THIS THREAD is used to discuss about SPOILERS. In other words, if you only read the English version and wish to wait for the official release instead of getting spoiled, this is NOT the right place for you!

RULES OF THE SPOILER-ONLY DISCUSSION THREAD:

4. NO DIRECT LINK to Original Japanese scans (RAWs) or to ANY English manga scan because we don't want to have any problem with lawyers. (Japanese spoiler pictures are allowed as long as the amount and quality of which are very very far away from a full scan, like the ones we usually have).

2. Why do I still have to use Spoiler boxes here?

A: In case some member (who only follows the English files) get confused, misclick, or just simply get in the wrong thread... etc., this rule is made NOT to let spoilers get revealed to them. And since this is quite complicated, confusions are unavoidable, especially for new members.

3. How do I use Spoiler boxes anyway?

A: Just simply type the following:

[spoiler]Text you want to write [/spoiler]

Or more manually:

Step 1: Click the "Special BBCode" icon at the upper-left side of the edit toolbar.

 

Step 2: In BBCode, select "Spoiler".

 

Step 3: Enter the text that you want to put inside Spoiler boxes, then click OK.

4. If the spoiler is not obvious enough to viewers (e.g. one must click a link in order to see it), do I have to use Spoiler boxes?

A: No, using link addresses is also a hiding method. Again the purpose of this is just to protect the spoilers and info. from being viewed by members who do not want to see them (but get in here by accident). However, you should STATE CLEARLY that it's a spoiler, just to make sure.

5. Can I join the discussion in the other thread as well?

A: Of course you can. HOWEVER, as mentioned in the rules above, you MUST NOT reveal, give hints or talk about ANYTHING that spoils.

6. Who are you anyway? Why do we have to follow YOUR rules?

A: Not mine. Chek suggested that it should be this way. Also, the person who create the threads must write the rules clearly on the very first post from now on, whether they want it or not; this applies to every member (not only me).

ANYWAY, everyone should read this whole post carefully before posting or viewing anything. If you are mistaken for not paying attention to it, the creator of the thread, the moderators and every other forum members will NOT take any responsibility.

I suppose the two bets are the main focus right now. Kid wouldn't have bothered to approach Sonoko to make a bet if only needed her appearance. He would just knock her out and stuff her somewhere if that was the case. Same goes for needing Sonoko's voice as well. Kid must need Sonoko's cooperation too. Besting Makoto is the most logical reason for this, although Kid will be trying to trick Sonoko into creating the appropriate circumstances.

Tomoko's bet with Makoto is going to be something she thinks Makoto won't be able to achieve because she is trying to make a reason to force him away. Catching/Unmasking Kid is pretty logical, but I don't think that is the only option for her, she was the one who planned the pearl protection after all.

It would make sense for Kid to disguise as Sonoko at some point, since she is pretty much the only one safe from Makoto's wrath.

I was saying the opposite: it doesn't make sense to make a bet with Sonoko if all he needs is her voice. The thing Kid is holding is a cellphone jammer.

But why can't Tomoko be Kid disguised? At the end of the file he says to Sonoko "Might I also persuade you..." like if the other bet with Makoto was made by him too. Or maybe it's just how Gosho wrote it.

haven't posted here for a long time. bad at discussion, but let's try.

 

i think "might I also persuade you", the "also" is there not because kid was tomoko, but because kid was "resting his wings". therefore kid is asking for another favor after being allowed to rest his wings.

 

makoto can't be beat by kid in a 1 v. 1. gas mask blocks sleeping gas. hand-to-hand, kid lose. since makoto is wearing the jewel, how will kid get it off of him without getting his attention? i don't see point in disguising as sonoko, once cover blown, kid will be in trouble. sonoko's identity may have a few security clearances but not sure.

 

makoto may be hesitant to hit the face of the girl he is trying to protect. but since kid can't beat makoto feasibly, he need trick. likely the second favor, see below.

 

so the two favors. not sure what the first one with tomoko could be, going with chek on that one. again, tomoko probably not kid. not impossible, but i think that the encounters between makoto and tomoko and kid and sonoko are near the same time. just a guess.

 

of course the second bet will involve sonoko doing something at the scene of the heist. that may be meaning of "icing on the cake", that sonoko gets to do something else on top of watching the showdown. but that something is likely the trick, to tip tables that kid can win. need more information but could be retrieving something? maybe a kiss? obviously there will be development in the makoto x sonoko pairing in this case. therefore i think kid's bet may be relating to a kiss. but can't tell at this point.

 

fun thing: if makoto wins, he becomes the second person to defeat kid in a 1 on 1. hope that happens, because i like makoto and don't like kid.

hey, I just found raws for the next two chapters (863 & 864), I didn’t know the scanlators were a few chapters behind. what’s cool is that DC has full furigana, so reading it is really easy, I think I may get more active in these topics as I’m reading the raws. anyway, on page 14 of ch.863, Sonoko tells Makoto “I’m wearing this dress, so don’t forget!”. that sounds to me like a hint to the fact that Kaito is gonna disguise as Sonoko, and Sonoko tried to give a hint to Makoto in figuring out the disguise.

edit:　ｂeen reading the raw, this is what I understand from the “bet” Kaito did with Sonoko, very roughly：

“tell your uncle that if I’m able to steal the Green Emperor, I’d like to exchange it for one work of art of my choosing from the ones the Suzuki are preserving” though I’m not sure I got that right, and it doesn’t really sound like a bet…

edit: Makoto’s bet with Sonoko’s mom:

predictably, Sonoko’s mom says that if Makoto loses to Kaito, she won’t allow their relationship (Makoto×Sonoko), more or less

edit: well, as the raws have already concluded this arc, it kind of feels pointless to be spoilering. fun fact:

apparently Ran’s index finger is longer than her anular, opposite for Sonoko
