 

"About?"

 

"I was wondering, have you ever heard of an ancient machine which can limit the abilities of a human?"

 

"You mean the inhibitor?"

 

"No nono... I mean... an ancient device... which can make the fastest runners slow, the strongest weak."

 

"..."

 

"Vivi any clue?"

 

"... Any other information?"

 

"Well, apparently it was created in this country they call 'Japan'."

 

"Ah." Vivi and Misaki reacted to the name of the country.

 

"What? Both of you know something?"

 

Both of the girls hesitated, then shook their heads, seemingly trying to remember something important, but just can't hit it.

 

"Nothing comes to mind?"

 

"Are you trying to learn something about the inhibitor?" Vivi asked.

 

"Yea... Just when I thought I had some clue, nobody knows anything about it..."

 

"... Well... if its about the inhibitor instead..."

"What?! Do you know anything about it?!" Sakila suddenly got pretty excited. "TELL ME." 

Misaki and Sakila both leaned closer.

 

"Hmmm..." Vivi shifted her eyes away from the enthusiasm. "Its only a conjecture though... I'm not sure how much of it is true."

 

"Whatever, just tell us."

 

"Well... these are just information I got from a technician in the rebellion-"

"-Ohh you mean Fred?"

"..."

"The youngest guy in the techs whom you always look for~?" Misaki smirked. Sakila raised an eyebrow. "Who?"

"Oh~ Some guy in the rebellion who deals with the technology." Misaki grinned. "Looks like birds of the same feathers flock together."

"..."

"Ooooh." Sakila raised both eyebrows. "Next time I'll sneak in and take a look."

"... No need to sneak. I'll let you meet him some day. He's great with technology and I agree he's quite a genius."

 

"Ooooooh. How rare for you to praise someone." Misaki teased with a blank face. Sakila chuckled.

"..."

"Okay okay~ Let's stop before we get too far from the topic."

"Vivi, continue... What info did he share?"

Ash groaned and sat up, scratching her head. "Dammit, that was weird..." She grumbled to herself about wanting to kick T for controlling her, and made a note to find out about the other guy she'd run into. "Now... where're the others?" She wandered around the base, whistling to herself, as she looked for her teammates. Ash swung by the common room, leaning heavily in the doorway. It smelled like someone had brewed coffee not to long ago... "Oi, anybody 'ere? Just wanted ta know what happened earlier... I'm up an' fine, so I'll be goin' home if it's alright." She turned and walked out, heading to the exit. "Got some sleep, at least... an' that bullet wound doesn't even sting..." She walked through the hall, silently planning her revenge on Petya and Greyfield... and T.

"Sire, what's that?" Petya asked his men. "We will use this to fool the Nubinelle when you and your men went killing spree at them." His men explained. Petya replied with a grin, "It's like fun..."

"Vivi, continue... What info did he share?"

Vivi paused before she explained, "Let's explain a little on the basis of our abilities first..."
Both nodded.
"I'm sure you do know that the basis of our abilities is energy. And to use our abilities, we have to expend the energies... And we all know that we have a limited amount of energy and will die if we actually do use up all the energy..."
They nodded again. This is general knowledge.
Vivi continued, "However, these energies that we expend, they don't just disappear and gone. It is actually only converted into another form of energy, which powers your abilities. Basically, energy cannot be created or destroyed. Also, the only known way to use our abilities is to expend energy. It means we definitely have to expend energy to use our abilities..."
"Okay... That sounds like common sense... So what has this gotta do with T?"
"Well... Now let's go to explanations. Let's describe T's first known ability. Inhibition of another's ability. If T actually is normal and follows the rules of the universe, then it means that he abides by the above points as well. Agreed?"
"Yea." Both nodded.
"Thus, we can conclude that his ability to inhibit doesn't actually work by nullifying or destroying energy, as energy cannot be destroyed." the others raised a brow.
Vivi continued to explain, "We only know that somehow, we are unable to use our abilities, what actually is going on is unknown to us."

Vivi stopped to take a breath. "Well, according to Shortie, there may be a few explanations to his abilities, though it may not be All of it and are based on the assumptions that he is a normal person and not some robot... or something..."

 

"Alright go on..."

"First, since he cannot destroy the energy, let's assume he turns the energy to another form. However, during our battles, we haven't noticed any other forms of abilities or any thing which the energy could have gone to. Also, it seems kind of weird to have expended energy to take away energy. He shouldn't be able to use energy to take in more energy.. He must have some thing which he spent the energy on... Based on this, we can make the second guess, this time, he didn't actually use the energy, but just directed the energy some where else..."
"Somewhere else? How?"
"Yes. Have you heard how a black hole is formed? It may have been the same principle. T could have created a point of energy with high density and it sucks all the nearby energy towards it... or something. If you want to know more, ask that tech guy..."
"Oh okay."
"There is also another explanation... And this one sounds most logical to me. By accident, I actually used the cube durin the battle and it actually did take some energy from me and it somehow managed to release... Which makes me wonder, if T's ability is to transform energies and take in energies, won't that energy be taken away too? Well considering the cube has a impermeable shell, it is understandable, but for it to be released on a gun makes T's ability suspicious."
"Ah! True!"
"Also, T can use so many other abilities which make him super human... Is that even possible?! He can even take over actions of people like in Sparrow's case, and appear and disappear at random... Those abilities are far too different. So, this leads us to think of another scenario. What if T's ability is actually not to control the energy... but actually, the control of the brain?"

"Brain control!?"

"Not exactly... It's hard to explain but something like that... See, if you can control their brain, you can stop them from using their abilities, you can make them do what you want, you can also create illusions to make them see him where he wants to be seen, and he may be able to use this on a huge mass of people at the same time, creating the illusion that his physical body is actually there..."

"But isn't that a little... stretching it. I mean... To control so many people at once... Spending too much energy may deplete his energy and cause him to die..."
"Well, yea... But he he makes use of intelligent weapons and technology. He can easily overcome that. Also, there is this possibility that his abilities actually come from technologies, but that would be out of our scope of assumption. If his abilities actually come from technology, then all the assumptions above would be invalid."

"I see... That's a lot to take in... Ah." Sakila took out some paper and scribbled some of the things discussed. "I can't believe you actually thought out so much..."

"... Yea I can't believe that guy can come up with this too... I thought he can only fix and come up with stuff..."

"He was the one who provided AI to your bird right? He must have been a genius."

Vivi nodded. "Yea. And Kuu's gonna have another upgrade soon."

"Oh wow... I pity him... By the way, after a load of information, I feel hungry... Anywhere you wanna go for lunch?"

"Maybe the cafe we passed?" suggested Misaki. "I hear it's good from some of the others down at HQ."

 

"Works with me!"

 

"I'm ok with that."

 

And with that, they began to walk towards the cafe. Vivi and Sakila engaged in a conversation that seemed to have nothing to do with what had been happening, though on what exactly she wasn't sure. She wasn't paying much attention as her thoughts were still stuck on what they were discussing before.

 

God... So much in one day... First the Inhibitors, then the bombs and now a guy who seems superhuman! Geez... But I wonder what's up with that guy... T... I mean, out of the suggestions Vivi made, one having to do with the brain makes the most sense but Sakila's right about the fact that he would lose a lot of energy...

 

"Misaki?"

 

She snapped out of her thoughts and looked over at the other two. "You ok? You're pretty quiet."

 

Misaki threw a grin on her face. "Yeah," she said. "I'm fine~! Just still trying to process everything that's happened today, ya know?"

 

"I am as well. It was a lot to go through for one day!"

"We're here."

 

"About time! I'm starving!"

[Sakila 88]

"What'll ya have?" A short boy arrived with a notepad and pencil stuck behind his ear.

"No, no, no," the boss repeated from behind the counter. "It's 'What would you like?'"

"Uh, yeah. That. So?"

"Can I have a strawberry parfait here? What do you guys want?"

"Oh, hey, wait a sec, I know you!"

Sakila peered at the boy before realization struck her. "I know you too! Didn't recognize you with formal waiter clothes on. You're that shrimp with the big mouth!"

"And you're that sister with the disgusting appetite, under-eye circles, and useless personality!"

"What are you doing?!" The manager yelled from behind the counter. You don't insult the customers!"

The boy rolled his eyes and continued to take down orders. While Vivi and Misaki gave their orders, Sakila thought about the discussion from earlier.

Brain control, huh? Wait a second. So if it's brain control that was preventing us from using our powers, does that mean the Inhibitor has a different function?

T wouldn't need the Inhibitor to block our abilities if that was the function of his. So maybe, the Inbibitor is... an amplifier? If he amplified his abilities throughout the area using the Inhibitor, then maybe he could do it with less personal energy while also bring able to disguise the true source of the blocking.

Ah, well. It's just speculation. I'm not good at this stuff anyways.

Sakila sighed as the boy walked away, having gotten everyone's orders. Just what in the world was going on?

Ash leaned against the wall outside of a cafe, chewing a toothpick, watching the sky and thinking. She'd been doing that a lot while she was asleep... thinking, there in the darkness of subconsciousness. Just letting herself look over the pat events. She'd followed Sakila, Misaki and Vivi from HQ, intending to ask about the inhibitor... She still couldn't figure out why it hadn't affected her. Was there a limit to how much power it could take in? If so, was there a way to stop it up with an intentional burst of psychic energy? She wanted to talk to Vivi about it but there were two other girls with her, plus the cafe's staff... Ash couldn't be around people she didn't know... What if her dad found out she was still alive? Anybody she had contact with could be in danger... And yet I stay in the rebellion... That was the only way, wasn't it? Ta become Sparrow, erase my family lines, an' never become close ta anyone...

Cursing under her breath, the girl closed her eyes, whistling to herself. She nearly went inside when her stomach growled, but she simply scooted further along the wall, away from the smell of the food inside. I'll never let this war happen, T... This machine'll be taken apart, examined, an' put out of existence, and I'll see those missiles destroyed. The armed forceless 'ave lost their legitimacy in power. Causing fear, pain an' hatred amongst the people of Nubinelle'll not bring back the honor they once 'ad. An' a war... the people'd never remain intact, no matter which side prevailed in the end. The action we must take is not militant, but compassionate. We 'ave ta be the ones ta protect the people. If it's necessary ta fight, I will, but I will never subject the people to the dangers we would bring about in full on warfare...

    She pushed away from the wall, walking past the cafe and heading to the village where she'd met Petya and Greyfield. Ya better be ready, gen'ral. I ain't ever givin' up...

Seeing Sakila sigh, Vivi wondered if what she shared was a little too much. She realized that she didn't exactly explain properly to Sakila what the cube is for and how it worked. Maybe she would another day after they have digested the excessive information.

All three sat down and started having their lunch/dessert. People say sweets give the most energy. Maybe T eats sweets all the time, which could explain why he has so much energy to spare. Vivi licked her spoon clean before dipping it in for another scoop.

Just then, a group of noisy and loud uniformed men walked in. A sudden tension flooded the restaurant. Vivi pulled down her hood and misaki and sakila followed. The entire restaurant turned silent and no one except those men were making any noise. They were people from the armed forces.

'Not good.' Vivi threw a glance at Misaki and Sakila who both understood. They were going to be as low profile as they can so as not to alarm the armed forces. If anything, they might hold a hostage. With so many people around, this isn't a good place for battle. It is lucky that they dont have a uniform.

"Hey waiter!!! Get us some beer!" one of the guys shouted. "Hurry!"

"So-sorry sir, we don't sell beer here..." the owner shook while he replied.

"WHAT!? What restaurants don't sell beer!? Get some for us right now! "

"Bu-"

"Hey SIR." the waiter from earlier responded before the owner can say anything. Oh dear. Smells like trouble.. "Don't you have eyes to read the menu? This is a fruit and coffee cafe. We only sell fruit and coffee related beverages. No beer. It's either you order from the menu or leave."

"...Huhhhh?! What did you just say to me?" the soldier frowned.

"Oh god." Sakila whispered, Misaki sighed, Vivi facepalmed.

"Nonono. I'm so sorry! I'll get you some good beer immediately!" the owner immediately turned to the waiter and smacked his head before yelling at him. "What are you standing there for!? Get the h*** out there and get some beer!"

"Heh that's much better. We want 3 bottles each. Oh get some playing cards and some girls while you're at it would ya~ HAhahaha~

The boy cursed under his breath before being pushed out of the restaurant by the owner.

"... What an irritating bunch."

"Always hated them."

"..." Vivi stared down her cup of parfait. (Yes her parfait is special :V)

"Oh hey there~" one of the soldiers turned to the three of them.

'Oh shit.'

One got up and walked over. They probably saw Sakila and Misaki. Both are beauties in their own right. Vivi continued to stay hidden under her hood.

"Heya~ can we sit beside you ladies?" the guy plopped down right in between Misaki and Sakila. The other two guys followed and crowded around the table. "Oh brother... Don't you get tired of doing this everyday? Hahaha~"

"Heya~ Wanna go out with me for today? I'll treat ya good~" the guy inched closer to Misaki and Sakila who both got their punches ready to fire.

"Humph." Vivi closed her eyes and gave a perfectly aimed kick from the bottom. It hit.

"Ow-owwwwwowowow! You-you- what the heck are you doing!?" the guy grabbed the injury in pain. "I'm gonna-gonna kill you--owowowow."

"Haha brother, looks like you're out of luck today. We'll help you out~"

The other guys inched closer. "Ohoh.. You're a girl as well~ Sorry we didn't realize with your hood on." another of the soldier said. "You're angry that our brother only paid attention to your friends right?" the guy placed a hand on Vivi. "No worries~ You know what? I love Lolitas like yo-OWWWWWW!"

Vivi gave a harder kick. Touching her is forbidden. Some words are too.

"Humph!" Vivi stood up and walked out of the restaurant followed by Misaki and Sakila.

"Hey wait you bi*****!!! We're gonna kill you!" the soldiers yelled and chased them out of the restaurant.

"Hey Vivi wait up!"

"..."

"What a good way of not paying the bill!"

"I was gonna punch them earlier on if Vivi hadn't kick him. But that kick was awesome."

Vivi sighed.

"By the way, Misaki, Vivi... What do you want to do with the guys behind?" Sakila turned around and pointed at the soldiers who are chasing them with guns on their hands.

"Just to get them out of the restaurant." replied Vivi. Her bird flew out of her hood and landed on her head. Vivi switched on the power of her new platform shoes. Misaki and Sakila both got into their battle mode and ready to fight.

As Ash was nearing the open street she heard a loud commotion from the cafe she'd just left. Dammit, Vi's in there! Adjusting her bandages and pulling her cap down over her dark green hair she dd a quick about face and took off back toward the restaurant. As she rounded a corner she spotted the three girls leaving, with some shouting idiots in close pursuit. The hell?!

 

   Upon closer inspection she realized the loud idiots were loud armed forces idiots. For a moment she debated on whether to reveal herself to the girls. Sure, it would delay her in reaching the army base, but maybe she could drag info out of one of the guys. If she could scare 'em off without letting them know Vi was a rebel, maybe there wouldn't be any later trouble.

 

 Stepping from the shadows with her hands in her pockets, she bit her toothpick in half, giving her signature whistle. "Well, looks like some o' the forceless're misbehavin'. Wouldn't yer precious Greyfield love ta hear about it?" She smiled crookedly, nodding to the three girls.

 

"I dunno what ya think yer doin', but I'm pretty sure yer botherin' my friends." Her gloves and eyes began to glow as Reaper's Touch started charging. "An' I wouldn't do that, 'cause in case ya hadn't noticed, I'm the little sh** that pounded the crap outta Petya yesterday..." Darkness overshadowed her as she gave the men her iciest stare.

 

"Unless ya step away from 'em an' drop yer little toys, ya might 'ave ta tell the gen'ral 'bout why some chick sent ya back in full body casts..."

As Vivi and the rest were about to strike, Sparrow joined in and took the attention away from those guys.

The soldiers took a step back. "Oh-oh... I-it's Sparrow from the rebellion... ah-haha-ha-erm.. we-we'll take our leave then... if-if you don't mind..." The three small-lings turned to leave. 

 

"Ah- wait up." Sparrow pulled one of them back by their collar. "Do you know where is Petya?"

 

"You-ou mean General Pety-ya? Erm..ermm... I-I don't know."  the soldier looked away.

 

Sparrow raised an eyebrow and grabbed his collar harder.

 

"Ahhh! I'll tell you! I'll tell you! He-he's at the base now... bu-but he-he's coming here in a few hours time..."

 

"For?"

 

"I-I don't know! We-we were supposed to be stationing here to-to help out."

 

"Hrm!?" Sparrow stared fiercely at the soldier.

 

"I-I think they-they may be thinking of-of blowing up explosives or missiles or something! That's all I know! Really!" 

 

"R'ght." Sparrow dropped the shaking soldier and he scurried off like an ant.

 

"Humph, that was impressive Sparrow." Vivi commented after the AF soldier ran. "It seems like your name has penetrated the AF. I'll remember to use it next time when anything happens."

 

"Not the time to joke around Vivi..." Sakila frowned. "Did you hear what he said? Missiles? Explosives? This isn't good. We need to hurry and evacuate the people here! And we need to inform the higher ups to prepare for battle and get some troops over here as soon as possible. Oh yea by the way, thanks Sparrow."

 

Vivi shrugged and turned the power on her shoes off. Need to save it for a few hours later. A faint smile surfaced on Vivi's face.

"Not the time to joke around Vivi..." Sakila frowned. "Did you hear what he said? Missiles? Explosives? This isn't good. We need to hurry and evacuate the people here! And we need to inform the higher ups to prepare for battle and get some troops over here as soon as possible. Oh yea by the way, thanks Sparrow."

 

"No problem," Sparrow replied, giving a slight nod.

 

"I'll call the Rebellion's HQ about the info," Misaki said. "Sakila, can you take call the Battalion HQ and have them send people to help start evacuating residents in the area?"

 

"Already on it."

 

Misaki grabbed her phone, speed dialing the Rebellion leader. The other end rang a few times before an answer came.

 

"Hello?"

 

"It's me."

 

"Helpful. So what do you need Misaki?"

 

"It's a long story, so I'll just cut to the chase. Sparrow threatened some info out of an Armed Forces guy. Looks like Petya and his forces are going to be where Vivi, Sakila, Sparrow and I are in a few hours. They're bringing some explosives as well."

 

"Damnit! Where are you exactly?"

 

Misaki quickly recited the address of the cafe where they had been. "Got it?"

 

"Yep. Sending people over there now to be ready to fight."

 

"Send some more as well to help with evacuating. I've got Sakila getting some Battalion people over here to help, but we're closer. So please?"

 

"Got it. Are you going to start evacuation?"

"Probably."

 

"Be careful."

 

"When am I never?"

 

"Almost never."

 

She laughed as she felt a tap on her shoulder. She turned, looking at the person who was tapping her. "Can I talk to Jackson for a minute?"

 

"Sure," she said. "Boss? You still there?"

 

"Yep."

 

"Good. Handing you over to someone else. They want to talk to you."
