Lately, we have encountered a large number of offensive advertising spammers. Most of them are validating users who reply with whatever website they're programmed to advertise when someone comments on their profile page, or ones that abuse the report system to distribute those links (although only the mods will be able to see these ads when this happens). Moreover, they have a tendency to automatically add a group of active members to become their "friends", possibly as a way to attract these users to pay attention to them, or to "blend in" better.

 

Therefore, if you received friend invitations from strange users (especially those who are of Validating group and have also randomly befriended many other members), please be careful, as they could be spammers. If you speak to them and are responded with links to external sites, or if you discover any other suspicious behavior, please report these users to the moderators immediately. Don't click or try to access those web pages.
