tengaku squared 291 Report post Posted September 1, 2013 Setting: Every generation, a group of individuals are gifted with a special essence, energy, that allows them to harness a force to shape the world. This force is...magic. A previously little understood force, a young man by the name of Ein laid out the foundations of magic in his first two volumes of research: the Prototype and Duality. Now, in this modern day, Ein's studies are continued on by similarly young and magically gifted individuals in prestigious schools around the globe. You are a student at Gretchen High, one of the most prestigious magic schools in the world. Eager to begin your studies, you walk through the enormous double doors into the school itself. A large statue of Ein immediately catches your sight, with classrooms stretching out from both sides of the statue. The sounds of soft pencil scratching hum through the air. Heading to the headmaster's office on the third floor, you get a quick glance of the second floor, which house residential dorms. Two boys tease a smaller boy. A girl sits in the corner scribbling in her notebook. You make it up the flights of stairs, and into the headmaster's office. The headmaster isn't here, so you nervously leave your paperwork on the desk and quickly leave. On the way, you catch a glimpse of a book titled Revelations, perched neatly on a musical stand. Revelations, Ein's third and final book. Only 5 pages long. The writing inside, blood-red, scrawled on the paper with little regard for proper penmanship. The writing inside, a warning. The warning: It comes. The Spirits, led by their ringmaster. On the fated day, the whole world will become its circus. There is nothing we can do. Walpurgis Night is coming. Background Information: Ein A gifted young individual who was also magically talented. Author of Prototype, Duality, and Revelations. After writing his third book, he set his house on fire and burned with it. Many magical researchers today revere his works, and his mysterious suicide, as well as the warning in Revelations, are a subject of intense debate today. Prototype Ein's first book. Laid the foundations of magic theory. Proposed the five element circle of fire, water, wind, earth, and lightning. These five elements, Ein suggested, acted in balance, with one element canceling another. Suggested that mana was energy from nature. Duality Ein's second book. Suggested a dual magical system that remains in place today. The five element circle is part of what Ein dubbed Reality, and there existed a second aspect of magic, which Ein called Possibility. Ein described Reality as the world we interact with. Possibility, Ein suggested, consisted of the past and future, as well as "things not real". Revelations Ein's final book. Unusual in that in contained a simple warning about a potential doomsday on a "Walpurgis Night". The writing is rumored to be written in Ein's own blood. Researches have noted that in the original copy, there was evidence of many pages being ripped out, suggesting that Revelations was originally much longer. Characters: Drake Tonate The headmaster of Gretchen high. A tall, large, imposing figure, and is quite strict. The student body, in general, fears him. However, he is rarely at the school, and often goes on research trips. He is renowned for his mastery of all five element types, and is a skilled magician. He claims little interest in magic's workings, but his bookshelf is filled with complex books on magic theory. June Cykes A rather small, unimposing girl. A girl of incredible intellect, and claims to have found a problem in Ein's dual magic system, and proposed the existence of a third section called Identity, to form the triangle magic system. Is a professor of the course Triangle Magic Theory. Somewhat introverted. Besides her intelligence and incredible knowledge of magic theory, June is also skilled with wind-type spells. (This character is the girl scribbling in her notebook mentioned in the setting.) Ruth Seeker A hyperactive young woman who is also a professor at Gretchen High. Obsessed with Ein's Revelations, and has pledged her life to decode its secrets. In particular, Ruth has searched for the Spirits mentioned in Revelations. She hypothesizes that Spirits are ethereal beings made of pure mana. She teaches the course Spirits 1A at Gretchen. She has requested for further Spirit courses, but it appears that will never happen, as the courses are unpopular among the staff. Kavin Chills A thin, young man with disinctive blue hair. Is a discplinary supervisor and handles rowdy students. He is infamous for his methods of discipline, which typically involve freezing his victims. Has a poetic style of speech. A master of ice-type spells. His speciality of ice branches off a mastery of water; however, ice magic is completely genetic, and cannot be learned, only passed down. Rules: > Pretty much standard DCW IRL rules. There is one exception: > I will be checking for inactivity every 2 days. This does not mean that you will be kicked for being inactive for 2 days. That just means I will note if you happen to be inactive. If the inactivity becomes excessive, I will kick you. But in general, I'll be a bit more lenient with inactivity. What's Happening This Round: There are a few things in the works for DCW IRL, including something I hope gets here before this round begins, but something else that's on my mind is personal NPCs. We haven't seen them around recently, and I want to test them out in this round. I'm going to be quite lax in regards to moderation this round. I gave you guys the setting, now I want to see what you can do with it in 1 month. There won't be any other gimmicks this round, so people that didn't like my previous round can come back and sign up. Please? How to Signup: Signups will now be accepted until October 20, 2013, 12:00 A.M Mountain Time. NO MORE SIGNUPS ARE BEING TAKEN. Signups will be decided through lottery. By random, I will pick a group of people that sign-up through PM or comment on my profile as participants. Everyone has equal chances, regardless of previous experience, skill, or my personal preference. The only thing that will influence your chances is signing up early. That will set your chances at -1. I request standard stuff, like a generic profile, with your sign-up, but it's not necessary for sign-ups. Though, if you plan to do so, please don't signup through comment. tengaku squared 291 Report post Posted September 6, 2013 Roleplayers: Misaki-chan Name: Misaki Mimori Age: 14 Description: Raven colored hair (tied back into ponytail), light blue eyes, pale, 5'8, wearing a white blouse with black pants and flats Personality: Gives off a cute/innocent air, is a rather prideful person, very rational, charismatic, likes to be prepared for anything, curious, adapts well to most environments, can be very hard on herself, very loyal to people she cares about to a fault, can act cold, rude and even violent in times of great stress Background/Abilities: Not much is known about her time before Gretchen High. For Misaki, wind and water are her strongest elements. Since she is a dancer at heart, the fluidness of the elements makes it easier for her to control. Fire is something she can control, though not as well as water and wind, so she doesn't use it as much. Lightening and earth are difficult to her, and has only mastered a few of the basics. Ren-kun Name: Devin Song Age: 18 Hair: Black, kept short and slicked back, and closely maintained by a variety of hair products. He's very fussy and vain when it comes to his hair and makes sure that it has a certain 'sheen' to it before going out. Eyes: Large, almost perfectly round expressive eyes in a deep brown color reminiscent of cognac. His eyelashes are longer than normal too giving him the look of a doll. General Appearance Notes: Stands at 5'5", has pale skin likened to porcelain, and has an upturned mouth. Almost never seen without wearing his over-sized moss-colored trench coat over a dark green dress shirt and yellow and green plaid pants. He also wears tortoise shell glasses and has the distinctive musky smell of men's perfume. This is all to try and conceal his less than intimidating features. Background/Personality: Born to a family of scholars aiming to decode Ein's ominous Revelations, Devin thinks highly of himself and his lineage. From a very young age, he has been very sheltered and has been showered with praises because of him being naturally gifted at magic and being quite intelligent. He never had hobbies and fun stuff to do, always having his nose buried in a book about magic. Growing up without establishing healthy relationships with actual people caused him to view every person he meets as a nuisance for whatever task he has at hand. Prideful, snobbish and uptight, he is almost always rude to everyone who approaches him, if only to make them leave him alone out of their own will. On the flipside, he's reliable, determined and would be extremely loyal to anyone who manages to rope in his respect. Ablities: Unlike most people invited to Gretchen High, Devin has minimal control and power over three of the elements, namely fire, water and wind. Having said that, he has completely mastered wielding the element of earth and is considered to be one of the best at it, if not the best. Like his unshakable principles, his skillful use of the element manifests itself in strong and steady vibrations of energy and he shows no difficulty in handling it. Lightning is out of the question for him, as he's deathly afraid of it. His main weakness is that he relies too much on the theoretical principles of magic causing him to be unable to act spontaneously and change his course of action in a snap. Red Angel Name: Garnet Wisteria Gender, Age: Female, 17. Hair: Curly/wavy and orange, tapered to red at the tips. Short cropped, barely touching her neck with bangs falling into her eyes. Eyes: Sharp, narrow and yellow. Usually surrounded in blue eyeliner, one of two makeup products she'll wear. Other features: She wears a green scarf tied at her neck that she doesn't like to take off. Garnet also has freckles across her face and wears pink and red lipstick. Biography: Garnet was born under the sign of Aquarius, but has never been able to manipulate wind. It wasn't until she was 15 that she discovered her abilities, and she was only granted the transfer to Gretchen High a week before the start of the year. She was always into music more than anything, and became somewhat rebellious as a teen. As such, she's been to three boarding schools between middle school and her acceptance into Gretchen High. Abilities/Personality: Garnet has the ability to manipulate the magics of Reality. Wind escapes her, and she can't get water to obey her, but she has a strong grasp of fire and lightning. Earth is a toss up on whether she can summon it. Heat is her forte, and she can set fire to most anything or cause lightning to strike in her place of choice during a storm. However, she has little experience, and tends to let the elements run wild under a loose control. If in a jam she could probably get fire to come to her aid the fastest, but not without burning a few non-target items. Her power is released in large, powerful bursts and is more destructive than helpful, best not used in delicate situations. Garnet is a wild card. She does whatever's in her own best interests, preferring music to the company of others. She has a strong sense of justice and will jump in to a conflict to protect another person. Hating any kind of attachment from others, she'll brush off any help because it was 'only because she likes to fight.' She tends to start arguments because she has no filter between honesty and tact, and she's very open about her opinions of people. Despite her rough and tumble attitude and harsh magic style, Garnet has a love for the beauty of magic and nature. Anime Girl 4 Eva (dropped out) Name: Sasaki Saki Age: 16 Appearance: Messy black hair; large round glasses; wears a long white coat, jeans, sneakers, and a variety of colorful rings; has a pen tucked behind her ear Personality: Scatterbrained to the point of plain stupid sometimes, Saki interacts with people around her as openly as possible. She will often disregard formality and speak her thoughts aloud, which happen to be a jumble of unrelated fragments. Whenever she remembers something or receives a spark of inspiration, she'll respond with a sudden, "Ah!" Background/Abilities: Saki is a curious bookworm and learned magic textbook-style. Not as naturally gifted as some of the other students, she spent years training to hone her skills. Therefore, she has no affinity for a specific element and can control all of them. She prefers lightning however and uses it most. She thinks lightning is an "outcast", like her. Usui-kun Aster Lawrence, 15, a male. Dresses in a black polo shirt, black denims and black sneakers. Collects lots of dice, always has them on hand. Aster personality seems crazy on the outside, but inside he is composed and rationally carries out what others deem as crazy. He likes to get on people's nerves, dislikes it when people act stupid. He doesn't forgive not using common sense. Aster was the apprentice to a magician who excelled at potions for most of his life. He had no parents to begin with, all he remembers is growing up in a crazy magical chemical laboratory with a slightly batty young man. Aster helped him write the thesis the magician became famous for, but decided not to credited and demanded to use some of the funds the magician had received to experience school. Aster can manipulate all elements, but can only use simpler spells for earth and fire. He doesn't show off since he practiced by himself insanely from childhood. He is a big fan of Bruce Lee and carries multiple photos bearing Bruce's quotes in his wallet. Nara-chan placeholder NPC: Rouge Same body size as Aster, vibrant red hair, albino skin, scarlet eyes, red t-shirt, dark red pants, crimson shoes. Rouge was fascinated by that Aster had lived most of his life in a lab and wondered if he would test a new candy flavor for him. Aster had come to a city for the first time and was surprised by this friendly stranger and complied, but Rouge ended up switching the candy with a drug which causes a 180 degree turn in personality. Johannes Age: 18 Gender: Male Hair: Long, silver hair loosely braided and left over his right shoulder. Long bangs that hide his eyes when he lowers his head. Eyes: Narrow, red. They have a devilish shine to them when he's thinking. Appearance: His skin is pale and clear, and his hair's long, but his thick silver eyebrows give away his gender. He wears a white and red Chinese- style shirt and baggy black trousers. He has one earring, a gold helix cuff, and paints his nails black. (He's weird and I'm making him up as I go xPP) He only takes his hair out of the braid to sleep. Anyone who messes with it gets pummeled. Personality: Jovial, cruel, and calculating, Johannes has been a top trickster at Gretchen High for 3 years. He's referred to as Loki, after the trickster God of Norse myth, by most people who tolerate him, and has a bad rep among teachers despite his B-grade schoolwork. He's the president of the school's Anime Club, but other than that stays out of extracurriculars. He's also a bit of a flirt, known to play pranks especially on girls he finds cute, which always results in his failure to get on her good side. (Perhaps he'll annoy Misaki, or mistake effeminate Devin for a girl xD) Powers/Etc: Despite his fooling, Johannes has a firm grasp of all Elements except fire. His specialty is Earth, which he can control almost effortlessly and without motion. He takes advantage of this when playing tricks on others, enjoying the surprised faces of classmates as a tree root grabs their foot, or a lifeless object follows them around. He doesn't enjoy fighting or practicing, but will do what he has to in order to get a break to goof off in. Currently he's interested in the activities of the "Newbies" he's seen getting in trouble all day, and followed speech-skipping Garnet through the forest. Jin Name: Jin KimAge: 19 Hair: Cut in a sloppy bowl shape that's been likened to a mushroom one too many times. Has a warm honey blonde color peppered with streaks of gray due to strenuous brain activity. Unkempt but oddly doesn't come off as messy to most. Eyes: Narrow and squinted, giving off the impression that they're closed. The corners of his eyes are slightly turned upwards, making him look like he's always smiling with them. The pupils are black in color. Other Appearance details: 5'10", overall has notably tiny features except for his eyebrows which are thick and bushy. Has clear skin. Has an unimpressive-looking miniature crystal ball hung around his neck in a thin silver chain that gives him erratic and choppy visions of the near future, though they're always negative. Wears a white dress shirt buttoned up to the collar, a plain black necktie, white slacks, black dress shoes and a black beret. Dislikes dressing up fancily. Has a rather large burn mark on his right forearm. Personality: Largely unassuming and humble, no one would ever guess that he's the student council president at first glance. On the same vein, that's mostly the reason why he got elected in the first place. He's polite, a bit of a clumsy klutz, sweet and genuinely never has a bad thing to say about anyone. Could be a bit too giving and submissive at times, which makes him easy to get taken advantage of. Not the typical leader type but would risk everything for the betterment of the institution. However, he has a strong sense of work ethic, responsible despite his tendency to trip over nothing and arguably has the most extensive knowledge of general magic in the entire school. A proven technical genius, he has a good head on his shoulders when it comes to calling the shots and making decisions. He cracks horrible puns and his general sense of humor isn't funny at all. Abilities: Air is his main element, and he could manipulate it to be able to soar in mid-air and treat the projection of energy as makeshift wings. He has a good grasp on the other elements as well, barring fire which he vowed never to wield again after causing an incident that almost took his life. Has an artifact that could make him see snippets of what's gonna come. Could summon flocks of birds to be used as extra assistance is times of crisis. She tends to start arguments because she has no filter between honesty and tact, and she's very open about her opinions of people. Despite her rough and tumble attitude and harsh magic style, Garnet has a love for the beauty of magic and nature. Gretchen High, huh? It's one of the most prestigious magic schools in the world, and even I got accepted... Garnet slipped through the huge double doors and paused to fix her yellow eyes on the statue taking up a prominent place in the hall. It was of Ein, the famed author who'd burned in his own home after publishing his works... She looked past what she considered a dark memorial and noted the classrooms' placements.Walking on with a sigh at the waste Ein had made of what could have been a long life with even more contributions to the world of Magic, she noted the echoing sound of pencil on paper, distracted for a moment with thoughts of how revelations could be written at any given moment with just the right circumstances. Enjoying the sound of her heavy boots on the stairs as she climbed, Garnet glanced around the second floor. A girl in the corner turned out to be the writer she'd heard, scribbling away in a notebook. She gave a glare at two boys who appeared to be less than hospitable to a younger boy. With her red lips curved into a mischievous smirk, the orange-haired girl lifted a hand, resting her gaze on the students. A rush of static electricity flowed over the two bullies, making their hair stick out at the most ridiculous angles possible and causing them to jump about as small jolts nipped at them. Garnet sighed, having almost decided to set their pants aflame, but decided the punishment was fit. She didn't want to spend another first day explaining to a bunch of administrators how her public enemies had 'accidentally' caught fire. Especially since at this school she didn't carry matches to cover up the use of magic, and she figured high-ups would be able to tell who'd cast what on whom. With a chuckle at the 'dance' of the two boys, she rushed up the stairs, hoping they hadn't seen or suspected her. As much as she liked picking fights with jerks, in a school of people who'd been using magic all their lives she'd have a more difficult time beating two guys she didn't know the strength of. Frowning at her hesitance, Garnet played with the end of her green scarf, finally making it up the steps. Floor three, the headmaster's office... "Uh, anyone here?" She looked around, wondering if the headmaster could pop out of walls or paintings like in movies, but the office looked devoid of life. Garnet gave a shrug and a sigh, setting her paperwork in a neat pile atop some similar-looking documents. Then she picked it back up and adjusted the stack to make the corners more even. Vigorously trying to smooth a large crease on one of her papers, she grumbled to herself and immediately regretted it as the edge of the stack caught fire. "Crap!" Garnet grabbed the corner and choked the flame out with her hand, leaving another pink burn on her palm and a black, singed edge on each page of her documents. Her OCD was about to give her a heart attack. With a heavy sigh she reorganized the pages and dropped them back onto the desk. At least all the corners look the same now... Garnet's gaze lingered on the desk stacked high with papers before pausing on a music stand as she took her leave. There was a single book standing on it, titled 'Revelations.' If her minimal studies were correct, that was the name of Ein's final publishing, with the rumored warnings in blood red ink... She hadn't heard what was to be wary of, but she'd read enough conspiracy theories to figure there was nothing too serious in Revelations. After all, wasn't it theory and textbook material like the others? Dismissing the strange display of what she thought was one of three interesting but harmless books, Garnet headed back down the stairs, knowing that if she lingered she'd either sneak a peek at the book or start feeling paranoid about the empty room. Wondering what to do, she decided to take a look at the small chaos she'd hoped to cause on floor two. If they're still at it, maybe I will set their pants on fire. Hehe. Misaki-chan 164 Report post Posted October 22, 2013 Misaki strolled onto the premises of Gretchen High, a smile on her face. Finally! Joining the best of the best! It had been several months ago, but it felt like only yesterday that she had received the letter from the prestigious magic school to join their student body. Remembering the looks of pure joy on her parents faces that day as she passed one of the statues of Ein made her grin even bigger. It didn't take her long to reach the headmaster's study since she had looked up a map of the school the week before and made sure to memorize the layout. As she laid her registration papers onto the desk, she noticed that another student's registration paper were a tad burnt around the edges. I wonder what happened there. She made her way back to the door when she noticed a book perched on a music stand. Revelations. Misaki knew she should pry into other people's stuff, especially the headmaster's things, but the curiosity was too much. A peek wouldn't hurt, now would it? Carefully, the girl lifted the cover open, reading the blood red words. It comes. The Spirits, led by their ringmaster. On the fated day, the whole world will become its circus. There is nothing we can do. Walpurgis Night is coming. She quickly closed it, suddenly feeling a chill run down her spine. "I should get going," she muttered quietly to herself as she hurried out of the study, the words still imprinted in her mind. ~~~ Bio: Name: Misaki Mimori Age: 14 Description: Raven colored hair (tied back into ponytail), light blue eyes, pale, 5'8, wearing a white blouse with black pants and flats Personality: Gives off a cute/innocent air, is a rather prideful person, very rational, charismatic, likes to be prepared for anything, curious, adapts well to most environments, can be very hard on herself, very loyal to people she cares about to a fault, can act cold, rude and even violent in times of great stress Background/Abilities: Not much is known about her time before Gretchen High. Ren-kun 50 Report post Posted October 22, 2013 Name: Devin Song Age: 18 Hair: Black, kept short and slicked back, and closely maintained by a variety of hair products. Lightning is out of the question for him, as he's deathly afraid of it. His main weakness is that he relies too much on the theoretical principles of magic causing him to be unable to act spontaneously and change his course of action in a snap. His head held high in nothing but a self-righteous manner and his posture ridiculously on point, Devin Song must have looked like one of Gretchen High's rumored to be strict professors. It was evident in the way that he effortlessly cut through the convened little groups of students littered all over the hall, as if they were paving the way especially for him. Lingering gazes followed by hushed conversations were thrown around him. Not that it fazed the boy though. If anything, one of his expectations had come true. The 'lessers' he was going to go to school with were nothing but hormone-addled teenagers. He continued to walk with a steady and brisk pace, occasionally meeting the glances of people and returning the courtesy with an icy glare. One male student however, who didn't take well to Devin's air of arrogance and wasn't complacent on doing nothing about it, flung what appeared to be a tomato directly at Devin's head. Thankfully it stopped short and came in contact with the boy's shoulder instead. Contrary to what people might have expected, Devin turned around to face the boy, his mouth curling into a taunting smirk. "Satisfied? Expect to see a filed formal complaint against you, you barbaric filthy plebeian." Without missing a beat, he continued on to his destination. Ascending a flight of stairs, Devin caught glimpse of two boys who were seemingly harassing another boy who was much smaller in stature. Pathetic. Anyone who couldn't stand up for themselves deserved to be treated that way as far as he's concerned. It was terribly ironic of him to think that way, as he basically insulted someone who did stand up for himself mere moments ago but he couldn't help it. He was always right after all. Or at least that's what he thought. Upon going through another flight of stairs, Devin had no trouble locating where the headmaster's study was. He set his paperwork onto the handsome desk, all the while finding pleasure in mocking the supposed 'educational system' the school boasted of. Sure it was supposedly the best school for magic but he didn't see anything that made him agree with what the reputation of Gretchen High suggested. His eyes wandering all across the entire room, the book perched on the musical stand piqued his interest immediately. It was all too familiar. Hell, it was his own version of a bedtime story book throughout his childhood years. He opened the book with little regard for delicacy and a knowing look of glee appeared on his face. Devin recited the words, not needing the book to read them off of. He knew the enigmatic sentences by heart. It comes. The Spirits, led by their ringmaster. On the fated day, the whole world will become its circus. There is nothing we can do. Walpurgis Night is coming. He closed the book and returned it to where he found it, exited the room and proceeded to walk to his assigned dorm. It was time for him to keep more people at arm's length. Rukia Kurosaki 357 Report post Posted October 22, 2013 ((Just a note, our three characters' abilities combined are pretty much a perfect use of all 5 elements xD High fives)) Garnet leaned on the railing of the second floor stairwell, listening to the footsteps of two other students pass on the way up to the headmaster's office. She cackled quietly to herself at the still-afflicted victims of her static spell. Thank you, Lightning. The smaller boy was now rushing down the stairs past her, and her red smile widened at his relieved look. Since nobody'd seen her cast anything on the bullies, she'd keep her image and stay out of the administrators' black books. But a whispered, "Thank you," as he passed shattered her smugness. It could have been her imagination, but she felt an air of gratitude that she longed to smother in apathy. Garnet turned her yellow glare on the kid as he continued down the steps, "Tch, I just like watchin' 'em," she called, frowning deeply as her comment was waved off. Looking back at the two taller boys, she noticed that her trick was wearing off. They were no longer yelping or twitching, and they'd noticed the yell of the orange-haired girl who'd been laughing as she watched them suffer. "Hehe, best I stay outta trouble," she laughed, vaulting over the edge of the staircase. Garn caught the edge of the railing with her right hand, using it to swing down onto the first floor steps and out of the punks' sight. Slipping through the crowd of students with a degree of skill, she ducked into the first restroom she found, deciding to fix her makeup in the mirror. Re-applying the blue liner evenly took a couple minutes, and she added a little extra to accent her narrow glare. With a smile on beneath her blood-red lipstick, she played with the red tips of her short, wavy hair, figuring she'd wasted enough time for the 'hoodlums' as she liked to call them to have disappeared. Risking being recognized but figuring she could take them if she was, Garnet let her curiosity take over and dashed back up the stairs to the headmaster's office. Luckily no one knew anything of her, so she was neither hindered nor called to on the way. Glancing around to alleviate her suspicions of being watched, the fire-user tiptoed into what could have been a private library were it not for the desk covered in paperwork. She noted that two stacks of paper were set on her own burnt-edged documents, and before deciding to check out 'Revelations' she snuck a peek at the students' records. A younger girl named Misaki had been the first set of footsteps. From her writings she seemed pleasant enough, and Garnet made a note to look out for her if anybody started trouble with the newbies. Then there was a crisp, perfect set of documents from a boy called Devin Song. Envious of the whole, creaseless papers, she contemplated crinkling an edge, but her perfectionism prevented her doing so. Once again the book sitting so harmlessly in such an open space garnered her attention. With little apprehension, Garnet read the words she'd long heard rumored but as one never engulfed in the world of magic had always just missed. This time it was no wives' tale. It wasn't her mother's rambling as to why her magic should never be used. It wasn't the whisper of a camper retelling his own version of the story he'd heard a cousin mention. This was the book Ein had burned for. 'It comes. The Spirits, led by their ringmaster. On the fated day, the whole world will become its circus. There is nothing we can do. Walpurgis Night is coming.' With a shudder, Garnet closed the book quickly. Walpurgis Night... The festival of spirits? Or something more sinister? Letting out the breath she'd held while reading, the girl headed back out to the hall, wandering to the dorm area to check out her room. After all, she'd been ignoring her heavy backpack the entire time, and her back was starting to ache. Loosening the straps over the shoulders of her black t-shirt, she knocked at a random door, figuring if it was the wrong one that she could at least get directions. As she waited silently for a response, Garnet glanced down at her baggy, dark blue jeans, wondering if she should have packed more than two changes of clothes. Giving a shrug, she fidgeted with the end of her scarf and frowned, figuring it didn't matter. Nobody'd notice if she wore the same ones a couple of times, right? She smiled at her quick solution and studied the well worn wooden door, knocking again in case she hadn't been heard.

Misaki-chan 164 Report post Posted October 24, 2013 Misaki had been walking around for an hour when she came across the school's magic practice center. Here, students could come practice their skills in a safe environment. Curious as to see what was going on, she entered the building. She walked down the corridor, watching students use the elements however they wished through small windows in the door. While doing so, she noticed that there was a small picture of whatever element was being used in the room. I guess they only want certain elements in certain rooms so that way it's easier to equip rooms with what they need. The girl stopped in front of a door with a small flame drawn onto it. From the green light above, she could tell that the room was empty. Well, might as well practice fire... I still need to learn how to control it better. With that thought in mind, she punched her ID number into the door's number pad, waiting for the small buzz to ring out before opening the door and entering. The room itself was pretty big. There wasn't much in the room, just a chair off to the side, a window, a small firepit in the center of the room and a button next to the door. The button confused for her for a second, but when she looked up and saw the sprinkler system it made more sense. Very smart. Misaki got out her notes on fire magic, carelessly throwing her bag onto the chair while she quickly went over what she needed to do as well as what she needed to work on, before carelessly throwing the notebook on the ground as well. I should light the fire and start off with just basic fire controlling before moving on to more difficult things. So she took the lighter provided by the center, lit the fire and began. Ren-kun 50 Report post Posted October 24, 2013 It wasn't his choice to attend the school. Given the chance, he would have merely disposed of the admission letter once he received it but his father reminded him of the one thing that could affect him: his late mother's aspirations for him. A close friend of Drake Tonate, headmaster of Gretchen High, Helena Song was a pioneer in researching Ein's revelations. Before her untimely demise, Devin as always told by his mother that if he graduates from the prestigious school, he would be 'set for life'. Whatever that meant. It's not as if he needs any credentials to be able to have a solid future. He's Devin Song. He could get anything he wanted if he just asked for it enough. But he couldn't bear to pass on the opportunity, not after his father basically gave him a guilt trip. He didn't even know why his mother's wishes for him carried so much weight to him. They weren't particularly close. Apparently, he wasn't exempt on having a heart. Or at least some hints of it. Brushing his thoughts aside, Devin surveyed the dorm room he just entered with critical eyes. It wasn't too impressive. It was everything he expected, from the mediocre bed to the obligatory standard dresser, there wasn't much he could say about the room. It didn't have the luxuries he enjoyed back at home though it wasn't that terrible of a place to live in. One thing that seemed out of place from the basic room was a green stone affixed on the wall just above the headboard of his new bed. It was roughly the same size as his palm and it faintly glowed whenever Devin approached it. It didn't look like anything special but the boy was oddly drawn to it, as if the stone was beckoning him to come close as frequently as possible. He snapped out of the little trance though, knowing that he had a lot more important matters to attend to. Like the swapping of the hideous bedsheets, or the disposal of the equally hideous garbage bin situated beside the study desk. Devin opened his suitcase and took out a smaller pouch. Inside of it were gloves, a face mask and some disinfectant spray contained in a spritzer bottle. He wore the gloves and mask with ease, and tested the bottle's spritzer once. Time to get to work. He couldn't risk being in contact with anything that might infect him. While the room didn't look dirty, the thought that someone had lived there before him was more than enough to make him squeamish. He started with the bed, stripping it off the sheets that draped over it and thoroughly covering its entire area with the disinfectant. Lost in the 'manual labor', he jumped a bit when he heard someone knock on his door. He ignored it, figuring that whoever's at the other end would just walk away if he didn't respond. His idea of an undisturbed first day was shaping up to be nothing more than a daydream. It didn't take long before he heard the second knock, causing a visible crease form on his forehead. He took a deep breath, stood up and lowered his face mask. Devin opened the door swiftly and was met with a girl that looked a little bit too... outlandish for his tastes, certainly not someone he would want to be associated with. He raised an eyebrow and subsequently rolled his eyes, closing the door without so much as a word. Devin scurried back to the bed, deciding what kind of bedhseet he would want to use for it. Rukia Kurosaki 357 Report post Posted October 24, 2013 Garnet tapped the toe of her boot against the floor as she waited. Finally, the door was opened by a strange boy with a face mask around his neck. He was pale and looked very unhappy with his surroundings. Trying to ignore the obvious distaste, the girl grinned. She'd started to ask, "Hey, d'you know where-?" when the door was once again closed, the boy obviously rolling his eyes. "Tch, jerk..." She felt flat contempt from the other side of the wooden barrier, and seething with her own annoyance, Garn decided to give him a surprise. Silently she called on lightning, attaching a sparking jolt of it to the doorknob and passing it through the metal so that the next time it was opened from the inside, the jerk would get zapped on the hand by it. With any luck maybe it'd burn his girly-looking hands. Sticking out her tongue at the closed door as she turned away, Garnet crossed her arms and knocked again at the door, stomping off with her hands in her pockets to get out of sight and find somewhere she could get directions. After maybe ten minutes of guideless wandering, she was able to glean directions from a second-year student. Garnet dropped her backpack on the floor of the dorm room and looked around. There was no one else around, but she didn't know whether she'd have a roommate, so while unpacking her belongings she kept it organized on one side of the room. Flopping onto her stomach on the firm single bed, she buried her face in the pillow she'd brought from home, breathing in the scent of her favorite fabric softener. She reveled in the comforting feel of the cotton sheets and soon dozed off, half hanging off the side of the bed and unsure of whether she had a class to attend. Sakila 88 Report post Posted October 25, 2013 [\o/ Yay~!] Name: Sasaki Saki Age: 16 Appearance: Messy black hair; large round glasses; wears a long white coat, jeans, sneakers, and a variety of colorful rings; has a pen tucked behind her ear Personality: Scatterbrained to the point of plain stupid sometimes, Saki interacts with people around her as openly as possible. "Let's see...peanut butter. Yes, yes, peanut butter. Ah, wait no, I don't need it now. And if I can't find it maybe... Oh, hi! Just wondering, you guys have peanut butter here right? Ah, wait no, I just realized, I dropped it off already. You can go now! Okay, so what was I doing? Ah! right, peanut butter... No wait, I'm done with that... Now I need... What do I need...Ah! Right, right, registration form!" Saki continued up the stairs, her various papers flurrying about while the random student sh'ed addressed stared at her, bewildered. She paid him no attention and continued on to the office, using the crudely drawn map on the back of her hand as a guide. She was late, she realized, as she glanced at a clock and quickened her pace. She stopped in front of the desk in the office and dropped her three bags on the ground with a thud. "Registration papers...registration papers...here they are! Now, where is that pen...ah! Right, right!" She grabbed the pen tucked behind her ear and quickly signed the last page in swift cursive. Placing the pen back, she glanced around the desk before finding a stack of papers similar to hers. She placed her folded, dog-eared sheets on top before realizing that they were out of order. She immediately leaned for them again, but tripped on a chair leg and ended up falling to the floor. Papers flew everywhere and she sighed before picking herself back up and dusting herself off. She picked up the mess of registration papers, noticing some burned edges, and placed them back in order to the best of her ability. "Well, at least, they'll be able to tell who's who, right? Hopefully. Alright, well, I'm done here! Let's see... all I have to do... Hmm... what now? Gosh... I'm not even sure...hmm...Ah! What's that?" Noticing a book perched on a musical stand, she walked toward it only to trip on the strap of her bag and fall to the floor again. She sighed once more but got up and grabbed her things, checking it quickly. "What a creepy message," she thought, continuing out into the hallway. Her mind occupied by a variety of things, she didn't notice when she bumped into someone and went tumbling to the floor a third time. Looking up, she came face to face with someone familiar. "You?!" A L 217 Report post Posted October 25, 2013 "You!?" "Damn right it's me, you stupid moron. I thought you were going to stay out of my life for good. Why, I should just-" A boy dressed in a black polo shirt, denims and sneakers began. His disheveled hair made it seem like he had just gotten out of bed, but it had been meticulously styled. "Hey! Cool off! You got the wrong person!" Saki explained to the person she had bumped into. The almighty Aster Lawrence. "Oh sorry sorry......naega naega manjo-" "Super Junior?" Saki interrupted with a groan. Aster beamed at her and held his registration papers in front of her. She looked at him quizzically. "Er, what?" "Help me carry these to the Principal's office." And before she could respond, he had plucked the pen from behind her ear and was walking in the opposite direction, not checking to see if she was following or not. "Give that back!""Is it yours? It doesn't have any identification." He held the slim object way above his own head, making it impossible for her to reach. "Of course it is!" She shot back."Funny, I thought you were a walking talking pen-holder." He turned the knob of the door he had reached without bothering to knock. There was a stack of registration papers already there. He slammed his own on the neatest ones with a smirk. "All done. Oh wait." There was a book next to a stand. He was about to shove it beneath his shirt but due to a witness he himself had brought he satisfied himself by a quick glance. "It's coming..." he muttered. "Vot is zeis krap?" added, trying to sound German. He put the book gently back. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Bio Aster Lawrence, 15, a male.
Rukia Kurosaki 357 Report post Posted October 25, 2013 ((Long time no rp, you two xP Can't wait to get into some fun~ Feel free to meet Garnet in any crazy way you like, I'm bored xP)) Garnet rolled over and immediately fell off her bed. "Wha-? I didn't do it!" Drowsily she looked around, only remembering after a minute where she was. "Oh yeah, school..." She wasn't psyched about another boarding school. Sure, she could actually use her magic openly here, but she didn't much care for being shipped off. The girl stood and stretched, running a hand through her short orange hair and fixing her bangs before grabbing her considerably lighter backpack and heading out the door. Garn was starved and bored, so she just started wandering around, thinking about her abilities. The elements of Reality were a strong bunch, though water and wind were basically her enemies. She absolutely hated water unless it was either a thunderstorm or a hot bath, and wind just added to the chill and held her back. Earth was a comfort. It was her midway point that needed work but could be summoned in an emergency. Not that she'd had emergencies before... Garnet was the first to admit she couldn't control her magic, but she had a grasp of how to use it from countless experiments holed up in her room or fighting at her old schools. She found herself thinking fondly of fire as she ambled about the courtyard. It was her strongest element, and like lightning she could conjure it from seemingly nowhere. Garn practiced fire summoning and manipulation daily, and used it often when the static of lightning wasn't enough to end a conflict. With a chuckle she remembered those she'd set the pants of aflame in her other high schools. Marcus Tennen, she remembered, was one of the few who didn't buy her matches act, and eventually they'd become good friends. Well, after she'd beaten him in three public fights and confided in him her secret hobby. But now she was out once again at a new school, no familiar faces, no public enemies... Well, except maybe those two bullies and that guy with the face mask... But no serious enemies, no friends to worry about, and no mother whining over her shoulder about how magic was a sin. With a grin, Garnet wondered what her mother's face would look like if she ever found out that the boarding school she'd so eagerly signed the release forms of was for the study of magic. She pictured outrage and an attempt at removing her, but figured she was safe. Especially since she wasn't exactly welcome in her hometown. Garn sighed and scratched her head, passing up the practice room she wanted to stop by. She did need to work on control, but hunger was too prominent in her mind for any sort of magic focus. Once again lost, she paced around the stairwell, figuring she could ask another student for directions to the cafeteria or whatever they called it here. But everyone was either in a group of friends or busy, so she sat down on the steps and waited for an opening to ask.
Misaki-chan 164 Report post Posted October 26, 2013 Misaki summoned a breeze to cool her off as she walked out of the practice center, feeling hot due to playing with fire for the past hour. She knew that using magic unauthorized was wrong, but just a little breeze wouldn't hurt anyone, right? Making her way through the campus, she checked her phone. Wonder if she's here yet... Haven't heard from her... After sending her a quick text, the girl made her way into the upcoming building. She was rather hungry from all the hard work she did, but wanted to drop her things off first so she wouldn't have to carry all of it. As she made her way up the flight of stairs, she noticed an orange haired girl, sitting on the steps as if she was waiting for something or someone. Maybe she's lost? Misaki stopped a few steps from where the girl was sitting and asked, "Do you need any help?"
Rukia Kurosaki 357 Report post Posted October 26, 2013 Garnet was staring at her boots when she heard a girl's voice ask, "Do you need any help?" Help was exactly what was needed. "Yeah." With a lopsided grin she stood, glancing around the courtyard. "I was wonderin' if there was a place to get some food around here? There didn't seem to be a cafeteria or nothin'." She scratched her head and tried her best not to look out of place, but her t-shirt and baggy jeans had already tipped off the dork in the guys' dorms, so she didn't keep her hopes up. Ren-kun 50 Report post Posted October 26, 2013 Devin was fuming. He might have been a prodigy at handling earth-type spells but he certainly wasn't a person who had a solid grasp on his anger. While he might appear nonchalant and cold about everything that was going on around him, he wasn't going to let someone who had damaged his skin just slip past by his radar. He only had four triggers that would truly send him into a mad frenzy: touching his hair, his skin, his clothes and his books. Anything else out of that would just make him utter a disparaging remark or two. But his hands were singed. That basically meant that he flew off his rocker in rage. Every step he took down the stairs was accompanied by a slight rumbling of the ground as his feet came in contact with the hard concrete. His subconscious was manipulating the earth beneath him, though thankfully it had minimal power. Devin was ready to brawl, whether it be verbally or through a magic duel. She had it coming. That's what Devin believed anyway. Spotting Garnet at the foot of the stairwell with another girl, his face immediately contorted into an unpleasant expression. Great, it might be starting to form a colony. The hands he took the trouble of lathering up with a specific skin product thrice a day were disfigured in a snap. Except they weren't. They were indeed blackened and had barely noticeable burns but it's nothing that couldn't be fixed easily. Of course he overreacted. He always did when it concerned his physical appearance. He tapped his foot incessantly to get the girl's attention but when she didn't budge, Devin spun her around himself. Barely able to contain his annoyance, he started to mouth off mindlessly. "You... You imbecile! How dare you taint my flawless skin? Do you know how much money I spend on lotion for my digits? It's D&G lotion for God's sake...D&G! I'm completely certain that you'd be so neck deep in debt if I made you pay for what you've done, you won't even be able to fathom it. Expect to see a filed formal complaint against you, you flagrant and insolent excuse for a young lady!" [[Pardon Devin. XD]]
Rukia Kurosaki 357 Report post Posted October 26, 2013 [haha, all in good fun, sempai xP] Garnet did not like being turned around. She also didn't like the face and voice that greeted her as she was spun. He started rambling about his products, and it took the girl a minute to realize that her lightning jolt had succeeded in giving the priss a couple minor burns. It was with a grin she rolled her eyes at his speech before patting him on the shoulder like a child, an action she knew would bother him. "Listen, I don't know what a D&G is, and I don't think I care about your dainty little 'digits.' If ya hadn't slammed the door in my face I might not have zapped ya. Plus I've already made two enemies and I'm hungry, so I ain't in the best mood. I'd say sorry, but then again I don't take well to bein' called insolent. Or a young lady for that matter." After she was finished talking, Garnet kept her hand on his shoulder, ready to zap his clothes next if he wanted a fight. With a frown, she changed her mind and dropped her arm. What happened to no fights on day 1? If mom hears about this, she's bound to find out this place teaches magic... Putting on a look too neutral for her mood, she added, "If you wash your hands and put on a burn cream, they should be fine." The orange-haired tomboy held her hands out palm-up, showing of an array of faded pink scars and the fresh one from that morning's flame problem. "This is after usin' the bargain stuff, so your D&G whatever should do the trick." She glanced at Misaki, who she hadn't heard directions from due to the interruption, then sighed. Sakila 88 Report post Posted October 26, 2013 Saki couldn't get a grasp on what was going on. Who was this person?! The boy twirled her pen around in his hand while glancing at the Revelations book from before. "Vot is zeis krap?" Sakila could feel her anger rise as he placed the book back, still holding her pen. "Give. It. Back." He grinned in her direction and cheekily replied, "Come and get it." Sakila growled before lunging at him, only for him to dodge out of the way. She slammed into the music stand but quickly regained her balance and started chasing him again. "Turns out pen-holders aren't too fast," he shouted behind him as they raced down the hallway. He fluidly swung onto the stairwell, using the railing as support. Sakila was not at all that graceful and ended up tripping on the very first step. She flew forward, arms flailing, straight down to the bottom. Ah! If I'm going, I'm taking him with me! She grabbed the collar of the boy's shirt and they both went tumbling down to the bottom, falling on top of three people. An orchestra of groans emanated from the tangle of five bodies on the ground. Being one of the people on top, Sakila scrambled to her feet, only to trip and fall to the ground again. "Sorry," she shouted at the top of her lungs, snatching the pen she'd lost from the ground and scooting back a few feet. [Yay! Full contact!]

Suddenly, another boy swung onto the stairwell, using the railing as support. The girl used the railing to to swing herself around, but unlike the boy tripped over the first step. As she fell, arms flailing, Misaki saw her face. What the...?! Saki grabbed the collar of the boy and took him down with her, coming at the three of them fast. Misaki, not wanting the girl to hurt herself too badly, stepped in front of the others and held out her arms to catch the falling girl. Her thin stature didn't do much though as she ended up falling over as well, landing on top of someone. Well at least I cushioned her fall... The girl scrambled to her feet, only to fall again. "Sorry," she shouted at the top of her lungs, snatching the pen she'd lost from the ground and scooting back a few feet. Seeing how Misaki had been trying to find her, she pouted as she got up from the group, "Saki! Where have you beeen? I've been trying to get in touch with you all day!" Whoa, keep calm and not violate school regulations by shocking a human to death. Then again, he'd be doing the world a favor by getting rid of him. Aster just sighed as he dispelled all charges. Davin was absolutely livid. "Don't talk about my mother, filth." "She was filth?" He shot back, using Davin's own words. "Now now," Garnet stepped in.
